My husband signed a contract with a door-to/door rep who was very kind and seemed professional. That was the only positive we've experienced in 3 months. The first service was performed during the middle of a downpour. It was really a complete waste. In fact, we called a week later because we noticed multiple wasp nests with active wasps as well as even more ant piles than before they came. They came back 9 days after the initial spray and redid that job. We didn't hear back from them until 6+ weeks later when they came to spray again. And now we're going on another 6+ weeks without service. The sales rep explained to us someone would come out on a monthly basis to spray, however after calling and speaking with customer service, we were informed the service is billed monthly, but they only physically come out every 2-3 months. I'm sure had we closely read the contract, we would have seen this, but we trusted what the rep said. Huge mistake on our part. Aptive wanted to charge us a $199 cancellation fee to get out of our contract even though they didn't uphold their end of the contract-- and the work was subpar. We have seen no improvement in pests since being with Aptive. After we refused to pay the cancellation fee, they offered a highly discounted monthly rate to which we agreed to pay until the end of our contract. However, as soon as our contract is expired, we will 100% not be moving forward with this unprofessional, unreliable, and untrustworthy company. read more

After 2 visits I still have ants, spiders, scorpions, etc....they claim it takes more than 2 visits to see results. Being that they only come once a quarter, that means you should not expect results until 9 months later. SMH. This weekend, a door-to-door salesman came to my neighborhood. I told him twice that I already had pest control services and wasn't interested in what he was selling. Even after I said it the second time, he just kept talking as if I hadn't said anything at all. Eventually, I had to shut the door on him. I also had three dogs barking behind me, which made it more chaotic. I explained again that I already had pest control, but he continued his pitch. After I closed the door, he gave a smirk, almost as if he found the situation amusing. While I can't comment on the quality of their pest control services, the attitude of their salespeople is concerning. I was using Aptive for many years for multiple rental homes. I had recurring issues with pest complaints from many tenants and guests and thought maybe those were just outlier issues. Then one day I had a report for roaches and mice that they' said they sent a special technician to treat for. After multiple appointments and lots of rental revenue lost due to cancellations, I called Alta Pest control who were able to resolve it in less than 2 weeks. I tried cancelling services with Aptive only to get a complete runaround from them trying to avoid cancelling services. Now that I've almost made the complete shift to Alta, I realize that Aptive has basically been a scam all these years. The incompetence and lack of quality of service is something I've been dealing with for too long. Overpriced and underserved for way too long. Absolutely do not recommend this company after dealing with one of their reps this afternoon. Apparently this is the second complaint on Yelp regarding the man in question and Aptive has done nothing to rectify the problem. At 2:20pm today, this man knocks on my door and I decide I'm not going to answer. Right before he leaves, he decides he's going to aggressively bang at my door like he owns the place and scurries away. I confront him outside to question who he works for and what his name is, but my only responses from him were profanities and aggression. At this moment (6:50pm) he's still going around the neighborhood with the same attitude, after I had called Aptive customer service and reported him. 3 days ago in another neighborhood he was being a problem as well. Total scam! Don't waste your money! They came out last month. We told them we have roaches. They signed us up on a two year contract and sprayed. They said it will take a couple weeks for the roaches to start dying. Fast forward a month. Still have roaches. Called them and schedule an appointment. Best they could tell me was "we will be there between 8am and 5pm. I sat around the house all day waiting for them. Called twice and again all they could tell me was 8am-5pm. They didn't show. Finally at 6:45pm the texted saying -30-75 minutes. Nobody was going to be home. They came and sprayed the front outside of the house and said they would come back for free next time. I called to reschedule. This time, because I raised a stink, they told me 8am-12pm. They actually showed up this time, but told me I would have to pay $118.00 on top of my monthly charge if I wanted them to spray for roaches. Duh....that was why I called them the first time. We told them to kick rocks and that we were going to cancel all Aptive services. The guy had the balls to tell me there would be a $200.00 cancelation fee. We had Aptive Pest Control salespeople roaming our neighborhood [Oakland Heights Subdivision, San Antonio, Texas], claiming they would be working in the area and just wanted to let us know. While initially courteous, they were asked to leave multiple times but refused to respect residents' requests. Their persistence became intrusive, making many neighbors uncomfortable. A company should train its representatives to respect boundaries and understand that pushy door-to-door sales methods often create frustration rather than trust. If a resident declines services or requests privacy, that decision should be honored. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Aptive Pest Control. read more

