What the car looked like when we got there; obviously filthy!

A month ago I bought a 2015 Subaru WRX Limited from Sea Auto. I've written an outline of the pros/cons of my experience and below that a detailed explanation of my experience. Hopefully you find this helpful and good luck to you on your search for a car! Pros - They didn't pressure me into anything I didn't ask for - They we're willing to answer all of my questions to the best of their ability - Allowed us to take the car to a mechanic within 5 miles of their location - Allowed us to test drive the car on our own - Average price for the car I was looking at - Offered exactly what I expected for trade in on my old car Cons - They buy most, if not all, of their cars from auctions, so be very wary of the car's history - The car I was looking at was dirty (see picture) when I arrived despite telling them I was coming to look at it the day before - Oil needed to be changed - No wiggle room on their listings because their inventory is typically less than 70 cars and most of them are sport/luxury - They don't seem to care whether or not they complete a sale (later learned that that is because they are on salary pay and not commission, so there's no real initiative) - Said they would give the car a full detail before we left with it, but it looked like they just ran it through a cheap car wash, and the car was only gone for 20-30 mins tops (supposed detail and gas fill), which doesn't seem like enough time for a full detailing Why I gave it 3 stars: Overall, I had a neutral experience. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't outstanding. After a month of owning my WRX, nothing is wrong with it, but I'm still holding my breath as most people say their problems started a few months after ownership. I wouldn't buy another car from them simply because I would still feel insecure about how truthful they were being with me. Anyone that wants to buy a car from them, my advice it to be very skeptical, take someone that knows what to look for, RESEARCH your car thoroughly before you go to look at it, and take it to a mechanic just to be sure! Sea Auto had everything I wanted in a Subaru WRX, the price was as expected/fair for the year, mileage, and condition, and I knew I wasn't going to find WRX like this without upgrading to the STi and increasing my budget. The moment I saw this car on their website, I knew I had to have it. But when I looked up their reviews, my heart sank because the majority of reviewers had a very negative experience. I read in one review that they wouldn't allow a customer to take a car they were looking at to their mechanic to be inspected, so I decided to call them and ask if they would allow me to do this and their answer would decide whether or not I would take the trip up to Washington to look at the WRX because no reliable dealership should deny a customer this. I was told I could take the car to a mechanic within a 5 mike radius of their lot, so that put my mind at ease a bit. However, I was still skeptical. I told myself that if I had any bad feelings about them while we were there, I was leaving. The night before we drove up to see the car, we called and let them know we were coming in and we told them which car I was interested in. Despite that and having at least 12 hours from the time of our phone call to the time we arrived, the car was filthy when we got there! And it's a black car, so when it's dirty it is painfully obvious that it is DIRTY. You would think they would want to make a potential sale as presentable as possible, but apparently not. Dirty or not, I fell even more in love with that car as soon as I saw it in person though haha! We inspected the car and, other than the oil being somewhat dirty and a few minor scratches on the body, everything seemed fine. I spent a year researching this car, so I looked for any modifications to the body and engine that could negatively impact the car. I couldn't find anything, but I asked if the car had been modded just to be sure. I was told the previous owner modified the exhaust a bit, but it still looked and sounded like the stock exhaust so I wasn't entirely sure on it. Everything ran smooth, sounded right, shifted well, and worked after the test drive. They worked with us on the loan, didn't lower the price, but gave us a full tank of gas and a full detail (but I think they just quickly just washed it rather than detailed it). Just before I paid, I thankfully asked for the Carfax and they happily obliged, and everything came up clean. So far, I am still in love with this car and I don't regret my decision one bit!

Once a customer, always a customer. This purchase of my 06' Porsche Cayenne will be 5th purchase with Sea-Auto Sales. I am extremely satisfied with their exceptional customer service, competitive pricing, and professional Sales staff. Buying used vehicles from either dealers or private party is always risky, but with Sea-Auto I always had a piece of mind. Thank you Vitaliy, Oleg, and the rest of the team! Keep up the great work, looking forward to my next purchase. Lovin' the Porsche!

I can't in good conscience make this a 4 or 5 star review. My emails received no response and nothing was straight forward. I don't think it's malice but that they're very disorganized. I'd recommend an admin assistant because I'm sure it is hard to sell and show cars, on top of answering phones, scheduling repairs, etc.

