The reason why I hadn't gotten her into her own "apartment" or facility, is because of what my mind thought an assisted living facility was going to be. I didn't want my Grandmother to be in a place that wasn't well maintained, or where the staff were abusive in any way etc etc. All the horror stories that one hears about pertaining to elder care facilities. Well, The Granville is ANYTHING but! From the second we toured the location right before the pandemic, I was put at ease. The residents seemed happy, the entire place was decorated just beautifully and extremely clean, and the staff was just so nice! It really felt like home! The help and expertise that they provided to me in getting my Grandmother approved was also a Godsend, because all of the paperwork can be tricky for someone not familiar! My Grandmother's apartment was just so lovely too! She was able to decorate it how she wanted, and there is a little kitchenette area with a fridge and microwave so she can have her favorite snacks. She has been there over a year now and I couldn't have asked for a better location to have provided the utmost care during the pandemic. They even took the necessary precautions one week ahead of time before the Government shut everything down. To accommodate all the residents who now were unfortunately unable to leave their rooms, must have been such an undertaking!! But the staff still made my Grandmother and the other residents not feel neglected and forgotten about. Making little crafts and spending a little more time with the residents so they didn't feel so alone during this scary time. They went above and beyond making sure everyone was kept safe and stayed healthy and just did an incredible job and am so grateful to everyone at The Granville. I could go on and on about the staff being just perfect and everything I could have ever hoped for, for my Grandmother. If you have a loved one and you are feeling apprehensive about locating a place where you can rest easy at night knowing they're being cared for properly and with respect, then look no further. My Grandmother absolutely LOVES living at The Granville! She has made friends, still has her independence and adores the staff! I am eternally grateful for finding the Granville and cannot thank Sara, Joe, Kathy, Jamie, Mary and the rest of the entire staff for providing this location and the care that they give to someone that means SO much to me!

He was in a couple of other facilities that were below par before we found the Granville. From the moment we walked in, we felt that this was home. Sara, the executive director helped us with the transition paperwork and made it totally painless. The employees really make you feel like they are part of the extended family. Joe, Donna, Alicia, are just a few of the great "family" members that always have a friendly smile. I could go on and on about all of the wonderful things about the Granville. Since dad moved in I have had to move about 60 miles away and I would love to have him closer, but I haven't found any other facility that can match the Granville. For me, the drive is more than worth it to have him live here. The Granville is always clean, the employees are warm and friendly, activities are available, the meals nutritious, meds are accurate and the apartments wonderful. Since dad has lived here they have spent money on capital improvements to keep the facility in top shape and comfortable for their residence. I strongly caution families against placing a loved one at Mountain Vista Memory Care. We had…read morenothing but trouble throughout my dad's time there, but the following are a few of our most serious concerns. During his stay, my dad was given a high dosage of Haldol that left him unable to get out of bed, incontinent, and unable to swallow properly. He lost more than 40 pounds, yet our family was never notified about the severity of his decline. We watched him deteriorate to the point that he appeared comatose and was unable to eat. Our experience with the nursing leadership and director Jason left us with no confidence in their judgment, honesty, or willingness to take responsibility. A memory care facility is entrusted with people who often cannot advocate for themselves. Families should be immediately informed about major weight loss, difficulty swallowing, drastic changes in mobility, and the effects of powerful medications, not left to discover the condition of their loved one after the damage has been done. We also received deeply troubling reports from people inside the facility about how our dad was being treated. I will not identify those individuals publicly, but what they shared reinforced what our family was witnessing firsthand. Instead of working with our family to remove our father from their care, Mountain Vista transferred him to the emergency room by ambulance and within 24 hours had filed paperwork stating that it could no longer meet his care needs and refused to allow him to return. We later learned that staff had reportedly been told ahead of time that he would not be coming back. Based on that sequence of events, the hospital told us it was not a legitimate medical transfer but rather a planned way to remove him from the facility. Based on what happened to my dad, I would never trust this facility with another vulnerable family member. Families should remember that the initial tour is a sales process and may not reflect the communication, accountability, or quality of care they will experience after move-in.

