Great experience, had an urgent order for a CT scan and thankfully there was a cancellation and I was able to get in the following day. Appointment was for 4pm with arrival time of 3:30. I didn't get the text confirmation, and when I called the morning of they apologize we and stayed on the phone until I received the text. Did all the paperwork online prior to arrival which made the check in process very efficient. Sat down for about three minutes and was called back around 3:40pm. With no wait time, I was walking out by 3:55pm. Talk about service! Everyone was friendly and there were no issues. The care provided was in line with expectations for this type of procedure. Never ever ever ever will I choose to do business with ARA again. I had an appointment, they sent me a bill ahead of time to pay my copay, I paid it, and ended up having to cancel. How hard is it to get refunded? Apparently impossible. The best advice I can give is go elsewhere if you can, and most importantly- NEVER pay a bill ahead of time. Everyone you call is out of the country, the audio between parties is delayed 1 second, so people keep talking over each other. Most people are short with you, hard to understand, and zero empathy. 99% of them have a monotone voice and do not give a crap what your issue is. 1 very friendly person helped me, I think her name was Margaret; sadly the info she gave me was not helpful. You'd think if I was having an issue getting reimbursed, I should call the BILLING dept right? No, they have no record of a payment I made on a BILL. Another person tells me I have to wait 30 business days for the credit card transaction to be processed, they even claimed to put a note in my account, and now magically nobody sees that note. As of today, it has been 44 days that I have been trying to get reimbursed for this payment. They are now "escalating the issue", which, guess what, "will take 4-5 days to process". "thanks for calling, have a nice day". This company is either trying to make life as difficult as possible for people in hopes that people will give up, or they are a classic case of the left hand having no idea what the right hand is doing. They send you back and forth saying they are not seeing the information, or it's someone else's problem, only to be given a new piece of info, but I need to call this dept, and the next dept says that information is not right. This place is awful. Good luck getting your results. I've been waiting ten days for a simple MRI result. I've had three MRIs before, it takes 24-72 hours. When I call to get an estimate on when I'll get them, they tell me their policy is they don't give estimates on when your results will be in. That's insane. It's 2026, you seriously can't figure this out? Really? How are you still in business? This was through the community care program at the VA. At this point it would have been faster to just go through the VA. If a private company can't get something done faster than The Department of Veterans Affairs, you're doing something seriously wrong. This place is an absolute joke, run by clowns. What a goat rope. How about this, before you let someone book at your facility, how about you explain your ridiculous and incompetent wait time and inability to give a simple estimate on turn around time so we can go somewhere else. I paid over $30 on an Uber, which kept me waiting forever. After all that, I showed up just a couple minutes late and they refused to see me. Refused to even try to fit me in; and can't find time for me til next month. Now I have to wait for my $30 Uber home, and I have no idea when I'll be able to get the ct scan of my brain. On January 16, 2026 ARA did a bone density scan on me. my experience with getting the scan done and interactions with staff were great. However, the billing department is terrible. Total charges for the scan was $215, of which my insurance paid $173.28. This left a balance of $41.72 that I was responsible for. On April 3, 2026 I paid the bill online with my debit card. Since then, I still get statements saying I owe this amount. I have called the billing department numerous times, and emailed a copy of my bank statement showing the amount paid to ARA Diagnostic. I was told on the phone my billing issue would be "escalated", and someone should be contacting me. No one has ever contacted me. Recently, I received a "final notice" bill. Everyone here was super helpful and supported me through the procedure, including one tech who just sat by me and held my foot when I was in the scanning tube for comfort. The scheduling was easy and the wait was short. They billed my insurance and refunded the excess to me easily when insurance paid the full amount. 10/10 recommend. read more

