The facilities are ok. Not usually very crowded. But if you enjoy swimming, good luck getting info on days / times to use the pool. THE WEBSITE SUCKS. Seriously, it's awful. Did the city pay a company to build this? It's not at all intuitive. There's no search function. The swim schedule is very difficult to find, and when you get there it's incomplete. A complete redesign is needed. I know some sixth graders who could build a better one. read more

It's a great clean pool with fun classes. Attend the aqua Zumba class regularly and it's always so fun. The lifeguards help you and are very helpful in watching all pool guests and keeping us safe. read more

I think the people of Flagstaff are lucky to have the Aquaplex. I enjoy playing pickleball in the mornings. The players are very nice and there is a good mix of levels to play. I also utilize the exercise equipment and the pool and hot tub. With that said, the place could use some updating. I am not saying it is bad, just that other gymnasiums have better equipment. But for the price Flagstaff charges to use the Aquaplex, it is a wonderful place. There are exercise classes that are run by great teachers. Really feel welcome and all levels seem to enjoy. I do not use the childcare but I do see that it is a great option for parents to have their kids in a safe place and get quality care for their children. I don't know what it cost (I'm sure you can call the Aquaplex and find out the cost) but there are a lot of people that use this service that it usually full when I'm in the place. I think it's great to have the kids in an exercise environment running around and swimming rather than have them looking at a screen. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I find them a real pleasure to interact with. I have been able to ask questions and the staff and managers are quick to help. Parking is abundant and easy to get in and out of the Aquaplex. Horrible customer service I drove in from Las Vegas to stay in Flagstaff.. I wanted to do this activity for my daughter. we were simply turned away the second she got into the water. I've called this place numerous times to ask questions about their policies and toddler swimming and verifying that they're going to be open.. Not only did they ask how many people are swimming? I said one adult and one child prior to paying they even acknowledged KIDS UNDER A CERTAIN AGE SWIM FREE..Once I did pay We changed our clothes to go swimming. My daughter put her feet in the water and an associate quickly came to us and said hey no children are swimming today. This is an adult only day. So I went up to the front to request a refund. The girl sitting up in the front was twirling her hair and seemed so uninterested and not wanting to help resolve the issue she went to go get a customer service manager didn't give her all of the information the customer service manager came up, asking why I wanted a refund. She told me that the girl worker didnt giving her the context as to why I was asking for a refund. While all this is happening, the guy at the front desk is looking for my receipts through a pile of receipts that are in the trash.. Everyone's wanting to go back-and-forth with me of what the last four digits of my card were. I showed them my card. I showed them the amount.. I even asked for a cash refund instead bc I didn't care if it comes out of the register or somebody else's pocket just give me the refund. Since neither of them were able to find the receipt, she took down my contact information. She said once we find the receipt will send you a confirmation email. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be receiving anything nor a refund..so I'll definitely be calling my bank to dispute the charges. Try better next time maybe communicate with any guests that have a children "hey your child can't swim today". It would've solved this whole issue read more

Second time the pool has been closed due to no lifeguards, after reserving a lane a week in advance..highly recommend serious swimmers to go to Cottonwood community recreation, much nicer, cleaner & more organized facilities, Is a definite commute, but you are sure to be able to swim. I started almost 1 1/2 yrs ago, Jen I first started it was pretty dirty and neglected. in the past several months there has been new management hired and it is better than it was. They even hired new h20 class instructors and the classes are so great. The cleaning is getting better im giving that time. As the saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day. It really is awful and dirty. The place is filled with children abandoned by their parents at all times of day and the other users are families with small children. Monthly local rate is $45 a month otherwise it is $6.50 a day. A glorified kiddie pool and a medicore gym. Swim hours are all scheduled. read more

