These people are trash. I called 12 minutes prior to my appointment window and they told me they need to reschedule and couldn't reschedule until 3 weeks later. Ar-be was a reputable company this company claims due to emergencies with other calls they couldn't keep my appointment. They only offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience. Since I had purchased my garage door opener from ARBE I contacted them to obtain a remote control since mine no longer worked. First I'm informed that the remote would cost $50, then I'm told it would cost me $79 for them to come out! I said just to give me a remote its going to cost me $79? She said "yes, they need to get up on a ladder to program it". Then suggested I could go to a garage door supply place in Bedford Park, it would still cost me $50. I said maybe I should try Menards or something, she stated she heard people try that and end up having to return them. I just hung up! I went to my garage door opened took down make & model etc., also had the make & model of my remote., went on Amazon and low and behold they had my exact remote for $32!!! Also does not take a rocket scientist to program a remote for the garage door opener! And it certainly should not cost a person $79!! read more

This company will schedule appointments and cancel them 45 minutes before the time of appointments. Make you reschedule, if you miss one phone call by 15 minutes they will cancel the reschedule. (There isn't a grace period they cancel when you don't answer) This had to be the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life. We contacted AR-BE Garage Doors to repair our lower garage door panel. Julio came out promptly and advised us that the panel could not be replaced and offered several options. We decided to replace our door and ordered a new one, paying half up front and advised the balance was due at installation. AR-BE Garage Doors contracts with C.H.I. Overhead Doors, one of the top manufacturer of garage doors. Javier came to install the door on Saturday and was very professional and did a fine job. We gave Javier our check for the balance due of $1600.00 and a tip upon completion of the garage installation. AR-BE replaced my door opener many years ago with larger motor opener, taking considerable $ for their efforts, and returned 6 years ago to replace two springs for $195.00. Guess my current repair was not a big enough job, as they told me they had no crew in Chicago both times they cancelled, even tho their website says they are the best in Chicago. I don't write many reviews but they deserve the recognition. I called at 11am and they were able to schedule me for same day service, very courteous company, from the technician to the customer service rep. I told them my garage door wouldn't close, kept getting tripped by the sensor even though there wasn't an obstruction. The green light was on so I wasn't sure what it could be. Scott, the technician, took a look at told me that it sometimes does this, all it needs is an adjustment so it shines brighter, it's only noticeable when you get up close to the sensor light hat you can see a slight flicker. He adjusted the sensor/light and quickly fixed my issue. He didn't want to charge because it took him all of 2 minutes to fix, didn't even give me a chance to offer him some lunch money. There are only a few times in life when you're so unbelievably impressed with someone that it becomes one of those life stories you tell at parties. Most people won't even believe the story, but it happened to you and you know it's true! Dave came out to repair my garage door after another contractor (doing other work at my home) screwed it up. AR-BE worked on my super tight schedule and made sure their technician showed up on time. I could almost hear the Ride of the Valkyries as Dave's truck approached my home. With all the fanfare of a royal wedding, Dave emerged from the truck amidst the blaring of trumpets and baton twirlers. He sauntered over, introduced himself, and as if by magic, opened my crooked and defunct garage door with ease. AR-BE installed a new garage door in our home Sep 2019 and it works great! Yesterday I called AR-BE to come out and see what is causing my door opening switch to work incorrectly, (Note: when the door was installed the rep said my motor was working fine and didn't need replacement). Anyway the owner of AR-BE Garage Door came out today, in 90 degree heat, and quickly found that the photo eyes just needed to be adjusted, which he did, and the opener switch worked correctly as it should. I had AR-BE come out to repair the garage door track. Victor came out and did the repair. I asked Victor for a quote for a new garage door opener. They quoted almost $700. I asked Victor if he could install the opener if I bought one myself (knowing they don't cost that much). He quoted me $150, we set up a day/ time for install. He didn't show up 2 times. On the 3rd day he showed up 1 1/2 hours late. He installed it and said if you have any problems, contact me, not AR-BE as this is a "side job" and I don't want to lose my job. The opener is not functioning properly, it opens/closes part way and stops. I called him 3 days in a row with no response. Today I contacted the company and spoke to Dave who indicated he was the manager. I explained the situation to him & he said sorry they are independent contractors. They don't work for us. "There is nothing I can do to help you. We just give them the jobs." I said they are representing you when they show up side job or not, in your company truck. He repeated "sorry I can't help you." Dave, the owner, came on time to my home to check why my garage door would not close, bouncing back open. It took him about 30 seconds to discover that the handle was loose and coming in sight of the electronic eye, which sent the door to open.
