I wasn't impressed at all this visit, on a Monday. There was loitering in the parking lot, intoxicated people walking around in the parking lot, inside I thought I was at Texas Roadhouse, but soon realized that it wasn't peanut shells all over the floor, but napkins that were being walked on by waitresses as well as patrons. Then entering your restroom, there was scattered litter in the floor and upon washing my hands it took 1:15 for the hot water to reach the sink. I did speak to the manager, however the easiness of saying "someone didn't show up" was given... so I realize it was all left in the wind. Well I went to the Applebee's on Cockrell Hill in The Sunday, I have been seeing this advertisement about the steak and then you get 12 shrimp for a dollar when you order a steak dinner I didn't want to go to the one in Cedar Hill because that place is crazy never had good service and the food is always in bad shape to me, a friend said let's go to The one on Cockrell Hill, I said OK we went and I really was expecting to have a hard time I said no way will they be able to cook a good steak. Friday March 1st. Came here with my wife and son for dinner really wanting some Riblets. Unfortunately I missed the all you can eat riblets by a couple weeks. No harm, no foul. Ordered the babyback rib platter, wife ordered the cedar plank chicken and my son a plain burger. About 10 minutes after the order was put in, our waitress came back to inform me that they had run out of the riblets. I hemmed and hawed for a bit and settled for the rack of ribs. The appetizer from my wife and sons 2 for $20 deal came and went soon followed by my ribs. I was looking something up on my phone for the group while waiting for the rest of the meals to come out. No more food came out so while my ribs still had some warm to it, I started to eat. After a while it became the wonder of us all if we were going to see their food before I finished. Weird is that our waitress seemed to disappear although we saw here entering and exiting the kitchen. I don't want to assume but I think she knew things had gone south. After I finished and we sat talking having decided we will be talking to a manager At just over 50 minutes into our meal, I see a manager approach our table. He sat down and introduced himself as Preston. I asked if he knew what was happening and he had just found out and rushed over. He talked professionally and handled the situation in a very professional manner. The food came out shortly after Preston's visit and all was prepared in good order. Our waitress also followed up a little more frequently to ensure all was well. Preston made a couple more stops to ensure things were back on track. We will revisit this Applebee's to Preston's request to show us that this is not how things typically run here. The service on this visit gets less than 0 stars however, the way Preston handled the situation and his professionalism brings this review back up to 3 stars. Ate here on Sunday. The place should not have Ben open! The tables and chairs all needed to be thoroughly cleaned. All were sticky. Even moved to another table. It was worse. Before we (6 of us) could even order drinks, we were given a L O N G list of what they DID NOT have! No ice cream, but deserts were discounted. Many menu items were not available. I ad o leave and go to McDonalds to get a Strawberry shake! I ordered the kids ( I'm over 70) shrimp n broccoli . I usually come here with friends at least five times a month and get drinks after work and NEVER have i ever had any problems when using my slightly bent ID i asked for the manager and he seemed really nonchalant about the whole situation i was very impressed by his awesome management skills he said this was applebees policy i wanted to know when this took effect because i always use this same id you could clearly tell it was real it was not damaged to where you couldnt tell. I have been disappointed by Applebee's on several occasions but my latest experience was the worst. Why keep going back, you may ask. I go back because the people around me like the all day happy hour. I always go with the intention of having a drink and then end up trying my luck with the food. On this particular occasion, I had received an email boasting about free kids meals on the 4th of July and an email advertising $3 Grey Goose/Cranberry drinks. We ordered the drinks and checked out the menus. My son saw the new "Neighborhood Nachos"and immediately decided that he had to have them. The picture and the description both lead you to believe that you will get tortilla chips covered with queso, other cheeses, seasoned beef, pico de gallo, sour cream, and jalapenos. There is also a non-pictured option that lets you replace the beef with fiesta lime chicken. They also have this new "taco topped queso" which is described as queso topped with seasoned beef, served with tortilla chips. I usually get the classic sampler with something subbed for the mozzarella sticks, so I decided to get the taco topped queso in its place this time. When our waitress came back, we attempted to order what we wanted. My son said that he wanted the neighborhood nachos as an appetizer. The waitress confirmed that he wanted chicken nachos, but my son replied that he wanted the beef. The waitress explained that this store no longer carried beef. This was particularly strange because the nachos were pictured with beef, the description offered beef, and this was a brand new menu item. My son told her chicken was fine. When it was my turn to order, I told her that I wanted the classic sampler with beef topped queso instead of mozzarella sticks. She immediately went into a spiel about how I couldn't substitute anything. I asked if she was new and she replied that