Walking in it looked like a nice steakhouse, more upscale than a Texas Roadhouse. I was greeted, and I chose to sit at the bar. Bartender was very friendly. Ordered a Long Island, it was okay (manager made it). More sweet/sour than I prefer. I ordered a filet and shrimp. The shrimp was delicious, and the steak was cooked to medium rare as ordered. I recently visited Saltgrass Steak House for the second time and once again it did not disappoint, this time I decided to try the chicken fried steak and it was absolutely on point, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor, the mashed potatoes paired perfectly with it and really completed the meal, the customer service was A1 from start to finish, the staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right without being overbearing, and the restaurant itself was nice and tidy which made the dining experience even more enjoyable, overall this second visit confirmed that Saltgrass is a solid spot and I will definitely be coming back again. read more

Our friend was in town for a week, and he was really wanting a good steak. Since neither of us had been here, we thought we'd give it a try. It was a busy night, with some college ball going on, so we ended up sitting in the bar to watch what we could and didn't really have to wait too long. We started out with some drinks. Of course, I had to try their Midnight Rider Old Fashioned, and gotta admit, it was pretty tasty. My wife ordered a Amaretto Splash cocktail. For an appetizer, we ordered the Ranger Rattlers, which is their version of a jalapeño popper. Not bad but nothing to call home about. However, they brought over a honey wheat bread (or something like that) and man... that was a mighty fine loaf! Warmed perfectly to melt that butter. A good warm freshly baked bread is a known kryptonite of mine. So good! Lance and I ordered some ribeyes with a baked potato, which was delicious. My wife ordered the Shrimp Artichoke Pasta, which I might have sampled a bite or two, and yeah... it was damn good. Overall, it was great to catch up with an old friend. The drinks were good and the food was fine. Service was a bit slow that night, where our server apologized a couple of times, but it wasn't crazy. No FOX network in the restaurant so no game, a dried out ribeye, and other fried items mixed in with the fried mushrooms set a poor tone. The great server added a star back. This was not a great visit. We sat at a table in the bar rather than waiting. We did receive fresh bread almost immediately but we had a long wait. It wouldn't have been an issue except the servers/bartenders were playing around behind the bar, the bar was dirty, and tables/bar were not cleared/cleaned when diners left, so not a good look at all. They forgot our appetizer and didn't try to charge us for it, so we just wrote that off. Otherwise the meal was good. We all have off days...I'll chalk it up to that and be back. read more

I called to place an order for a school team who's traveling to Tyler, Texas. They've had Saltgrass for 3 consecutive years when they travel. I was told they didn't have enough product to feed 30-35 guests. We only wanted burgers. I inquired about chicken sandwiches instead and was told by management they were waiting on a response from Edgar. Trucks arrive on Monday with product. You don't have 35 burger patties? I was informed there was "plenty of chicken". I let Meghan know chicken sandwiches would work and I needed a price. I followed up a few hours later and received a response from Meghan: "I guess we are not doing it" What type of establishment turns away paying guests? We never even got seated. My husband and I were there on 6/6/26 at around 4pm. The restaurant was not busy at all, so we figured there would be no wait. We got to the desk and told them it was just us two and were promptly told it would be a 25 minute wait. I did ask why and the guy at the desk did not know - just that his manager instructed him to have people wait. We sat down in the front to begin our 25 minute wait because we figured it would be worth it and we would be seated first since we were the only ones waiting. Shortly afterwards, another couple came in and were told the same thing. They also questioned it but sat down to wait. A little while after that, a party of 6 came in and also sat down for around a 30 minute wait. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, a couple came in and got seated right away. Then, the couple that came in right after we did got seated. We were so mad, we just left. If I could have given this restaurant zero stars, I would have. We will likely not return, which is a shame since we have always had good experiences there. We've been coming for years celebrating birthdays and other special occasions. We started with the range rattlers, which were absolutely delicious! Then had the ribeye (highly recommend). We couldn't leave without trying the carrot cake, and it did not disappoint! We sat in the bar area so we could keep up with the college football game. While deciding what to have for our dinner, we ordered our drinks. Went with a friend on Christmas shortly after opening and were able to get in quickly in a booth as requested. Steaks were made correctly. Food all together was really good! Service was good too. Only issue I was having was from signing up with the card after purchasing it for them. But was able to get it to work later. Place was full and clean. Stopped in the Tyler Saltgrass steakhouse for my husbands birthday, his steak was excellent, service was excellent, however my patty melt was terrible, I have had one here before and it was so good, I should have sent it back, but I was so hungry, I ate it anyway, it was burnt, they had to have know, because they tried to hide the burnt side of the bread inside, the burger was dry and overcooked as well, not much cheese or onion, felt like a brick in my stomach. On Sunday 10/13/25 at lunchtime we were seated promptly but our server, Macy, was overworked and couldn't get to our table promptly so a kind gentleman took care of our drinks and brought bread. Under the circumstances, Macy did a fantastic job. I ordered the 12 oz Ribeye. I love a good ribeye steak. Unfortunately, I don't know what this was. I enjoyed the bread which was quite sweet, almost like dessert and I enjoyed the delicious potato soup. It all went downhill from there. My steak was thin but cooked as requested. The green beans were cold. The first bite of steak was way too salty for my taste but I continued with my meal. By the time I was 4 or 5 bites into my steak I had to stop. The salt and pepper were just too overwhelming. That's all I could taste. It was nauseating and I had heartburn by the time I got to my car. I don't get heartburn, typically. My tablemate who thinks I'm too sensitive and picky about my food was sure it was just me. I hate to complain and make waitstaff feel bad. I really do. And I hate to send food back to the kitchen. It's just so wasteful. But I should have. Instead, I asked Macy for a 'to go' box so my tablemate could enjoy my meal later. Then came the bill which my tablemate should have put on his reading glasses and examined more closely before adding his normally extremely generous gratuity. Because if he had, he would have discovered that he needed to reduce the gratuity by the 18% that had already been added without his knowledge. So Macy, job well done and I hope you feel well compensated for what I know was a hard days' work for you with the large party you were also responsible for! Please enjoy your 68% gratuity because it's the last tip you'll ever receive from us. We won't be returning to SALTgrass in Tyler again. P.S. My tablemate reheated the remainder of my meal for his dinner later that evening. He sat down at the table and dove in. While my back was to him as I watched the evening news I heard a strange sound coming from the dining area. He was choking. Not because he swallowed wrong but because he couldn't breathing from all the pepper and salt on his first bite.