This company thinks it's ok to ignore the law and people's boundaries and STILL knock on the door to solicit. I wonder what boundaries they step over when they are on the job. To their credit I will say this company used to be good. But not anymore. Firstly, they've always been one of the most expensive out there. Which is fine if the product worked and they didn't make working with them as much of a hassle as humanly possible. Which brings me to the second point. They've outsourced their customer service somewhere overseas and have now fully adopted shady business practices. I would not be surprised to learn the original owners sold out and a new management team came in to squeeze as much out of this business as possible with doing the least amount of work (and least amount of customer service). I was on a quarterly schedule, and at random, they decided to come out every 20-40 days with no approvals or notice of the change in policy. Or even state any reason WHY they changed the policy. They then proceed to charge full price each time they come out as well (who needs pest control every 20 days on a residential property that doesn't have a very specific pest issue?). So $140/per quarter balloons to almost $600 very quickly before you have a chance to even review what's going on. To make matters even worse, they send you to collections almost immediately upon an unpaid invoice. So now you have the threat of dealing with a 3rd party...All the while, mind you, they're still coming out to service future visits every 20 days (not pausing even though you've been sent to collections... like what in the psychosis is this?) to rack up even more credit for you to owe them in the future. So you're probably asking yourself there's no way this could get worse, right? False. How they make it EVEN WORSE is this wasn't the first time they've tried this shady practice style. Two years ago, I had to argue with them for doing this same thing to me, changing the schedule without notice or reason. Except that time, again to their credit, they ended up admitting fault and credited me 3 "free" quarterly service calls. Which I thought was based and fair so I stayed with the company. But this time? They blame you for not knowing and not being updated on THEIR calendar. Bruh...No. Well this time you'll be glad to know I cut the cord with them and switched to an online company that sends you a DIY package for a fraction of the cost. Much better experience. I feel sorry for the actual service people that make the house calls, they were nice and professional. Yet another trashy San Antonio Pest Control company it seems. Must be the third one I've come across using these garbage sales tactics. One of their reps was going through our small neighborhood and so aggressively pushing their product, people started posting to our neighborhood Facebook group. I had spent most the morning trying to get a fussy baby to sleep, so hoping to avoid unnecessary door knocking and doorbell ringing, hand wrote a PLEASE, NO SOLICITING sign (in addition to the one already at the entrance of our housing community) and placed it on my door. Despite this, their salesperson still knocked loudly and aggressively and rang the doorbell several times. When I pointed out the sign, claimed he was dyslexic and thought it said No Smoking. So not only are they pushy and rude enough to get people calling the non-emergency police number and posting to Facebook, their reps are trained to claim a disability as a reason to ignore posted signs. Also, they hid their license plate on the Black Hyundai Elantra they were driving around our neighborhood in. I'd think it was suspicious people casing the neighborhood, except these are the exact same tactics several other pest control companies I've encountered have used. The products and services might be good, who knows - I'll never find out because there is zero chance I would ever reach out to these people. Horrible, horrible sales practices. Reading up on this company, it seems the founder spent time at Moxie - another pest control company I've had horrible sales experiences with. What a trashy business model. read more