My wife preapproved her visit with Blue Cross BS of Tx. However, when she told this to the middle-aged guy in a gray hoodie at the front desk, he made a big show of negating her and said her insurance was invalid (making sure everyone else in the lobby got a taste) and then basically scolded her, said she'd have to prepay, and told her to call BCBS... while the clock was ticking on her keeping her scan appointment. Note that this scan is VERY hard to schedule because ARA doesn't like the $ on the procedure and, well, they have a monopoly. Of course, BCBS doesn't pick up the consumer line, so 20 minutes tick by, and we're at risk of completely missing the timeslot. Fortunately, she got back in the looong line and talked to a tan Hispanic guy. He called BCBS using the provider line, confirmed the preapproval, and we got our scan. I have claustrophobia so I need sedation for an MRI and all the staff there could not have been more helpful, more compassionate, more caring because of my pain and my anxiety due to the claustrophobia. I had cervical spine xrays here THREE DAYS ago and still don't have the results, nor have any images been posted for my doctor to see. What the heck?? It's a simple xray - some of the oldest technology around! That said, I don't think this is the fault of the xray tech who was wonderful, and the front desk people were very efficient and helpful in checking me in. But honestly, I don't go get X-rays for the wonderful staff, I get them because my dr. is trying to diagnose a medical issue. C'mon, ARA! No excuse for this kind of sloppy delay. read more

I went here for an x-Ray and was treated well. They have lots of changing rooms down the hall that are pretty small but held by magnet so it feels pretty secure and private. They also have clean gowns in the rooms and bins to place the used gowns. The wait was a little longer than I would have preferred but once I was called in, the process went pretty quickly and smoothly. This place is sandwiched between a Taco Bell and Gold's gym in a strip center on the feeder of Ben White Blvd. I brought my wife here for a spinal scan. Apparently they take late night appointments and we had a 9:30 PM appointment, but fortunately someone canceled so we got in earlier at 8:45. We basically sat alone in a room of about 30 chairs for 15 minutes before being led to one of many small dressing rooms. There you will change out of your clothes and stash them in a locker. But first we did have to fill out an iPad with its list of questions and paid $175 as a co-pay. Your co-pay supposedly depends on your insurance carrier. There are 2 waiting rooms, one in the lobby and a smaller one in back with 14 chairs where you'll be waiting in your issued backless gown, socks and pants until you are called. Apparently they can handle quite a few patients at a time since they have 3 MRI machines. We were in and out in just slightly over an hour and a half. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Your doctor will have your results within 24 to 48 hours. read more

I've been coming to this location for my imaging since 2010. I recently had to have a CT Myelogram for my cervical spine. This is a somewhat delicate and difficult procedure. Having had one before, with the same Dr, I knew a little about what to expect. It required fasting, as they gave mild sedation for this procedure. Let me just say that it was worse than I anticipated, but, Dr Richardson and his assistant, could not have been more professional, respectful, and empathetic during the whole process. I was experiencing a lot of pain, and Dr Richardson gently placed his hands on my shoulders, and in the kindest voice, told me that my discomfort would subside very soon. That human touch, and basic kindness, that seems to be missing in our society as a whole, made all the difference in the world to me. So, I want to extend my gratitude to Dr Richardson, his assistant, and Ryan. Ryan was the merciful coffee angel, who made the experience tolerable, by bringing me some coffee in recovery. I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you, ARA. Thank you for helping me with a payment plan, thank you for the professionalism of your staff,both medical and support, and most of all, thank you for your kindness, that was extended from everyone I encountered. My gold cross pendant is gone! I dropped it, someone found it, and they are act like they never saw anything. It was August 6th and I left at about 10:30pm or so. I had it when I walked from the lockers to a dressing room but I never saw it again. I love that thing. 14K gold cross more than one inch long with leaves on it, and a medium weight gold chain. Both items are from James Avery. I can't believe that no one found it. Someone had to see it. What did they do with it? Where is it? That was the nicest thing I had. I call them and they say no one found anything. How could they miss it? James Avery gold is very good and shiny. To replace it with tax is $1950.00. Please somebody there help me. As a first time mom, and my first ultrasound, this appointment wasn't what I expected. The lady who was doing my ultrasound was very nice at first and I kept asking my bf questions regarding the ultrasound and the lady told us she would show the ultrasound at the end. once we were at the end and I asked about showing us the pictures like she had said, she said "first time parents are pretty satisfied with the heart beat" meaning she didnt want to show us the ultrasound pictures... she said we could get the cd up at the front? Go to the front, there isn't a cd, we have to use their dinosaur website to create an account and wait 5 business days for these ultrasound picture. Which were horrible to download. It is never fun to have to go do medical imaging, but I had a great experience with a ARA Southwood. It was a bit hectic to schedule (I missed their first calls to me directly), and then because I think they are understaffed, I had to hold about 70 minutes for a scheduler. But the person who I chatted with was so helpful, and I got my appointment scheduled just before the end of 2022. Hopefully they can hire more schedulers to help out the scheduling team. My specific MRI had some prep involved, including drinking some fluids for better contrast. Iraj was my nurse/tech who helped me throughout the process. He was very calming and kept checking in on me. My MRI technician Brad was also awesome. He helped accommodate my nerves about the procedure, and he was very comforting throughout the process. Both Iraj and Brad were great communicators, which is always comforting for patients. All in all, I highly recommend ARA Southwood for your imaging needs. They stick to their schedules and are very friendly and comforting professionals. read more

