There were a few rooms in the bed and breakfast itself but we chose to to stay in the cottage by the B&B "The Hog and Haus" which at one point in time housed pigs. This cottage is right next to a gorge that you can hear very clearly from inside the cottage and it lulls you to sleep. The cottage is rustic yet has all the amenities you could want (except television) there is a fully stocked fridge with soda, water, yogurt, a variety of fruit, milk, cheese (good brick cheese), creamer for coffee, and flavored seltzer water. There are also a variety of different kinds of crackers, cereals (the good kind), and baked goods that the host prepares daily. You also have access to the main house which is very tastefully decorated with antiques and a working pool table, and, get this.......an all you can eat ice cream sundae bar with all of the toppings and not one, not two, but over six flavors of ice cream!!!! There are also more snacks and beverages there. The cottage itself was more than worth the cost especially with the sound of the waterfalls in the gorge and the true cabin feel. If you plan to go to Cooperstown or even just want an awesome getaway (this place is well worth the trip from anywhere) come to Johnstown to stay in this charming historical place. Oh yeah..... there is a ton of history behind these walls including being part of the underground railroad. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

My fiancee' (well, now fiancee'... :)) took me up here on a 2 night trip for our 4th anniversary together and right away, I fell in love with this place. The numerous fountains and gardens framing the mill house are hard not to be enchanted with, and this is just the beginning. Ron and Judith are gracious hosts, with Ron having some amazing stories to tell. People wrote in the guest book in the Mill House that Ron should write down his memoirs, and listening to him for ten minutes will make you agree. The main Grist Mill Emporium will amaze you, with its numerous games (billards table, checkers, puzzles, tv, etc.) and of course, its amazing ice cream parlor with complimentary ice cream, toppings, sodas and other beverages! Heading over to the Mill House (the main guest house), you will instantly feel the sense of whimsy that Judith's decorating is trying to achieve. The outside koi pond compliments the larger pond in the Grist Mill. The porch is wonderfully day-dream inducing, especially if a recent rain has fueled the waterfalls into a loud stream behind the mill. The plethora of treats in the house's kitchen is evident as soon as one walks in, with the small cooler of baked goods courtesy of gourmet cook Judith (their famous oreo truffle torte is NOT to be missed!!) There is a fully stocked fridge (eggs, fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc.) along with every kind of tea and coffee that you would need...the living room and lounge areas are just magical and really evoke a great feeling of warmth that is a great way to start your day on vacation. My guy and I stayed by the Hog-n-Haus, a beautiful, romantic sweet little cottage literally right at the cliff of the waterfalls. When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready, so we asked what was a close place to eat. Jeremy at the front desk directed us to an excellent place just up the road. After spending an hour eating,vee came back and the room still wasn't ready. Jeremy took off from the cost for the inconvenience and we proceeded to hang out in the lobby talking to him about hunting, fishing, and the Cooperstown area. When our rooms were finally ready, we headed to their top level of rooms and settled in. I enjoy "vintage" hotels, but my son is used to modern ones. Needless to say, this place grew on him and it worked for us. We even enjoyed a cigar while overlooking the lake on our last day there. I thought it was a very good deal for the price and it's about a 10 minute ride to downtown Cooperstown, so you're a little ways away from that chaos. Can't beat the views!

The…read morehotels in Cooperstown were mostly booked, or very expensive and this was a reasonable alternative even though we knew we'd have to drive 10+ minutes into town. The first day we were there was fine. The parking was good and the room was very clean. Little did we know some of that would change. If you aren't familiar with Cooperstown Dreams Park, be sure to check the schedule before planning a trip to Cooperstown, unless you're there for a baseball tournament (which apparently our entire motel was). It will make your time there very difficult. All the shops will be clogged, and the Hall of Fame will be mobbed. Our motel was basically empty all day and you could come or go as you please. But at around 9:00pm it would get completely full with cars parked everywhere, even in places there weren't any spots. There would be car doors slamming, kids screaming and playing, and adults drinking and talking until well after 11:00pm. This happened every night. It was extremely annoying, especially when you're woken up from a sound sleep. There was no enforcement of quiet hours even though it's posted everywhere. So if you want to pay a bunch of money to sleep on a crappy spring mattress with zero support and be woken up by pretentious baseball families every night. I highly recommend staying here! Also, it was just far enough outside of Cooperstown to be annoying whenever you wanted a bite to eat or a warm breakfast. It was a one and done for us.

Fieldstone Farm is a breath of fresh air in a world full of cookie-cutter hotels and motels. You can stay in a cabin, or one of the other townhouses in the middle of "Farm Central" upstate New York. I always see a multitude of wildlife. They just got a new boat with a shade for the big pond, so you can hang out all day on the water without getting sunburn. They have some nice amenities like a tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court, game room/arcade, a nice size in the ground outdoor pool, billiards room and another smaller pond for fishing. There's a nice rolling stream too. The view from the top of the hill is absolutely stunning. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Pictures don't do it justice. I can't wait to go back.

Initially I had wanted to stay on the water, but we took the "road less traveled" and so glad we did. It is a serene and peaceful location. Once we figured out the route we found it to be quite convenient to Cooperstown and surrounding attractions, and the views are magnificent. The stars at night were incredible. I loved the area and was glad to be away from the traffic and congestion up and down the lakefront. The owners of the Fieldstone Farm, John and Jeannie, were very friendly and accommodating. Our unit was spotless. I would happily stay here again.

Accommodations: The aesthetics look nice from the outside but the rooms are not that nice and the walls are extremely thin so we heard every single word and noise from every room in the lodge. We also had to go down two flights of stairs into a he basement/dog training room to our bathroom, which didn't have hot water and smelled like pet urine. The host, Monique, is incredibly rude. She was entertaining personal friends in the common area of the lodge for both of the nights we were there. Her group took over the whole space, even though Monique's house is 50 yards away, and was drinking and partying well into the morning hours. It made us extremely uncomfortable to even try to go to the bathroom. Neither one of us, nor the other guests that weekend, got much sleep since they were so loud and the walls/doors are so incredibly thin. Monique is rude on every level. She criticized us for our dog's tail being cropped (was done long before we got her so it was far outside of our control) and was just condescending and disrespectful in general for the whole time we were there. The icing on the cake is that we forgot a new pair of pretty expensive glasses there. My wife called/texted Monique and she acknowledged that her husband had found them under the bed of the room we stayed in. She said she would send them to us (my wife even offered to pay for the shipping) but they never came. After a few weeks we both tried calling and sent several texts (one just pleading for a response) but she never once replied. Needless to say, we paid almost $500 for two nights there and are extremely disappointed with the service and how loud and uncomfortable the stay was. I grew up one town over from where Lodge Solange and my sincerest advice to anyone considering this place is to just keep looking. There are many much better and nicer / places and people in the Mohawk Valley.
