We love this place! We've only gone to use the pool while staying at my parent's cabin in Munds Park but from what I can tell, the entire facility seems very nice & looks very clean. I was staying at the cabin for a couple of weeks in 09 & found this place while googling for public pools in Flag. My Boys were in heaven & we stayed for a good 2-3 hours. This last time we went, just a couple of days ago, I inquired about leaving them to swim while I went to get my grocery shopping done. They said they would have to pass a couple of tests so they could get an independent swim pass. This is for ages 5-11. I think it's great that they offer this & since my kids have been swimming since they were 1.5, I had no qualms about leaving them. My 12 y/o was old enough to not have to test & my 8 & 10 y/o passed the written & physical tests with flying colors & off I went to get my groceries. Win-Win for all of us! My only complaint is that unless you are swimming, it is uncomfortably hot in there. It's literally like sitting in a sauna & I hate saunas! If you are lucky enough to score a chair by one of the doors that they leave cracked open, that makes it a little bit more bearable. A few other things worth mentioning.. I asked if we could come back once we left without having to pay again & they said as long as we signed out, we could come back until they closed that night which I believe wasn't until 9:45. We didn't end up going back but I liked that they gave us the option. You are not allowed to bring in outside food or drinks although I saw many people there with water bottles. I think there is a snack bar or at least vending machines but I didn't actually see it so don't quote me on this! This will def be a go-to place for us when we are staying in Munds Park in the future! read more

My daughter is currently going through swimming lessons here. When registering her we found that the cost of the family to join was much cheaper than my wife by herself at another local gym. We are in process of switching memberships here so the whole family can enjoy the perks. Aquaplex provides daycare, is starting Zumba classes next month, and the clientle here is much more friendly than the nose in the air snobs at our current gym. read more

I was visiting Flagstaff and checked their website and it said aquaplex hours from AM to PM. So I get there at about noon with my kids who were very excited and she proceeds to tell me that the pool PART of it doesn't open till 1pm. That is extremely frustrating, put that on the Website clearly where people do not have to go through all sorts of pages just to find that INFO if it was even there. I didn't see it. The air hockey table was broken and because my kids were wearing their DRY swimsuits they couldn't climb the climbing wall. I saw another family that went through the same issue. I was disappointed. One more thing, not a real big deal, but the pic shows innertubes that you can float on; they only keep about 5 or 6 in stock so after that you wait until the other person is done or you don't ride one. read more

They close the pool for 30 min when lightning is in the area even though the building has lightning rods. They said its because they have copper pipes. Bad design or ignorant policy. Either way don't bother coming during monsoon season. read more

Clean, friendly, and refreshing. Get there early before summer crowd or you will miss out once they stop admitting to pool area due to occupancy limits. read more

Nice place. Decent pool, gym, and facilities. Staff is great. Showers could be cleaner. Overall- not bad for city rec.

The facility is very nice (I use pool area only). Aside from the lockers and showers being on a chilly side, my only significant concern is that children are allowed to run on the deck in the lazy river area and to jump in, creating a real risk for themselves and others. I really wish that the staff (who are very nice) were more attentive to the issue and intervened. read more

The other one star review said it best...the pool is DISGUSTING! And not only that, but it is so freezing cold that you can't enjoy yourself. The few times I've gone, my little boy's lips turned blue and he was shivering. The family locker rooms are so disgusting and never cleaned. There's always a pool of water in them, so definitely not safe for little ones. The weight & cardio area isn't great either. The free weight area is tiny and always packed and there are young kids running round the track all the time. I'd highly recommend you avoid getting a membership here. Not only are the amenities horrible, you are committing to a contract that you can't break. I'm stuck in mine for 4 more months and I'm flushing money down the toilet every day. The only reason this place deserves one star is there's a young man that works the rock wall that is very friendly and my 14 yr old enjoys climbing there. Don't waste your money here. Spend a little more and go somewhere nicer! read more

I wish I could give this place 5 stars but I can't. We tried to visit Aquaplex on a Tuesday at 4pm after we arrived in Flagstaff from a 10 hour car drive with 2 kids who couldn't wait to get out of the car and swim. Unfortunately our hotel pool was not running so they suggested we visit Aquaplex which was only a few blocks from our hotel. When we arrived with towels and bathing suits in hand the young lady behind the counter welcomed us with a list of things we could do at Aquaplex. We told her what happened at the hotel pool and that WE JUST WANT TO TAKE THE KIDS TO SWIM and she said okay that will be $20 for 2 kids and 2 adults. Okay thats fine, we paid with a credit card and got a lock from the girl and went on our way out to the pool area. When we got to the pool there was 1 lap swimmer in the lanes and a young lifeguard ran over to us and said "what are you doing"..... we told her we were there to take the kids swimming and she said "no, the pool is only open for lap swimming". So we told her we just were sold swimming passes from the front desk and she said "no, you can't come in until 7pm". We went to the front desk and told the girl who sold us the tickets what happened and she said "oh yeah, I forgot its Tuesday, you can't swim until 7pm, but you can do everything else". We specifically told her when we walked in we ONLY WANT TO TAKE THE KIDS SWIMMING!. She said well you can come back at 7pm. We told her we couldn't come back that late and she said well I will give you a credit to come back again??? That wasn't an option, we live 500 miles away. My kids were in tears and there was no flexibility, they just didn't care. Finally after waiting around there for about 15 minutes another girl marches up to us with a $20 bill. Hands it to us as if we had totally put them out. The reason I write this is to warn out of town guest to make sure they remind the young front desk staff what day of the week it is when they purchase their admission tickets. Other then that it looked like a very nice facility...... but at 4pm when you would think the best time for families to come in to swim the place was dead.... only 1 lap swimmer and they lost 4 customers for that afternoon. read more

We ponied up for membership fees primarily so we could take advantage of the weight room (body building machines). When the Aquaplex first opened, all was fine. But then machines began breaking and were taken out of service. At first, only 1 or 2, but because they refused to get them promptly repaired eventually half of the treadmills and ellipticals were out of service for days which turned to weeks which turned to MONTHS on end. That was enough for me when I had to wait in line to access 1 of the 2 ellipticals still in service out of the 6 on site. RIDICULOUS! We let our membership expire and went to the YMCA and have been happy ever since! NOT GOING BACK! read more

Beware--make sure you're informed this is the way they do business. New to the area i wanted to check out the gym so i paid my down payment of $80 (signed a contract) on March 7th, and haven't had the chance to go in and try it out. Almost 3 weeks later (march 24th) i received a call stating i was just outside of Flagstaff city limits and wanted to receive more for my monthly payment as well as an additional charge for my sign up fee. Frustrated that i was paying for their mistake, i requested to cancel my subscription because now i was paying for a price i did not sign for. A day later i receive a call from their manager, and she claimed i could not get my money back for approximately 37 days, April 31st. So my suggestion is, do business with these people at your own risk. They will overcharge, and will keep your money for weeks. read more

It would be a great place if they improved a few things. The weight room is very dated, and they need more equipment. When you walk into the pool area your eyes immediately start burning from the chlorine, they need to open the place up or figure something out with that. Not to mention the pools are freezing! All the little kids are running around with purple lips and shaking! The staff is very friendly, so that is something good. We got a three month summer membership and doubt we will be renewing. read more

We read the other reviews before we went and were very skeptical. We were pleasantly surprised when we found the pool the perfect temperature, it was not crowded at all during peak hours, the bathrooms were very clean and the staff were all pleasant. We had no wait and never had to leave the pool until we were ready. I highly recommend the Aquaplex. read more
