I loved everything about my first snorkeling experience with this company. Our guide Anthony was knowledgeable, personable, and quickly made me feel comfortable. We enjoyed viewing the shipwreck and saw lots of small fish and a sea urchin. Would highly recommend! Our starting point was on Isla de Cabras, which was an interesting little park, although a bit of a struggle getting an Uber there. Some delays there, but nothing bad. Great view of El Morro too.
We booked a Guided Snorkel Tour through the Viator travel app with Try Scuba Diving Puerto Rico and had such an awesome time! Upon arrival at Batería del Escambrón (the meeting point) we waited around for our group to arrive. We knew no one else on the tour but I believe there 20 some of us? Once everyone was there we spent about 15 minutes talking about safety and best practices and we split into smaller groups of 5 or 6 with a tour guide for each smaller group and started passing out equipment. We didn't need to bring anything other than ourselves and a towel. Personal items were placed in bins supervised during our swim. Once in the water we took some time to get comfortable and off we went in our groups. I found the water a bit choppy and my mask was leaking a bit due to the seal, facial hair, or some combination. I made do and had fun exploring. We saw all kinds of different fish and other aquatic life. My favorite was the turtles. We were provided the videos and pictures our guide took of us on the tour which was really nice and we didn't have to worry about losing or damaging phones or cameras. Gratuities are not included and they do strongly remind you of that and mention that is how they support their familes. A little push and reminder for the groups but I was planning to tip anyway. Especially since all gear and equipment were included and the overall price for two of us was $118.00. We had so much fun even with the water being a bit rough. Our guide, Matt, was really great! This experience is marketed as "WITH TURTLES." Let me just tell you, there are never any turtles! I asked our guide before we even started if we would see any turtles, he said probably not and it's very uncommon to see one. We get to the water and he constantly was acting like my wife was uncomfortable with scuba diving and was talking to her like a child. She was fine, but he wanted to act like she wasn't so he could leave early! We were never more deeper than 5 feet in the ocean. This is not what I call scuba diving. We saw barely any fish. He was rude and cut our trip short even when my wife was asking to go deeper so we could see some fish and maybe a turtle. LOL there are no turtles! Save your money and buy a real scuba session. Total scam in my opinion. Also the guide spent more time putting on his wetsuit than actually in the water with us. We had to wait in the hot sun for 10 minutes while he was putting on his wetsuit. 10 minutes that counted against our tour time! Why did he get a wetsuit when we were just in our normal swimsuits?! Unprofessional, poor quality, false advertising, rude, and condescending in his presentation!
Hey everyone So I came to San Juan for my birthday weekend and I had so much fun snorkeling today with our host Sebastian. Booking was very easy to do. You had to park and walk over which was ok for us. They provide you with the gear to snorkel. My host was very informative and personable. We were able to see the turtles and various fish. I'm addition, we were able to find a starfish hiding around. Sebastian took video and photos for us. We received them right after we were finished. It lasted about an hour. We had so much fun I would do it again. Off to our next destination for the day. Thank you for a great excursion.
Highly recommend! My sister and I decided to do this snorkeling excursion on our last day literally before our flight and it was such a good decision!We had an amazing time on the snorkeling excursion because Abdiel, Eric and Elizabeth were the perfect hosts! We got to swim with beautiful fish, a sea turtle, navigated to a sunken bridge and more. At the end we received some great videos and pictures of our snorkeling experience (included in the price). From the 1st confirmation call to our goodbyes everything was perfection!! We can not wait to go back because we will be doing this again and recommending to friends and family when they visit! Our tour was great, we had Ile (I think that's how you spell it). We only spoke English but that was fine for them. We had plenty of time out in the water Make sure you eat something beforehand- i did get a little seasick at the end and my partner got really tired from kicking and swimming. Make sure to get some ice cream from the cart when you're done! It's local and delicious
Booked a Mermaid experience for my wife while we were in Puerto Rico. Booked through my Marriott app and wish I had not book through them and straight with the five shop as the Marriott made me book two (I was not going to be wearing a fin singing "under the sea"). As for the experience 5 star service! As we walk towards the building, we were immediately greeted, as you are everywhere you go in PR. Elizabeth introduced herself to us and took everything from there. Though the weather was a bit gloomy, Elizabeth did he best to capture the best photos. Even retaking photos when the sun would come up periodically. She even incorporated me in! Still no fun though lol Overall amazing experience! Book with this company stress free!
Felt very safe going on the Ocean with Matt. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. I loved that he explained everything for us. We had the luck of seeing 3 sea turtles and he took very lovely pictures for us that he gave us at the end of the tour. I would recommend this tour it did not disappoint.
I am not a strong swimmer, however, I had a good time. We started with four and ended with two. The guide was straight forward, got us settled and comfortable being in the water with the snorkeling gear (which is sanitized at the end of your session. There were many fish to see, along with turtles, ma made reef, and a manatee (we missed that one).. You are paired with a water buddy and the guide checks in the group often. The only ones left behind are the ones sitting on the shore watching and asking "how was it?"
My husband and I had a great time on our snorkeling tour with our guide, Ile! We saw a bunch of sea turtles, fish, and even some sea urchin. Ile took a bunch of pictures and made sure to send them to us before we left. Highly recommend!
My aunt daughter and myself went to snorkel with the sea turtles. We had an outstanding time. At first I was very nervous but the instructions by Luis were very good and made the experience even more enjoyable. Wish we had more time to do this again, I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Alec was our guide as we explored the protected cove. He was engaging, helpful, and worked hard to make sure we saw everything of interest. We saw sea turtles, an underwater house (from Hurricane Maria), a collapsed bridge (from the same), a sea urchin, a sea worm, schools of fish, a feather duster, a lion fish, crabs, a lobster, and lots of other sea life and man made stuff at the bottom. He took photos and videos, then air dropped them to me at the end. This is an exceptional experience you should prioritize if you're in San Juan.
We booked this excursion through Viator which we had not even planned on doing an excursion. Since we had a free day, we decided it would be fun to go snorkeling. The nice thing about Try Scuba Diving is they work well with all abilities of swimming experience. After checking in with the manager Ricky and getting his thorough orientation, we were placed in Juana's group based on our ability. She was a great guide, explained everything well with knowing how to put on life vests and goggles and swim fins. She stayed with us throughout the swim and even pointed us to a cool encounter with a sea turtle. Overall a great time and a super fun experience . read more

