I must say I was pleasantly surprised on how good the food was. My friend took us all here to show us their burgers and wings since we were in town and I'm glad he picked this place. My wife got their wings and I got their classic burger. Great staff who took our order and the others interacted with us as we waited. When the food came out, it was super delicious. This place has great burgers. I had the peanut butter bacon burger with onion rings. Burger was great, onion rings may have been a little greasy. Still good though. Service is very consistent. I was debating between blackened salmon entree that came with mash potatoes and maybe a side I can't remember but at $30 I decided to go with the blackened salmon Caesar salad for $19, lt was the most unceasar salad I've ever had. Limp long green leaf lettuce tomatoes cucumber Parmesan flakes no bacon with a piece of 3x3 inch blackened salmon. Trust me I do not mind paying for a great meal, its just not justified with quality and portions like this. Other items we ordered -Cup of French onion stuffed with croutons not just a few like the cup was full of more swollen croutons than broth. Barely 1/4 cup broth $7 - chicken wings very small 6 wings like cheap frozen wings $10 - kids cup Mac n cheese with cold sweet potato fries $9 -soda $3.29 I don't mind paying the prices if the product reflects it. My friend and I visited this restaurant for lunch. It was busy but we were quickly seated. Our server was very friendly. The menu featured many delicious options. I settled on a Turkey BLT Wrap. I opted for Sweet Potato Fries as my side. The food quickly arrived. The wrap tasted great. My only gripe is the wrap had a bit too much mayonnaise. The Sweet Potato Fries were amazing. If you have never dipped sweet potato fries in caramel, add this to your must do foodie list. The Red Oak Pub came recommended Bioc coworker who lives in this area, I was traveling for business. He said that I had to try the peanut butter bacon burger on a pretzel brioche bun and I needed to get the home cut beer breaded fries and dip them in the homemade tomato soup. This all sounded like a lot of crazy but I'm always up for a challenge. The creamy tomato soup had a little bit of cheese on top and was superb alone. Dipping the fries and the tomato soup kind of made the fries taste like a delicious crunchy type of ravioli dipped into a good creamy Red sauce. My coworker decided to go with the rodeo burger, sweet potato fries and caramel based upon a recommendation of the waitress. At this point we just decided to have some fun with our meal and make it a food experience. We shared and tried everything we had at the table and it was just a memorable, flavorful experience. I also tried dipping the burger in the tomato soup and that was a great flavor. Give this place a try if you are in Newark and don't be afraid to try something new. A bit disappointed since we were in town for a tournament and like I mentioned really hoped it was going to be the same. The one thing I will say is that our server was spectacular. That was the same as the first time. Inside decor is nothing special, but that certainly doesn't affect my thinking in this review. The food was underwhelming this time around. We raved to everyone about how good it was and how they missed out the first time. My burger was overcooked for sure, but did have good seasoning. The onion ring was large and tasted good, so that's a positive. My wife had a lunch special with beer cheese soup. It was watering and had very little flavor to it. My son had a buffalo chicken wrap and mentioned that he did enjoy it a lot. So, maybe it was just this time, but I didn't feel like it was as good as the first time. We came here with wife, son and MIL. My wife didn't love it (didn't like the atmosphere) but I did. Had their house Irish Ale and found it a great beer. I had the Bunker Buster Burger and it was really good. The burgers are flame grilled and they have great flavor. We his burger had jalapeños, onion rings, red onion, and two types of cheese. I really liked the burger. My side was onion rings and, while, not the best onion rings I have had, they were pretty good. Other tables with the same amount of people (3) who got sat 15 minutes after us got their food a while before us. I asked for my salad dressing on the side because I don't like to put on too much dressing. It came out drenched in dressing. I asked for my egg to be over easy, and it came out over medium. I usually don't ask for them to fix anything, but decided to ask for a new egg. It came out quickly after, so I was excited. But, there was a short black hair on it (I have long blonde hair). The burger was just okay. Between the wait for food, the hair in the egg, the over dressed salad, and the burger just being okay, I wouldn't recommend. First time to this a place. Very close to family we are in town visiting. Burgers are cooked to perfection and so full of flavor. Fries are really good, too. Great tasting red ale. This was a brief stop on a day trip. Popped in here because a friend-of-a-friend frequents this spot. Our server, Dalton, was fast and attentive, keeping my drink full before I had a chance. The food - honestly, their burgers read amazing. Their basic burger is tasty with garlic aioli. I ordered the bacon peanut butter burger - savory. Mozzarella sticks cooked perfectly for an appetizer. Onion rings also cooked perfectly, crunchy and flavorful. Brownie shared after the burger with a little one (super rich). The downfall - most minor of gripes - the burger was well cooked around the edges, the centers were perfect (and two burgers). All in all, solid spot. I didn't check out the draft list, but looks like they had a few local brews on tap and a lot of happy patrons. I'll check it out again when I'm in the area! read more

After 5 visits I decided to update. Love this place, I sometimes make excuses to get to Newark from Columbus and this one of my favorite places in Newark to eat. The staff from the host when you walk in to all the servers, bartenders and kitchen staff are all 5 star, great service and they seem to enjoy being there and treating people well. The food is all very good. My only suggestion for improvement is to use fresh not frozen wings and fresh cut fries. That is extra work for restaurants and supplies are tricky during the pandemic, but that would make this place totally perfect.. I will continue to come when I am doing business nearby. read more

I grew up in the area, and I have been to Red Oak a number of occasions, and I have generally left feeling unimpressed, and my last time visiting warrants this review. For starters, I ordered the "Breakfast Burger" with beer battered fires as a side. The burger itself was overcooked, and the bun was incredibly dry. Dry to the point of crumbling when I picked the food up off the plate. It seemed as if the buns were left out overnight, and what was supposed to be a fried egg on top, was also overcooked, and dry. Our waiter Caleb T. was absolutely incredible, and has impeccable customer service ability, and brought our food promptly without being overbearing. The music wasn't too loud or of bad taste in my opinion, both the booth and the table were clean, and the restaurant as a whole was well decorated, well lit, and the temperature was comfortable. read more

Red Oak is kind of like Applebee's. Except that it's not a chain. This is a little less family friendly but it's still pretty safe. The menu is typical of a restaurant like this. On tap are some average beers. The food is mostly fried stuff. I had a vodka with pineapple. It's about $5 which is kind of high. This seemed to be mostly pineapple juice. It tasted good. This just wasn't quite a value. I ate the pretzel bites. It's about $7 for a basket. These aren't anything better than the pretzels that come in a box at the grocery store. It came with pretty good mustard. These are okay when you're not sober. This is an independent restaurant but the food is typical of many restaurant chains. In some cases it's not even as good. Yes I would Highly recommend this restaurant! We had a hockey tournament and a party of 30. They were very good at making it work for our large party! Never one had to ask for a refill, they were on too of it. The food was Great! I Had the pick 2 linvh special Have sandwich have soup. The portabella panini and the ale cheddar soup. Then I have their barbecue chicken salad which was my favorite. My husband had the Red oak burger it was so yummy w the garlic aiol and the Onion Rings are HUGE and to die for!! Lol My girlfriend, she got the fish tacos. And they looked so good. They were loaded and her husband got a fish sandwich. It was so big. I have never seen a fish sandwich in my life. That was that big. He said it was amazing in the best fishsandwitch he's ever had. So one of my kids having eight piece teriyaki chicken wings 9 out of 10, The others had mac and cheese bowls and french fries. Which they liked but was not really filling enough.
