Did the owner, he is the owner bag my purchases ? Did he offer to help carry out. Well, no he asked me, if I was bagging my purchases okay. I said yes. This pet store is the only one in my area that carries my cats specific food line. I love picking up my cats food becuse there's always something new hanging around. Animals are welcome and there's even treats for visiting doggos. They have a good variety of raw foods to choose from've - that's what I feed my furless fur babies. I've had some questions about my cats who had an upset stomach and the manager/owner has been very knowledgeable and helpful and I appreciate it. He's even met my cat before when I brought her in! I love this place. It has the same old-timey feel that I grew up on (stuff crammed EVERYWHERE...yet highly organized), creaky wooden floors and tall shelves. They have a good selection of raw food, better than Pet Pals, and really decent prices on most everything. The service is great, and Damien is always playing some cool jazz or swing music in the background. All in all, if you need a local pet store to support, this is by far my favorite. As a side note, while they do have a lot of everything, the only thing that's a little limited is leash and collar selection. Not that their selection is bad, but if you're looking for a wide variety to choose from, Pet Pals has a whole aisle dedicate to it. My 11 year old Chi mix was having major issues with her diet with Science Diet dry and Beneful wet and I had multiple vet visits to deal with the issues. Now that the Beneful issues have been exposed (and many dogs have died) I'm sure it's the cause of her problems. I visited Aptos Feed and they suggested an outstanding food regimen, including Origen dry and wet. She loves it and is doing great! Last weekend I ran low on dog food and since they're closed on Sunday I checked the website to be sure they would be open on Monday (Memorial Day). Yep, even listed "Holiday Store Hours", great! Except when I drove over there on Monday there was a handwritten sign on the door saying "closed today, back Tues a.m.". Really? You have loyal customers who want to support you but you can't bother to update your website for their convenience? Just moved to Aptos in June. I cant even make it there to do my shopping. They open after I leave for work and close before I get home from work. Only opportunity for me is Saturday, and that is just not convenient to have one day to plan around. Hopefully in the future they adjust their hours for us working folks. So right now I use Pet Pals, another local family owned business which is open seven days a week until 7 pm. :) read more

I love this store! Yes, they are small and have crowded aisles, but I love the friendly vibe here and their prices are fair. They always have some very cool jazz playing! We have a pair of very finicky Bengal cats and the only food they'll eat was only available in Scott's Valley.I asked Damien if he would order some, and now he carries the entire line. This is a store I want to give my business to. Besides, I live within walking distance, so I save a lot of time and gas. The best part is this store is not part of a chain.
