I came to Tyler, Texas, with 2 other family members, to visit our Sister, a Retired Air Force Sergeant, that was placed in a VA Nursing Home, in Tyler, Texas, too chec/visit with her, when myself and my Sister-In-Law arrived it was 30+ minutes to an hour for someone to greet us, and it wasn't that many people inside the restaurant, but there wasn't many places open when we arrived, then it took almost an hour for the food to get ready, so I gave the waiter a $25.00 tip to bring it to the car, but did not bring our drinks, and my brother had diarrhea the next day, from the chicken he ordered, we have to hold the people that work for you accountable, or if this behavior continues, someone might die of some horrific illness, Please fix this! read more

The wife and I just had a second enjoyable lunch after seeing a movie. We came in just after the lunch crowd had left. Wife ordered their basic hamburger, cooked exactly as she asked, with a good serving of hot fries. I ordered the fi so h & chips, with slaw and fries. The food is what you'd expect. What has made our dining experience worth writing is the service. Both times we were served by Nicole. She ensured she received our order correctly, brought the meal out while the good was still hot and ensured, twice, we were happy with the food. She stopped by several times to see if we were ready for drink refills. Nicole was personable, polite and very professional. Good employees in the food service industry are hard to come by these days. Nicole made our dining experience very enjoyable. We will be back...because of Nicole. read more

I have to say WOW, but not in a good way. To be specific and to the point, there were 4 of us there for my wife's birthday. Orders placed. 15 minutes of waiting for drinks, another group of 4 seated at booth behind us. Drinks delivered. 30 minutes later, no food for us, waiter tells us our food is next in the window and will be right out. Booth of 4 behind us gets all of their ordered food and has a complaint about how a steak is cooked. 25 minutes after their food order is corrected, half of our meal arrives. The should be signature cheeseburger baked into cheese? A knife had to be used to get the burger out because the cheese was cooked to cement quality. 30 minutes later, booth of 4 gets their ticket, pays and leaves. 10 minutes after that, the rest of our food arrives. Same ramshackle quality as their signature om cheeseburger. We are now at almost 3 hrs in, waiter remembers there's a birthday involved. Takes 20 minutes and ice cream comes mostly melted. Then after another 20, ticket arrives. We were charged for everything including the birthday brownie. Upsetting and furious does not begin to describe this treatment. And no offer, even after asking how long it takes to cook a salad (one of the meals) for any type of compensation. Thank you, but no thank you Applebee's. Seven minutes to get the drinks to the table and this seemed a bit long. Almost 27 minutes for our food to arrive at the table, not bad but not great. My family visited Applebees on a Sunday evening. Our server Scott was super friendly, patient, & answered all of our questions. We never had to flag him down, he came to our table the perfect amount. The food was great! My husband & son got the all you can eat riblets, shrimp, & boneless wings. They never had an empty plate, Scott was on top of making sure they always had food. Certainly not the case here. I saw a considerable effort from servers during a busy lunch hour to accommodate everyone in more than reasonable time. I sat at the bar this time, yet the bartender (despite 15 people seated around her) was able to get my food & drink out in no time while smiling and maintaining great conversation. That is about all that you can ask for at a restaurant like this. Now, the entertaining part. You never know what or who you are going to see at this location. All types of characters patronize Applebee's from the point of turning the food presentation from the Gordon Ramsey show to that of a comedy show. While enjoying my food, I must have nearly choked from laughter several times due to the interactions of Tyler's best drunks & folks that just want to have a good time. Its an interesting vibe that you'll have to see up close. If there is one issue I have with this Applebee's, its the exit within the rear. There is a small concrete barrier that prevents you from making a left turn onto the road. I understand why, given that there is a shopping mall, etc. Its just an annoyance. Altogether, a very fun & festive environment. Normally, I would rate Applebee's as average, yet after leaving with a full belly & with tears streaming down my face due to laughter, I can't say that I didn't have a good time here for lunch. read more

