I had problems with GE fixing my washer even with my service agreement I already paid for 7 months ago. GE was awful. Appliance Central was 1.5 hrs early, fixed my machine in less time quoted AND gave me excellent advice on using this washer. The two of them worked well together. They were fabulous. The price was cheaper than quoted plus he said if I send in the paid invoice, GE may pay me my small bill of $120.00. read more

We only asked Kevin a couple questions while he was here but he seemed so put out and disgusted just being here that the questions had to be repeated just to get an answer. One question was "are you almost done?" We both have health issues and he agreed on the phone when making this appointment that he would wear a mask that we would provide and we would ware ours also. Part way thru his job he removed his mask. I asked him if he would put it back on but he said he couldn't breathe thru it. It's interesting how women in the health care profession are able to wear these masks for a 12 hour shift. After I asked him to put it back on he reluctantly put it back on then off then on again. He might be good at his job but he is not a pleasant human being. We do not want him in our home again. We will go with a different company. It is going to be interesting to read what excuses he will come up with like he did on his other numerous negative reviews. read more

This company has been the BEST to work with!! We had an issue with our dryer, and used another company before working with Appliance Central. The last guy gave up and didn't try to fix our problem.. just slapped a couple of bandaids on it and gave up. But Kevin took the time to research and troubleshoot until the issue was completly resolved!! I have been so impressed with his knowledge and technical skill. What Happened To Customer Service?..... My wife and I bought our GE refrigerator a year and a half ago. At about the 11 month mark, we thought it needed to be examined because the freezer rack wasn't moving as smoothly as it should. Since the refrigerator was still under warranty, GE sent a local repair shop to check things out. That shop.....Appliance Central of Arroyo Grande.....fixed the problem in fairly short order. However, after they finished, we asked the 2 guys to take a look at replacing the cartridge in the refrigerator's water filter. It's an easy task, but for some reason our replacement cartridge would not simply slide into the casing. Those 2 guys spent an hour working on the cartridge. Finally, it fit and we were back in business. Fast forward 6 months to the next time we needed to replace the cartridge. Same thing happened. The replacement just would not fit...and we knew it was the correct one. I called Appliance Central and left a message. I waited 4 days and didn't hear from them. Left another message and waited 3 days. Again, no reply. Why didn't they answer my calls? Too busy? Something wrong with their answering machine? Memory of spending an hour to do the same thing 6 months ago? I don't know, but I didn't wait to find out and called another place. read more

I would find another appliance service if I had the choice but they were sent by my warranty company. I think they would be better if I lived in SLO but Kevin says they only come up to North County 2 times a week. It made getting my warranty repair take much much longer that I thought. It took even longer to get my dryer replaced. Despite multiple negative reviews I found Appliance Central to be competent, and extremely efficient in making repairs.Yes the owner is old school and can sound a bit salty, don't be offended, just who he is. He listened to my appliance problem, was able to make a likely diagnosis over the phone and said no point in coming to my house until the part he needed was in hand. A few days later one of his repairman arrived, on time, and had my appliance fixed in 15 minutes. Yes the repairman was also old school, but the important part is he too was knowledgeable, competent, and efficient. My take away is if you want done right, are not afraid a possibly ok'd school and touch salty interaction you will get 5 star appliance repair service. If you are going be needy, waist their time, or expect a mint on your pillow so to speak call someone else. I for one will not hesitate to get it done right the first time and call Appliance Central next time I need appliance repair service. Trust way more efficient than some of the guys at A&E (Sears appliance repair). read more

