It's…read morelocated in a beautiful park, just off Magazine Street, and one can ride the St. Charles Street Car to get there. It's an old institution, and is often working to improve their historic exhibits to better serve their animals as well as their visitors. When I recently visited, the sea lion exhibit was being improved. They still had a sea lion show, and I was there at just the right time to see one of their sea lions enjoying an enrichment event. The exhibits are designed to provide a spacious and natural environment for the animals, while allowing the visitors to observe them. In some cases, this allows several species to inhabit the same exhibit, which is a more natural setting. This is definitely a well planned and managed collection, and helps the visitors understand to need to conserve our natural environment. The zoo has a great Louisiana swamp exhibit, which also helps the visitors learn about the cultural history of Louisiana. There are native animals that few might see in nature, but which the visitors can learn about in this setting. These include Alligator Snapping Turtles, and Louisiana Black Bears. There's plenty of places for the visitors to eat, drink, and buy gifts. These are found in convenient locations throughout the park. It's a great experience and especially good for families.

When I dropped her off this time, I asked about the little table that I saw a small dog on getting groomed. They called me an hour later saying they could not groom my dog because she would not get on the little table. "Even the dog knew she could not fit on that table"!!! When I picked her up, the groomer (Angela) said absolutely nothing to me. She took the dog off of the leash and pushed her towards me. I found that very unprofessional and I am currently searching for another groomer.

My husband and I place bets for if we'll actually find both of the things we are looking for as we walk in. It's rare that we do. The store is often in disarray and all too often, we'll find the giant bag of litter we need on a dolly, with other brands piled on top of it, the shelves empty. No staff in sight (I swear there used to be plenty of helpful staff around, asking if they can help you with anything). Anyway, that's a management issue. Stock your shelves, please. Checkout staff is always so nice. No complaints there. If we can help it, we prefer to go to their location in Mid-City which is slightly better than this one on Vets, but sometimes this is the more convenient location given the errands we need to run.

Booked an appointment through the app to get my Auggie groomed, that process was a breeze. I…read morearrived to my appointment about 20 mins early and I was greeted by Kat. She's a super sweet person so i knew my pup was in good hands. I was referred to her by a friend and she did not disappoint. She checked peaches in while I explained to her my vision for how I wanted peaches to look since she hasn't been groomed in a while. I wanted her ears trimmed down, her body cut short but not completely bald, and her butt short to where using the bathroom wouldn't be an issue for her. Kat took my vision and made it a reality, everything was perfect. Not only did peaches smell and look amazing but she was all smiles! Knowing my pup, she normally hates baths and being groomed so I was expecting her to run back to me ready to go but no she was jumping with joy running to both me and kat! Not only did I have an amazing experience but so did my dog and that overjoyed me the most. I'm not sure if there's a leader or head position in the grooming section at petco's but if there is I would fully encourage Kat be that person. Of course they have all the basics, but also multiple varieties of each type of fruit tree, including some less common tropical varieties like longan. There were bonsai starts and supplies, super hot peppers, a seemingly endless variety of landscape plants and pollinator attractors. All of this lovingly tucked tightly together in a way that didn't feel busy, but lush and inviting. Inside the store was no less impressive. There was a wonderful selection of pond/aquarium supplies, small animals, and fish. A young man working on one of the indoor ponds spent a lot of time talking to us about ideas to improve a pond that we have, along with recommendations on fish for it. He, and the owners, seemed quite proud of their wonderful place, as they should be. I look forward to visiting again soon!