I get there about an hour early. I checked in at the counter. Paid $700 dollars for CT scan.(with insurance) the counter lady seem a bit annoyed. She was on her phone... non of my business. After Maybe 30minutes, I went to the bathroom, I guess she realized I had no been seen yet because she asked me. It did seem odd people getting there after me were getting called first. No biggie I was super early anyway. I'm really bad with names , want to say Doctor Sarah S. Avery, and nurse Ari were awesome!!! Felt very comfortable. They took the time to explain the procedure and answered all my question. The rooms are freezing, and I was offered a hot blanket!!! Waited 15mins before I could be released. Super convenient for me. This is a review of ARA Corporate. Do not expect anything approaching a sincere apology when multiple issues happen with your appointment i.e. proper machine not scheduled (stipulation was specific when appointment was made) , order mishandling (being told they have the physician order, when they didn't), IV insertion incompetence (tore up my veins 3 times for a contrast that was pointless, since the test couldn't happen without an order), and completely wasting my time and necessitated a rescheduling. Mistakes can happen, although this is a lot of screwing up going on here. But the biggest issue is the nasty attitude of the corporate liaison who handled this complaint. It took irrefutable proof of the screw up (recording)for her to even, profoundly and insincerely, "apologize". I don't construe that to actually care at all. Not likely anything will change here, since they don't have real competition in this particular market. read more

Appointments on time, nice people, not the best parking lot but I must admit that they have been able to diagnose problems when others have failed. The only problem we had was when scans were sent to the wrong doctor in error, but other scans had gone to him. Simple mistake. I have been their during the day and at night. I prefer the days but at night I have gone to sleep during an MRI. The drive home was spent trying to wake up. Quite efficient and never a problem with insurance. read more

It's been 4 days and they have still not sent the results of my wife's MRI to the doctor. Unacceptable

I had an MRI of at ARA Southwood MRI 1701 W Ben White Blvd. My issue is with the patient treatment at this particular location. Here is how it works: 1) They took me to a front desk waiting area, where everyone is wearing street clothes like myself. 2) They then took me out of that room and dressed me in the normal buttless gowns that the medical professionals are OBSESSED with that I have come to accept. 3) They then placed me back IN THE RECEPTION AREA WITH PEOPLE WEARING CLOTHING like myself 10 minutes earlier. So picture this scene: I have no phone, no watch, no wallet, no car keys, I'm a room with men and women wearing clothes and I'm the only one not longer wearing clothing and my junk is hanging out. As far as I know, this is a literally totally unheard of procedure. I wish they would offer that for an "extra fee" you don't have to show complete strangers your private parts?? The waiting room has no clock. I thought it was some mistake until they put ANOTHER person half dressed with their butt exposed back in the waiting room (which to be totally honest made me relax a little because I realized for the first time it wasn't a mistake). 4) Then after maybe 20 minute of utter humiliation they came and got me and I had my prostate MRI with tracer, that was fine. Although modern MRI machines (not theirs) talk to you and let you know how long each "imaging run" is going to take and when it is over, their MRI machines seem to be the older lower tech models where you have no idea what is going on. 5) Then they put me BACK IN THE WAITING ROOM WITH PEOPLE WEARING CLOTHES. It was completely humiliating and dehumanizing. My butt is hanging out, I'm not wearing clothes, and it is mixed sex men and women waiting room. I do not have my clothes. The room does not have a clock. I kept asking myself how long I was going to put up with this before I walked out and tried to find my locker with my car keys and drove out of there. I swear I want a menu where I can PAY MORE for some sort of "executive" experience where I can wait in private without my genitals hanging out for the other people in street clothes to see. What the good lord is wrong with these people? Do they get a kick out of humiliating people? I want to find a medical practice/system/group where I can get first world treatment as a human being. 6) Just before I lost my cool, they called me and allowed me to get dressed and leave. That process didn't involve any human interaction, I never saw another person, so I'm utterly baffled why I didn't get out of the MRI machine and get to this stage WITHOUT the additional humiliation of showing my genitals and bare ass to a bunch of people dressed in street clothing. Here is what I know: I will never walk into this MRI center again as long as I live EVEN IF I DIE. For future MRIs at other providers and locations I'm always going to check in advance what the procedure is from now on. Why would they do this? No seriously, why? I have never EVER seen this flow anywhere else. In all other examples there is a waiting room with people wearing clothing, then you go past the doors and there is the period of time you aren't wearing clothing and you do not return to the waiting room until you are wearing clothing again. I just took this for granted until my experience at this crappy bargain basement location. This isn't about cost for me, I can afford better care, I'm looking for a 5% better experience than what this location provides and I'm willing to spend 10 times the money for it. EDIT for Priscilla below, I can't seem to "respond" to her comment below mine. She writes "Any time a situation arises, please know that you have a patient advocate ... that you may reach out to us at (512) 795-5100, Ext. 5450" - seriously, this is the procedure FOR ALL MRI PATIENTS. All of them. Every time. Just go see it for yourself, it's like this EVERY DAY, the issue is 100% observable and reproducible. This location goes out of it's way to humiliate patients, I'd rather die than ever set foot back in this place ever again. Houston HAS to have an MRI machine, and it's only a 3 hour drive away. It is BEYOND WORTH IT to drive there to not expose your naked body to other strangers, which is the guaranteed experience at this place. read more

