So Applebees in Walmart Plaza in Chili was the chosen spot last Tuesday night. The host was also our waiter. He was pretty good and we sat in a booth right behind the host/ hostess station. Hey weren't that busy but it wasn't slow either. So he came right over to the table and took our order. He got the chicken tortilla soup a favorite of his and the chicken wrap. No complaints from him it was good. I got the veggie burger and the garlic mashed potatoes which was also super good and again no complaints from me on that one. read more

The food was good, sever Hannah was decent but the service was horrible. Our bill came up to 50 we accidentally added the wrong tip but the payment did not go through. When the screen reloaded the new total was the original total plus the tip and it gave us the option to add another tip making the total almost $70 for 2 meals. I'm usually pretty forgiving with chain restaurants but I can't be with this one. My daughter and grandkids picked this for dinner. With the exception of my granddaughter's burger all other meals were unbelievably sad. Grandson's Mac and cheese with chicken tenders Mac was all Mac and almost no cheese, daughter's steak was supposed to be medium RARE came at best medium and within an hour she was in the bathroom! My baby back ribs were totally inedible, they were so dried out (over microwaved) that it took all I could do to break one rib from the rack. When I tried to bite into it it was like trying to eat a ceramic bone. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen but wasn't cooking. It took forever to get a wait person to come back to the table to register my disappointment with the food. Granted she took the rock hard ribs to the manager and he/she took them off the bill. She was very apologetic for the food which was good but the manager remained hidden and obviously didn't realize it his/her job to come to the table. Waiter completely unorganized and disoriented and to top it off extra items added to my check that I did not order. It's not that I don't like Applebees (but maybe I don't). It's that there are so many other places to choose. However, Hubbo likes to come back every now and then. The service at this visit was pretty terrible. The people at the tables on either side of us complained to the manager. I can't imagine that it improved their experiences but it certainly seemed to make them feel better. My fries and burger were cold but tasted good. Hubbo really liked his sandwich. When picking up my Carside to Go in Gates, I decided to open my Strawberry Salad to make sure all was good. most of the time when I do Carside something is always wrong. So when I looked at the salad there were multiple things wrong. I told the server, she was terrific, she ran inside and brought out the items that were missing. She was so apologetic and truly seemed she cared, I appreciated that. I filled out an online survey and expressed my disappointment! Within a few days one of the managers contacted me, Meridith, to discuss the issues. She was amazing and wanted to make it right! She really listened and cared about my issued and Did make it right. Because of her, I'll be going back again. Have to say, Applebees does have the best salads...as long as they are done correctly! read more

