Sedona taphouse is massive and we had dinner reservations for six of us to celebrate our friend's birthday. There is seating available indoors and outdoors. It was very busy (Friday night) which might have added to some of the issues that we encountered. Our server seemed a little new, but he did OK. Thankfully, we weren't in a rush because both drinks and food took a very long time. The dirty martini was described as "filthy" which was actually very funny, but not exactly what she was looking for. The other cocktails were fine and the food was mostly very good. The main weak spot food-wise: shoestring french fries served with the burger were ice cold. Otherwise everybody enjoyed their meals. We stopped here for a Monday night dinner as restaurants in the borough are mostly closed on Mondays. Considering the good reviews we thought we would give it a go. We ordered the burger and the crab cakes. For $18 the burger is ok but I can get better elsewhere for that price point. The crab cakes were just ok not much filler but over done with Old Bay. The garlic mashed potatoes were lackluster (not much garlic flavor) and even though this was about a week ago, I can't remember the veg. A quick look at the menu online reminds me it was a southwest corn preparation. Since corn is out of season at the moment, my bar was set low but this was clearly commercially prepared corn. I suggest an in-season alternative. Service was ok. Even though we arrived pretty early by the time 5 PM rolled around, the place was full with every table inside and outside (very nice weather for outside dining) was taken. We were lucky enough to snag a Friday night dinner reservation (highly recommend making a reservation- sometimes the wait is hours long) and got seated in a comfy booth. We started with the truffle fries and seared ahi tuna. Both were amazing. Good portion size of tuna over seaweed salad. I got the Thai glazed salmon for the second time and husband got a burger. Oh my, this place will definitely be on my regular rotation! I really loved the atmosphere as soon as I walked in! The place felt so warm and inviting! The bar was amazing and had an extensive list of choices. Lots so specialty cocktails as well. Smoked glass bourbons, martinis and wines. We had a large party and I did call ahead. When we have something to celebrate--whether it's making it through Monday or acing a Cardiac Catheterization test-- we often head to Sedona Taphouse for one of their amazing drafts and a divine taco platter. When I say their tacos are divine, I'm not speaking as a rookie! Just yesterday, I bit into one of their steak-chipotle tacos and experienced a 3 minute trip to culinary heaven. The Fiddlehead IPA draft didn't hurt either. And Meagan, our magically intuitive bartender, knew exactly what to recommend for my splendid spouse (who goes for what she calls "girly brews") and me, with my weakness for local, juicy IPAs! The place is laid out just as if I had designed it myself, with a long, long bar, plus plenty of tables for couples who just want to gaze into each other's eyes, or groups of 5, 6 or 9 who like to lift one after work or catch a yummy post-office meal.