In total it was a little over 24k. And if you're wondering why I inserted I paid cash out here's why.. I didn't want car payments and I had enough saved up for a bumper to bumper warranty. All the finance boxes checked. When I test drove the car it was great for the most part. The next day I wanted to add in the hands free cigarette lighter charger.. the cigarette lighter doesn't work. The cord to open the hood latch also broken. I was informed that the car had been wiped clean. I've heard of this before but they didn't mean the previous owners information stored in the car like Bluetooth .. ALLL THE NECESSARY SYSTEM UPDATES FOR THE ACTUAL INTERFACE! Upon going to the Volvo dealership to have my oil changed (I do this with every car I purchase) they informed me that my back breaks were in the red with less than 3% on them. I called and asked how come they didn't change the rear breaks? And the response was we don't do repairs at this location? Okay but that doesn't answer how come you would sell a car to someone where potentially the back breaks could stop freggin working! Not to mention who ever did do the "repairs" on the car double threaded and didn't use any anti-seize on the spark plugs. I called and asked if they would be able to remove that spark plug because I didn't want to mess up my engine trying to do it. And as you guessed it was a no . Fast forward to October my car is starting to misfire.. take it into Volvo and I need to get my whole fuel injectors replaced. Here's where the bumper to bumper warranty would come in.. come to find out ! GUESS WHO DOESNT HAVE BUMPER TO BUMPER LIKE SHE ASKED FOR?! If you guessed me then you're a winner. Power freggin terrain . Not what I asked for after repeatedly asking for and being promised I purchased. 2,700$ at Volvo to do. Rear breaks and rotors 1,900$ . After the repairs it was still misfiring . Come to find out it's because of the computer reset . Got it updated and it's fine now, after time wasted, money wasted and stress level through the roof. And then had the nerve to send me a text message asking about my next car purchase from there.. NEVER and if I had my way all of my friends and family will also not be purchasing from here. When I spoke to them about the warranty they said I could cancel it . Okay good I'll cancel then go through Volvo where they're in-fact honest . 12/27/25 I emailed the cancellation of warranty papers back to the car lot so they can submit them. (Also submitted the forms to the actual warranty place bec let's face it , I had no faith in them to do as promised) the sales rep told me it would take 6-8 weeks to be reimbursed. Today I called the warranty company to check my status.. not only did they not submit the paper work but the warranty they gave me is also no refundable and cannot be canceled. Do not buy a car from this place.

When I contacted the dealership for assistance, I explained that I have children and that this was a major safety concern. I also explained that I could not safely get the vehicle there myself and could not afford a tow truck. Initially, I was told they would need to ask the owner about helping with a tow, but nobody ever followed up with me. When I called back, I was then told there was "no way" for them to get a tow arranged. Because of this, I was forced to manually bypass the warning/code issues myself just to get the vehicle drivable enough to make it from Mount Vernon to Lynnwood. During that drive, I had no functioning brake lights or turn signals, which made the situation even more dangerous. Despite explaining all of this, I felt my concerns were brushed off. When I finally arrived, I was told they "didn't HAVE to help" me, but that they would once the vehicle was there. At one point, after expressing frustration and mentioning possible legal action, I was also told that if I pursued that route they would not help me or fix the issue. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have also discovered that both the engine air filter and cabin air filter were extremely dirty and appeared to have been neglected for quite some time. These are basic maintenance items that should have been inspected or replaced prior to sale. I also later learned the vehicle originated from Canada, which explained why there was limited history available through Carfax. While I did notice scratches and dents at the time of purchase, I was disappointed to later realize there may have been additional history I was unable to fully verify beforehand because Canadian vehicle history does not always appear the same way on U.S. reports. To be fair, the dealership ultimately did fix the issue and paid for the repair. However, the way the situation was handled from the beginning -- especially considering the safety concerns involved -- left me with very little trust in this business moving forward. What makes this even more disappointing is that I traded in my nearly brand new Toyota with only around 25,000 miles on it because I trusted this dealership and expected the vehicle I purchased to be properly inspected and reliable. I would have never traded in my dependable, nearly new vehicle for something this unreliable had I known the condition this vehicle was actually in. I understand that once a used vehicle leaves the lot, responsibility largely falls on the buyer. However, customers still expect vehicles to receive thorough inspections and to be reasonably safe and reliable at the time of sale. Unfortunately, this experience was stressful, disappointing, and has left me questioning how carefully these vehicles are actually inspected before being sold.

