absolutely HORRIBLE I think the service was the worst part! we had 7 people in our party we ordered three sets of the appetizer trio's that you get to pick what you want on them and got drinks. The drinks took a while to come and when we got the appetizers not a single person got a plate we all had to eat over the paper napkins they give you with your silverware. After that we got our food it was actually hot this time so I guess thats a plus but my drink was empty by this time the server walked over to my end of the table to give me my food and never even offered to get me another one or gave me a chance to ask for another one so I went without a drink the whole rest of the time we were there. I got two dessert to go at this point I just want to get out of there but the server never asked anyone at the end if they wanted any dessert just brought the check and then when we did get the dessert I got home and opened it it was like they took a quarter of apple pie and smashed it in the bottom of a Togo container and said here you go. Not sure what was happening at this Applebee's in South Portland today, but the staff all seemed to be zombies who couldn't care less about any customers. After several minutes of waiting for a host/hostess to greet or seat any of the waiting patrons, we went looking for someone. Mind you, we were all in full view of the bartender and 2 different servers who couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge us or say that someone would be right there. We are not upset at all about that but we were standing outside on the sidewalk and 40 minutes before they close they turn the lights off on us and a big back women starts swatting her hands for us to go away and they I think the manager it was or whoever but he also did it in front on customers too. The bone in wings are a surprisingly tasty treat at a place not known for wings. Crispy skin, juicy meat and well seasoned. More than the food is the Super friendly staff and waiters that make our family dinner nights an overall pleasure. Wanted some throwback snow day food, so we ordered grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soups for delivery. It was hands down the saltiest food I have ever eaten in my life. After I ate it, my Apple Watch's health app displayed an alert: "You appear to be eating raw salt. This is not recommended. Please add food." The bread was salty. The cheese was salty. The soup was salty. Mine came with fries which tasted more like the salt-based corporate flavor powder they were covered in than potatoes. My wife's sandwich came with some rubbery mozzarella sticks (also salty) that tasted like the kind you'd get at 2nd run movie theater. This is chain food at its worst. Very good shrimp and overall a good meal. 5 Stars for the service and convenience of the Applebee's To-Go program. They come to your car with your food and will take your payment (the only thing is it they could have a process where the server doesn't have to go inside to make the payment but be able to process it right outside of your car). I've been here off and on over the years. This one is near target, in south portland. Good location. Plenty of parking. For lack of a better term, Applebee's being a fast food chain. There menu is decent. The two for twenty deal is one of the best deals you can get. I met the manger /mangers off and on. I would like to say each and every time my food is made correctly. However tut would be a lie. I've had to send back under cooked meat or rubbery tasting boneless wings. Not to say that they where not prompt on correcting the issue, By taking it off the bill, making a new order if I wanted. (Which each and every time at this restaurant was made correctly on the second attempt) On some accounts a manger would offer me a free coupon for certain items. They have a full bar so drinks away. I've no issues with the drinks at this Applebee's. The staff here where and are kind enough If you want a sit down restaurant and are feeling daring. High tailed it outta there super quick and made it back to the room in 4 mins flat. ... to COLD soup. .. well One of the 2 was lukewarm... the other COLD. with cheese completely solid on top.. I think they placed it in the cup with intention of putting it in a microwave, but it never made it. The Burger was the most confusing to figure out.. A little overcooked, yet still juicy.. assembled so sloppy, the toppings just kinda fell out and I kinda let them... I was that starved. But what really got me was the bottom bun was soft and chewy, soaking up any juice, but the top bun was super stale, crunchy, stiff and hard. SO awful. I am a burger purist .. and I ordered a burger here because I had always been pleased with them. This was just totally unacceptable. I left the chicken on the salad alone because it tasted sorta rubbery and ended up scoffing down the greens , with no extra dressing. ah well. He liked the tenders and claimed that it was pretty hard to screw those up. And the cheesecake I ate in bed with the ice cream that had somehow not melted. It was the highlight of the meal. I like it better without the caramel sauce. Sorely disappointed. I know Applebees has gone way way way downhill since the mid 90s when they served somewhat real food. But I just can't even believe how terrible all the food was, when you go into a chain knowing what to expect.. ,Horrible really, just a bad end to a crappy day. Should be noted that women bar tending was so busy talking about her vacation for Thanksgiving and inviting the two patrons at the bar, exchanging phone numbers and talking about their vacation together that we were hardly there. So unprofessional Took us what felt forever to get her attention to pay the bill. We put the Seize the Deal Coupon on top of the receipt and Credit card. She returned the with no credit and the Seize The Deal Coupon under everything. I'm not stupid, the intention was for us to simply not realize. that we received the discount. I was very upset about it and pointed it out to her. She said sorry she didn't see it. I said bullshit! The Bar manager took a very long time to correct the issue. The nice thing about Applebee's is that it is consistent across the country. We had a lovely server and she touched base with us as needed. We split a burger and the spinach artichoke dip which is plenty of food, no leftovers. To me a 3 is where I start my review and it's a solid establishment. Had to stop to eat in the area after a job and had a wonderful experience. Totally unfamiliar with the area, we picked Applebee's since it's usually a safe bet. Kristin was our waitress and she was super friendly, attentive, and on point with everything. She was accommodating to us wanting to customize the combo plates and let us know upfront about any extra charges. We didn't care, it's what we wanted but we're happy not to get surprised. Went to the Applebee's in Biddeford for my sisters birthday on December 5th. Our waitress was great but the food was horrible. I had chicken parmigiana and it was burnt on the edges and very hard. Big disappointment. One of my sisters ordered fried fish and it looked good but you could tell it had been fried a couple of times because that also was very hard and seemed like it was put in the fryer a couple of times. My other sister ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken fingers and the macaroni and cheese was horrible. It had no taste at all. Had a great experience at this location! My friend & I walked in & was instantly greeted by the host who even held the door in for us! We got seated right away and was greeted by our sweetie server (Emily) within a couple of minutes. Since my friend was a vegetarian and allergic to a few items, we had to have Sean, the manager come over and provide some options for her to choose from. He was flexible to check to see what was possible for her and came back to let her decide. She ended up choosing pasta with a customized sauce and I ended up with a petite sized sirloin steak cooked perfectly! I have always been very happy with the Applebees chain. Consistantly good food at a good price. Recently I met my daughter and she was waiting for me. I waited around 20 minutes for the waitress to come over to just get a water. Ten minutes later the water arrived. She didn't notice we only had one menu and asked us if we were ready so we shared the menu and found something. It seemed like it took forever to come out. As our waitress was doubling as bartender she was preoccupied... it the bar wasn't really very busy. When my meal finally came it was not what I ordered. She asked me if I wanted to eat my sides and she would bring out my meal when it was done. As I was starving by this time, ate the sides but wasn't hungry for the main course. By this time I just wanted out! The manager did come over and apologized and charged me half price for my meal. Then the wait wa on to get the bill. Inattentive staff, carefree attitude. Rarely do I encounter such phenomenal customer service. We had to sit at the bar which normally I wouldn't find ideal but we were hungry and didn't want to wait. Lisa waited on us and was fabulous. Very warm and friendly and when I was disappointed with my salad, she took the time to go to the kitchen and get me more greens. The manager also came out and spoke to us, in fact he was running food for the wait staff...very refreshing! We don't really frequent Applebee's much at home because the menu isn't very friendly for those trying to eat healthy. However, when we are back in So.
