My dryer started making weird noises when running. I suspected a foreign object got inside. I made a survey for appliance repair companies. Some charge you to come and will credit you if you choose to go with them. Some charge you to come and will not credit. Since I was not keen on paying for the quote, then get a high quote, then lose the service charge, I tried to get an estimate of the cost by asking "How much will repair be if no parts are needed?" or "How much is the cost of labor per hour?" All appliance repair companies avoided answering this question except for Appliance Solutions, which gave me an affordable price. I chose them and they fixed the dryer. I messaged Tad last week to come out and look at our washer and ice maker. He responded very quickly and was able to come out the next day. When he came out he was very friendly and helpful. He looked at both and said the washer looked fine but that our ice maker need to be replaced. He didn't charge me any service fee since we decided to have him replace the ice maker. My dishwasher stopped working all of a sudden so I went on yelp to find a repair guy. I sent a request for a quote to a number of different service companies, and Tad was the first to reply within a few minutes. We set up an appointment same day, he came right on time, diagnosed what the potential issue could be and gave me a few options on how to move forward including the price breakdown for each. The drain was blocked and he was able to fix the issue in a few minutes. I negotiated a lower rate than what he originally quoted, but when it came time to paying, he realized he had charged me his standard rate. I was happy with the service so I told him not to worry about it, but he still insisted and issued a refund for the discount. Before he left, he asked if there were other appliances I needed help with which reminded me our ice breaker wasn't working properly. this review reflects the repair done back in November'19. the ice maker would keep taking water but no ice was being made. moreover, the ice that was already made was turning into a big solid slab of ice. the guy came over, diagnosed the problem and did the repair the next day with the parts he bought. he showed me how the piece he repaired was mulfunctioning. it all made sense, we paid and he left. it turned out to be a more involved problem; after the first repair the ice maker still wasn't working properly. i called and the same guy came back. after a second examination he saw what the problem was. he apologized sincerely for missing the second problem and then followed up to spend another two hours to fix it. then he stayed with us another 30min chatting to see whether everything was ok. finally he REFUSED to get paid for the second visit. nine months later ice maker still works great. thank you! read more