Rude & Dishonest Company!! Hello Today is Thursday, May 21, 2020, I had Appliance Central come out to fix my G.E. Washer which I purchase from Costco.com and purchased my warranty through SquareTrade.com. Appliance Central did call ahead to let me know that they were coming out, but this is after not coming the previous day when they were supposed to becoming to my home. But when they arrived today, they walked up to my garage did not great me and they were wearing white masks (due to the health epidemic) where I could not see their faces. They were not friendly on the phone and while in my presence and acted like they did not believe me when I told them the symptoms of the washer. They also took leftover parts which was sent to my home by Square Trade prior to them coming out, which were not replaced on my washing machine. Overall, no customer service and a rude demeanor, and there was no explanation of what was wrong with my washer. I also let my warranty Square Trade know how rude they were acting towards me! Therefore, I am writing on Yelp and noticed that I was not the only customer they treated like this! Sad!! Reply to Owner Appliance Central was going to leave without not even explaining what was wrong with my washer. I had to ask the representative from Appliance Central where my invoice paperwork was after completing their job. Also, the reviews show that you do not like to give good customer service. I feel your company does not like to do warranty work and that is why I had such rude service. I feel that the only reason why you have the little 5-star reviews is because you cater to the regular non-insurance claims customers and probably increase the prices on them. read more

We have used Kevin and his assistant twice in the last 12 years to repair our Sub Zero wine cooler. The first instance was a warranty repair and the work quality was so good the cooler lasted 12 years. The compressor and several other parts finally quit. Kevin did a complete rebuild and I'm certain it will outlast me. When you are dealing with a quality unit like Sub Zero, you hire only qualified repair personnel. read more

The negative reviews regarding Appliance Central can not be based on actual service. Kevin is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I had Kevin and his assistant out to service my 21 year old Sub Zero refrigerator and 21 year old Wolf cooktop. Both appliances are working like new and he repaired some structural damage to the cooktop that we did not even know was an issue. We have very old Gaggenau wall ovens. The inside seal strip is frayed and I asked if he could replace it. Since it's also 21 years old, Kevin was doubtful, but did hours of research to find a possible solution. He went over and above and I am very happy to have them as a resource. read more

don't bother. they don't stand by their work. I went through ins company. these guys showed up. dryer was going and not stopping. supposedly that issue was corrected. now 2 months later. exact same problem. they tell me oh. well it must be a different sensor. insurance is only good for 30 days. that's First American. don't go with them either!!!!!!! taking advantage, doesn't stAnd by work at all. it's all about more money more money. read more

Not even worthy of a one star rating. Absolutely do not use this service. The owner, who I contacted today to repair my dishwasher, was completely unprofessional, rude, and made disparaging comments to me. He advised me it would be a week before he could service the dishwasher. When I stated I wanted it done sooner if possible, his response was, "sorry you have to wash dishes for a week," sarcastically. When I asked him to be respectful to me as a customer and someone who has worked as a working professional also (police officer and paramedic for 30 years), his response was "I'm not one of your parolees." Talked over me constantly also. I hope he recorded the call and dare him to deny any of this. As a paying customer, trying to give him business during financial hard times for most people, his attitude and unprofessionalism speak volumes about his character and him not needing / wanting the work. I just spoke with someone named Kevin from this company who spoke with me over the phone in a condescending tone. I purchased a fridge online that came with damaged door panels which the company sent replacements and told me to contact this repair service for assistance with replacement and was assured would be covered. Rather than using customer service skills which this man clearly did not have, he immediately snapped who would pay for it and went on to say that the other company needs to call with a credit card number. While that may be the case , this could have been communicated differently. Instead I felt attacked over the phone. If this is how customers are treated, I wouldn't recommend this company or their services to anyone. I will happily go somewhere else. read more

