We booked a three night stay here to use as a home base for some activities we had planned. The hotels in Cooperstown were mostly booked, or very expensive and this was a reasonable alternative even though we knew we'd have to drive 10+ minutes into town. The first day we were there was fine. The parking was good and the room was very clean. Little did we know some of that would change. If you aren't familiar with Cooperstown Dreams Park, be sure to check the schedule before planning a trip to Cooperstown, unless you're there for a baseball tournament (which apparently our entire motel was). It will make your time there very difficult. All the shops will be clogged, and the Hall of Fame will be mobbed. Our motel was basically empty all day and you could come or go as you please. But at around 9:00pm it would get completely full with cars parked everywhere, even in places there weren't any spots. There would be car doors slamming, kids screaming and playing, and adults drinking and talking until well after 11:00pm. This happened every night. It was extremely annoying, especially when you're woken up from a sound sleep. There was no enforcement of quiet hours even though it's posted everywhere. So if you want to pay a bunch of money to sleep on a crappy spring mattress with zero support and be woken up by pretentious baseball families every night. I highly recommend staying here! Also, it was just far enough outside of Cooperstown to be annoying whenever you wanted a bite to eat or a warm breakfast. It was a one and done for us. read more

We stay here every time we go to Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame or Opera. Right on the lake and everything you need from a motel.

We stayed here after leaving NYC for a break in the country and the Baseball HOF. It's a quint lakeside resort with an indoor and outdoor pool, BBQ grills and picnic tables. There's also a dock and you can check out paddle boats. The breakfast room was a nice place to fuel up before the day. It overlooks the water and has a decent continental spread: hot & cold cereals, toast, egg patties to make a breakfast sandwich, coffee, tea, juice, milk, yogurt and fruit. The decor is dated but well maintaned. It is a 10 minute drive out of town so you'll have to drive a bit to find more choices in restaurants but the lake is beautiful. read more

We have been staying at the Lake N Pines for 1 weekend each July for years and years. We book several rooms and come as an extended family. I would say it is a good value for your money considering the stunning location and high time of year. It is a simple motel, relatively older, definitely not handicapped accessible, so expectations should be aligned with that. We must have been in a renovated room this year because it looked very refreshed with new paint and definitely an upgraded bathroom and upgraded towels and pillows and very clean and neat. It really was the best we've seen the motel look. It's easy to make reservations and I like the confirmation emails and the What to Expect email. Anyone saying they booked and the hotel had the wrong date cannot be correct because there is plenty of confirmation communication that one could just read and make sure is correct! In general, the motel is perfect for a weekend in Cooperstown. It is a friendly, happy place to be. The pool is clean and nice, the views of the lake are stunning and it has everything you need for a pleasant stay. There is a gorgeous huge deck with plenty of deck chairs overlooking the lake too. Our one and only head scratcher was the coffee situation. Since Covid the amazing breakfast service that was down at that gorgeous deck has unsurprisingly gone away. In its place is a Keurig in the office that has been rigged up to require $.75 per pod. To say this is off putting and cheap is an understatement. It would be easy to get an industrial coffee urn and put it in the office so guests could tap it to fill a cup and wander down to the lake with it. Other than this tiny detail, I couldn't recommend this motel more!! read more

This motel was beautiful. If your looking for glamour this isn't the motel for you. But out in this beautiful upstate NY countryside , it was perfect . The room was quaint very clean had a front and back door to park right behind your room. The tv had lots of current channels, the pillows were many and the king size bed was awesome. It had a square table with room to eat dinner on and the bathroom was to die for. It was large a stone shower with a rain shower shower head. Great water pressure . The outside pool was spotless and clear and heated to boot! They also had an indoor pool heated and a game room including a pool table. The front desk was courteous, Informative and polite. I left an expensive pillow there which they mailed back to me. It may not be the Marriott but I enjoyed staying here much better! read more

