I love this store! Yes, they are small and have crowded aisles, but I love the friendly vibe here and their prices are fair. They always have some very cool jazz playing! We have a pair of very finicky Bengal cats and the only food they'll eat was only available in Scott's Valley.I asked Damien if he would order some, and now he carries the entire line. This is a store I want to give my business to. Besides, I live within walking distance, so I save a lot of time and gas. The best part is this store is not part of a chain. This is shopping locally done right. The prices are great and the service is excellent. There is no need to go to Safeway or PetSmart when you have the quality, price and service in a local shop. I like that I can purchase a 5-pound bag of guinea pig food for just a couple of bucks. Sure it was hand packed in a large lunch bag, but the saving between that and buying the plastic bag of the same food is several dollars. I also like their prices on wood chip bedding. I buy a HUMONGOUS bag probably 3 x 2x 18" for less than 10 bucks and it lasts for months. read more

But I'm telling you, these people are the best and their prices and products and customer service are well worth the bi-monthly jaunt. I only became a cat-owner a few months ago and now I'm hooked on Aptos Feed. Their location is a bit tricky...turning in and out of their driveway kinda sucks, but I'm finding a loyalty to them that has really surprised me...They earned it. A nice "mom and pop" shop- carries some of the more upscale hard to find pet products. Right now we are just shopping for our cats, but there seems to be a large dog section, as well as other small animal products. I would recommend calling ahead if there is a specific item you are looking for; the limited space means it isn't like a PetWarehouse type place. read more

Several years ago when I first entered this place, I thought, "Whatever. Classic small and pricey." But they are NOT, and have really built a great business. It's amazing how many products that pack into that little store. The staff is almost always busy, so sometimes you have to ask for help; but usually if there is anyone in the aisles they will ask if you need any assistance. That's especially great for people in wheelchairs or who can't carry heavy loads. When I was going through chemo and post-surgery, these guys helped me with everything. These days their prices are generally on par with the big box stores and they have a much broader selection of healthier options for our best friends, anyhow. What's more, any discounts offered by the big box stores can't compete with the cost of gas for a 20 mile round trip, nor the genuine affection for and commitment to our community that Aptos Feed shows. I've become a loyal customer. I'm one of those people who usually withholds the last star for exceptional places. They get five stars from me. read more

Bag of food and am asked "do you need help with that?" duh? Zero customer service. I stand and wait at counter for help trying to get the bag of food I need way down at the bottom. I have lived in Aptos for 30 years, and Aptos Pet and Feed Supply has been there for most of those year. Half the time I try to shop they are closed. Today, I'mv frustrated because I called the shop at 6:02 pm.. Hours of operation are Mon- Sat. 9 am thru 6 pm... What I am very annoyed about is there is NO WAY IN HELL (he, the owner) Closed that store at 6pm! NOT IN 2 Minutes! It took me a minute to locate the Bus. #! In All my years of being self-employed, 2 min. To speak to a customer, when he knew he was closing early, is inexcusable! I would have paid cash! And he still had time to walk past me twice, ignore, until I confronted him, as he continued to load 20-40 lb bags into his full back seat of car! Everyone has a life, I rushed out to buy from my local Business, for my paralysed Dwarf 10 year old bunny! which My daughter and I may have to be put him to sleep after a year of diapering, hand feeding and give him all the love and care we could! Everyone has already said it for this store. It's local, run by a great guy who loves and plays great music, and it is stocked to the brim with pet products. Our two kitties love the selection of food and treats. When we had fish in our pond, they appreciated the food we bought here too. I like visiting the big kitty that lives at the store. Never seen more narrow isles than in the cat section but have come to love the coziness of the set-up.