she was new to the store but not the company. I asked her to attempt to put my order in altered but if they said that I couldn't do that, give it to me the regular way. Next, I asked if both sizes of kids meals were free or if it was only the smaller size. She explained that they were no longer giving out any free meals, this ended last month. I showed her the email advertising that kids eat free on 7/4. She said "ok, but this is the 1st I have heard of this." It baffled me that my son couldn't get beef on his nachos but that I could get beef-topped queso. I started an online order to see if beef was an option. It was. I found the waitress and informed her of my findings. I heard her ask the staff "Hey do y'all have beef here because the store in Austin doesn't." Fast forward to receiving the food. My son's appetizer came out with the food and was not hot. It also was not as described/pictured on the menu. They were just beef and cheese nachos. My son informed the server of this and was given little cups of sour cream, pico de gallo, and jalapenos. The rest of the food was typical Applebee's food. When it was time to pay, I noticed that the $3 Grey Goose and cranberry drinks were showing up with a $8.69 price tag. The waitress explained that the drinks were not on any kind of special. Once again, I pulled out my phone to show her an email from the company that SHE works for! Applebee's please train your staff on your menu offerings and specials. First of all my hubby and I wanted to eat out and give them one more try after about 8 months of not eating there! We are seated and in about 20 minutes and 3 people taking our drinks order waiter or waitress never come back to get our order. Then a while later we hear the couple in the next booth cancel their salad order that never came. We remembered why we hadn't been there in so long so proceeded to leave. We left my hubbys wallet on the table by accident and headed to roadhouse when he realized he left his wallet we headed back and called the restaurant Applebees told them we were coming back for the left wallet then couldn't find it of course and we arrived to not find it either! When people take a man's wallet that has his everything in it with no regard to what they are stealing I hope and pray they get a guilt that never leaves them till they do the right thing! The cameras in the restaurant should have seen who took his wallet but of course they would not let us watch the video! If you read this and you are the one who (found) his wallet please call 903 509 4605 we will pick it up thank you! Overall we had a pleasant time here the other night. We went Friday night and imbibed in the $1 PBR beers and $2 margaritas and took advantage of the 1/2 off appetizers after 9 pm during that night. Our waiter Riley was very polite and the management was professional, too. No major complaints, but I think had we gone outside of the 1/2 off appetizers time, or during lunch or dinner, it wouldn't have been as good. 11 years ago, I swore I would never return to this Applebys, but decided to give it one more try this past weekend. I really wanted it to have improved since then, but it has not. First indication, dirty dishes sitting on several tables. Host couldn't figure out where to sit us. Filthy upholstery on the seat backs, filthy wood on the window sills. Riblets/chicken strips all you can eat - tough chewy ribs, chicken strips with too much breading, cold fries. It's a shame to me, I remember this Appleby's as one of our favorite places back in the 90's. Family used to love it. Never, ever again. read more

It took A LOT to motivate me to write this review. I do NOT like to complain, I DO like to give people the benefit of the doubt. BUT...What we experienced last night at the Tyler TX Applebee's was SO BAD-words cannot begin to express the misery and danger to our health. Yes... food poisoning and all night vomiting etc...was the result...but that is not the point of this review-we will take THAT subject up with the manager- when we are strong enough to offer him the opportunity to make it right-at least not CHARGE us for the bad experience. The least they can do is give us our money back. Whether they do or do not will change nothing. What I have failed to say for a LONG time: This restaurant is not clean. The smell inside the restaurant is nothing less than putrid. I wish now that when someone at the table asked the rest of us -"what exactly is that smell in here?"- I wish we had left and gone to Whataburger instead. We've gotten bad food and bad service here before...But we always shrugged it off, accepted not getting what we paid for! (what is wrong with us???) and left a normal tip. We are HUGE tippers for GREAT service. That was NOT the case last night. But we did leave "normal" tips on the 2 checks at our table. This alone shows we were trying to do our part in the exchange. As customers we are supposed to enjoy ourselves right? We are to-come in-sit down-order-eat-pay/tip and leave all in a friendly fashion. WE DID OUR PART. The service the last dozen times we have been in there has been terrible. TYLER APPLEBEES KITCHEN STAFF NEED TO BE REPLACED OR RETRAINED. So much that is going on is NOT the servers fault and it creates SO MUCH extra work for the server-he cannot take care of his job. Instead of getting better it is worse than ever. Last night food was delivered to our table of 8 in stages. Parts of plates missing (burger and bun no lettuce tomatoe pickle onion...just the meat and bread...and when requested items missing were finally delivered it was pointless meat and bread ice cold.... Refilling our waters and teas was just too much to ask of our server. Who by the way was running all over the restaurant while other employees just stood