Did I mention it was very clean...Nice location, if I have anything negative to say it would be the walk downhill and then down two flights of lake stairs to get to the dock, lake and breakfast location. Its worth the walk because there are two NEW beautiful decks and lots of lounge chairs to sit upon to watch the world go by... Only problem is, every-time you walk back to your room its uphill all the way & two flights of stairs (14 each). If you are old or disabled this could be an issue. They only care about money, NOT their guests satisfaction. If anything happens during your stay, DO NOT expect any compassion or compensation. It seems as though they think the beautiful surroundings will allow them to get away with being cheap and rude. The whole lake is gorgeous, find somewhere else to stay. There for a wedding, My sister was originally booked at one of their sister properties. Something happened there and everyone was relocated to the L'n Pines. I called about cancelling my room so she and I could stay together since that just made sense with us being in the same hotel. Given the extenuating circumstances Id have thought they would work with me, but said they couldn't do it because I booked through a third party site, but my third party site said that it could totally be done if the hotel was willing to do so. Instead they ripped off two young sisters about $500. THEN, Rm 35/36! These 2 rooms are below a larger suite, 35 is directly under the kitchen=no carpet=LOUD!!! Also very damp and muggy. I was woken 5:30am daily by HOURS of a bball team stomping through the place. CRAZY LOUD, sounded like riverdance! Even as gross as kitchen carpet sounds, do it for your guests below. I asked the SUPER sweet cleaning ladies about the noise & was told that people complain about it all the time. My trip was ruined by lack of sleep!!!! I was upset because they knew of the issue and didn't warn me, and have done nothing in the room above to prevent it. Manager was SO RUDE to me, kept interrupting me. They KNEW about the noise that ruined my trip and didn't inform me. THAT is why Im so mad. I ended up moving into my sisters room. Its been over a week and the owner still hasn't returned my calls. Our local bass fishing club comes out to this place every year for the past 3 years. We normally change locations each year but when we stumbled on this angler's gem we couldn't resist but to return year after year. We return in September and since it's pretty cold by then we don't get to enjoy the outdoor pool but the rest of the amenities are enjoyed. We always rent the cottages which are perfect for the weekend getaway in the area. The staff is great and accommodating. The facility is located on the lake so for those with summer boats you have the option of leaving your boat in the lake. When we arrive it's too cold for recreational boating so we have the lake to ourselves. The cottages are really clean and well maintained. We love this place, however as much as we love it don't come with expectations of a 5 star NYC hotel because you will be sorely disappointed. Instead come ready to appreciate what the place does have to offer. read more

I regret that I called the phone # posted on their website which sent me to their reservation service and not their front desk. The gentleman handling reservations had a heavy accent and all I heard clearly was that the hotel had no rooms except for the one I was getting and once booked I could not cancel, also that no discounts for seniors were offered. I accepted it but once I opened the confirmation after getting off of the phone I discovered that the rate had gone up over $130 per night. This is an old motel, nice view, with no frills. I'm retired. I drove 6 hours to get there and stayed to play in a Men's baseball tournament. I had planned to speak to a manager when I checked out but no one was in when I dropped off my key that weekday morning. I also have sent two emails and did not hear anything back. I wish I had something positive to say. I don't do negative reviews. It's really not something I feel good about . Buyer Beware. read more

Not bad at all... I'd probably give it 3 1/2 stars... the room was small but clean and it was very quiet. The lake view was lovely... the breakfast wasn't that great, though. Rather flavorless bagels and, the second day, no fresh fruit. And the Wi-Fi is spotty and unreliable. We were down the hill a bit so maybe that's why our reception was spotty but it was still annoying. We didn't use the outside pool because we didn't have time. The spa inside didn't seem to have any temperature control and the pool didn't look all that inviting, either. But the staff were friendly and attentive and, while the motel is out of town, it's only a 10-15 minute drive to get there. Thumbs slightly up. read more

My husband and I were invited to a very close friends daughters wedding in August. I had called in April and made a reservation at the Lake N Pines Motel in Cooperstown. Apparently the booking was through Expedia.com which I am not computer savvy and didn't realize. I received an email prior to our check-in date, which was August 26th, that all cancellations had to be called in by August 21st (5 days prior to check-in for a full refund). On August 24th I tested positive for COVID and called immediately to cancel my reservation (48 hours prior to check-in). I was heart broken to not attend the wedding. My first thought was not to spread this nasty virus to the wedding reception patrons nor the Motel staff and our room. When I called the Lake N Pines to cancel, they informed me their policy states no refund 5 days prior to check-in. Did I know I was going to test positive for COVID 2 days before check-in? No I did not! This wedding meant everything to me and to not be able to attend was bad enough but then to be told there would be no refund, was entirely wrong. I realize there are policies with cancellations but we all know that room was double sold when we cancelled. I have no problem paying a cancellation fee but loosing the entire $200.00 is ridiculous! I have received no satisfaction from the Motel or Expedia. I'm just letting people know that some hotels and motels will not budge an inch on cancellation notices even if its a health issue. My business will never be with them nor will I use Expedia. End of rant! read more

