Gone are the days where I would beg my parents to go to our neighborhood Applebee's for a tasty bite to eat. Like seriously, looooong gone! What used to be a family staple, let's say back in the 90's, is now a last resort. Applebee's has changed a lot over the years but one thing that always stays consistent is their mediocrity. Unfortunately, this location is no different from the others I've visited. Everything from the food to the service is just meh. Don't be fooled by the full parking lot and large crowd of folks waiting near the entrance. They likely resulted in going to Applebee's for the same reason I do whenever I'm in Zanesville... there isn't much else. Beside a few locally owned outliers, this Applebee's is open late, has a full bar, and you know what's on the menu at all times. The customer service varies greatly depending on the day but if you're lucky you'll get a server that's a real people person and takes good care of you while you're there. Knowing that most of the food made here is frozen, shipped in bags, and thawed for serving, I never get my hopes up. Everything I tend to order is just average but the prices match. The "2 for $20" deal is always good and the happy hour specials aren't too bad. Applebee's is good at doing what Applebee's does. Very basic food at reasonable prices. read more

This has been the WORST Applebees me and my fiancé have ever been to. As soon as we walked in we instantly noticed large piles of dirt and trash clustered all around the place, multiple dirty tables that had dirty dishes and trash that were never touched the whole time we ate our meal. My fiancé ordered the new cheese burger and the cheese that goes on the skillet wasnt meted at all. I ordered the Cajun Alfredo with sausage with no peppers and they served me my pasta with 0 sauce completely the noodles were naked as soon as the wait sat it down I said something and she looked at me like I was crazy, 15 minutes past and she comes back with the smallest dipping cup of Alfredo sauce for my whole plate of food . Let's begin with the "host." He was very sloppily dressed and certainly didn't represent your brand as welcoming. In fact, I didn't realize (based on his attire) that he was the host. Upon seating us, I requested a clean up of the debris on the floor under our booth. All he did was scoop up a few pieces of food with his hand. No apologies, no real clean up. The server was pleasant. Food was okay, not much to recommend. The broccoli served to two of us was cold. The party adjacent to us was very loud, getting louder and louder as they consumed more beer. Probably should have hustled them out as most their food was consumed and a couple of the guests were just drinking. Not a good atmosphere. I used to love Applebees but honestly there has been a serious decline in brand quality, cleanliness, and offerings. Personally, I would have a serious talk with your staff. read more

We stopped at the Applebee's in Zanesville this evening. We were seated immediately and then waited. Fifteen minutes later - after 4 other tables that came in after us were waited on and we still had not seen a waitress - we left. On our way out we asked the young man that seated us if we could see talk to a manager. He informed us that the manger was busy and wouldn't have time to come talk to us. Okay, there are TONS of other options to go to, but if you are looking for an average last resort option that has decent food at sub-reasonable prices, this is the place. One good thing that I can say about this place is that their appetizers are really good. The wait is less to be desired, and the staff is fairly pleasant. When a restaurant chain puts a teenager in charge of seating they shod try to pick a teenager that will at least speak to people in a courteous tone. I went in and requested a table. Got on the list and gave her my number. Recieved a notification and went outside to wait. I was told 30-45 min wait. At 30 mins i checked yelp and was second in line. At 40 mins i was still second but went back inside. I waited for the hostess to come. When she returned i asked about our table. She told me i wasnt on her list and that i must have given my number to her wrong. I showed her the initial notification text. She started talking down to me. I asked was a table available and she said if we would wait another 30-45. We walked. Good luck if you plan to eat here. Btw there were several empty tables because of short staffing. read more

I travel a lot and have my personal assistant order food for us to pick up as we are pulling into town and Applebee's is usually a quick a good meal. What a disappointment this one was. Fried chicken salad had the cheapest croutons, unripe tomatoes and the meat not fresh. The worst though was my son-in-law's steak, (This was a carry out). He thought it might be pressed and formed, we all took some sample bites to see if we could at least figure it out. It wasn't spoiled, had a beef taste, but had the strangest texture I have ever experienced. None of us could eat one bite. I don't know if preservatives had 'changed' it or what! Are they keeping stock too long because of slower business? Are these 'steaks' acquired through new cheap sources? It's a mystery, for sure! read more