We had an amazing experience with Try Scuba Diving San Juan, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to Puerto Rico! Our guide, Raul, was absolutely fantastic. He was friendly, patient, attentive, and made sure everyone in our group felt comfortable and had a great time. You can tell he genuinely cares about what he does, as well as the ocean and the wildlife that call it home. We were lucky enough to see seven sea turtles up close, and watching them swim, eat, and just go about their day was incredible. Raul also found a few other fascinating sea creatures that we were able to safely hold and observe. (Not the turtles, of course, since they're protected.) It made the experience even more memorable. The complimentary videos were excellent and are something we'll treasure for years to come. Raul did a great job capturing the experience while still making safety and everyone's enjoyment his top priority. There was a small last minute change to the meeting location that caused us a little stress, but these things happen. Even though we arrived later than expected because of the confusion, the team still took great care of us and made sure we didn't miss out on an incredible experience. I couldn't have asked for a better guide or a better snorkeling tour. If you're visiting Puerto Rico and thinking about snorkeling with sea turtles, I 100% recommend this company and, if you're lucky enough to get Raul as your guide, you're in for an unforgettable experience! read more

My husband and I are still raving about how much we enjoyed our scuba diving experience! As a non-swimmer (took lessons as a kid, can do basic things, not confident though), I was surprised to find this experience and to have an option for non swimmers. I was worried at first since not only am I not confident at swimming, but I also have never done snorkeling before for that reason. I was elated they have instructors like Elizabeth there to make the experience comfortable, easy for newbies, and to not miss out on anything. My husband (who was a lifeguard and skilled down to be with me) and I got to see three sea turtles, lots of fish, and even a puffer fish. The amount you see depends on the weather and water conditions, so we got lucky on the date and time we picked! It took some time to get used to the equipment but Elizabeth made sure I was good to go and I was impressed with myself for lasting the whole hour out there snorkeling. This group is also knowledgeable and conscious of the conservation efforts to protect animals and nature which my husband and I greatly appreciated. The marine park is also just a beautiful location to be in afterwards to relax and enjoy the waves. We absolutely recommend this experience and will do it again next time we're in Puerto Rico! read more

Joshua (our instructor) was awesome. Very attentive and informative. Whether you are a beginner or have experience with snorkeling, it's a must. We saw lots of fish and sea turtles. The area you go in is a small bay but lots to see. Joshua took several pictures and videos for free. I would recommend getting your own action camera to get more videos/pictures. This was by far an amazing experience. They take their time in making sure you're wearing flotation and scuba gear and go over in detail what you will be doing and seeing during the tour. Matthew was our guide and he was phenomenal. He was extremely patient with us. I am legally blind so I was there for the experience. My daughter began to drift off and in my attempt to assist her I drifted off even further away. Matthew was awesome because he had to rescue the two of us. Please tip the staff. They work very hard and deserve it. read more

I suffer from chronic pain and while on this life changing trip Eric was patient with me and my anxieties and led me into a one hour tour of the cove where I had NO pain, it was wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you! read more

When you're on vacation there are so many options that end up feeling crowded, chaotic, and force you into a random group of 20 or more other people all talking at once. The reason this excursion is so amazing is that it offers a blissful experience that feels very in touch with what's real. You put the snorkel on and you are floating in the water in dreamlike silence, observing gorgeous yellow and blue fish, sea horses, sea turtles, rays, and funny little scenes even that someone staged under the water. It's extremely relaxing and you can't say that about a lot of excursions. I've done this excursion four times and each guide is wonderful, safe, and intuitive. Yes you're in the water but you have flippers and a life jacket on so the swimming is easy. This is just wonderful. For no additional charge they give you videos and still photos from your specific trip. read more

Great time for the family. We loved just snorkeling around in a control area. Was able to drive down to see several props set in the water. Would recommend any age to sign up and go read more

We had Joshua as our instructor. He was patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. He took our pictures via his go pro and sent them to us. If we ever come back to PR to do snorkeling, we will ask for him again! read more

Had a great time,Andreas was great he took his time to explain safety rules and underwater communication signs. We had blast, i would definitely recommend it if you are interested in scuba diving give these guys a chance. read more

I give this experience 4 stars! My guide, Genesis was very knowledgeable about the sea creatures and random facts. The set up was easy to follow via the instructions from AirBnb booking. It lasted about an hour or more, I saw a few sea turtles, pretty Finding Dory looking fish, and sea urchin. The employees are friendly and captures photos via their own GoPro upon request..... that makes them stand out. Please bring cash to tip them, though not necessary. read more