Arrived to a dirty carpet with visible crumbs, a dog's toy on the floor, but most disappointing was a terrible mattress that had obvious butt divots the side nearest the TV. It totally collapsed when I sat on the edge of the bed. For $200+ a night, one should expect a decent mattress. read more

Well, it DOES have 2 pools, but unfortunately, the indoor pool and spa are filthy and run-down. The rooms are claustrophobic and small, the parking lot is an absolute horror to navigate (complete with EXTREMELY steep grades), and the 'breakfast bar' is nothing more than bulk cereal, stale bagels, and reconstituted industrial-grade juice. Even the coffee is nasty. Expect lots of people with obnoxious, screaming brats to be staying there. Save your money, and go to one of the chain places south of town, or else pony-up some moola for a better place in town. read more

Lake N' Pines Motel is the definition of bucolic. Tucked away in the country side and nestled up, alongside, a beautiful and picturesque, Otsego Lake. The property is spread out similar to a campground -- just without campers or tents. Best to describe it as a well maintained, family-owned / mom & pop-style motel. Lodging consists of four or five buildings, each with several private rooms -- all with exterior entrances, that you can pull your car right up to. Beds (2 Queen) were comfortable, plenty of hot water, lots of cable channels (including HBO), and free / consistent WiFi. Paddle boats, fishing rods, bait, and discounted Baseball Hall of Fame tickets are available for rent and/or purchase. There was a free continental breakfast, as well. The motel is located a, scenic, six-mile-drive around the lake, from the "downtown" section of Cooperstown. We spent our lunch time at Omnegang Brewery but they closed surprisingly early -- this is a common theme throughout the town. We parked on the main street and went in the various baseball shops and browsed. Had a delicious dinner at the Doubleday Cafe but we found ourselves back at the motel around 730pm because EVERYTHING was closing -- even on a Saturday. This turned out to be a pleasant surprise, though. We split a six-pack from Omnegang on the patio, while listening to the baseball game. Then we had a football catch outside and in the indoor pool (it was a little too chilly to go in the outdoor pool). Afterward, we played some pool and foosball in the game room, which was located next door. Couldn't of asked for a better time. Can't convince me of a better stay for my dollar. read more

The view on its on makes this roadside motel worthy of 5-stars. I would suggest checking in while its still light out as the ramp to the rooms is pretty steep. This motel features a game room, indoor pool, paddle boats and free breakfast. The room was clean and spacious. Only complaint about the room would be that the shower is a bit high so its a little scary stepping in and out. There is a dock you could walk out on which makes for a perfect spot of pictures and enjoying the view. Cabins are available so this would make a great destination for families. There are also grills in front of the rooms that can be used by the guests. read more

There was no dial indicator or readout to know how to set the temperature. The heaters were also in the room opposite the bathroom. It never did warm up. We went from freeing to over heating. It's dated, the rooms are nothing special, the place could use a major renovation however the beds are comfortable, the staff seem accommodating and friendly and the location is right on the lake. The parking lot is not as bad as one may say. The game room could use a updating but they have a few classic 80's arcade games. No review on the hot tub or pool facilities (sorry). The continental breakfast leaves much to be desired and I've been told the coffee is bad. Consider this for what you pay you have a quiet comfortable night sleep with a nice view of the lake. Not the best but certainly not the worst. There is free Wifi Major negative for me was no AT&T Wireless signal but there is a Signal for Verizon. read more

Since this was our first time to Cooperstown, we were not sure where to stay. But this place is okay and I recommend it IF you are desperate for a room. The whole place is old. Therefore everything else is old. Showers: Dont take showers here. If you do, make sure is not at the same time as your friendly neighbors because you have DRIPS of water coming out. Cold water. This happened to us, 3/4 mornings. The whole rooms smells like a dusty vacuum bag. In fact you are staying inside a dusty vacuum bags. The top blanket covers smells like peanut butter from the 60s. Bed: Old, springy mattress with each spring digging into your spine. Heater is not the warmest heater and it take a LONG time to heat up. Parking: You can park in front of room if you are by the lake side. That is convenient when is snowing. Continental breakfast: Milk, apple and orange juice, bagels, toast, 2-3 cereals, coffee. No eggs. We did have the lake view rooms. It was beautiful. read more

