another view of long term wear in flex pipe
    Nicole H.

I purchased a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX from APX Auto Brokers in Edmonds, WA, on 12/26/2025. Just days after purchase, I discovered serious, undisclosed safety defects. Timeline of issues: Day 2: Check engine light flashed; strong exhaust and gas odor detected in the cabin. Day 3: Check engine light stayed on. Day 4 (12/30/2025): A certified technician at Airport Welding (Snohomish, WA) found a large, pre-existing hole in the exhaust flex pipe, creating a dangerous carbon monoxide hazard--repaired at my expense ($225). AWD Auto (Bothell) retrieved a P0303 code (Cylinder 3 Misfire), confirming a pre-existing mechanical issue. These issues were not disclosed at the time of sale, creating an immediate safety risk and violating Washington laws on vehicle safety and consumer protection (RCW 19.86, RCW 46.70.180, RCW 46.37.020, RCW 70A.15). An "AS IS" sale does not absolve a dealer from disclosing material safety defects. I have formally demanded a full refund, reimbursement, and unwinding of the sale. Other concerns for future buyers: The online ad misrepresented the vehicle: it listed Bluetooth, CD player, USB port, and keyless entry--but the car has no radio, and we were only given one standard key. The car has several prior modifications, yet the dealer could not confirm if it had been tuned or provide the necessary AccessPort for monitoring and tuning--a critical issue for a turbocharged engine. I wanted to love this car, but receiving it fresh from the dealership with serious engine and safety issues is extremely disappointing. I will update this review once resolution is reached.

Accompanied my friend here as support and guide as she was purchasing a car. I'm pretty weary of used car dealers but overall APX is alright. This is about 3 months later and the car is still running with no major issues. The car purchased was a 05' Mini Cooper S with decent low mileage for its age. It's clear it was fairly maintained by the prior owner(s) after reviewing it's paperwork and Carfax, but it was also apparent this one was sitting for a while. The staff were friendly and pretty helpful with questions. The things we asked be addressed while negotiating the purchase was - a crack in the windshield, The hood latch being broken on one side and of course the dreaded check engine light. The first two things were addressed but the last was not, even though they said they would as part of the deal. It was claimed to be an issue with the oxygen sensor. After being asked a few times because it couldn't be done the day of the actual purchase, a week or so later we were told we should have got the warranty. So that was a letdown. The staff are a lot of young guys, and they came off as fairly knowledgeable and pleasant, but I was put off by them pal-ing around a bit too much and leaning on my friend's car while she was finishing the deal. So overall the experience was alright here at APX. There is a fairly decent selection of vehicles in their inventory/lot.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing ! Biggest mistake. Bought a 2009 Nissan Titan, I'm located in California so they shipped it to me. It arrived with a cracked windshield, contacted my sales rep no response. Oh and it was dropped off with 0 miles on EMPTY, they didn't even bother gassing up the damn car halfway for me. The radio doesn't work, none of the key fobs worked I had to go to the local auto zone to purchase batteries and only one key fob works. Honestly I texted my sales rep no response. I think it's ilegal to sale a vehicle that's not in driving conditions, and that what they did with this cracked windshield. Looking into taking legal action. Big mistake! AVOID THIS DEALER!!

Ripp customers off on trade in Sells junk cars with issues and don't tell you about the problem with the cars they sell POT LOT go to a real dealership with a good reputation and good customer reviews

We were offered only 600$ for a very well kept diesel jeep with 60k less miles on it and lots of new parts including drive train and safety on trade in. We purchased a 2008 Tacoma and were told at time of purchase that it only needed an alignment. On second day driving this truck we started to hear an occasional pop on left rear of vehicle. My husband whom has been a ASE certified mechanic for over 20 years began inspecting to see what the problem was. The U bolts that hold the axle shaft on were loose, and the axle was 2 inches back from center. The centering pin was broken and the wear pattern and rust on it show it had been this way for a long time. The Ubolts on the right were loose as well. I called APX the first thing they asked was if had hit something. We had onky driven the truck 2 days as the day after we bought it someone broke into it and we had to wait for glass to come in to replace the glass so it had been sitting. They informed us that they were too busy and to drive it carefully in to them the next Monday and that they didn't know if they could get to it then either. We went ahead and just fixed it ourselves. But this is a safety issue that should have been addressed on their inspection of this truck When we didn't bring it in on Monday APX didn't even call to see if everything was OK. In past purchases at other dealers they woukd have picked this vehicle up nd towed it in to make this right. APX hasn't bothered to try and make this right at all. We've called twice and everyone just keeps saying they don't know anything about it.

