Had a great experience. Arlin was professional and very experienced. Right away he knew how to relieve my back pain, and most exciting, my plantar fasciitis! I've spent close to $1,000 and multiple visits at the podiatrist but received more permanent relief from one visit to Arlon. Regarding the lady who felt creeped out, I understand her complaint and would never advise someone to stay if they weren't comfortable. My experience was that Arlon is a medical massage therapist, not the fluff and buff type. When you see him it's not about quiet music and New Age music. He's going to get to the heart of the issue and provide relief. His new office in Grapevine is much more updated and feels more open with lots of light. He was professional with me. I've recommended him to a coworker that also was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. read more

Wow. I didn't know there was such a classification as Medical Massage. As I understand the difference it makes so much sense. I have been having some minor numbness in my feet and had doctors and other massage therapists take a look and see if they could help. No progress. I received a Groupon for Christmas and I was excited to book the massage at Applied Therapeutic Sciences. It was close-by, the building had a nice look from the drive-by. I was hopeful. My appointment was early and I was on edge from the start, especially when I realized I was the ONLY person in the building, besides the owner/masseuse...Red Flag. Not a normal situation I create for myself when I'm about the shuck my clothes! I stopped by the restroom and was dismayed to see the sink, floor and around the toilet were in need of deep cleaning. I washed my hands, touched nothing and forged ahead. The owner escorted me back to the massage room and gave me the typical instructions to prepare for the massage. I was so hopeful that the massage room would make me more comfortable...again I was disappointed. The room was cluttered with stuff on the counters and the floor. Including some piece of equipment that had a large MIRROR on the front right next to the massage table. I felt uncomfortable with the mirror in the room with me. Did I mention my concern to the owner ? No, but I should have. I was told to lie face up, which put me looking into the east facing window with the sun streaming in. I needed my sunglasses for sure. Cue the headache. The massage was okay, but not good enough to overlook everything that was wrong. This is a no frills place to get a massage and that will be fine for some. I want nice, crisp sheets on the massage table, a room that relaxes me and a masseuse who puts me at ease. read more

I purchased a Groupon for $70 that included two separate 60-minute Swedish massages. I booked the appointment for 4:30 p.m. I showed up to the location (older house) and was greeted by the owner (Arlon). The setting of the place seemed very dated, and a bit cluttered. The atmosphere wasn't anything that I imagined it to be for a professional massage therapy business. I was given paperwork to complete, and while filling this out I realized that I was the only one there. Although Arlon seemed nice, I asked him if there was anyone else here and he said no. He did state he understood my concern and normally likes to have someone else here with first-time customers, but he said the ladies don't like to stay after 5. It was 4:30. He did state more than once if at any time I feel uncomfortable to just let him know. I was asked what parts I wanted him to focus on and I replied with just my neck and back. I was shown to a room in the back of the house and told to undress to at least my underwear, while he left the room. The room was really small, older looking accommodations, and the blanket was really rough feeling that I was to use to drape my body. I waited on the table all bundled up when he approached the door and told me to face up. Out of the corner of my eye and at bed level, I saw a 70's looking portrait of what may have been a picture of him in his early years. I just got a really ill feeling about everything when he patted me on my foot. Feeling really freaked out, I just told him I really didn't feel comfortable. I asked him if at any time does he have office personnel that work and he said not really. He told me he could have his wife available if that made me feel better, or he could set me up with his female massage therapist. I got dressed, made a return appt with his female therapist. I apologized to him, but the atmosphere just creeped me out and there was no way I was going to get a massage. He asked me if I ever got a personal massage before, and I replied I have gone to a reflexologist before but the setting was more like a medical facility. He told me he likes a more relaxed atmosphere because he gets a lot of children in with severe issues. Feeling really strange about my experience & a bit creeped out, I looked him up on Yelp. It appears that the same address is also associated with "Bodies Made Elegant", which has a bad Yelp review. This place scares me and I will NOT be returning. I just wanted someone else to be aware of my experience, but of course choose for yourself. read more
