This review is more of a chain review than the actual location. Service was fine but I keep having the same problem regardless of location. So Applebee's corporate you need to hear this. YOUR STEAKS SUCK! You cannot take a $3 piece of boot leather and market it as a $20 steak and expect people to be happy. Constantly chewy and full of grissle and quite obviously less than prime cuts of beef. I sent the first one back and the second was no better. For $8 I can go down the street to Texas Roadhouse and get a steak that melts in my mouth. This is why your losing customers. We can tell the difference from what you used to serve vs what you are currently serving. Pick it up or shut it down. read more

This is my second review if an Applebee's, this time the Layton location since Bountiful is gone. 4 of us went to celebrate one of life's small victories of the day but hey, it was dinner time and a win is a win, right? My daughter and I both ordered French onion soup. Her first time with FOS and she liked it. "Cheese gum." She ordered boneless chicken as her entree (medium spice)!and I had the oriental salad with grilled chicken (cause it's January and I'm still being good). Did you know grilled chicken costs more than the crispy (fried) chicken? Wifey had tomato soup and boneless wings.When her tomato soup came out the cup was filled only about half way. What a gyp, so back it went. Teenage son had a Caesar salad and Whiskey burger with fries (and anything else that wasn't bolted down including chicken from both girls). That used to be my M.O. but again, New Year resolutions and all...Wait staff was good and all-in-all the trip was a success. read more

My wife wanted to try Applebees' again after a few years of not eating at one. It was a horrible meal overall. We went their for the two for twenty deal. We got boneless buffalo wings which were somewhat overcooked. Then my wife had the bourbon chicken with shrimp and I had pork ribs and fries. The seasoning on our food was horrible and the chicken of my wife's dish was uneatable. The fries were seasoned too much and the pork was hard to eat with the flat bones all throughout the meat. I highly recommend going somewhere else for dinner. Applebees' is just a horrible place to eat. I remember when it was better when it was new in Utah, but it sure has gone down in quality. This is Utah and found no real Happy Hour??? Drinks at full price, but 1/2 price on certain apetizers(9p to closing M-th).. Service is decent.. Food ok for something just above fast food..These Applebees' in Utah are very different than the ones in California,much pricier and happy hour restricted hours.. Used this place for biz dinner, sinc ethe guests waned "American food". Exactly what you'd expect from applebees. They are okay, nothing special. Service was somewhat hit and miss, drink order was quick but check took forever to come to our table, getting our guest nurvus as they had a conf call at hotel. The restaurant was busy, even for a Saturday night, but we got dat immediately, and had drink orders taken moments after. Our server, Chris, was in top of absolutely everything, hands down one of the best servers I've ever had. They have TVs all over the place to entertain, and instead of showing sports, the presidential debate took the screen. Food was good, not spectacular for the price though, roughly 12$ per entree. Appetizers here are so good and they are always looking to spice up the menu. All in all, great experience. 4/5 because price did not match quality. They've gotten slower over the years, sometimes it takes a while to even get a drink order placed. The food is still really good and I've never had a negative experience with the staff. We received a gift card to Applebee's for Christmas and decided to make use of it tonight. It was after dinner time and before half priced apps. The place was empty. I can't really complain about the service. Our server was attentive and tried to put on a smile. We ordered a Trio appetizer, each of us got a main dish, I got a salad and my wife had soup. My wife asked about the French onion soup and it was recommended. She certainly wishes it wasn't. It looked awful and tasted just as bad. The was either bad or mediocre at best. Nothing was good. I've had numerous bad experiences with this Applebee's. Month's ago I came in and sat at the bar, I was the only person sitting at the bar, and waited about 15 minutes without a single person asking me if I've been helped out or even seeing a bartender so I just walked out. Then recently about a week ago, I walked in and I know the bar is closed medicat because of Covid but there are seats in the bar area so I asked the host if I could sit in the bar area and he said "if you're looking for a bar, you can go next door." So I walked out. Then a couple days ago I went in and sat in the bar area at a table and The bartender came over, took my order and after my food was dropped off I never saw her again for the rest of the night. I had to ask the Buser to get me a box and I had to ask the hostess to get my server so that I can pay for my meal. Well they recently released new menu items, which had people talking, and I thought it's been a long time since I've been in an Applebees...so why not! I was recently on a road trip (long 9 hours) and needed to stop to watch the Mens Elite 8 games(no road trip will keep me from the tournament..haha). Applebees was right off the Interstate so we decided to stop. Our table tried the spinach and artichoke cavatappi, the chicken mac and cheese, the pretzel bites and the chicken caprese. It was the general consensus of the table that all the food was just blah! These are all the new menu items...and not a single one would we order again. I normally don't review places like Applebee's because it's usually the same old thing. You walk in, grab a margarita order some fajitas and maybe a dessert and done. Usually service isn't the main highlight. But recently, I found myself craving some fajitas, so I'm like okay, well Applebee's has some decent fajitas but just this past visit, everything was coming out amazing. The fajitas were tender and juicy and the sides tasted so fresh, and the service was just amazing, from the first initial greeting, where the young man was just making some casual small talk to make us feel comfortable to Lianes or Leeanes (sorry if I butchered your name) amazing service and drinks! My margaritas always taste too sweet but this time it was just perfect and she even asked me to make sure if it was to my liking and if I had any special preference. Not just anyone does that now a days and she just was on top of her game, like she's been on this job for years! So thank you for the great drinks and kind and friendly service. We go to the Applebee's in Layton almost every Saturday night and usually our experience is pretty fun but tonight left us feeling like it might be time to move on. When we arrived we were sat near the Togo entrance, our server Cassie was amazing and the food as usually was good. About 10 minutes into our visit one do the employees (we found out later his name was Mike) began to play a ukulele. This continued for the entirety of our meal, dessert and the 20 or so minutes we stayed to finish watching the Utes game. My wife mentioned to him as he passed "Can we stop with the ukulele?" We had finally said something to our server about the ukulele because it was adding to the already vast array of noise. She mentioned who was playing it and my wife said "hey Mike,cool it with the ukulele." He obvious heard it as he continued to play the same 3 cords he had been strumming for a good hour and a half but this time at a little louder volume. He finally walked out of the building (we assumed he was leaving). As he walked out my wife said "oh thank god!" And he walked out the Togo door and stood just outside the window glaring at my wife. We talked about it for a second as he continued to glare at my wife. He finally walked back in and approached our table saying "You got something to say to me?" My wife responded with "yes, we asked you to stop playing several times and you just ignored us, we are trying to finish our meal and watch the Utes game." His reply was "I'm sorry, but does the TV have sound?" My friend jumped in and said "No it doesn't, but I am a paying customer and have asked you to stop, the nice thing to do would be to stop or go outside." As he walked out he turned around and said "Well, you're a bitch!" My friend then followed him out the door and exchanged words with him, while Cassie got her manager Marc. Marc apologized profusely for the treatment, but here is my thing. This young kid, it calling a table full of women bitches in front of our 4 year old daughter. I will not tolerate that kind of treatment and it makes me sick the just because my daughter is a girl she will have to grow in a world where men think they can just call women whatever they want. I sincerely hope Marc took this seriously and is going to take care of this. He tried to make it right by us by apologizing and doing what he could to make it right, but at the end of the day, he didn't say it. So I hope he doesn't allow people like Mike to continue to be representatives of his business and examples of how they choose to show their respect for the public they serve. read more