We come up to Flag about twice a month to get away from Phoenix. We have two kiddos and are always looking for fun things to do with the kids. An indoor water play area? Sure, we love those! We just got back from Durango, CO and went to one that was huge, had no restrictions on age for the hot tub, had a water see saw, lots of things to do, $1 towel rentals and the water was bath water warm. Having experienced that, we weren't very impressed with this place. We had high hopes with the exterior being has new and beautiful as it is. Inside, the lobby was also nice. Our happiness dropped a bit when we entered the family cabana changing rooms. Wooeee. Mildew alert. They were so smelly that we chose to part ways and go in the locker rooms instead. The pool was cooler than we hoped. They have tubes for the lazy river, but only about 5 that they teenagers never let go of. We were there maybe 5 minutes and they performed a mock rescue (which we respect, but bad timing on our part), requiring we exit the entire pool area and behind gates into the stinky cabana area. The hot tub is for 6+, so we had to avoid with our 4yo (thus keeping us cold the entire time). The slides are super scary and dark and have a high height limit. My kids asked after an hour, "so what else can we do?" We stayed for two hours but weren't prying the kids to leave. They were good on that. I can't say we would return and if we were residents, we wouldn't likely get a membership. Flag residents get a discount. We didn't. read more

What a s**t show. We have been back a few times since they reopened. It's been ok. But after today, I don't want to go back. We get there about 335 or so and there is a wait list. No problem, we wait. But then after about an hour we are still waiting. I see all sorts of people leave, but no one is being let in. I go to the window and count 26 people in the pool. So I go to the front desk and ask, "what is the capacity and who keeps track of it"? "Oh, we will tell you when you can go in" "ok, I get that. When and how do you know we can go in?" "We will tell you, they keep track." Front desk is completely inept. Simple questions like, "how long of a wait is it?" And you get a deer in the headlights look. This place has gone downhill and they are now using Covid as an excuse for extremely poor customer service. read more

This place sucks. My small children love it because of the lazy pool and splash pad so I'm a regular here (4 times a week). The staff is largely comprised of HS & college kids, and while most of the staff are exceptional, some are just horrible. I love the baby sitters though. The weight room and cardio area is below-average and the basketball courts are often filled with other sports (and they won't let you play basketball if they're playing another game). The dance room hosts a variety of sports including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, zoomba, and other fitness classes. Overall, if I didn't have small kids I'd never come here, but... Best parts: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; staff can be so delightful and are usually kind to my kids. Worst parts: pretty much everything else. Note: I've counted 36 notices prohibiting things ("no breath holding" at the swimming is particularly stupid) and I have seen only 4 at FAC. Not a coincidence that FAC is a more favored gym. read more

This is the worst gym I've ever been a member of. It's what you would expect from a government run facility. Imagine the quality and service of the DMV at a gym and pool complex. Portions of it are constantly closed for unexplained reasons. The staff has an average age of 16 and has the worst customer service you could imagine. We bought an annual pass with the express purpose of swimming with our kids. However kids are not allowed until it's open to the general public. This means there's no point to have a membership if you're wanting to swim because you can't do it until public hours anyway. The "Supervisor" only comes in after 6 PM for a few hours. That hot tub got a view of the peak of the mountain. With a phenomenal mindset this place gets the job done with Hot and cold water exposure. Most the workers are young. Jets are strong in the Hot-tub too. Any true disciplined athlete would appreciate this facility at the price they offer. This place has experienced quite a downturn as of late. I used to come here on a regular basis and enjoyed it. Now I avoid it like the plague. My reasons for enjoying it are: It has an ok selection of amenities for children and adults The staff is often friendly and helpful I enjoy working out in the weight room and running on the track. I enjoy swimming in the swimming lanes There are water slides Prices are reasonable My reasons for not enjoying it are: It is too crowded except early in the morning and at night Off time hours are now getting crowded There is a lack of cleanliness in the pool area even during off hours There is a lack of cleanliness in the locker room even during off hours Peak hours are insane and I can't work out at all because of the children Children in the weight room interrupting me and playing I do not want to be sued by parents who can't control their children and who have more money to get a better lawyer Personal injury risk of lifting weights around children Cant go in the pool area during peak hours since I will get splashed and kicked Some parents are inattentive to their children's activities The staff seems to do nothing to regulate the above Final Thoughts I am all for a community recreation area such as this, and I understand that the place won't be as clean during peak hours and that community means children. However, I have never had such a negative experience before in a community recreation center. I used the gym for a few months but ultimately left because they didn't offer any group classes or instruction. We came here in the winter (day before a large snowstorm) and went swimming!! The pools are heated in the winter and very warm. There are also two very large water slides (a couple of stories high), and a hot tub, and a lazy river. You can gain admission for the day pretty cheap, this leads to it being a large hang out for tweens and teens. Also you have to deal with large large amounts of chlorine. The water is really cold. Most of the children have blue lips, it really sad. Also, its over crowded and often children defacate in the pool and they will close it without refund. I gave it 2 stars because the kids do seem to have fun ( til the pool got deficated in) I also want to mention something about the cleanliness of the facility. Its pretty gross. There is this brown substance around the drains, looks to be the consistency of motor oil; can't seem to tell exactly what it is. Also the locker rooms smell dirty, I opted to change in my car and shower at home. The day I went there the ladies at the counter completely ignored my presence. The pool isn't as gross as it used to be since it was re-done a few months ago but the bathrooms can get pretty disgusting during the peak times. Be sure to wear your flip-flops! Rude and dismissive staff, checked in at 3pm to swim was given a card and asked to wait until called. Patiently waited for over an hour in the lobby with two toddlers, realized people were going in before me and had a gut feeling something was wrong. Asked the guy at the front desk if he could provide an update for me and check my place in line with my waiting card present. He refused to assist me and told me "no change, no change, no change" repeatedly. Frustrated I decided to wait a bit longer hoping to be called soon, a difficult task with small children. 20 mins pass and I give up, we approach the desk and a lady finally asks how long we had been waiting - she found we were skipped entirely, they never called our number and we were on an old list. Checked in at 3:00pm and didn't get to the pool until close to 5pm. I understand being overwhelmed (especially with pandemic changes), but at no point was I rude, I just wanted an update or answer. I'm annoyed at how the employees handled the situation. I did note how much more willing he was to assist another family after me, so why not us? It felt icky and discriminatory. Left me in a bad mood, but it wasn't about me it was about my children having a fun time. Stressful time, if you go be prepared to advocate for yourself as staff is rude, dismissive and easily overwhelmed. read more

