Upon arriving, Vivian told us that the cost would be more because the ponds were dirtier than she was expecting and they were bigger than we had told her, which is fair enough. However, she didn't say how much more it would cost. She left that price nebulous until she was finished, and when she was finished, she left a huge smelly mess (keep reading). They left sediment in the bottom of the pond and placed all of the decomposed organic matter from the bottom of the pond just next to the pond on top of our landscaping rock. For approximately 12 hours of labor (2 people at 6 hours), she wanted to charge me $1,100 plus tax, and she gave me this price after her work was completed. That's more than $91/hour per person. If you choose to employ this company, I recommend that you receive a firm price before the work is performed with a written and signed contract. I also urge you to communicate clearly with them regarding what should happen with the debris they remove from your pond. Now, we have this huge mess atop our landscaping that we need to remove by hand, and our backyard smells like a garbage dump.

When I asked for a partial refund of just $300, not even the full value of the fish that died, they hid behind their no-refund policy and offered store credit instead (that was only offered after asking for a refund), which is useless to me since I have no intention of starting this process over. I specifically chose Reklaw over online vendors like Dr. Reef and Fishotel because I wanted to support a local business, and this is how that loyalty was rewarded. The communication was decent, but selling fish carrying parasites and refusing any accountability isn't something store credit fixes. Save yourself the heartache and money and buy from a vendor with an actual health guarantee that takes accountability when something is wrong.