Applebee's are the same pretty much everywhere. We always get good service at this location. I'm leaving the review to say that the Cross Cut Ribs suck! They are 80% bone with little tiny bits of meat. They were all you can eat which is good because we needed to eat a LOT to get a decent serving of meat. It was not worth the effort. read more

Mom and I were craving steak for lunch, and decided that, since Applebee's was right there, hey, why not? When we walked in, we were immediately seated, and about five minutes later, our server walked over to get our drinks and to see if we were ready to order yet. She was kind and polite, with a nice smile, and easily helped us when we asked if they had an allergen menu. My mom and I are severely allergic to wheat, and we wanted to make sure we didn't accidently order something that had wheat in it. As we were looking through the allergen menu, we found that the steak was labeled as containing not just wheat and gluten, but also milk, eggs, shellfish, fish, tree nuts, peanuts, and soy. We were understandably very disappointed, but our server, Haylee, suggested other entrees we might like that she knew were wheat and gluten free, and when we expressed how much we were looking forward to having steak and that nothing else really sounded that good at the moment, she offered to go double check the ingredients, just to be sure. When she came back, she said the manager was looking into it personally, and that he'd be out with the verdict soon. Another server came over to see how we were doing, he was very nice and explained everything that was being done to make sure the steak and the seasonings were wheat and gluten free. When the manager finally came out, he said that the ingredient list on the actual steak said nothing about wheat or gluten, or really anything that the allergen menu said was in it, and that the seasonings they used didn't, either. He showed us a picture of the ingredients in the steak and, sure enough, it was allergen free as far as we could tell! He asked us what we were planning on getting, and then told us that since the appetizers for the 2 for $20 weren't wheat and gluten free, we could sub it for another, like queso and chips, which we ended up getting. Haylee came back and took our orders, she was still very helpful. After we ordered and our food came, both Haylee and Marc, the manager, came back to check on us and made sure everything was good and to make sure we weren't reacting to anything. I'm happy to say the only reactions we had were, "Oh, this is so good!" Marc was fun to talk to, he was very personable, and Haylee, like I've said, was very helpful, even when she didn't know something off the top of her head, she still did her best, and would find out for sure when she was unsure of something. Overall, we were very impressed by their service and their food. I've always had good service at this location, and the servers are almost always fun to talk to. Maybe too fun to talk to! My sister is having a birthday dinner with her husband and friend at Applebee's tonight. I thought it would be nice to surprise her and pay for their meal. Upon calling the store and talking to a manager I was informed they will not take a credit card over the phone. I'm confused. In my business I take credit cards over the phone all day when people buy products as do half the other businesses in the nation. Why couldn't they use discretion, ask my billing address or even ask me to send a picture of license with my card to confirm I am who I am? Sorry Katy. That was your surprise. Surprise, there is no surprise. I think you should look at the policy and really run a risk analysis. It was 4:15 on a Wednesday and the place had maybe 12 people in it. Ordered a second round... since it was endless... that took 23 minutes to arrive. Not exaggerating! I asked the waitress for round 3 when she brought out round 2 and joked we'd better order them now since it seems to take a long time to be delivered. The table across from us leaned over and told us they were having the same experience... and we started watching and noticed another table nearby that was complaining because they got their food in shifts instead of bringing it all out at once. Took the family out on a Friday night. We were sat immediately. Drinks came fast. When we asked for 2 additional forks (the kids were never given any) we were told they were "up front". So we are supposed to get then ourselves ? Later on we requested refills on our sodas, it was like pulling teeth. The ribs were great, the Mac and cheese sucked, it was dry.