I purchased an extended warranty for my GE Appliances and I had a problem with the heating element for the dishwasher not working and the freezer drawer caking with ice which I assumed needed a new seal. I contacted Costco and they set up an appointment with this company Appliance Central about 2 weeks after my call. I actually delayed a trip so I could be here when the repairman came. Because of all the spam calls I do not answer unrecognized phones and in fact on my phone greeting I say as much and to leave a message and I will call back. I saw a missed call there was no message left but I recognized the area code and since I expected them to come by that day since that was the date scheduled for my appointment I called the number. Someone answered that was slurring his speech and when I figured the person was with Appliance Central I asked him when he was going to be by to fix the appliances. The person was very unprofessional and pretty clueless. I did have the refrigerator/freezer worked on soon after purchase and they changed something out, he was very short and demeaning and was shouting well was it the compressor, cooling unit, solinoid and listed off other parts. I told him I had no idea and if I knew all these part names I would probably be in the repair business and just fix it myself. I again asked him what time he was going to come by to fix the units since I have already been waiting weeks. He yelled out I AIN'T GONA drive all the way out there I TOLD YOU I CANT FIX ANY THING WITHOUT THE PARTS!. I responded by saying don't you need to come out here to know what parts to order and assess the problem and this BUFFON again said he "I AIN'T GONA drive out there. This place is terrible. I had a warranty repair on a dishwasher. Associated Service set up a date. I called them directly to confirm. They demurred and set an alternate. This was fine but was about 2 weeks out. About the day before he calls me and rescheduled again. They showed up and did the repair telling me it was all fixed. I tried to use it the next day and it failed. Since it was now the weekend I had to wait until Monday to call in the issue. The warranty company scheduled authorized the return since the unit was still nonfunctional. They scheduled themselves in about another week. They kept their appointment this time although they kept saying it was working when they left. They came out and found a problem saying they needed a part. After a couple of weeks I called them back asking if they had the part. They admitted they were in possession of it but did not explain why they didn't call me first. They scheduled themselves out another week. They gave themselves a four hour window to show up (oh,we will be there in the morning sometime) They did finally fix it read more

I scheduled a repair online with GE and received confirmation via email. A week later, on the day and time of the appointment, this company called to ask a few questions and say they would coming the following week. When I asked why they were contacting us now, a week after I scheduled the appointment, I was given no clear explanation. When the technicians arrived the following week, they were cold and uncommunicative. I expect professionalism and courtesy when I open the door to my house when my wife and children are home. I have nothing bad to say about the workmanship, it was a simple fix for which I appreciated . Having our refrigerator out of service for 2 weeks with a toddler at home was challenging. Personally, I value costumer service and communication above all. I never write reviews on yelp but feel this company's management and ownership need to implement better policies as it relates to how they treat those they serve. read more

I would not refer this company to anyone. They do not give correct instructions to the repairman and they do not return phone calls. I can't even fax over a letter...the fax machine doesn't pick up nor does anyone in the office ever answer a phone call. Our experience was we told them what we needed done, a washer to be checked for the belt, it was incorrectly input on the work order, so the repairman thought he was checking the "spin cycle on the dryer" Hello....... And then all he did was look and listen to the washer, when he finally got the right house......another thing left off the work order, and then proceeded to take down the brand name and other info we gave to the company BEFORE he went out there. Either he didn't have the info or just didn't know what to do. He didn't even touch the appliance, didn't lift the lid, nothing. He actually just stood outside in the hall, didn't even go in the bathroom! And charged $79.00???? Really disappointed in the way this company is run. read more

Doesn't even deserve one star. The owner is rude beyond belief. Was scheduled to come out this morning between 8:30 and noon to fix a broken dryer. Called at 9:30 to tell me that he only comes to our area on Tuesday. Take it or leave it. We left it. So should you. Don't give this guy your hard-earned money. Run, don't walk, away from this company. There are plenty of other appliance repair companies in this area that do a wonderful job with a pleasant demeanor. He is a service provider (and i use that term loosely) for Best Buy. Don't use him. Call Best Buy and specifically tell them that you do not want him to do the service. If the other reviews are any indication of his workmanship, we will all be better off using someone else. Personally, I would rather use a clothesline than allow this rude guy into my home and/or give him any money from any source. read more

