The Applebee's located at 1107 West Chester Pike, West Chester has a clean environment and the bartenders put a 'good air on', but except for two young women (Lila & Hailey) who are very conscientious, they all 'disappear' after your drink and/or food is delivered. Where do they go, you ask? You may think they are busy in the kitchen, I did, nope, they all sit in the last booth near 'car-side'. I hadn't noticed it until i had a request (another drink, follow-up on my food, food is incorrect) and then you show patience thinking they are handling something in the kitchen. Not at all, they are sitting & chatting or on their phones in a booth as tho they are a customer themselves, despite being on duty. Once, I noticed that the bartender was sitting in the last booth for 20+ min. & I had to go seek him out. I approached the table and stated what i needed & the bartender didn't get up to help (again, nope) another worker did. ‍ Bartender didn't say a word & as i returned to my seat at the bar...he continued to sit (in that booth). What other bar/restaurant can you go to for food/beverage & you are expected to tip as you would in any other bar environment but yet the bartender sits down 'elsewhere', not even within ear-shot. Bartenders earn their tips through good service, being attentive & conscientious & through light conversation with their customers. (I know, i've done the job.) Nope, not this crew!! Corporate, pls help us customers!!Ultimately you're in charge, or at least you should be, but there's no accountability!! I have cut back on my attendance to once every few weeks in the hopes that some changes have been made or that this age group finally understands what this job is about. Service over the phone is difficult , they use a automated system to take orders over the phone which is not efficient. I Showed up at the time I was told to be there and had to wait an additional, 20 minutes for all fryer items. Manager "went to check " on my order when I first arrived and never came back to let me know if it was ready or if it was going to be a few minutes late. I had to find a host to go check on the order . Simply jobs just not being executed , poor staff attitude and clearly poor systems in place . The carryout section is also where all the employees hangout and gossip . Hoping the food taste decent but at this rate if it warm I'll be happy. I really like this establishment, BUT I guess I'm going to have to seriously rethink that after my last visit. I decided to stop in the last minute before returning home - I should have just gone home. When I arrived,the host said just 1, and I agreed. He took me to my seating and thanked me. The waiter came up to me, didn't say what his name was or anything. I gave him my drink order and he left. The restaurant has a promotion going on, I was not told about but did hear other "people" who came after me were asked the question or told about the promotion. I placed my order, and he went away. My food arrived, and not once did he ask if I wanted a refill of my drinks. I guess I wasn't the right "color" for him, which is definitely fine with me because I will NOT start kissing your ass to make my eating out to be more rememberable. I really am starting to realize that people live on their pedestal, and if you're not the right color or in the same tax bracket or even above them then they treat you like you're beneath them. We met up with a relative over the weekend and this was the halfway point between their house and ours. Neither families were familiar with the area but agreed that outside dining was a must due to covid. Applebee's is where we ended up. First off let me just say I feel bad for all the restaurants and such that now have to change the way they do business to stay relevant during covid. But if you are going to offer outside dining at least make an attempt to do it well. Just throwing up a tent & rented tables and chairs is just not enough to warrant me to choose waitress service over take out ever again. First off the tent was in the grass and uneven and muddy. Every time I backed my chair up I ended up in a flowerbed. There was dirty napkins and food on the ground under our table attracting bugs. Everything about the experience felt cheap and I've been to bbq's outdoors at people's home that were more thought out. Meanwhile only a few yards away was a level parking lot that could have easily housed the tent and tables on a solid surface and still provide ample parking on the sides. For a chain restaurant I was expecting more from their outside dining. While I understand the challenges I do think there were much better options. However our server was good, a little chattier than I would have liked but good. When I go out to eat I don't expect to hear someone's whole life story unprompted while ordering. Maybe all this quarantine had him feeling super lonely. Hubby and I both ordered the 2 meals for $22 and were happy with them. We both got the burgers and they were seasoned and cooked well. I especially like that they took to the time to toast the bun. No complaints on the food. I did venture inside to use the restroom and they did have it set out well to social distance, however it's extremely dark in there. Even on a 90 degree bright and sunny day. This is my second time at this Applebee's in the last 6 months. For this particular visit I ordered from the two for $20 menu. I ordered boneless, mild Buffalo wings and two Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp Sizzling entrees. As usual, the Buffalo chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The entrees both came out pipping hot and still sizzling. Neither the shrimp nor chicken were over cooked. The potatoes were still crispy after 10 minutes. This was the best value for $20 ever. We got two meals and a drink and all three were extremely disappointing. I got the tipsy Cupid. It tasted delicious but with the amount of ice I got 4 sips and it was done. Disappointing. My son got chicken and Mac and cheese. He ate about 1/8 of it bc the rest had a nasty sauce on it. I tried to get the salmon but they wouldn't give me a baked potato instead of garlic mashed so instead I ordered a salad. The salad said it would have all kinds of yummy ingredients but there were about 2 slivered almonds and some bland light lettuce and a lot of red onions and tough chicken. I feel very hungry and unfulfilled following the meal. We told our server we were very unhappy. She tried to update us. I do not want to spend any more here!! I stopped here for lunch today. Billy was my server. Since it was pretty early in the day, they only had one server I think so everyone was seated in the same section. (There was another server by the time I left though) Unfortunately for everyone in