A well-run facility with one major advantage: they run a VERY wide battery of tests here, which allows you to get blood work done, along with ultrasound and MRI scans on the same day. Scheduled a week in advance, arrived early to do the paperwork, and was able to get in only 10 minutes later than the appointment time. The staff was reasonably friendly and efficient to boot. Pro Tip 1: Be sure to check out Google Maps before coming here. It's on a frontage road off the 290, and if you come from the north as I did, you'll have to stay in the right lane as you exit the 360. Pro Tip 2: The waiting room's kind of bleah, with well-used furnishings and cramped armrests. But don't take the seat next to the fish tank, there's a weird smell coming from something over there! read more

14 August - Shortly after last update below, I got a call with a polite rep and agreement to review my account. I got another call after that; an explanation; and a reversal of large portion of the original charges. Thank you ARA, for making this right. 31 July - as requested I called number. No answer. No call back. Review stands Service was polite and competent. My problem with the business is that I saw them after an accident. I lost my job and healthcare from that accident. The other driver was found 100% at fault and ARA refused to send their bills to the insurance company. I ended up paying full price for this service. I didn't get rich and will live out my life with tinnitus. If you are in an accident, look for another provider in my opinion. read more

First mammo ever. I put off the call for ages, finally picked up the phone; lucky me, they had a same-day appointment available. this shopping center is a bit sketch if you ask me, but parked right in front and walked in, lobby is present enough, if a bit dated. Staff was nice and immediately led me back to mammogram waiting room. Keurig and TV? Sold. A few minutes later I was led to a dressing room - nothing fancy, just a private room with a plastic accordion door. I was given a branded cloth bag (nice touch!) to place my clothing (must be naked from waist-up) and put on my very glamorous (not) gown. From there I was led into the exam room. Talk about night and day. Spotless, organized, technology everywhere; dimly lit so it seemed more intimate. My technician came in a second later and was the absolute sweetest. Very professional but so friendly and I felt instantly comfortable. She also answer my barage of questions. Questions that don't even relate to me specifically (what about breastfeeding mamas? Implants?) but she kindly accommodated, all the while, gently guiding me through a potentially awkward and uncomfortable procedure. Though awkward in the way I was manhandled by the imaging machine, it was not uncomfortable physically. Bottom line, this was NBD, and there was absolutely no reason to put off this life-saving procedure. GO DO IT. read more