When I contacted the dealership for assistance, I explained that I have children and that this was a major safety concern. I also explained that I could not safely get the vehicle there myself and could not afford a tow truck. Initially, I was told they would need to ask the owner about helping with a tow, but nobody ever followed up with me. When I called back, I was then told there was "no way" for them to get a tow arranged. Because of this, I was forced to manually bypass the warning/code issues myself just to get the vehicle drivable enough to make it from Mount Vernon to Lynnwood. During that drive, I had no functioning brake lights or turn signals, which made the situation even more dangerous. Despite explaining all of this, I felt my concerns were brushed off. When I finally arrived, I was told they "didn't HAVE to help" me, but that they would once the vehicle was there. At one point, after expressing frustration and mentioning possible legal action, I was also told that if I pursued that route they would not help me or fix the issue. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have also discovered that both the engine air filter and cabin air filter were extremely dirty and appeared to have been neglected for quite some time. These are basic maintenance items that should have been inspected or replaced prior to sale. I also later learned the vehicle originated from Canada, which explained why there was limited history available through Carfax. While I did notice scratches and dents at the time of purchase, I was disappointed to later realize there may have been additional history I was unable to fully verify beforehand because Canadian vehicle history does not always appear the same way on U.S. reports. To be fair, the dealership ultimately did fix the issue and paid for the repair. However, the way the situation was handled from the beginning -- especially considering the safety concerns involved -- left me with very little trust in this business moving forward. What makes this even more disappointing is that I traded in my nearly brand new Toyota with only around 25,000 miles on it because I trusted this dealership and expected the vehicle I purchased to be properly inspected and reliable. I would have never traded in my dependable, nearly new vehicle for something this unreliable had I known the condition this vehicle was actually in. I understand that once a used vehicle leaves the lot, responsibility largely falls on the buyer. However, customers still expect vehicles to receive thorough inspections and to be reasonably safe and reliable at the time of sale. Unfortunately, this experience was stressful, disappointing, and has left me questioning how carefully these vehicles are actually inspected before being sold.

On May 15, 2026, I brought my vehicle to Lynnwood Honda for a diagnostic inspection. At the time, my vehicle had approximately 129,000 miles. Your service advisor, Ashley Low, informed me that coolant/radiator fluid had entered the engine combustion chamber and that the vehicle required a head gasket replacement. I was provided an initial repair estimate that included: * Head gasket replacement: $4,980.56 * Resurfacing: $300 * Thermostat replacement: $298.11 * Spark plug replacement: $194.44 Because the repair cost was beyond my ability to afford, I contacted Honda of America requesting goodwill assistance. After reviewing my case, Honda approved goodwill assistance, and I was informed by Olivia at Honda that I would only be responsible for approximately $3,700 toward the repair. After the goodwill approval, Lynnwood Honda completed only the head gasket replacement. However, I was not provided with a detailed explanation of the actual work performed, the parts replaced, labor charges, or a complete itemized repair invoice showing how the goodwill assistance was applied. When I requested a detailed breakdown of the work order, Ashley Low told me that the information was "confidential" and asked me to pay an additional $2,800. I find this response unacceptable. As the vehicle owner and customer, I have the right to receive a clear and itemized record of the repairs performed on my vehicle and the charges associated with those repairs. Additionally, after such a major engine repair, I am extremely concerned that basic related service, such as an oil change, was not performed or documented. The original estimate included additional recommended repairs, but I have not received a clear explanation as to what was completed, what was not completed, and why. I respectfully request the following: 1. A complete itemized invoice/work order showing: * Parts replaced * Labor performed * Labor hours and rates * Total cost of the head gasket repair * How Honda goodwill assistance was applied 2. A written explanation of why I was not provided this documentation when requested. 3. A written explanation of why additional payment of $2,800 is being requested after Honda's goodwill assistance approval. 4. Confirmation of all repairs and services actually performed, including whether oil was changed and whether any other required post-repair procedures were completed. I have been a Honda customer and trusted Lynnwood Honda to properly diagnose and repair my vehicle. I appreciate Honda's willingness to provide goodwill assistance, but the lack of transparency from the dealership has created significant concern and frustration.