around... We will NEVER eat at the Tyler Applebees again and I will make it my mission to make sure anyone in any group I am a part of never steps foot in the door again. In our social/professional group we represent 2 huge entities in Tyler. Lots of customer business and lots of revenue. I wish I had a video of the whole table experience and the subsequent food poisoning suffering we went through because it would go VIRAL- I am sure. Talk about "starting a conversation..." Customers....don't just go to this disgusting place and then say nothing like we have before....we were wrong and I wonder how many other are doing the same? This is SERIOUS and Tyler has MANY restaurants who are SO MUCH better. I am SO thankful I did not trade plates with my elderly mom. She would have needed to be hospitalized for sure. If you do go there and the food is "hinky" smelling or not the proper temperature-DO NOT EAT IT. You can bet we are reporting our experience to the health department!!! Stuff missing. I don't know at this point if it is a Dasher problem, or a restaurant problem. This is my 6th or 7th (est.) +/- order from Applebees since the beginning of Covid (Mar. 2020). Actually, past deliveries tells me this was NOT the DoorDasher employee's fault. This is a restaurant problem. We've tried so hard to keep up with supporting local restaurants, Applebee's being among one of them. I LOVE it that we can get a quality meal...when we get it. It's been important to some of us to support restaurants we want to 'make it through', no matter what that means. We will order to the house. We will order from you! But, please,...please, pay attention to my order. If I order a specialty salad and ANYone notices that there is only cabbage and NO lettuce, please bring this to someone's attention before it comes to someone's house.(past mistake) This time, I don't know how I could have made it easier with "extra something", OFFERED AS A CHOICE!...not 'straying' or being difficult... and... We went for lunch and a few of us ordered from the lunch menu that states the food is free if not out in 12 minutes or less. One ordered a BBQ wings appetizer. The appetizer never came out and Bethany our server apologized and said she had given the BBQ wings to the wrong table but had these other buffalo wings in her hand and asked her if she wanted the buffalo wings to instead. She let bethany know to cancel them completely. The food came out about 30 minutes later and I asked for the ranch I ordered and it was never brought to me. The table beside us ordered a raspberry tea and I heard Bethany say "I'm sorry I got you the wrong tea. Do you want to keep drinking that one or do you want me to bring you the tea you ordered?" Uhhhh I think he wants the tea he ordered. Lol we ended up calling the manager and she corrected the checks and some of my friends got the meals for free like the menu stated and when Bethany came by to check us out, she snapped credit cards out of our hands and when she came back, I thanked her and I got a "mmmm" response. I'm a patient and understanding person and if it would've been a busy day at Applebee's, I would've been even more understanding but the attitude that came with the service was definitely unnecessary and unprofessional. We ate dinner at Applebee's and had a terrible experience! The waitress took 10 minutes to bring out 2 of our 6 drinks. It took another 10 minutes to get the other 4, and one of them was wrong. When our appetizer came out it was cold and had to be taken back to be reheated. Our food finally came out 45 mins later (our waitress didn't come back to our table again until then.). My wrap was old and tasted terrible and my husband's food was cold. I could go on and on, but all the other reviews have covered it. Terrible food, management and service. My brother and I tried to go into Applebees on Broadway today at 11am. We didn't even make it in the second set of doors before this young man started yelling at us that we needed a mask. We both had one but this young man was so very rude and yelling at us that we just turned around and walked out. If the young man had just stated nicely that we had to have it on to walk to the table (which by the way makes absolutely no sense ) we would have put them on. But for some reason he felt the need to scream at us. By the way we were the only customers at that time. I'm sick of people thinking they have a right to mistreat people. I have gone to Applebee's a few times and had okay experiences, but tonight was god awful. Our waitress took forever to get everyone's drink and I didn't get mine till 30 mins after everyone else did and when I brought it up to her attention it took another 5 mins. My friends ordered their appetizer and it came out at 2 different times. We sat there for over an hour and a half just waiting for the meal alone. One of my friends never got her food. We were the only ones there and severe employs just walking around. When we finally got our food the fries we cold and the meet was undercooked. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! This place is so very dirty. The bathroom was sticky and dirty. As I walked back to my table, I passed by the kitchen and couldn't help but notice the nasty floors in there. The carpet throughout was dirty. We had 3 different waiters. The only positive was that the 3 waiters were nice. Nothing against them (except service was a little slow). I ordered a strawberry daiquiri that was way too sweet and no taste of any alcohol. I had to send it back. My food was barely warm. My friend ordered a "loaded" potato soup. They brought her a small baked potato instead. She said it was ok and kept it. Then they charged her an extra dollar for the "loaded" potato, when they were out of bacon.