In a nutshell, this is a HORRIBLE place for any patient who isn't comfortable being seen by other patients and their accompanying family members while wearing nothing but a hospital gown, underwear and socks. The details (and for the sake of clarity this will be wordy), but let me start out by saying that the staff was FINE, I have zero complaints about ANYONE on staff. It's their process that horrified me. I have to have periodic MRIs of my brain, so after having had several of them, I was well aware that it's VITAL not to have even a speck of metal on or in my body when going into a massive magnet. I totally get that, not a problem. The first few times I went though this exam, I was first ASKED both in writing and orally whether I was wearing any metal or had any piercings or implants of any kind, etc., and of course not being an idiot I answered accurately that I didn't have anything like that, and they trusted my answer. As a disabled (and now elderly) person, I wear loose, usually knit clothing that I can get on and take off easily, never any zippers or buttons. I was always allowed to go through the MRI in my regular, soft, non-metal clothes. Well I guess experience & maybe litigation taught them not to trust patients to answer that question accurately anymore, so now in addition to being asked repeatedly about the presence of any metal, one is now required to undress and wear a gown during the procedure anyway. Also, not a problem, I totally get it. Even if they're just scanning your head as in my case, you can't wear anything you came in wearing except your underwear and socks, so you don one of their hospital gowns. You are also provided with a pair of (non-stretchy) scrub pants, IF you can get into them (and fit into them), but they didn't fit me so I just asked for a second gown so I could wear one opening frontward and the other opening backward. No problem. Disability is about nothing so much as adapting. (My son, a computer tech, asked me later why they don't just have a metal detector at the door of the room, which I thought was a good question but I didn't ask them.) So once I was safely dressed (or barely half-dressed), I was escorted in my underpants, socks and gowns from the changing booth to another waiting room, where I had to sit and wait with other half-dressed patients (male and female), along with the family members who accompanied them. That was an awkward, really uncomfortable situation for me and for some others; ALL the obese people were bottomless, and there was a very elderly woman there sitting across from me, also in a gown, looking very obviously embarrassed, trying to cover her bra-less, gown-covered chest with her arms. I tried to ignore the whole situation and just breath deeply and chill out, it was VERY uncomfortable. When my name was called, I was immediately relieved that not only was my waiting time over, but I'd FINALLY be entering a truly PRIVATE room where only healthcare professionals would be looking at me...or so I THOUGHT! But nope, no such luck. First, I was stunned to learn that I wouldn't be allowed to take my walker into the room, even briefly, just until I could get to the edge of the scanning table, I guess because on some level the magnet part is always running or might go on unexpectedly, so I was forced to leave my walker outside of the room (!) and walk unaided across a long (for a disabled person who can barely walk at all) expanse of linoleum floor while only wearing slippery socks on my feet, which is INSANELY dangerous for disabled elderly anyway, but I took my time and didn't fall, thank goodness. I can't imagine what they do with people who cannot possibly walk a single step at all. I guess they just don't get MRIs. After I managed to get safely to the scanning table, things only got worse. The door to the MRI room, which was more or less beyond the foot of the table, was still WIDE open and I could still be clearly seen by patients sitting outside the room, so I still had an audience as I struggled awkwardly to climb onto the table and gradually get into the position they needed for my scan. Because I get muscle spasms in my legs whenever I try to lie flat on my back, I asked for "the wedge' (a giant pillow-type thing) to be put under my legs; maybe they use that for everyone. When I was holding my legs up in the air at their request as the tech gradually positioned the wedge, I knew I was practically mooning the old guy outside the door who hadn't taken his eyes off me. (I'd been the HIPAA compliance officer for the family practice where I'd worked, and I was realizing that there's nothing in HIPAA re: PHYSICAL privacy. It's just about privacy of medical RECORDS, not your actual body.) I resolved then and there to NEVER to put myself through that humiliation again. No more MRIs for me, as least never from ARA. read more

