I went during a consultation day and talked to Dustin about what I wanted. Set up the appointment and then just waited til the big day. It was my first tattoo in 10 years so I was a bit nervous. My last tattoo was done in a drunken stupor so I barely remembered what a tattoo felt like. Lol. But Dustin was friendly and after applying the stencil, making sure I was happy with the placement, he let me know that he was going to pull a line on the tattoo and to let him know how it felt. It hurt. Not gonna lie. But after a few mins I remembered it wasn't so bad after all. The place is super clean and the staff is extremely friendly. From the time you walk in to the time you leave, there's active conversation and engagement by the staff. Which is awesome. Some shops aren't like that at all. The artists are very talented and they can do an array of art pieces. I plan on getting some piercings in the summer and have heard rave reviews on how great the piercers are. UPDATE: (9/8/18): I went back and got two piercings by Nathan. He was super friendly, laid back and has a really cool kinda silly personality. But that's what you want when you're getting needles pushed through your flesh. He did a great job with making sure I was comfortable, making sure everything was sanitary, and making sure I was ok multiple times before, during and after the piercing. He's very thorough and I'd highly recommend him for your piercings. See photos!

I ended up making some last minute adjustments. The final design was even better than what I imagined. She took care to make sure I was happy with the placement of the design before starting. We had great conversation through the entire process. I left with very detailed instructions of how to care for my tattoo. My artist Sam (hi Sam!) was kind, exuded positive vibes, and showed immense reverence for the moment. She based the design on something my late husband had created when we first started dating, checked with me repeatedly about the approach she was taking, and fundamentally ensured I knew she was keenly aware of the importance of that work. You can get tattoos in hundreds of places in Charlotte alone. Haylo Healing Arts Lounge is where you go when the work matters, when you need heart and soul injected as well as the ink.