As with Anthony on 9/4/2018, I too don't understand the 1 star reviews. I called App. Central as I needed help replacing a clothes washer pump, thought I could do it myself. They booked me in for 3 working days later, showed up in the window they stated, and fixed the issue without having to move the 250 lb machine. We had purchased all the appliances from them 15 years ago, and every time we had an issue (maybe 4 times), they have been there for me. Remember, they are a service company, and you aren't their only client. If they are late, so be it. It's not like they were sitting at a park wasting time. They were doing the same diligent work for someone else, that you would expect for your appliances. That's why they are late, or trying to jam one more needy person in. Or the ran into a problem fixing someone else's unit and it is taking them longer than expected. Wouldn't you want that from them? They have earned my trust and dollars...I would use no one else. Look at the reviews, for many of the bad ones, the writer did not tell the whole story...and the client was a jerk. Respect what they do, because you can't do it. Note, my address is not Northside San Jose. I am just outside of SLO...a local! And for those who said they would never use them again, I think that is great! Go somewhere else, please!!! I was very impressed with Kevin. His customer service and competence were exemplary. Not only did he communicate well with me, but also, he was proactive in figuring out what the problem with my oven was and brought the part with him...he diagnosed the issue correctly, before even seeing the oven, based on the information I gave him. Therefore, it saved me and my landlord money, since he ordered the part in advance, preventing a future visit. He also gave me a tip on calibrating the oven temperature, which, again, saves $$$$ for my landlord...I know how to do it now so he doesn't have to come out in the future. If you can, use another appliance repair shop! My dishwasher went on the fritz, so my home warranty company selected Appliance Central to do the work. First off they never called, so we had to call to make the appointment. They only give you a choice of one day of the week as they only service certain cities on certain days. Of course the only day they come to Lompoc is Thursday, the craziest day for my wife and I. We coordinated to have my mother-in-law meet the tech at the appointment window of 1-5. The tech didn't show up until 5:10 with no call to alert us he'd be late! Furthermore, the tech was obviously bothered that he was working late and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. He leveled the dishwasher that has been in operation for two years prior and said that was the cause of the problem. He took our money and left. 20 minutes after he left, the dishwasher faulted again. What a waste of time! Our warranty company contacted them to see when they can come back out and were even rude to them! I guess they don't need the business! Our Warranty company is moving on from them and has authorized us to go elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

They claimed to fix oven after 3rd visit...still doesn't work. We had a positive experience with this company. I purchased a Capital Range from the Appliance Central appliance store 4 years ago and it needed to be checked out due an ignition issue. The store is no longer around, but the service man is apparently. Capital Range recommend this company for service to their appliances. The repairman was courteous and efficient. Customer service and repair - Avoid if at all possible! This Company never calls to confirm an appointment. Which if that was all then that is fine, because all of us should have some personal responsibility. However, they will change the time of the appointment and never tell you until they are at your door wondering where you are at. My washing machine had a recall, so they were the agent GE hired to come and replace the parts. When I called GE - GE said that Appliance Central would come out on a particular day, but that they would call to arrange a time for that to happen. Appliance Central never followed through with the setup. When they called to ask where I was, I told them I never knew when they were coming and since I live 40 minutes from where I worked that it was not going to be possible to meet this appointment. They reschedule for another day at 3:30 - on that day they called me at 1:00 wondering where I was. Again not the agreed upon time. Now - the third time - they set up that they will be there between 8-12. I called them at noon to ask if they had a new estimated ETA - the owner said the technician was delayed and was supposed to of notified us of that. Which he did not - but supposedly the tech was headed towards the house and should now be there by 1. Waited until 1:20 - still no tech! When I called the owner back - i was told that there was nothing else he could do - but to just wait and they would get to me when they could. Finally at 2 the tech showed up - was inconsiderate and rude - and spent all of 3 minutes installing the part before leaving. My recommendations - if you have any say at all - find someone else to assist you with repairs and service. read more

We had to have a gas dryer stacked on top of a washer in a tight closet space and two other local companies weren't willing to try to do so. Kevin listened to my dilemma and we set up a time to try to get the dryer stacked and installed. I was taken aback because he was very professional the whole time, unlike the other companies. Kevin was very methodical and instead of insisting it couldn't be done like the other companies, thought through logically the best way in which this dryer can be stacked on the washer in a tight space. The other companies kept mentioning that I should have bought a different model of washer and dryer, which didn't really help my current situation at the time at all. Appliance central focused on what they came out to do, did so quickly, and charged a very reasonable fee for it. I wish I had called them in the first place to do the installation because we had been without a dryer for over a month before Kevin came along. Very impressed with Kevin and his team. read more