We ordered the blackened salmon and it barely had enough seasoning upon it. Hubby ordered the Cajun chicken and shrimp. The chicken was ok but the shrimp were frozen shrimp and it lacked Cajun seasoning as well. When leaving we asked if I could get a tea to go, took her 15 minutes to bring it out. I give two stars based on my earlier visits, when this place was awesome. But after my most recent visit, I'm done with Applebee's and they will never get another penny from me. We arrived at a decent time for dinner (7ish pm). Nobody was working the front door, we waited several minutes with several staff walking right by us before someone finally took us to a table. Way in the back, mostly empty room. We sat there for at least twenty minutes with menus, no drinks. The server working the room visited every other table at least 3 times in this time. Finally a manager (yes, manager) took our drink order. We sat there with empty cups for another 30+ minutes. No refills. The server was in the room multiple times, but never once came to our table despite is signalling and flat out calling him over. A server working the next room finally took pity on us and took our food order. Another 15ish minutes passed before we got the food, and it was cold. At this point I was just flat out disgusted. We finished what we could stomach of the meal, paid our bill and left. I seriously considered complaining but I was just angry and disgusted by the whole ordeal. We got some chicken on the way home. I'm giving it a five star because I have been coming here since 2012, and ever since I have no problem with it, I usually order Steak medium rare with mash potato's and it tastes good. I'm not a picky eater but I don't have bad taste either. As far as the atmosphere everyone seems to be having fun and have never seen anyone up to no good everything looks pretty chill, people are drinking, eating and laughing, everyone looks decent not trashy. Very disappointed in this place been going here for year no issues changing the artichoke dip for the queso. If you want me to pay extra don't mind but shall not be returning to this place as this is the first time they refused and never had issues here or at other applebees. Will not ever go to this one if not already had my friend order I would have left. According to the manager this is new since he worked here not a fan. My husband has been sweet enough to bring home my favorite salad. the Oriental Chicken Salad. Well, I do not know what happened, but it was awful. The lettuce looked old and all I got was the pieces of stalks, which I might add were hidden underneath. It was skimpy and the chicken had a peculiar taste. I could not eat it. I do NOT recommend this specific establishment. At first the service was great until I need a second drink to which it took awhile. I needed the drink because of how dry the fries were. As I received my second drink, I quickly ingested it and asked for a third drink and the person I sat with asked for another drink as well. We never received or drinks. First, the 11/27/2017 review was one I finally got around to writing after a visit from several months ago. My wife and I were driving around one night recently, trying do decide where to eat. Getting frustrated, I suggested giving Applebee's another try. I really wanted their ribs. We went in, and the first thing I asked was if they were able to actually serve ribs this time. Had they not, we would have just left. They had ribs, so we stayed. Maybe there is new management now. I asked, but our waitress said she had only been there a few weeks, so didn't know. I can say that every single aspect of this recent visit was wonderful, from the service to the food. As much as I'd love to give 4 or 5 stars, I'm still a bit put off by the fact that nobody from the restaurant or corporate headquarters bothered to contact me about my online survey. We waited about 15 minutes for our order to be taken. We ordered cheese sticks before meal and Fiesta lime chicken. After our order was placed around 12:15, we waited and waited and waited. Tried giving applebees another chance after past bad experiences. Went during the lunch rush, but it wasn't overly busy. My wife and I both ordered off the lunch menu, with chips and salsa as an appetizer. 10 minutes later we flag our waitress down to inquire about our appetizer. 5 minutes later it finally comes out, but after a couple of bites we send it back. Chips were ice cold and stale, and the salsa was an insult to Mexican food. Entrees were ok, but not great. My wife had the chicken club sandwich and I had a bacon cheeseburger. No refills on our drinks, and when I pulled up our check on the portable kiosk, they had overcharged for both our meals. OK, mistakes happen, but our waitress acted like we were being unreasonable to expect not to be overcharged. Took almost 15 more minutes to get it straight while our waitress chit chatted with another table.
