Unsurprisingly an outdoor camp feel but well kept insides. The bathroom has 4 hand dryers. Wow for a rural area. Works great for last minute big groups. This center is near Lake Placid which has a USA Olympic Training Center. Another fully equipped rest area seems about 30 miles north. This explains a lot. Must be beautiful but isolating and serene here with the basics and minimal distractions. Also, not a lot of gas in mountainous Adirondacks and no gas at this rest area. I think I saw 1-3 stations on I-87 so far.

There was a nice staff member there who helped everyone out with the vending machines too. There was some "I heart NY" merch in shirts and mugs too. I'd love if they added Adirondack merch too though. Lots of seating, Adirondack-style chairs to stretch your legs out on if you're taking a break from driving. There is also a kids playground and a dog area as well as a small area for everyone else to walk around. Overall, it was a great and easy stop!

It has just a Dunkin and a Green Apple convenience store inside and a Mobil gas station outside. The bathroom was clean and looked pretty new, which led me to a curious observation. The men's room had none of the hot air hand dryers that have been common for the last decade or so. They didn't even have a paper towel dispenser on the wall. The only option for drying my hands was a roll of paper towels standing upright on a sink. Kind of bizarre, don't you think?

This is yet another example of absolutely awful price hikes and upcharging and price gouging at rest areas. Every Fast Food Outlet in here is massively overpriced, some more than others. Coffee is almost twice the price it is supposed to be. The gas here is anywhere from $0.10 to $0.40 more expensive than it would be off the highway, but off-highway gas is kind of a no-go because you have to pay extra in tolls to get off and on the highway again, nearly negating the difference. Not to mention waiting at the toll booth oftentimes, costing you several minutes. They know the majority aren't going to do that and they upcharge you accordingly. Grr. So they really screw you over with this toll road and these plazas. Now they are good for stopping and resting and sleeping, pretty safe with all the trucks around, and they have pretty decent facilities, but having said that, the service at a lot of these little places is awful. And perhaps worst of all, if you nap for too long, then when you try to get off and pay your toll, you could well get the third degree about being on the Thruway for too long and they could accuse you of trying to cheat the system. Good times all around.

Can't do better than this on the East Coast unless you are in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Note - The North area was already on Yelp as I passed through, and I did not think to add the South area until returning home. It is there now, and my comments for the North are equally applicable for the South. I stopped both coming and going. It is in North Hudson, NY. Can't explain how Yelp got it as Manhattan??

The first impression I had of the Inn was unique! I was traveling with some close friends and I was…read moregiven the Suite to stay in for the night. When I first opened the door I was impressed by the size of the room, huge is all I can say. The bed was warm and cozy, buy was I tired after a long day. The suite consisted of a living room, bed room and bathroom. Even the bathroom was huge. In the morning I was greeted by a beautiful picturesque view of the falls. The Inn also provided a Continental Breakfast, and the best thing ever for a morning, a Kureg coffee maker with a selection of various coffees. The host was amazing, showing us the rooms and describing anything we might need to know. The place is Amazing and I suggest a stay when ever you're in the area. Sorry, some of the photos are blurry because I had a screen on the window. I forgot to mention that the bathroom had a Jacuzzi.
