This Applebees is located near the Pecanland Mall in Monroe, right next to a Courtyard Marriott in which I was staying. My experience was good, and typical for an Applebee's (Ive been to many). Since I was traveling on business, I was alone and sat up at the bar. The bartender was friendly and engaging, and was quick to make sure I always had what I needed. I had the Cheeseburger quesidilla and small Caesar salad. The salad was a little dry and underwhelming, but the quesadilla was good. All in all, I enjoyed the meal. Horrible! Absolutely disappointing. Went in last night and I'll just start a list of all that went wrong... My child NEVER got her meal. No drink refills. Ordered a burger that comes with a side plate full of the toppings and never received it. Just plain patty on a bun. Waitress was complaining about other staff member to another waitress while taking our order. We got to listen in. The floor was grossly dirty. Okay, I could go on but those are the main things that really upset me. After mentioning the missing kids food and missing plate of toppings we were brought a sad looking piece of lettuce and slice of tomato on a plate. With the message they were out of Mac and cheese to pick something else. Picked something else, (who the heck runs out of boxed Mac and cheese? Seriously?) then fifteen minutes later a disheveled guy brings out a bowl of Mac and cheese and says he found it in the back or something and runs off. He was the manager.. really not very professional at all. She never got the side that was supposed to come with her meal. Not sure what the deal with the staff was but not a single one of them looked dressed for the job. Our waitress has on a zip up hoodie that had graphics and wording across the back. Slowest service ever!! Stopped in for a "quick" lunch on our long haul to Dallas. I wish we got A gas station sub instead and continued our route. Server was MIA 90% of the time. The food got delivered where we had no utensils. The chick that left the food should of seen that. I got up and walked to the server station myself and told the server I was going to take it, where he let me lean over and grab it in front of him. No sauces we requested came with the meal. After finally seeing him again to request it, he clearly forgot about it. 10 minutes later we asked again and finally got it to dip the 2 last bites in. We ordered the pecan blonde since the white chocolate blonde was always our favorite. However this one was cold and not as we remembered. Being a chain, you usually get the same service everywhere you go but this one was one of those rare cases. I don't think I'll be back to another Applebee's again unless there is free beer. At the manager came to swipe our credit cards while showing the training server what to do. Being put on the spot it was hard for us to say no. It's been YEARS and I mean YEARS since I stepped foot in an Applebees. I see their commercials and I never find them tempting. With a laundry list of food allergies and our local Applebees closed years ago, there has been no reason until now. A road-trip through multiple states led us here. I searched what was close to our hotel along the way and Applebees popped up. After a look through their menu I found the menus dedicated to Vegan and Vegetarian ... and we had to find out. This establishment is open until midnight and we were out of options. We rolled in stinking of crusty spray tans and sweat and all the dust from a long day on the road. Voyce greeted us with another staff member and I cannot shout loud enough about how great this experience has been. The food is good and exactly like we requested (that rarely happens anywhere and we understand we're the problem). We're so thankful to have such a great end to a long day. This is the worst managed restaurant in the chain. The manager spent more time conversing with two female patrons and serving them. I asked to speak with him several times. He seemed more interested in dodging his responsibilities than solving the issues in the restaurant. It seems some kid had a kiosk and was ordering food for every table in the place. If you are staying at one of the Marriott properties by the mall than this is a very convenient location. We stayed at Courtyard when we first moved and this Applebee's became a regular place for us. We learned quickly not to eat in. Service is terrible! Manager's we met were nice, so it surprises me they hire such terrible staff. You walk in and they don't hold door or greet you till you speak with them. Food is right half the time. Service is slow. Drinks are weak. If you sit in the back of restaurant it has a weird smell. Ordering for pick up online or over phone is better quality food, but expect to wait at least ten minutes after you arrive. Thursday nights are Karoke nights and we've never seen an Applebee's do something like this. Omg it turns into an obnoxious club like scene with drunken fools everywhere. After a re-visit, I can truly say that the Monroe Applebee's is A-OK. When I wrote a one-star review back in May, the Regional Manager contacted me a few days later to gather feedback. He genuinely seemed concerned and promised that he would make some changes. Oh, and he sent me $30 gift card. He asked me to give the Monroe Applebee's another shot and then give him feedback again. So, on my most recent trip to Monroe, I decided to give Applebee's another chance, but I didn't use my gift card on this particular trip because I wanted my review to be honest and unbiased. Some friends and I went late on a Friday night, and we were immediately greeted by a hostess. She promptly seated us, and our server, Jessi, quickly came by to talk to us. Jessi was an absolute delight and a complete 180 from the horrible server we had during my one-star visit. She was insanely warm, friendly, and personable. And she was fast. And she kept my water constantly full. And she frequently checked on us without being even the slightest bit annoying. The food came out quite promptly, and everything was piping hot. I'm not the biggest fan of the Applebee's menu, but the food was pretty tasty! Even my steak was cooked perfectly! So, in the end, the Monroe Applebee's has vastly improved, so they get an A+ for effort. It's still Applebee's, so it's never going to be gourmet. But I'm happy that it's back to its old self again - the Applebee's I loved during my ULM days! read more