Stayed here last night, the view of the lake is amazing and definitely worth the price. Was not a lot of guests, but I suppose the fall is the down season. Price was extremely reasonable for the view and amenities. I did not use the indoor pool however given another evening I would have. Front desk reception was extremely nice and courteous. You can also get discount HOF tickets from them as well. One downside was that the walls were paper thin, I could hear the gentleman snoring in the adjacent room as well as talk on the phone. But other than that it was a great evening and will definitely go again! read more

We booked this motel for the week after labor day so it's the "off season" we got a full sized room with 2 queen beds and a private balcony overlooking lake otsego for super cheap! You could not beat the price here especially for the view. There is cable TV, a free continental breakfest down in a speical breakfast area on the lake, free wi-fi, and there were also indoor and outdoor pools. The breakfast is pretty standard with cereal and bagels with coffee and juice but free is free right? It was a bit chilly for the outdoor pool but it is of a decent size. The indoor heated pool and jacuzzi leave something to be desired because of the size but it's not anything I am personally interested in. Only a mini-fridge no coffee maker or microwave in the room so you do have to go down to breakfast between 8-1030 if you need your morning caffeine. We decided to stay an extra night so I have reviews for two rooms. The first room had the balcony and terrific view (142) only the water pressure left something to be desired. We had two beds (one for our stuff and one for us :) ) One bed was comfy the other seemed a bit run down and hard but we chose the better of the two and slept well. Our last night we moved "downstairs" to the room below our old one and the view was not as nice despite the picture window because the only place to park your car is infront of the window! The water pressure was much better in this room but it did not have a full length mirror like the other. This one also had two beds but both were a little on the hard side and one was very lop-sided and "sinking" so we did not use it at all. Overall we were very happy with our stay here. The staff was also very nice helpful and accommodating. Will def. Come back here in the future if we can get the rooms "upstairs" with the balcony. read more

These reviews are somewhat confusing from Yelp. I'm seeing multiple hotels/ motels...this review is for LakeNPines in Cooperstown. We've stayed here for a few years now. We come for fishing in Otsego Lake and always rent a cottage. They have a very decent dock area and allow us to keep our boat there for no extra charge. We can also launch right there. The white rustic cottage and green cottage are both quite nice if you're not looking for luxury. They equip them with all we need to make and eat meals and are nice and clean. Comfortable, clean couch/ furniture and beds. Don't plan on their free breakfast to fill up on, but you can get fresh fruit, coffee and cereal. We are always happy to stay here and look forward to staying again. read more

My family and I stay every year for a family reunion which last an entire weekend and we rent 7 rooms. There is no change to the hotel year to year. The rooms are musty, and old. The carpet and bedding is gross so we bring our own pillows and blanket. The front desk staff is very rude, my nephew stood next to me as I was checking and asked for change so he could buy a drink from the vending machine and the women snapped something nasty at him and when she saw how shocked I was by her response she said oh, I didn't realize he was with you, as if it's ok to be so rude to children. The breakfast is ok, if you don't mind bagels, and cereal. The man helping clean and replenish for breakfast is nice, and the same guy every year. I hate to stay here year after year, but it's one of the least expensive to stay outside of town. The lake is beautiful. read more

I have mixed reviews - I think this place was probably "da' bomb" in it's heyday but it could use a little remodeling in the rooms and the game room. The breakfast area on the lake was great and looks either newer or updated. Our room was on the first floor and we were able to park right infront of it and bring our SUP board into the room with us for safe keeping over night and while we were at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The bed was okay as were the 2 pillows we were given, the linens were old and outdated but did the job. The bathroom has a powerful heater on a timer you can turn on if your other half puts the air on in the room making it too cold to imagine hopping in the shower ;-) The biggest issue I had was the little travel mouthwash had been opened by someone and used once (the safety foil had a finger or toothbrush pushed through it to open it) and clearly no one checked because it was left for us to use - icky! This also made me wonder about the rest of the cleaning job - which seemed pretty good up until then. The Continental Breakfast included egg patties, yogurt, toast/bagels/etc, oatmeal, coffee, juice, and fruit. It was overseen by a very nice gentleman who kept things shipshape. (I already mentioned the view of the lake from the breakfast room.) The lake had some paddle boats (which were full of water, perhaps from a recent rain) and some boat slips. They have recorded birds of prey playing from a motion sensored speaker to keep the seagulls away. The two pools seemed nice -average hotel size. Indoor and outdoor options were nice but we didn't stay long enough to use them. All this being said, would I stay here again? Probably for the right price read more

