Great Customer Service! I visited Aquatopia of Bend yesterday for the first time, and immediately came back today. The variety that they offer is incredible, I could spend all day looking at their tanks. Ian helped me with diagnosing and fixing my problem with my tank at home. LOVE this place. Highly recommend. The staff are amazing, all of them are super helpful and knowledgeable. They carry great products and have a wide variety of fish salt, fresh and pond. I could spend hours looking at all their tanks. All the fish are healthy, I've never seen a dead one or any that appear to be struggling. If they don't have what you're looking for they are happy to order it for you and make sure it's healthy before you take it home. Over all will not be going back!! Went here to start my tank, wanted 50% more for just the tank than Pet Smart for a 36 gallon tank W/ stand. There's only one guy here of which who's actually helpful/nice, and he has the broken arm! The GM guy of the store with the pony tail is helpful but over loads you with info to the point where you just want to leave (suggest to avoid as well as the teen angst gal, conflict with customers). I set up a fresh water aquarium and to be frank, not a huge selection of fresh water or salt water fish (except his private tank which none are for sale). The GM yells across the store and belittles his employees to the customers behind their back. Tanks are a little underkept, as well as super tight quarters inside the business, but better than the previous location. To be honest Pet Smart/Pet Co has a better selection of fish (saltwater or fresh) and way cheaper prices. (Wanted $375 for 38 gallon tank alone, Paid $250 and got everything I needed to start my tank, including fish, rocks, plant life, aquarium stand, decor, pump etc.) read more

1st - Absolutely unprofessional we asked for advice on what fish to buy as we already had a few different kinds of fish in our tank. The fish they suggested attacked everyone in our tank. So we took them back the same day the owner who sold us the fish told us she would only give us 60% of what we bought the fish for with an attitude. What the heck! 2nd - they are crazy over priced on most fish not all but most. For example a Rambow shark there cost 8.50....at Petco they are 3.99! This is just one example. 3rd - don't buy a tank, pump or anything from them as you can find it for 3 times cheaper online. Yes! 3 times cheaper! We support local businesses as it is nice to have a store to go to but, this isn't a few dollars more to cover overhead, this is a rip off! read more

Wow!!! What an AMAZING place!! We could have spent hours looking at all the fish and invertebrates! We came in to get a simple 5 gallon betta tank set up correctly for my daughter. They answered every question and took the time to explain things to her that I had forgotten after 15 years of no fish. Wow! So amazing and its the place to be. The building owners won't fix it for wheelchair compliance so these amazing business owners purchase metal ramps. Call from the lot, they ramp the entrance and I can shop! Each person gets amazing service even though 2 people had to work through 20 customers! So Saturday afternoon may not be perfect wheelchair time, but this is definitely the best place to browse, enjoy the amazing variety and wonderful owners! read more

Our water feature and pond was accumulating a lot of string Algae so i contacted Brad at Aquatopia and he came out and spent the better part of a day cleaning our pond and assessing what needed to be done to eliminate or reduce the algae. He added some plants and some water snails and a new filter system. Brad is very knowledgeable and works VERY hard to make your pond more and water feature easier to manage and more attractive. A family run business (Brad is the son) that works very hard at making their customers satisfied and happy. read more

I love it here! The fish look happy and healthy. I love so much that the bettas aren't in cups and look much healthier then in Petco or Walmart. The first time I came here was for an emergency 10 gallon tank because mine broke while moving. It was a good price and they were very helpful and friendly, even though I showed up around 8pm. The aquarium trade has struck some rocky shoals in recent years, but I think that Aquatopia under new management is heading in a great direction. The owners are friendly and helpful and there is a good selection of most of the fish that I look for. In response to the reviewer that felt there was rarely anything new. I'd have to say that I don't see that as a negative. The fish trade needs to be responsible to surviving fish stocks and stocking varieties that are bred easily in captivity is more important to me than seeing them stock something new to keep people entertained. I'd highly suggest freshwater fish keepers to stop by Aquatopia for a visit. I've had great results with the health of fish I've gotten there and the prices are decent. They offer to order any fish that you might have a hankering for, and I was able to get some rainbows that I've always wanted. read more

These guys are awesome! They helped me start up my new aquarium and have helped me all the way through. If I ever have a problem I can just give them a call and they've always been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They have an amazing selection of fish and plants. They are a bit more expensive than your box pet stores but I always know I'm getting quality and that I'm not going to be bringing any disease into my aquarium, and knowing that the extra price is worth it to me. Although the store looks better and more organized, I find that doesn't make up for the lack of knowledge and variety. I have gone in several times over the course of a couple months, and I see the same fish. I expect to see that to an extent, but what I enjoyed before, was going in and seeing something new and exciting. Not to say they don't get new fish; they just don't have the same variety. However, the biggest reason I give the store a lower rating, is because I find the misinformation and lack of knowledge the most frustrating. The previous owner was really into the fish, and demonstrated over and over that he was interested in maintaining the health and welfare of the fish. I get the distinct impression that this is a business-focused store, above all else. I have examples to support my claims, but this is not meant to be a forum for complaints. I just know the store has great potential, so I hope the new owners might heed this information to make it a better store. Since they are new owners, I don't expect perfection, but I do hope to see some improvements. Especially in the area of knowledge. read more
