Excellent experience here! My 3 year old did a free trial here and we placed her in officially. The pool is heated and enclosed inside the building with glass surrounding the pool from floor to ceiling so you can watch your child while they're in class. She is thriving in her group classes (maximum class size of 4) and has been becoming more confident in the water every week (we do two classes per week). She LOVES her teachers too -- everyone that we have encountered here has been super kind and helpful. Also another cool thing: you get email updates on your child's classes and can review the skills they are learning and what they need to work on. After each class, the swim instructors will meet with you directly to discuss your child's progress. Highly recommend! read more

My daughter is 4 and she has had previous lessons but couldn't get over putting her face in the water (and the other place encourage it). When we first started to attend she would start crying the night before and throughout getting ready, through the car ride and through the entire lesson. After talking to the coaches we decided to increase to 3 times a week with different coaches each day. For a month or 2. This helped so much. So I wanted to leave a review for a while but it wasn't until this morning that I knew exactly what I wanted to write. My daughter fell in the pool (she is a little over a year) she immediately held her breath and turned to her back. If it was not for the skills she learned Aqua Tots Swim Lessons it could have been a different scenario. Her dad was sitting there watching her so he was able to immediately grab her out. This just shows even with adult supervision anything can happen in a split second. Swim lessons are a must if you have a pool Or live by a large water area like a pond. This place is outstanding. We've been coming here for about two years now, I'd guess, and our little guy is 3 now. I'll tell you how it is: So this place has a swimming pool inside it, with a viewing area on 2 sides, and then about a dozen changing rooms and a couple bathrooms in the back. How they got permission to put a swimming pool inside, I have no idea. I imagine that really limits the resale of that property if they ever decide to leave. Anyway... The staff is all really cool. There are a lot of different personalities, but everyone is friendly and cool, and when we come in they aways greet us really nicely and the place is really comfortable. So you take your kids in to the back and get them changed or whatever, then go up front and wait until the coaches call them in to swim. For the really little kids, the parents go in with the kids, but since he's been about 2 he's been going in without us, which was scary at first but the coaches do a great job and there's never any danger. The viewing area always has seats, so you can shimmy down to wherever your kids are being taught and grab a seat and watch and relax. They go through their lesson, then get out, and you're changed and ready to go! They've got showerheads, changing rooms, bathrooms, benches, a swim-suit spinny-dryer thing. It's pretty legit. Each kid gets a laminated card that they keep track of their progress on, and it makes it easy to see where we need to practice things at home to help out, and monitor his progress. My ONLY complaint about this place is that the coaches do change fairly often, and every time he gets a new coach, they kind of step things back again to evaluate where he is, which means I think his progress is slower than it could be, but it's still good - he's quite the swimmer, and keeping him active in the water during the colder months is really important. If you're looking for a place to get your kids some water safety and swimming knowledge, then I say come here and do it already - what the hell are you waiting for? read more

This is a great swim school and Amanda is amazing. We were only in town for a month and she got our kids in as many classes as we wanted and she even worked with us to accept our makeup classes from an Aqua tots in San Diego. We had good, friendly instructors and it was just what we needed to refresh their swimming after a year off due to Covid. Above and beyond customer service. My daughter is 3 and has never been in a pool after the age of 6 months. We knew it was time for her to learn to swim so I checked around Groupon and was familiar with this area so we decided to sign up for six lessons at Aqua-Tots Ahwatukee. So far Lizzie and Megan are wonderful with our daughter. She didn't even cry when they approached her and brought her straight into the pool area. In 2 lessons she is already going underwater and learning to kick. It's scary for a first-time parent to watch but I feel 100% comfortable with the staff here and their expertise. I know my child is in good hands and her learning a life-saving skill is more important than my anxiety. There are snacks and soda for sale, free lollipops after class if you want, small play area for your other children and blow dryer bathing suit dryers in the locker area. Today was our first trial group class for my 4 years old daughter who is autistic and it was nothing but a huge disappointment. Before scheduling a class, I was very candid about my daughter's diagnosis and I requested if she could have a private class, because of her needs. Furthermore, I started of the conversation with asking if they even work with special needs kids. I was told they have a couple kids with autism that they work with. I was encouraged we try out a group lesson and if it doesn't work out we can go for a private lesson. I was also told that the group we are being assigned would have less kids and would be a good way for the instructor to assess my daughter's needs. I go in and I find out the class is full with 3 other kids. I immediately got nervous as I knew my daughter would not get the attention she needs. And that's exactly what happened. My daughter loves water and started splashing. She didn't understand that in a swimming class splashing is not acceptable unless instructed to do so. Furthermore, the instructor didn't spend much time with her and my daughter started entertaining herself with toys etc. on which the deck supervisor pulls her out. And she begins to cry and scream. I gave instructors a chance to handle her which they couldn't. I ask if I can go in to calm her down and I was given the chance to do so. My daughter calms down and finally her turn comes. The instructor was so impatient and started yelling at my daughter when she couldn't understand her instruction. I immediately pull my daughter out and leave the facility. I will not be bringing my daughter back. I'm extremely sad to say that Megan, my daughter's instructor, should not be working with kids. She was extremely rude to kids and no kid in that class looked happy. This should be a fun experience for kids not a miserable one. And I gave a one star because yelp wouldn't let me give less than that. read more

Amazing place for kids to learn how to swim I really like the big comfortable Red chairs so you can observe your children's lesson and watch them . The pool is surrounded by glass and it's always clean and it's not overpowering with chlorine . They have lockers and private dressing rooms that are well kept and I always see the staff wiping down things . My granddaughter swims very well but stared out scared but the instructors really know how to have fun with them . There are different levels so as they achieve them they go on to the next one , my granddaughter is on her 6th level and she can't wait to be finished, I was really surprised when she jumped into the deep end and could not touch the bottom so she turned over and started floating until she caught her breath and away she swam! Her knowing what to do really made me feel secure about having some fun with her and swimming verses holding on to the side of the pool or hanging on to me .This will be a fun summer for my little Mermaid read more