Came in today with the family. Ordered a steak, a bourbon chicken, and some mac and cheese for the family. After a lengthy wait, the food arrived stone cold and overcooked. A steak cooked so well done it could be mistaken for shoe leather. We sent that back for a retry which they happily obliged. Recook came out as slightly less well done but definitely not to temp. At this point we were so hungry we no longer cared. We also wanted to get home before midnight. There was no compensation, not even a soda on the house. Horrendous. Chicken was delectable. I had a salad bowl that had Avacado, a corn salsa, chopped tomatoes and perfectly cooked shrimp and tortilla strips. There was no wait time to be seated at 5:30. Thank you Applebees for a Veterans Day dinner. I should have looked at my previous review about saltiness. Fiesta Lime Chicken has 1 1/2 days of sodium! But taste good (and salty). A former worker sitting near me at the bar said cooks have no control of ingredients. Comes from a central source that way. Staff did not show the usual friendliness towards Veterans; this year they seemed to be unhappy and inattentive. Probably COVID stress. This was a follow-up visit for us. We recently had an issue with an order we received, so Applebee's insisted on making amends by offering us a reduced charge to dine there. As my wife is having a birthday soon, we chose to have a meal now. We were promptly seated and our server, Darla, took our beverage order. We probably could have ordered from the parking lot, because we chose to have the Chicken Fajita platters. Our host and Manager, David, stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking. The fajitas arrived and looked and smelled fabulous. The chicken was just the right size for the tortillas and there was a terrific variety of fresh veggies. They were prepared just right, nice and warm, but still crisp. There was plenty of everything, in fact, I brought home enough for a good sized snack tomorrow. This just reenforces my thinking that when you want a good "sit-down meal", don't order in, go there and enjoy everything prepared in the kitchen there. I'd like to thank everyone at Applebee's in Gates, NY and to Kaitlin C. for following up with us. Good ole Crapplebees in my hometown. Why am I even leaving this review? The people that leave here know what it's about and know what to expect when they come here. Well I'll tell you why. One waiting to be seated even though half the restaurant is empty. Two waiting more that ten minutes for a drink. Because the sever is too busy hanging with his friends. This is my go-to Applebees because it was right around the corner from my parent's house. Staff friendliness is a hit or miss. This last time there I ordered an appetizer trio: motzerella sticks, chicken wings, spianch artichoke dip. My motz sticks never came out. I asked about them and the girl said she never heard me say it. So I said nevermind to them. So the bill comes and my entire trio was on there. With the vast variety of places to eat around the world, no one place, except for Home, can be "As good as it gets". If it weren't for that description, this place would have gotten the 5th Star. This write-up is based on my visits the days following Thanksgiving 2015. It's long, but worth reading to the end. As with any restaurant, this Applebee's had a few unfortunate points I'd like to mention, mostly as corrective criticisms. The "Table Wiper", who used a dirty, wet towel, left the whole table soaking wet. One waitress snipped "I am busy", and just walked away when I attempted to ask a quick question. Another waitress... I'll just say I don't appreciate liars. (Mind you, these similar types of things have happened at other restaurants as well) Now for the Good Points! Overall, the Hostess, Serving Staff, and Bartenders were all upbeat, and always seemed to have a Smile ready. Usually, people would only see the Server's Smile, while being worked for a higher tip. Not while I was at this Applebee's. The Smiles and perky personalities were at a constant the whole time I was there. I felt like tipping everyone that worked while I was there, but I'm not a Millionaire, so hopefully they will accept this write-up as a "tip". The Food. Though there was a variety to choose from, I decided on the 'Shrimp Parmesan Sirloin', and the 4 Cheese Mac-N-Cheese with the chicken on top for my main meals. The portions were just right, and they were served hot. For my palette, both meals were very delicious, and that touch of light spice on the chicken was a pleasant surprise. Their side salad was prepared well, and was a generous size. I usually don't have desserts when I eat out, but my Fantastic Server, Ashley P. (More about her later) convinced me otherwise. The way she described the Awesome, Pure Chocolate dessert, with a scoop of real vanilla ice cream, it sounded like THE Main Attraction!! When Ashley brought it out, with the Beautiful Smile on her face, the whole presentation was like a priceless work of art. Though I got one of those rich, sweet, chocolate headaches, I couldn't stop eating. Mixing the soft ice cream with the chocolaty\fudge syrup... MMMmmm... Chocolate, AAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!! (My imitation of Homer Simpson) The Best Part (For Me), The Service. A BIG KUDO (ATTA-BOY) CALL-OUT to Ashley P. (My Fantastic Server), and Jessie (The Terrific Assistant Manager\Bartender). They are the two who provided me the OUTSTANDING Service experiences I had. Just about anyone can plop down a drink, or plate of food like a Zombie, and flop the bill in front of you when they're done. Not these two ladies! Ashley P. Always had a Smile, and Pleasant Personality whenever she came to my table to serve, or check on me. She would come around to make sure everything was right, and to see how I was doing. When time permitted, she would stay a little longer for some friendly chat (This is Very Much Appreciated by guys, like me, who dine alone). My food was gently placed in front of me, and my drink was always available. To me, Ashley's service, and care for her guests is worth more than the 130% tips I left for her. Jessie also had a constant Smile, and Wonderful Personality. There were times she even went out of her way to make sure I was doing well, and to chat with me. The nights I wasn't drinking alcohol, she talked me into having one of her strawberry shakes, which she made with Joy & Happiness. One night, when I was drinking, and buying drinks and food for others, she provided the same Great Service. Before I left, I left her a 30% tip (Um, my bill was HUGE that night) for being so Great. I only occasionally get applebees because its near me. I consider it the low end food tier of restaurants. I usually don't have issues but apparently now when you order your meal the sides are optional? I ordered a sandwich for 12.99. Picture shows a sandwhich and fries. So I assume you het fries with it. Who orders a meal without a side? When I get home i'm annoyed because the forgot the fries. I doublecheck the app prior to calling to complain only to realize that when you order the fries are listed as optional. If its optional don't show a picture of it. In addition you have to scroll down the see you have to check the fries box for yes. Else you only get a sand which for 12.99. I would never order a sandwhich by itself for 12.99. Won't return. Plenty of other restaurants who sell you meals and don't trick you out of your sides. read more

