This location has gone so far downhill in a decades' time. I loved it when I was a teenager...and the pasta and burgers were still awesome during the early 2020s Covid era. But I took my mom out for a birthday dinner last week and we were vastly disappointed. The prices keep going up with supply, demand, and the state minimum wage increasing. But the quality has gone way downhill. French fries are nowhere near where it used to be. They are shoestring and very small. The bacon burger wasn't too bad - good flavor and good tomato, cheese, lettuce. Mom's alfredo was dry with a capital D. There was hardly any sauce - hardly worth $17+, let alone half. Servers are still pretty good, but there is major improvement needed back-of-house. We will likely not be back :-( read more

My wife got food poisoning from the shrimp that she had with the Tex-Mex bowl, probably under cooked. My sons kids meal burger was also under cooked and when we asked them if we could get it redone they tried to charge us for another kids burger meal. The only thing that was good was the waitress. The menu consists of almost only high carb and high calorie plates. Even the salads are high in calories according to their menu. Food isn't that flavorful. Prices are high for how little these dishes must cost the restaurant to make. But sometimes it's just a convenient spot to stop with others, especially if you're hungry before heading to the Majestic theater right behind the restaurant. I think we all know what to expect from Applebees at this point. On my most recent visit I ordered the Four Cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders. The pasta and sauce was bland. I came in with my 6 year old son tonight and had the pleasure of being served by Melissa H. During the dinner hour. She was AMAZING!!! The most personable and friendly server I have ever encountered! She was so wonderful to my son and was attentive during our whole meal! She is truly an asset to the Union Gap Applebee's location and we will surely return just because of her kindness and smiles.  You guys have something special in her as an employee and I hope it's noticed. We are pleased with our dinner at Applebee's tonight. Hubby had a truly perfectly cooked steak .. I had Fiesta Chicken ... Everything was delicious with the one exception of very overcooked broccoli ... Service was excellent... very prompt and friendly server. Yes... we'll come here again. We've only went once but won't be going back. I try to go twice before I leave a review but not this time. I ordered a classic cheeseburger with fries and hubby ordered the bourbon street steak with mashed taters and a side of the 4 cheese Mac n cheese. My burger was gamey. It tasted like frozen and thawed and then frozen again cheap pre made patties. I have a great pallet so thought it was just me but hubby had some and said the same thing. The burger wasn't good and I didn't eat much at all. The fries were salty but good. His steak was a bit overcooked but the taters were good. The 4 cheese mac is just penee pasta now with some thin watery Alfredo sauce and bacon bits, cheese and looked like green onion on it. It is totally not the same as it was the last time we visited Applebees. We will not be going back to this restaurant to say it lightly. I wouldn't recommend it in Yakima as there are hundreds of restaurants in the area to choose instead. Good thing was the water tastes great even though our waitress didn't refill it until we asked her for more after she brought the bill. read more

My husband asked for hot cocoa with milk. He was served it, changed his mind. Asked for lemonade. Then he thought it tasted weird. Then finally settled on water. Our server was very patient the entire time. Our food was served in a very timely manner. She answered "No one turned in a phone" "CLICK." Sheesh!!! How rude! She could had of least said "Well what is your name & a contact number?" Or "wow! Hope you find it." Hit and miss I suppose. The server was very rude and often made comments that made us feel uncomfortable. It also felt like she treated us differently compared to the other customers. I don't know if it's because of the way that we looked but it made us upset how she acted with us. She also would act very annoyed when we would ask for a refill. This is the last time I dine in here. I may go to the bar because usually more experienced competent people are hired in the bar. From the minute I got there everyone seemed like their heads were in the clouds. The hostess was a joke. she didn't make eye contact didn't say hi, I asked her if we could have a booth...wasnt sure if she heard me... so I stood up and said more loudly...can we please get a booth and my daughter get a booster? No answer. She's staring at a seating chart but there is about 6 booths open. We follow her to a booth and she turns to walk away- still hasn't said anything...I said "MAM" really loudly and she turns around and gives me a dirty look and I say "can I get a booster please". So irritating. I didn't catch her name but our servers name was Juan. And what a trainwreck. He kept interrupting me during the order- just staring at his tablet typing and not listening to me. The whole time he was just so snippy and rude. I tried to order a drink that was on special for $5 and he was like pushing the margarita and I said very specifically- i just want one and is it $5 cuz that's what I want to spend and he says "yea yea it's like getting 2 in 1" and I very specifically remember this. Because I thought why would he say that when I just said I only want one?the drink was $10. So then I had to keep repeating myself I said at least 5 times that I wanted all of our chicken dry with sauce on side and I had ordered boneless wings for my daughters and bone in for me. He kept saying boneless after I said bone-in. I had to repeat it so many times cuz I knew he wasn't listening! Anyways he put the sauce on my daughters boneless wings. the manager brought them to the table and I sent them back because she can't have buffalo sauce! They are only 3 and 6! He comes back to the table and says "oh I thought you said you only wanted yours with sauce" WHY WOULD I WANT HOT SAUCE ON MY KIDS CHICKEN? I didn't get a single apology...in fact I apologized and the manager said "oh don't worry about it." Jesus...this was a painful experience. I have never met anyone so flippant, clueless and lost in his own world. Listen- there's a reason why your tips average less than 10%. read more

Very disappointing! We have come here three times this year just hoping it will be better since we have liked other Applebees. It never was better. The food quality has continued to slide but worst of all, the service is terrible! Waited twice over 20 minutes for a drink. No-one has checked for refills or to check on us. This last visit, I requested a couple more napkins from the lady that served our meal. Never happened. Where is the manager? Almost half the staff is standing or sitting around on their phones. The only reason this place received a 1 was bc of the hostess, Bobby Jo; she was the only person there who was busting her butt/multitasking. Servers were doing the bare minimum and management was too busy chit chatting by the bar in between interviewees. While waiting for our food, one manager loudly and quite rudely voiced her negative opinions about the interviewees that had come in earlier that day. The restaurant had less than 10 tables and half of our order (2 top) went to the wrong table before making it to our table. My husband asked for a salad with no tomatoes in place of the fries, unfortunately, he received fries and tomatoes on his salad. To top that off off, he was charged full price for the salad rather than the cost of a substitution. The server was clearly in the weeds with 3 tables and her phone. After asking three times for water (which sat empty for 10+ minutes) and ranch dressing (that didn't arrive with his salad), I literally had to elevate my voice to get her attention and ask a forth time. I have never left $0 as a tip, but today was a first. My husband was so upset with the service and the attitude that he didn't even want to finish his meal.... he just wanted to leave. As we were leaving, we thanked Bobby Jo for her hard work. Not only that, we went to an ATM, got cash and went back to tip her $20 on a $23 bill so that she knew she was appreciated. Management really needs to reevaluate their part in running that establishment; being a role model (not standing around talking), supporting their staff and expediting food to ensuring it goes to the correct tables. read more

We went to Applebee's last night and I had the unlimited ribs and let me tell you they were not the quality I expected for this restaurant.