I don't even know where to begin, so I'll just list the highlights of my experience. First, the "customer service" - if you can even call it that - was nonexistent. The sales rep was more interested in checking his phone than actually listening to my questions. When I asked about the vehicle's history, he stared at me like I had just asked him to solve a Rubik's Cube. He kept saying, "It's a great car, trust me," which is not reassuring when you're about to drop a few thousand dollars. The cars they sell? Oh boy. I asked for a test drive, and they handed me the keys to what looked like a car that had been through a demolition derby. It was dirty, the tires were bald, and there was a mysterious stain on the seats that I'm still not sure what it was. I wouldn't be surprised if the car was previously used in a warzone. I think I might have found an expired slice of pizza under the seat. That should've been a warning. Now, let's talk about the APR - or as I now call it, "Astonishingly Preposterous Ripoff." They hit me with an eye-popping 29.9% APR. Yes, you read that correctly. A 29.9% APR. When I pointed this out, the finance guy just shrugged and said, "Well, that's the rate we offer." Apparently, offering you financial ruin is how they do business. So if you're lucky enough to walk in there with a pulse and a heartbeat, they'll happily offer you a rate that's higher than most credit cards. I asked why it was so high given my solid credit score, and the response was essentially a word salad of vague excuses and "market adjustments." Yeah, because apparently, the market's really adjusted in their favor. To be clear, I wasn't just being offered a high rate - it was an insane rate that made payday loans look like a good deal. On top of that, when I asked for a breakdown of costs, there were additional fees I wasn't told about upfront. Things like "processing fees" and "dealer adjustments" that felt like a scam artist's wish list. When I questioned them about it, I was given the cold shoulder and a bunch of mumbo jumbo that didn't make sense. I finally walked out, but honestly, I probably should have run out of there screaming. I'm convinced they wouldn't hesitate to charge you extra if you asked to use the bathroom. Long story short: AVOID S S Motors at all costs. They'll try to lure you in with cars that look good on the outside, but once you're in, they'll hit you with hidden fees, the worst financing terms I've ever seen, and a total lack of customer service. Do yourself a favor and find a place that doesn't treat you like a walking ATM. This dealership is a joke, and I regret even setting foot in there.

It was my first time ever financing a vehicle, and I needed a bit more guidance on what to do, and Ryan just missed the mark completely as the dealership had to contact me several times about things that were not clearly discussed when I first purchased the vehicle. On top of that, Ryan signed for the loan check that I expedited over for the remaining amount for the car, and then called me to tell me that it was missing! If that's not incompetent, I don't know what is. John needs some lessons in customer service and how to talk to paying customers, even if he just returned to work from recovering from surgery. Chances are, you'll likely work with either of these gentlemen so beware. Serj is the only good thing about this company and is probably the one holding it all together. I usually love to support local businesses, but I won't likely do business with them again and I would not refer anyone to them based on what I experienced.

I was ready to pay cash that day, but it was a two hour drive each way, so I wanted to hammer out the deal before I got there. Tom the sales guy I first worked with seemed nice enough. I asked him for his best price, and he dropped it by $350. I could live with that so I asked for an out the door quote. Everything looked good, but there was an "anti-theft" add-on for $599. I told him I didn't need or want that, so please take that off the quote. Tom dug his heels in and said he couldn't take that off. He said it was his company's policy to include it. I said if it's not a legal requirement, I don't want it. I know it's just an overpriced gimmick for their bottom line. I see other reviewers have questioned this particular dealer add-on too. Then he said he would remove it, but the cost of the car itself would go up by $599. I have no idea why he thought that would appease me. Things were starting to feel slimy. Then, John, a sales manager texted me. I told him I like everything in the quote, but I don't need or want the anti theft package. John then made the poor decision to start telling me about crime stats on Hwy. 99 and a stolen car that was recovered "just the other day". I live two hours away in a small town. Scare tactics don't work on me. I'm a tough old broad and didn't get to be my age by being gullible. They lost me. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman or not, but at that minute John became the poster boy for unethical used car dealers. One reason I prefer texts over phone calls is that I have proof of all the interactions. I still like the car, and there are a lot of similar vehicles out there. I probably dodged a bullet by giving this one a pass. I'm sure there are people that will say they had a good experience with this dealer, but out of 20 reviews, 15 of them are one star. Your mileage may vary.