I was very pleasantly surprised when i walked into my room. I really did not know what to expect as it appeared very old online and the rooms were so much cheaper then other places in the area. Check-in was fine, we went to our room and the rugs looked brand new, the beds were comfy and it was very clean and very spacious. My only issue with the room was apparently the people staying above us woke up and decided to shower at 6am so we were up for the day since it was pretty loud in our room. We did go to the indoor jacuzzi and pool both were in great shape. The location was not bad at all as it was like an 8 minute scenic drive to main street. I am not sure if we will ever make the haul to Cooperstown again but if we do this will be our go to spot! read more

Hubby, my son, and I checked in for a short stay to check out Cooperstown and see our nephew play ball at Dreams Ballpark. The motel is located on Otsego Lake, about 10 mins. north of Cooperstown proper. The office is open until 10 p.m. for guests checking in. We received our keys to room 121, and parked the car in the spot right in front of the room. Room 121 has 2 queen beds and a private balcony overlooking the back of the property. A very nice view of the lake is included. It is a short walk both the outside and indoor pools, and the bbq area with the picnic tables. The breakfast room is a bit further away down 2 very steep hills. I can see the hills being an issue for anyone in a wheelchair or not in great physical condition. The breakfast consisted of coffee, apples/bananas, cereals, egg patties, yogurt, and various breads including bagels. It was very basic, but it was fine for us. The breakfast room has a nice deck that overlooks the dock and lake. The indoor pool was sketchy. The tile was filthy, and the hot tub was down right disgusting. I could see streaks all over the sides and bottom of just nasty. The water was freezing in the indoor pool. The Wi-Fi was pretty good, but our room was very close to the front office. Rooms 144, 145, 146 were the furthest away from everything. The beds were comfortable, and the room itself was very spacious. The fridge didn't feel very cold, but our food and drinks stayed cool for 2 days. The bathroom was pretty tiny, but it was clean. We would definitely stay here again. Just a half mile away is Mt. Wellington Market which opens at 6:30 a.m. during the summer, and they serve coffee, tea, beer!, and have hot breakfast sandwiches. Also, a boat rental place was about 5 mins away. read more

Lake'n Pines Motel was perfect for my family. Initially we went and checked a room out at the local big chain, but decided that wasn't for us. I called Lake'n Pines and they were so friendly. We went and checked it out and it was perfect for us. Yea it's a little dated but theres character. They offer a nice breakfast. Everybody working there is friendly. This Motel is for people who don't travel someplace to get the exact same room they could get anywhere else in the country. I'd reccomend it. The service, views, and character make up for any flaws. read more

We stayed here last minute for Father's Day weekend and it was great! The place is definitely old but VERY clean which is very important to me. The staff checking us in and out were pleasant and nice. The rooms were nice and had your basic needs. The beds were good and the bathroom was clean. The views from the rooms are breathtaking. We stayed near the ice machine which I thought would be an issue but we did not hear anything after 9:15ish. The continental breakfast was just okay. They had bread for toasting, begals, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee. I thought they would have some fresh fruit but they didn't. The hill to get to the breakfast area is steep so elderly or handicapped people would have to drive down. The outdoor pool is nice and my kids enjoyed it. We did not visit the indoor poor, game room, or use the paddle boats. Overall it was a nice place to stay and would return. Thank you. read more

Great location and located with awesome views of the lake. Older motel but most are in this area and it was clean and safe. Got a room with a lake view balcony which did not disappoint. We went in late September so it was too cold for the outside pool but the indoor pool and hot tub were great! Good channel tv lineups. Decent continental breakfast with seating overlooking the lake. Really cute place and affordable. Would have liked a more updated shower, as ours was pretty old (but clean!) and small but overall, pretty great place to stay. read more