$6.99 for lunch, how could you go wrong, right? I thought so... being my first ever visit to Applebees today. I had never had the courage to enter before, thinking it was just another mediocre chain and today, I wanted so badly to prove myself wrong for such a decent lunch special. But sadly I wasn't blown away. I think that the soup I got was tasty - french onion. I ate every bite, minus the huge amounts of cheese they used to fill up the bowl. It was overly salty, and I am feeling kind of dehydrated now..... but tasty. As for my sandwich, they had no vegetarian options so I was pleased when the waiter said they could make the Turkey Fried Green Tomato sandwich without the turkey. This too was tasty - but dripping in grease. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if you looked past the grease and the salt, but as a self-proclaimed chef that nowadays eats at home fresh veggies from the farmer's market, it was beyond hard looking past the unhealthiness of the meal. However.... on another note, next time, I would definitely sub the sandwich for the salad. They even have champagne dressing, fancy. And if you can look past the artery clogging qualities, then maybe you won't mind Applebees either, atleast every so often, it can't be too bad. Side note: they have 2 for 1 Bahama Mamas and Margaritas, not advertised on the menu but it didn't hurt us to ask. Bahama Mamas were especially delicious! read more

The 1 star isn't due to 1 visit, but a combination of visits. A coworker and I try to go once a week due to them being open until 1 am on Friday nights. At least, the doors are unlocked. There is a particular manager that has refused us service on multiple occasions. Understandably, we walk in at 12:30, but we are never there past 1. We like to finish off a rough week at work with a drink and maybe an appetizer. This manager, the one that can't stop playing with his mustache(unsanitary as it may seem) refuses to directly speak to customers. Speaking to the bartenders(whom don't know his first name because he makes them call him Mr. _____)he makes them call last call at 12:15. Most places I visit have last call 10 minutes before closing. I understood that if a business closes at 1, then they close at 1, and not refuse service at 12:30. Overall the food is wonderful and they have the best Long Island iced tea I've ever had, when I can be served. The bar staff is great, but this manager is horrible, and the 1 star is completely based on my experience with this manager. read more

Do not go here!! Who ever the manager is they should get fired! I got my beer 10 minutes after my coworker got his, and that was only because I got up and reminded them that I ordered a beer. My coworkers food arrives, 10 minutes later mine arrives. During all of this, we witnessed people leaving the restaurant because the service was horrible, one guy that ordered take-out cane back because they messed up his order, then they tell him thru don't have what he ordered. I'm very glad we stopped in, almost didn't because the reviews weren't great. This Applebees has definitely undergone a management change! Resturant was clean, waitstaff very polite, and service was good. We ordered an appitizer, cheese fondue and pretzels, I had a cocktail- margarita. Both were good, my only complaint however was how small a serving the cheese dip was. I had fish and chips, my companion had chicken and mushrooms. Both were very good. First time (and probably last, since we don't live here) being at this location and it was good. It was karaoke night so it was pretty packed and the only thing open late around here. Our server was young with dark hair. She was nice and did a good job! The mashed potatoes are very delicious as well as the bourbon shrimp. The grilled chicken is plain but you can expect that. The pest part: the food came out so fast!!! I don't think I've ever had my food come out as fast as it did at this location. The only reason I'm giving TWO, instead of a SINGLE star is, I have had worse. So in all honesty, there weren't any critters or strange creatures in my food, so I guess that's the positive here. What happened to this place. I stayed in the hotel next to the restaurant for almost a year. I ate here at least three times a week. Food and service was always good. Now the food is ok and the staff is a joke. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive as the rest of the wait staff would gather to socialize. When I walked in I noticed it was clean. It wasn't very noisy either, and unlike other restaurants the wait was only 10 minutes, while places like Olive Garden were almost an hour. I noticed all workers where wearing a mask, but the menu's were paper and when you ordered they threw them away and I don't like wasting trees, but I get that they wanted no cross-contamination.