We love being an Aqua Tots family! My daughter has been swimming there a year and a half, and she has progressed so much during that time. My son started just before Christmas and he was the "crier" in the class. If I'm being really honest, he was the screamer. We continued the classes at the encouragement of his coach (Janelle) and the owner of Aquatots (Keri). They assured me that he would overcome his fear, and after a couple of classes he did! He now loves swim so much that I enrolled him in an additional class every week. It is hard to believe that he is the same kiddo who cried through every class because he now loves it so much! I'm grateful to the great coaches and Keri for taking such great care of my kiddos. We live like a block away and were really interested in getting the kids signed up but when we checked it out the prices were really high compared to what swim lessons at our gym were. Staff was very friendly and have is a full tour. Facilities appeared cleaned and well managed. We may take advantage of their birthday party option some day since the kids birthdays are in winter but we likely won't sign up for classes. read more

My little boy started here a few weeks back, it was his first time to go to a class without me in the water with him! He cried and cried his first day, I felt so bad and like a totally bad mom. By his third class he skips into in his class excited to do his lesson with his teacher. The staff are so welcoming and reassure you that they will get there, which they do! Can't recommend this place enough, they challenge & encourage them! He's so excited to go to every class. Update: The owner called me today after reading my review and informed me that they would use this as a learning experience and provide more training for their staff so that this doesn't happen again. I've never left a review before but feel the need to share my experience at Aquatots in Ahwatukee over the weekend. My two and a half year old son was taking a swim lesson for the first time and towards the end of class the instructor turned his back on my son to work with the one other student in his lesson. As the instructor turned away my son slipped off the ledge in the pool and went under water. I thought the instructor would turn around as soon as it happened but he didn't. After a couple of seconds I started banging on the glass (that's right they separate the pool from the parents with a glass wall) and the instructor still didn't turn around. I kept banging on the glass until he finally heard me at which point he turned around and finally pulled my son out of the water. My son was in the water for around 20 seconds or so. I went to the pool to get my son who was hysterically crying and the instructor didn't even acknowledge what happened. After I calmed my son down the parent of the other child in my son's lesson waited for us to make sure my son was ok. He told me he saw the whole thing happen and that he was about to jump in the pool to get my son if the instructor hadn't. Not one staff member asked how my son was or offered to check him out to make sure he didn't swallow any water. Nor did we get a follow up call after we left (in tears by the way). I had to call them two days later to complain. Needless to say it was a horrific experience and I urge any parent thinking of bringing their child to Aquatots in Ahwatukee to reconsider. read more

Overall I was disappointed with our time with Aqua-Tots. Each class is identical in format and there's not a lot of difference in the progression levels. It's easy for a child to get bored with the activities, even if you only go once a week. I had my son enrolled in swim lessons with Aqua-Tots for 5 months. In that whole time there was only one class (that we weren't doing a make-up class on a different day) that the regular instructor Megan wasn't training a new instructor. So Megan couldn't focus on helping the students progress. She gave no instructions on how to change things to help kids advance and was solely focused on getting the new instructor through the class script. She also wasn't prepared for the class in having the right amount of equipment for all the kids -- if all the kids are at the stage of using the noodle boat, there should be one for all of them and not get huffy when her student instructors point out that all the kids need one. If we could have regularly just had class that wasn't a training for a new employee, it might have been better. We had a good experience with Shelia and the other instructors we had on make-up days were great about helping my son progress. And at each of the make-up classes we did, the other instructors were always surprised that my son was actually more advanced than his progress card would indicate. We had been doing swim lessons since infancy in our previous city so my son already had many of the skills being taught. read more

My girls have been swimming here since they were a year old. They are now 2.5 and great swimmers. What I love most about AquaTots is they teach them water safety. They learn boundaries like not entering the pool until an adult says go. They have learned how to swim back to the wall after jumping in, how to turn from their stomach to back and float, as well as good breath control. The feedback from coaches after class is very helpful so we can practice at home too. It gives me peace of mind knowing that they know how to be safe in the pool. The AquaTots staff are incredible. They all know my girls by name and make us all feel so welcomed and cared for. My girls have developed so much confidence thanks to the amazing staff. The facility is very clean and well maintained. My son loves AquaTots. He is an older student and had taken lessons several places without much luck. They had him feeling safe in and around the pool in a couple weeks and swimming enough to make us feel safe within the month. He now swims really well and will complete the program soon. We are extremely impressed with this program. To think he didn't know how to swim at 11 years old and 12 years old finds him wanting to join a swim team. He can do all the strokes and flip turns and looks forward to swimming. They work with your schedule so you never loose a lesson. Highly recommended! read more

Our family absolutely loves Aqua-tots! Our 2 year old started when she was about 18mo and her swim skills have developed so fast and she LOVES the water! Safety in the pool is so important and we love that she enjoys swimming so much! Keri is amazing and her staff is wonderful to work with. My granddaughter had her two year birthday party at Aquatots in Ahwatukee, AZ and we were very impressed by the way the whole event was organized and carried out. The event was two hours long and included private use of the Aquatots facility starting with an hour of swim time for the attendees-parents must accompany any children who cant swim-after which there were tables set up for cake, pizza and opening of presents. Aquatots provided two staff to supervise the pool activity and an additional staff member who supervised overall activity and who helped by serving the cake, helping with opening the presents etc. We chose a theme for the party and Aquatots did the rest for a fixed fee.