The residents there have been dealing with a Bed bug outbreak since December, 2014. 2 Totally…read moreinfested apts. and Mattresses thrown out balconies only to set there for 2 to 3 days...even the Trash Removal would not take them...covered in bed bugs. They are spraying only the apartments of people they like. The others...The owner Ficco Brother's Construction and the manager David Archuleta, just tell them "If you don't like it, Move." One of the tenant''s reported it in January, 2015 and out of retaliation...they have given this person a notice to vacate by the end of March. Because of the bed bugs, all of the furniture has to left behind. Most of the residents have not been told about the Bed bugs and David Archuleta (manager) are renting out apartments to new tenants without telling them about the Bed bug infestations. One couple was moved in right next door to one of the major infested apartments. Yikes!!!!!! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone, not even if it were free to live there. BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS...Don't let them get away with this!!!! Owners- The Ficco Brother's Construction Company owns this place. Check out their website. They make 5,000,000,000 and they can;t spray Applewood Retirement Community FOR BED BUGS!!!????? The spot spraying they have done...just makes the BED BUGS move to the next Apartments surrounding it. Our family can't imagine our eighty-nine year old mother being anywhere other than The Oberon…read more She's been happy (even during the Covid lockdown!) and well taken care of for the four and a half years she's lived there. We believe the main reason The Oberon is so wonderful is that it is privately owned and the owners are on-site most days. They are very accessible and really care. The remodeled estate on the hill truly feels like home and not a made-up corporate cookie-cutter business. The turnover of staff members seems to be much lower than at other assisted living facilities, so consistency of care is well maintained. The staff and residents are all treated with respect. Our mother loves the food and the gardening and the activities are awesome! We are grateful.

I've worked in the field for 8 years ( so as you can imagine, I've had training and experience in several facilities) This place was absolutely draining, on all levels. The façade of a beautiful building, and well lit gardens, and exceptional " Care provided to the residents" is absolute delusion. I have watched our team, my residents whom I provide care to, and my own well being turn completely downhill, which is why I feel the need to speak on this. Management and HR are not friendly, or welcoming or empathetic towards care staff at all, instead they are rude and entitled and walk the building with nothing but a higher demeanor, than those who actually provide care to these residents and work extremely hard on the floor providing care, and respect and constant interaction to these residents. I have not had a single, welcoming or open minded- conversation with any management since our previous HR has left the building. I have instead ran into conversations where those who do their jobs, and do an amazing job at it, are consistently belittled by HR and management. Yet, those who are lazy but favorited by management are constantly allowed passes for behaviors and LACK of care to these residents. The job itself is stressful, yes. But we all get into this field even as Caregivers to do our jobs and do the best we can. We also have lives outside of work environments, and some harder than others. This is where survival mode and flight of fight play a role- but to those that show up everyday and WORK THE FLOOR- we are discarded and picked apart -daily, but also while being extremely understaffed and drained ourselves. Yet still- NO support from our HR or ED or management as a whole. I have never felt so out of touch with a work environment claiming to do so much good for these residents- meanwhile disregarding and completely out of touch with their employees whom actually work with these residents and are the ones providing care. Pay compensation and expectations are not lined up at all. all this goes to say- Please DO BETTER, for our residents, for your care staff. for OURSELVES. No job should be or feel this draining on every level.

I won't deny that this is one of the most…read morebeautiful facilities in town but, scratch the surface and this is what you will REALLY find: * Repeated reviews about understaffing during the night * Repeated reviews complaining about overworked night aides * Repeated reviews where family members are suspicious of, or flat out accuse staff members of creating positive reviews (this explains why so many reviews go from 5 stars down to one star) How do I know about their problems? First, I am a nurse educator with a master's degree in nursing. Second, I reviewed Colorado's State Licensure discipline made against Gardens on Quail. LICENSURE DISCIPLINE: On 3/19/23, Gardens on Quail's license was disciplined for what the state of Colorado labeled "Physical Abuse". An older woman was found tied to her wheelchair which is against the law. Allow me to explain WHY these sort of events happen: when a facility is understaffed and aides are overworked, they were simply trying to keep their patient safe. FAILURE TO MAINTAIN POWER BACK-UP Other problems: a few weeks ago the facility had a power outage and their emergency power generator did not work. When the heaters stopped working, my dad got cold, so he pressed his call light. It was not working either! While trying to seek help, he went into the dark and uninhabited hallway, fell, and laid there for an undisclosed period of time. IT IS A STATE REQUIREMENT THAT MEDICAL FACILITIES MAINTAIN BACK-UP POWER. I asked three staff members if my dad had his walker or wheelchair with him when he was lying on the floor in the dark hallway and no one seemed to know any details, nor did they get back to me. INSUFFICIENTLY TRAINED NURSE AIDES (called QMAPS) If your loved one resides here, PLEASE, TAKE IT UPON YOURSELF TO CLOSELY SUPERVISE MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION because it is being performed by nurse aides who underwent a short med training program. My dad kept getting repeat eye infections. He then revealed the aide was violating infection control practices by touching the eye dropper to his eye. The nurse aide also did not know how to properly administer eye drops because they mixed two different types of drops, instead of waiting between the different prescriptions. This could potentially make eye drops ineffective.
