I just do not understand how this place cannot get it right. Watsonville doesn't have very many restaurants to chose from and this one isn't helping that issue. The service on a Saturday afternoon for lunch was absolutely awful. Taking our order took a long time, waiting for drinks to come out took a long time, Check-backs weren't made for refills, the food took a long time to come out. We had a party of 8. Over an hour after arriving, our food finely came out. However only 4 of the 8 of us got our food. It was another 20 minutes waiting for the rest of us to receive our food. When the food finally came out, 3 of us who had ordered bacon cheeseburgers, had burgers with no bacon on them. The bacon never arrived after it was requested. The food took so long, part of our party had to leave before the dessert that was included in the combo came. The manager didn't have a clue about what was going on, and we witnessed two elderly ladies come in and wait in the lobby area for 8 minutes un-helped. No one ever came to seat them, before they decided to leave. Given our dining experience, probably a wise choice on their part. We will NEVER be going to this Applebee's again. read more

There is a certain bartender.... who thinks its o.k. to cut people off just so her girlfriend can have a seat at the bar. I have sat waiting for service from this bartender on several different occasions for as long as 25 minutes. Nasty food. Manager was not helpful. I order Mac and cheese with honey chicken. It was so nasty and dry. The bread was hard and cold. First time I had their honey chicken so not sure if it's suppose to be that sweet but I couldn't handle it. Seriously felt like I was eating sugar pasta. I got some other alcoholic drinks like margarita, Long Island, and craft beer. Beer was flat and the two other drinks were not strong at all. Felt like virgin drinks. I felt bad for the waiter that was helping us because the manager kept rushing him to finish helping us instead of helping us herself or helping him with his other tables. She was so rude to him and gave him a write up for taking long trying to figure out what he over charged us with, even though SHE was the one who charged us double. In conclusion it was too annoying to figure out what they did wrong to we just settled with getting free drinks to make up what they over charged us. I've been here a couple of times before in the past, mostly when I was in high school. I went again last night not expecting much, because some of the reviews on here are correct. I'm glad to say they have improved!! Their customer service is great, waitress came around to check on us a couple times throughout our meal, and was always smiling. I can't remember exactly what my plate was called, but it was chicken on a skillet with a side of potatoes. The chicken came on grilled onions, and it was delicious! Potatoes were a little bland, but otherwise loved the dish. Definitely coming back! read more

Horrible service every time I go. There are a few mediocre servers, but mainly a regular person working there every time I go who has a horrible attitude. I think this Applebee's is fine. Always clean and I have had good service every time that I have come in. Food is like every other Applebee's I have gone too. If I could give 0 stars I would! I dont know why I came back to this place. My family and I went to dinner on Saturday night. When we arrived I was told the bar was first come first serve. We wanted to watch the Giants game so I started to walk to the bar and then the hostess told me that the bar section was "backed up" I asked her what she meant and she just kept saying the bar was backed up. So I asked her if could sit there and she says no.. I was ready to walk out and leave but I knew my parents were hungry so we waited for a table in the dining area. The dining area was not full and never is but there is always a wait and when you ask why its the same answer every time "We are under staffed" It took over 10 minutes for our drink order. So we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Once we our food arrived, we asked for an extra plate since my parents were sharing a meal (waitress knew that too) She had the nerve to take a big party's order before getting our plate so we sat there as the food got cold waiting on the extra plate. Waitress bought the extra plate and NEVER returned. Not once!!! She never came back to check on us, or to get drink refills....NOTHING We paid on the little computer device and left. I'm not sure if it is Applebees in general or just this location. I have tried multiple times due to convenient location next to the cinema, but it has gotten worse each time. The food and wait staff have been sub-par each time. The last time I went, I was with someone else and one plate was delivered 20 minutes after ordering, and the next one 15 minutes after that. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are a large party. We were a party of 10, arrived around 5pm after a graduation and before the restaurant was busy. It started filling up soon after we arrived. It took some time for our server to get the drink orders to our table. Finally, when she took our food orders (the restaurant was busier at this point) we were told large party orders would happen after all the smaller tables were served. We watched tables turn over 2 times before our food was served - well over an hour later. All the food had not been served by 7:30 when we had to leave to get our grad to the bus to get to grad night. During all of this we asked to talk with the manager, who never showed. This problem could have been avoided if we were informed of their large party food policy. We could have put our food orders in before the restaurant got busy. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a sit down restaurant. We were told it was a 10-15 minute wait. We were told "5 more minutes" until we felt that we were too invested to leave. Mediocre at best; fancier version of fast food with ever shrinking portions. Service has always been good, pleasant, happy to see us BUT they need to re establish a REAL mgt team, the staff is green and has no idea how to efficiently handle issues. Issues: large groups, we waited over an hr with 8ppl meanwhile several groups of 6 or smaller were sat, indicates poor dining room mgt skill, again not the staffs fault, they're green. Another issue: glass in a margarita, good thing it wasn't blended, still charged for it since it was more than half drank when the glass was identified, umm WTF. I originally ranked it a 2 but upped it to a 3 after writing this since I think the staff performs well and the food delivers on what you expect at this price point. The bar is fun, had one bad experience with a bar tender, she just wouldn't serve us or ANYONE who didn't appear to be a single man, the second bar tender seemed pretty annoyed with her too. Right now I'm waiting on a refill of chips that the "kitchen is working on"!?!? I didn't know refilling chips was so complicated. Service here is horrible and I've tried to like this place, it's bad every time I come here. We used the tablet to call our server and it took about 7 minutes and the manager walked by 3 times and saw the red light blinking and didn't even stop! Our food came out cold and wasn't even that good. And they had ants crawling on the table, gross!