So I flagged one of the four down to get something to drink and he said well the waitresses usually gets the drinks and I say we've been here for 15 minutes so could you please get us our waters and haven't even seen our server yet , then when the server came he ask what we wanted to drink , I said we flagged down a hostess to get our drinks since we haven't even been acknowledged !!! Had the opportunity to visit Applebee's in Zanesville today. Not a good experience. Horrible service. Had to wait a lengthy time to be seated, even though not busy. The table was filthy. There was a lot of food in the window sill. The booth seats were terribly sticky. Asked the server to please wipe off the table and she sprayed a small amount of liquid in one spot and wiped that one small spot with a paper napkin, not cleaning the sticky dirt off the table. Table was still filthy. Then a group was seated behind us. The waitress actually took their drink orders before ours, even though we had been setting there waiting for a while. We asked for a menu and was told it was contact less, we had to scan a code on our phone to see the menu. I told them I didn't have my phone with me and she did find a menu that was laminated and could have been disinfected. It was sticky and gross. Then, one of the group behind us stood up and was waiting for someone else, and continue to talk over my head while leaning on my seat, even though she should have remained seated due to Covid. Finally placed our order and my quesadillas were very cold in the middle. Ordered tea with lemon. Received no lemon. Waitress did finally bring one microscopic slice of lemon. No refills were offered. This Applebee's is an epic FAIL! The Health Department needs to do some serious checking into this location. Pretty sure they are not following Covid guidelines nor cleanliness guidelines. Very few employees seemed motivated to do their jobs! Best suggestion is to avoid this location! read more

When we got our steak, my father's was immensely undercooked, and we ordered a to go, and when we saw the amount of tomato soup, it was only quarter full!! And there was a colossal tear in the seat. There's apparently a structural problem that needs to be addressed in this particular Applebees. I know this because at any given time three people need to lean against the back wall of the restaurant. This must be crucial to keep the structural integrity of the restaurant since so many people were working on this task and not getting us drinks and food. You can get a drink if you ask a hostess or busboy. Eventually Jennifer will meander out and take your order. A half hour or so later she will return with your cold food. You might get a refill or maybe not. There is no service here at all. One of hard working fellows holding up the wall had a shirt on that said we're all fired. If only this were true. I can't speak for the entire Applebees chain, but this one is not very good. The service is extremely slow, and the food is always hit or miss. Out of what I have experienced in Zanesville restaurants, Applebees doesn't have the worst food, but they definitely have the worst service. Some of them it's a wonder how they even got in the door. After the last experience here, I decided that I'm just going to check this place off the list. I ordered their three cheese chicken penne the last two times I have eaten here, and both times I have had to ask for more sauce, because they seriously put only a tablespoon of sauce on the pasta. The food is as good as any Applebees. The service is hit or miss, but more usually miss. The big problem that I have with this Applebees is that they used to feature all of the are high schools with memorabilia on their walls. They recently redecorated and got rid of all of the schools except two. As an alumni, of an eliminated school I'm offended that I am now excluded. I have eaten at better Applebee's. This one the service is ALWAYS slow and it seems they always mess up our order. Our last visit it took fooorreevver to get our appetizer, then even longer to get our main dish, our plan was to go to the movies after we ate but the service was so slow we missed our movie. My husband paid a little extra to get an extra side dish and then they forget to bring it and he was completely done with his dinner when they finally brought his side and they never even apologized and we had to complain to management to have it removed from our bill. read more

Ate there Spring of 2016 and everything was off, compared to our prior visit in late winter of 2015. Spring 2016 visit not happy. Had dinner there tonight, guarantee I will NOT go back. The food is over priced for the quality. Example, my salad had frozen pieces of lettuce. WHATTTT and I don't send anything back or ask for corrections, NO, NO, NO. Yesterday me and my wife decided to stop in for lunch, and have multiple times before without any issue. The server was great as they usually are however we had multiple issues with the food. The first couple of problems were with appetizers, we ordered mozzarella sticks and also the brisket nachos. The mozzarella sticks came out first and were still barely warm in the middle, just not cooked long enough, then when the brisket nachos come out they came without the brisket. But no problem we let the server know and she wisked them away and brought new, but not better. The mozzarella sticks were not cooked through yet again and the nachos which had brisket on them was soggy and felt like it was just pulled out of a refrigerator. At this time the main dishes came out as well and my wife chicken three cheese penne had an entire straw wrapper buried under the pasta. At this time we had just decided to leave, I hoping for the restaurants sake this was an issues with a new cook that they can get resolved because at this point I would not recommend to anyone. read more

Hit or miss. They can have the best steak I've ever had one week and the next it be chewey. The staff is normally really nice but if you go late (like an hour or so before they close) they avoid you and I have been given a dirty glass before. But overall, not bad.