I was sent here by my neurologist for a head MRI w/ contrasting. I was called immediately to make an appt (was left a voicemail) but couldn't schedule bc I had hair extensions w metal beads in them (needed to wait for them to be out). When I was ready to schedule the call center was helpful and booked me within a reasonable period of time. I got a voicemail the Friday before my Monday appt saying I was not scheduled appropriately and they would need to find a different time. I got back to them Monday morning and was able to schedule at 7:30 pm appt Weds which is convenient because I work late. The front desk staff was cordial and the paperwork wasnt too long. After filling out my forms I was greeted by a technician and brought to the back where I was given garments to change into and a locker to use w a key I could take w me. The waiting room in the back was clean, quiet, and had a TV. My flabotomist, Randall was professional, caring, and one of the best needle workers I've had in Austin. I barely felt it. I was put back into the back waiting room briefly and was seen by the MRI technician, Mark shortly after. He was very kind to me, told me the process I was about to go through and offered me wireless headphones to drown out the banging of the machine. He told me I had a pick of the genre: "country, rock...." i said rap (or at the very least hip hop) and he put it right on. I got in my zone and before I knew it he was telling me I was done. Randall took my IV out and wrapped my arm up. It's not easily done because I had to have a blood draw 3 hours before. I have extra gauze in my arm and never bled excessively. They are professionals at this location and would recommend going here especially if Mark and Randall are working. read more

Do not come here. This place is filthy, germ filled and incompetent. The waiting room is full, with people coughing and blowing their nose nonstop. There is a screening when you enter but no temperature check. I came two times before they realized that they actually did have my prescription in their system. They had overlooked the prescription multiple times. People were rude, just worried about when they could go to lunch and I feel like this is a COVID hot spot. So it's COVID, but my complaint doesn't pertain to the confusing logistics around that. I actually felt bad for front desk staff trying to figure that out as the first patients wandered in. Whoever changed the system on them without explaining it before it went live isn't exactly doing there job well. However, that didn't affect me much as a patient other than mild confusion. What I'm upset about is the cancellation of my appointment the business day before, after waiting 3 weeks for it. Apparently they didn't get an insurance authorization, but nobody had the decency to tell me about the issue before the "deadline." This scared me because I've been undergoing tests since Feb trying desperately to figure out a health concern affecting my quality of life. So yeah, I didn't want to wait 3 weeks to get another appointment. Anyway, this promoted numerous phone calls that morning with ARA and my physician. Turns out the physician's office was actually working on the authorization and had literally told ARA it would be done today, yet ARA still called me. Authorization was literally done in an hour. Either you call a patient with some lead time to figure it out or you give a firm answer when you know what's going on. I personally would have preferred lead time. Then I had to call back and get rescheduled, because yes, they did cancel the appointment. Luckily the person on the phone was willing to work with me. At first my appointment time didn't come up because the "deadline" had passed. But somehow he was able to book me back into my slot. Thank you, at least there's that. As I write this I'm sitting outside ARA for what will probably be 1.5 hours. Why? Well when I booked these two tests, either time, they only gave me the 1st appointment slot. They gave me instructions for both appointments telling me I'd be done by now. What they neglected to say is that information was incorrect. That I'd be done with the first test now and be waiting an hour and a half and then have the second test and really be done by 12pm (hopefully) after getting here at 7:30am. That's kind of an important thing to tell a person. Meanwhile the person who ran my first test tried to help me out, but still saying it's not her job and she knows nothing about this. Ok cool. I appreciate the kindness of doing something outside of your job description. The only thing though is that a patient shouldn't know the ins and outs of your operation in order to understand what to expect, timeline and all. That's bedside manner, which last I checked is important in healthcare, just as important as the technical stuff because we're humans, not robots. read more

Scheduling is proving impossible. Every time I call, there is a very long recorded message system to get through before being told the phone wait time is over 30 minutes. They suggest getting a call-back. If you miss the callback, you have to start over with the entire process. They obviously don't have adequate staff to answer the phones. I'm going to call my Dr.'s office to see if there is an alternative to getting the procedure done somewhere else. They obviously don't want my business. read more