I had been looking for this specific model for a while and had a bit of a challenge finding one with a clean Carfax and no accidents. So, I will give it to them that they did have what I was looking for. The vehicle is decent, but I was a little put off that they weren't flexible at all on their price. There was no negotiation on the price, despite it immediately needing tires and an oil change. When replacing the tires, I discovered the rear brakes needed to be immediately replaced, too. These aren't huge items, but it was disappointing that they don't do the reconditioning normally done to reflect a "high-book" price. The staff was friendly and respectful, but I can't say I was super thrilled to pay full retail price for a vehicle, only to dump a bunch of money into it the following week, for items that should normally be addressed in a dealer's safety inspection.

I don't even know where to begin, so I'll just list the highlights of my experience. First, the "customer service" - if you can even call it that - was nonexistent. The sales rep was more interested in checking his phone than actually listening to my questions. When I asked about the vehicle's history, he stared at me like I had just asked him to solve a Rubik's Cube. He kept saying, "It's a great car, trust me," which is not reassuring when you're about to drop a few thousand dollars. The cars they sell? Oh boy. I asked for a test drive, and they handed me the keys to what looked like a car that had been through a demolition derby. It was dirty, the tires were bald, and there was a mysterious stain on the seats that I'm still not sure what it was. I wouldn't be surprised if the car was previously used in a warzone. I think I might have found an expired slice of pizza under the seat. That should've been a warning. Now, let's talk about the APR - or as I now call it, "Astonishingly Preposterous Ripoff." They hit me with an eye-popping 29.9% APR. Yes, you read that correctly. A 29.9% APR. When I pointed this out, the finance guy just shrugged and said, "Well, that's the rate we offer." Apparently, offering you financial ruin is how they do business. So if you're lucky enough to walk in there with a pulse and a heartbeat, they'll happily offer you a rate that's higher than most credit cards. I asked why it was so high given my solid credit score, and the response was essentially a word salad of vague excuses and "market adjustments." Yeah, because apparently, the market's really adjusted in their favor. To be clear, I wasn't just being offered a high rate - it was an insane rate that made payday loans look like a good deal. On top of that, when I asked for a breakdown of costs, there were additional fees I wasn't told about upfront. Things like "processing fees" and "dealer adjustments" that felt like a scam artist's wish list. When I questioned them about it, I was given the cold shoulder and a bunch of mumbo jumbo that didn't make sense. I finally walked out, but honestly, I probably should have run out of there screaming. I'm convinced they wouldn't hesitate to charge you extra if you asked to use the bathroom. Long story short: AVOID S S Motors at all costs. They'll try to lure you in with cars that look good on the outside, but once you're in, they'll hit you with hidden fees, the worst financing terms I've ever seen, and a total lack of customer service. Do yourself a favor and find a place that doesn't treat you like a walking ATM. This dealership is a joke, and I regret even setting foot in there.

I was ready to pay cash that day, but it was a two hour drive each way, so I wanted to hammer out the deal before I got there. Tom the sales guy I first worked with seemed nice enough. I asked him for his best price, and he dropped it by $350. I could live with that so I asked for an out the door quote. Everything looked good, but there was an "anti-theft" add-on for $599. I told him I didn't need or want that, so please take that off the quote. Tom dug his heels in and said he couldn't take that off. He said it was his company's policy to include it. I said if it's not a legal requirement, I don't want it. I know it's just an overpriced gimmick for their bottom line. I see other reviewers have questioned this particular dealer add-on too. Then he said he would remove it, but the cost of the car itself would go up by $599. I have no idea why he thought that would appease me. Things were starting to feel slimy. Then, John, a sales manager texted me. I told him I like everything in the quote, but I don't need or want the anti theft package. John then made the poor decision to start telling me about crime stats on Hwy. 99 and a stolen car that was recovered "just the other day". I live two hours away in a small town. Scare tactics don't work on me. I'm a tough old broad and didn't get to be my age by being gullible. They lost me. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman or not, but at that minute John became the poster boy for unethical used car dealers. One reason I prefer texts over phone calls is that I have proof of all the interactions. I still like the car, and there are a lot of similar vehicles out there. I probably dodged a bullet by giving this one a pass. I'm sure there are people that will say they had a good experience with this dealer, but out of 20 reviews, 15 of them are one star. Your mileage may vary.