I wish I could give Aptive ZERO STARS! Please read my initial review. My first experience with them was fine. A salesman came to my door, door-knocking recruiting customers. Told me I qualified for a $69 start-up special that included the first treatment as well as the 30-day follow-up treatment. I was happy as ever with my first treatment. The guy, Mike, who performed the treatment was very thorough on the first visit. He did explain the 30-day follow-up appointment was vital because we may see more critters.... which we did so I called Aptive to schedule my 30-day follow-up appointment. Here's where problems begin. I call to schedule my 30-day follow-up appointment to find out that they want to charge me an additional $99 for the 30 day follow-up visit. Even though I explained the salesman told me I was in for a special with the $69 for the initial treatment as well as the 30-day follow-up. Long story short, they haggle you into a contract that it is absolutely impossible to get out of, unless you pay a large fee. I told them I was no longer interested in their services, but they kept calling and kept e-mailing and refused to take no for an answer. That's when Aptive set-up an appointment without my permission ON LABOR DAY when I was not home. My children were home with a sitter and the technician was attempting to unlock my back gate without any permission which is when I was then notified to let the technician know to leave as I DID NOT agree to an appointment on Labor Day. Either way, now I am stuck with a $180 cancellation bill because I no longer want their services and the manager attempted to reach out but still stuck a bill on me even after hearing the entire story. I would advise Aptive to re-train their sales people who are door-knocking in neighborhoods to be accurate in the information that people are signing for and also for those who are unfortunately victims like myself ask more questions or have a hard copy contract before you sign it. I've had a positive experience with this company so far. I read through the other reviews and have not experienced those same issues. I've used them for going on three years now, and have been happy with their service and with the results of the work that they do. I signed up for them when somebody knocked on my door one day which made me skeptical, but I decided to sign up with them because we were having a bit of a pest control problem. They'll come quarterly and I like that they will brush the under sides of the house roof to get rid of wasps nests in addition to spraying for various bugs. I once had a flea problem that was driving me crazy and had to ask Aptive to come out a couple of times to treat the issue but finally they were able to kill the culprits. Every time I've asked for a service between the quarterly scheduled ones. they've always very quickly scheduled it for me at no extra cost. I love that they will communicate through text. Everyone that has come to my house has always been very friendly, courteous, and professional. The techs will always text me when they're on their way and text me when they're done. Sometime, they send pictures as well of their work which I appreciate. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that it is a fairly pricey service. But considering how many extra times outside of the scheduled ones they've come to spray for particular issues I feel like I've gotten my moneys worth in service. The times I've had to call them out for extra Attention have been during weather extremes, during which it is to be expected that the insect issues increase. read more

If you look up "door-to-door" salesman in the dictionary, you should find a picture of guy with a Aptive uniform. The salesman will go on a 30-minute filibuster on tools and bugs that you don't care about without even letting you cut them off to let them know you are not interested. They will also use tactics of dropping their neighbors first names like they referencing them from previous service. This is all done without even asking if you are interested with the assumption they are going to conduct their service and it's your job to talk them out of it. I am appalled at how badly business has been conducted by this company ever since they centralized customer service in 2020. There has been horrible service from people showing up when they should not or not showing up when they should. Also some technicians were sloppy or down-right rude and sloppy. When I asked to be refunded for a service that was incomplete and badly done along with rude service I was told I would get one. Based on a recommendation from a Co-Worker, I agreed to the very polished Sales Pitch by Aptive Environmental. I signed up for a 2-Year Service agreement to treat my Single-Family home for Spiders, Ants and Roaches, I can only tell you, my experience has been, this service is completely ineffective. The agreement includes Service Treatments scheduled every 2-months with FREE return visits if required in between scheduled visits. I was charged $149 for each of the (3) return visits with NO credit or, refund. This is Strike One. After a couple months of incomplete treatments and sloppy Service Technicians' who left a mess on my front porch, the pests continued to be found in and around my home. A Sales Rep. attempted to explain it's possible German Roaches might be the problem which are difficult to treat. REALLY!? There were NO exclusions in any statement by Aptive Environmental which says anything about Foreign Pests. This seems like a failed attempt to explain an issue without really offering a solution. This is Strike Two. I have signed a document which states if I cancel my agreement early, I will be charged a Flat Rate of $199. Upon cancellation, Aptive charged $270.63 which includes the following; $250.00 cancellation and $20.53 Sales Tax, This is indeed a Deceptive Practice. This is Strike Three.