This place has terrible customer service and rude staff, as soon as we walk in the lady at the door greets me and my girlfriend asking if we both need to come in.. which is not a terrible question but her attitude and demeanor was unprofessional. Also, as soon as we get in there is a patient arguing with the man at the front desk who wasn't calming the situation down. In a nutshell: Administrative staff/experience? LOUSY. Professional staff (doctor/nurse)? EXCELLENT. Out of the nutshell: I was recently referred to ARA for a procedure and, although it was event free and relatively quick, the interactions I had leading up to it were lousy at best. Even though the procedure was clearly identified on the referral that ARA received, I was initially scheduled for a completely different/unrelated procedure. I discovered this when I called to change the appointment time that had been scheduled by my insurance. After I explained the situation to the first person I spoke to--and after an extended hold time for her to verify the referral info--she told me she'd transfer me to whomever I needed to speak. DISCONNECTION #1. I called back hoping I wouldn't need to re-explain myself, but no such luck. Now 25+ minutes and two explanations later--with a second extended hold time to verify the referral again, and a minute or two to supposedly highlight info on the referral--I was transferred to a third individual for rescheduling. Given all of the above, do you think the third person I was transferred to would be informed or more capable of reading the referral? NOPE. Time for explanation #3 of the still unhighlighted info. After a good bit of back and forth, she began reading preparation info for my procedure, to include that I'd need to have someone I know bring me because I would be sedated. I pointed out that the "sedation" was localized and that I wouldn't request or require any other type of sedation for the procedure. I was then transferred to a "paramedic" because she was unfamiliar with the procedure (even though she was informing me, incorrectly, about what I needed to do preparation-wise.). Among other things, the paramedic confirmed what I shared with the scheduler and, when transferring me back to the scheduler? DISCONNECTION #2. Three separate calls (all initiated by me), four different people, and just under an hour on the phone to reschedule a single appointment. Talk about customer-centric efficiency and professionalism! (sarcasm) Fast forward a day or two when another "paramedic" called to go over procedure prep. Here again, I was robotically told I'd need someone I know to drive me. I again pointed out that was incorrect given that I wouldn't request sedation and this was brusquely confirmed. I was then asked what medications I take and was told to stop taking my psychiatric medication 2 days prior to the procedure because it could lower my seizure threshold. Me: "So...you'd rather have me discontinue crucial medication than face an infinitesimally small risk of seizures (based on my age/weight/health/medical history--none of which I was asked about--and based specifically on this procedure)? His curt response: "Well you can choose not to have the procedure." Me: "Thanks for the ultimatum, that's really helpful and increases my comfort in relation to this procedure." What's important to note about the above interaction is 1) the lack of empathy/humanity of the individual I interacted with, and 2) the fact that I was never asked dosage, timing, history, or ANY info--other than the name of the medication in question--all of which informs the relatively nonexistent "seizure threshold" risk. I was simply and blithely told to stop taking a crucial medication in an unthinking, unfriendly, uncaring, and inconsiderate way. The takeaway here is that the administrative side of this organization is a customer-service trainwreck (at very least in my experience). I was scheduled incorrectly, told conflicting info, given misinformation, and I was treated rather indifferently, unkindly, and unprofessionally along the way. This extended to the day of my procedure at this clinic (the waiting room of which is reminiscent of a mini-DMV). The receptionist was relatively emotionless and matter of fact, even if the "facts" she shared were anything but (e.g. when I questioned why the form showed me being sedated at 9AM and seen at 10AM when I was scheduled to be seen at 9AM without sedation). She stated it's just routine to block time out that way and that I'd be seen and have my procedure very quickly if I wasn't being sedated. WRONG. I was taken inside and told to change into paper thin garments and left in a cold room for over an hour before my procedure, which took all of 10ish minutes to complete. This was on top of/after arriving 30+ minutes early to fill out paperwork that took 5-10 minutes to complete (admin told me to arrive 30 minutes early and the second paramedic told me to arrive one hour early). I will say that the doctor and nurse were exceptional in their approach, demeanor, and professionalism, but that the 10 minutes I spent with them didn't make up for the hours of calls, clinic time, and headaches that preceded them--particularly given that no one did anything to explain the procedure or to increase my comfort in relation to it beforehand. read more

I had an a MRI yesterday at the Austin Radiological Association. I can honestly say that was an awesome experience!! Everyone from the front desk to everyone I experienced was a total delight!! They were very professional and friendly! The staff was extremely wonderful! Everyone from from Joe, and everyone who I saw. I wish I could remember everyone I saw! I really need to say ThankYou!!! I could not believe how they kept everything so clean!. After someone sat or touched a chair and left it. It was immediately cleaned!! I was impressed!! Even the people at the door when anyone entered were also professional & friendly!! Wow what a wonderful day!! Kudos to everyone!! read more

The front desk girl was very nice which I'm alway happy with being treated like I am welcomed. She Checked me in with a smile and accommodated me. She knows how to do small talk, which I value so much. You are awesome!!!! I'm surprise they are open so late. I'm a cancer patient in treatment and needed to make sure I don't have a blood clot. Work is hard to take off, so thankful for being able to do this at night. read more