Really bad service. I mean really, really bad. The food was ok. Not great. We were ignored for 5 minutes after walking in. An employee came to the host station but only to retrieve his cell phone, then walked away. After grabbing a couple of menus from the station, we were seated. I ordered a beer and ended up getting it from the bar myself.. The waitress didn't even notice/acknowledge my missing drink. I feel bad not leaving 20% tip...but this was really bad. Went on a friday night with my girlfriend and another couple. Started off good as we were told it would be 25 minute wait and were sitting at a table 10 minutes later. ordered 2 appetizers and 4 entrees. Waited about 25 minutes just for the appetizers and then had our entrees come 3-4 minutes later. Barely enough time to choke down the appetizers which were good. The entrees though has a few issues. My burger was overdone, had soggy fried onion strips on top and came with literally a few drops of bbq sauce which i had to ask for a side to add on. My gf also ordered a burger but was happy with hers. The other couple both ordered chicken strips which came under cooked and soggy. The fries that came with all of our entrees were also under cooked and were almost not edible. Overall the meal was not pleasant and will not be returning any time soon. read more

The one in Irondequoit definitely has stories to tell and reeks like an after-hours taint seminar. After a night of fries and shrimp kabobs, I got a rash - a roasted fact of Satan rash, I shit you not. I swore never to go back, except for my grandparents' 50th anniversary party, where I sat in a kids booster seat just to be safe. I was a big fan of Applebee's 15 years ago. They had a fish fry consisting of a huge fried haddock filet that hung off the edges of the plate, chicken fried chicken that left room for nothing else on the plate, all well cooked to order, great sides and appetizers, and a staff that was super family friendly. It's amazing how far downhill a place can go. The fish fry shrunk to a modest size, the haddock became pollock, today that's shrunk down to three scrungy chunks of heavily breaded "fish and chips", six bread sticks costs six dollars, steaks that are so tough and full of grizzle they hardly deserve to be called steak... etc., so today we had the bacon cheese burgers, and they were astonishing, pink in the middle as requested, but tough and burned around the edge and so /salty/ it was hard to believe they could get that much salt between the buns, and I confess that the only reason I finished mine was because it cost nearly $12, my partner ate less than half of hers and said maybe we could crumble up the remaining burger and add it to some pasta. They were accompanied by a blob of greasy french fries that were so tough and chewy they were the proverbial shoe leather, and after I tossed them out to the birds I had some regrets that a sea gull might choke to death. One star for effort, the fact that this is common to all Applebee's means it's not the local staff's fault. I'm sending a message out in Christmas cards this year, "Please! No More Applebee's Gift Cards!" read more

We picked up takeout from here maybe 30 minutes ago. After a 20 minute wait in the car past the pick up time we were already not impressed. The wings are cold, very hard, and not at all appetizing.