our section, there was a family was an unruly little girl that banged constantly on the blinds and whined. I get that you can't always control your customers but the service was only so-so anyway. There was a girl that brought all of my food out and got me a drink refill; I wish I knew her name because she's the reason they got 3 stars instead of 1. She was awesome and brought everything in a prompt manner. I hadn't even taken a bite of my salad yet; in fact, I was still cutting everything up when billy came over to ask how it tasted! My response was "I just got it, I haven't even tried it yet." The final nail in my experience was the fact he brought me my check literally 4 minutes later. (Again, I literally had just taken my first bite or two!) I felt like I was being hurried out when the restaurant was only 1/4 full; not a great feeling to have as a customer when you just want to enjoy your lunch out. Those were the only times he came to my table besides taking my order and collecting the check. Definitely could use some retraining in regards to customer service and customer cues. It's a big pet peeve of mine to ask how something is when I obviously haven't even tried it yet! I've never had that issue in any Applebee's and my experience here really rubbed me the wrong way. I went here with my grandma for dinner & we both got the New Caprese Mozzarella Chicken. It was on 2 for 20$; we got boneless wings. The mild wings were to hot for her (she said mild). I use the "carside to go" several times per week. I am typically ordering 8-20 meals at a time. When I pull into the carside to go parking space I am always greated right away. I have been to this location multiple times and actually used to come in once a week with coworkers when Tyler was still a manager at the location, but I have not come in 4 months. I have never had any issues with them before. NEVER BEFORE HAS ANY ESTABLISHMENT (INCLUDING THIS ONE) TAKEN MY ID TO A PLACE THAT I CANNOT SEE IT AND HAD IT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. This is a safety concern in regards to identity theft. And I am 27 years old so its not like it my first or second time at the rodeo. However, on my last encounter I sit at the bar and ask for the cranberry lemonade vodka. The bartender Moira M asks me for my id which I did not have a problem with. She stands there looks at my id for at least a full minute if not too and then tells me she will be back, and it completely slips my mind that she had not given me back my id so I look on the bar as I was sure she must have placed it down without me seeing. NOPE! She had took my id with her. Well 5 minutes roll around and there is still no Moira, so I walk over to the hostess stand and ask the hostess if she can please go and bring the manager out for me. The bartender, Moira, finally shows up instead with no manager and tells me sorry I have to check all out of state ids. I asked her and it took that long for you to check it, don't you just scan the id and why did you have to walk away from me to do it? I then just asked her to bring out the manager. Steve Barnes is brought out in which case I asked him why she walked away with my id and he told me that she has to check all vertical or out of state ids with some book that they have. I was first a bit perplexed as I have a MD license...the MD border is less than 45 minutes from the location and would think they should know what a MD, DE, NJ, and PA license look like. I asked him why she had to take it to the back to check it and why she could not have brought the book out. He stated they could have, but did not. So I asked Steve for CORPORATE's number and he instead gives me the number for the franchise (The Rose Group) Area Manager, Dina Morgan. So I looked up corporates number and lodged a complaint with them as well as leaving a voicemail for Dina Morgan right on the spot. After finally being able to speak with Dina, who compared disappearing with an id as equivalent to disappearing with a credit card and someone taking the numbers off of that to buy product online, I have come to the conclusion that I have never ran into such an ignorant bunch. I have had my credit card information taken before, its an inconvenience because I do not enjoy having to make extended phone calls, but was taken care of immediately and was a minor inconvenience. I have spoken to someone who has had their identity stolen and it is a LONG and tedious process in which actually sparked me to subscribe to a service to monitor it. I tried to explain the difference to her, yet she seemed to feel she was completely correct. I would have known exactly what they were doing if they'd handed my id back to me and went and brought the book to do it in front of me. She told me it was Applebees policy, and I later had her clarify it was not Applebees' policy, but apparently the Rose Group policy. Either way I told her Applebees, The Rose Group, herself, etc was assuming liability if identity theft was to ensue (which could take years to come about) when they clearly did not have to. On top of that friends, coworkers, and family that I have spoken with have said that they were completely turned off by this policy and never had anything like this happen to them. Having worked in the restaurant industry in college, as well as the hospitality industry doing bottle service at clubs in Miami, and cocktail waitressing at Hard Rock Casino and MGM, I have never seen a policy like this before probably because most establishments do not want to assume the liability for it if something were to ensue. I understand wanting to ensure that you are not serving minors, but if you have such a hard time identifying illegitimate identification cards, you should probably just invest in an id scanner which validates the barcode. read more

She had chicken with quinoa and she wasn't impressed either. Best thing about our meal was Alyson, our server, who was very friendly. Not very happy with the service. Four came in to dine. Two, two for twenty's ordered, big appetizer in addition and our drinks. The big appetizer came but not the appetizers for the meals.. after a bit half the table received their meal but the other half did not. The waitress came aNd we explained the situation. A manager came a while later and we explained to her. Time kept passing and they came back twice and still no food. They said they woUld taKe the late order off the bill. CHips were also requested to go with the spinach dip. After the other half of the table finished their food, the second half finally received the appetizer. Time passed and then finally the food came. Appetite practically gone, so we were ready to leave. Took another while before we could get to go containers, then the check. We paid and left.