This is a great place to spend a few hours cooling off. There was something for everyone from the 7 month old to adults. The cost was reasonable, and they provided a free lock for their lockers on request. The staff was mostly in their teens or twenties, but very nice. We visited here while on vacation a couple of weeks ago. There was a waiting list, we got on it and were told 45 minutes. We were in within 10 minutes. The people at the counter were super nice. Once inside the restroom and changing area was adequate, we quickly changed and stowed our bag in a locker. Before we could get to the water however there was an emergency and the pool was closed, everyone shuffled out to wait. It seems there was a kid who had been injured. The ambulance came and took said kid away. Parents and children both bemoaned having to wait ( I patiently reminded my children that an emergency is what it is, that I would want to be out of the area to let the paramedics and the lifeguards handle it) After all they were just doing their job and protecting the rest of us. Once back in we played for a solid 45 minutes before once more the two whistles of the lifeguards indicated that we were to get out of the water... not sure why, but we were allowed back in, in just a few minutes. Water was cold, but refreshing. Over all we really enjoyed being here. They have limited hours, and seem to get booked up a lot, however, just be patient, play on the foose table and relax, you will get in. read more

Brought our 15 month old here to kill some time while on vacation. She had an absolute blast going down the toddler slide. We have season tickets to Wet n Wild in Phoenix so we rather enjoyed being able to swim indoors away from the heat. My only real complaint is that the smell of chlorine can be pretty overwhelming at times. Seems about right though since it's a giant indoor pool and all. Also, it's actually a little chilly indoors because they have AC blasting in different parks of the pool area. My daughter had blue lips by the time we called it a day (about an hour of play time). We brought our whole family here including ages from 80 yrs to 10 months old while on vacation. We had a blast and it was so clean! Our kids enjoyed the play area and the lazy river. The adults and older kids loved the two giant tube slides and the grandparents enjoyed watching all of us from the DRY seating area. They have plenty of storage and the locker rooms were clean. My only complaint is that periodically the life guards blew their whistles loudly signaling for everyone to get out of the water and stand along the perimeter. I believe this was a safety check but it was very difficult to keep the kiddos calm during this extended period of time. There were several impatient and crying 2 and 3 year olds that didn't understand what was happening. Other than that issue it was a great time and we came back twice while on our vacation. read more

This is a lovely facility but I've had major problems and dismissal from front desk and lifeguard staff over cleaning the facility better, specifically the locker rooms with dirty floors. Apparently floor is never mopped during daytime when floors are disgusting. Also, upstairs has become too crowded with extra equipment installed that there's no room for. I will stay on this because my tax dollars and membership fees have helped pay for facility. I've had to bring this up too many times. Also, no private rental closures should be done during advertised hours. read more
