South Austin Touchstone was able to get me in the next day. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. I had imaging done a few months prior so I knew I needed to inform them that I had met my deductible, they just needed to review my file. In my file is the letter from my insurance stating I'd met my deductible. Once that happened I was only charged the 20% I am responsible for. There are many offices that cannot see that you've met your deductible. That's your responsibility as the patient to inform them, therefore you don't incur unnecessary additional fees. Touchstone personnel, are very professional, their offices are very clean, the waiting room is large and offers coffee to customers and their families. Receptionist was a little unwelcoming. As a front office person, I know how important first impressions are. The person running the scan was friendly and helpful. She cared about my wellbeing during the scan. I think that in the initial phone call, it would be nice for them to let one know what kind of clothing to wear (no metal buttons/zippers etc) so that it would not interfere with the scan. Took someone here today and did not have an appointment. Went directly from medical office to Touchstone for an X-ray. The staff up front were very friendly and efficient. So easy to work with. The X-ray lady was incredibly helpful and thoughtful with the patient who is in a wheelchair and paralyzed on the right side. She was so kind and really knew how to manage special needs. I have gone to two different locations and they both have been running 1 hour behind. They let you sit in the lobby and do not tell you. When you ask they will then say something when they could have called and told you they were running behind. read more

UPDATE: Well I finally heard from a supervisor after requesting a couple of times and having the line disconnected (mysteriously). She said they sent for my card to be reimbursed $721.15. They kept the $45 for the copay. I reminded her of the conversations between Mary (Touchstone billing rep) and Susan (my insurance rep) regarding updated paperwork since Touchstone is not entitled to a copayment. She said there was no paperwork for Touchstone to send. She stood pat so I let her know that at this point they had payment from the insurance that covered the MRI fully as well as the explanation of benefits so they had all the necessary information to reimburse me FULLY and their refusal to do was showed they were engaging in billing fraud. I informed her I would be reporting them to the Health Facility Compliance Group at the Texas Department of State Health Services through the AGs office. Then I hung up. OH AND THEY'RE ALSO STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO CHARGE ME FOR THAT SURGICAL TRAY EVEN THOUGH IT'S BEEN EXPLAINED ITS APART OF THE ORIGINAL CLAIM!! I needed to get an ultrasound for a time sensitive concern. When I called to schedule, everything was fine until she told me my out-of-pocket (OOP) responsibility would be $304. I am currently a full time student and that's a lot of money! I asked her if they could remove my insurance and charge me the cash pay discounted rate. I was told that she couldn't see what the cash pay rate was, but that they would still charge me the OOP amount if it was more. Of course, the OOP amount was more than the cash pay amount. Insurance is a nightmare to work with and it costs money to get payment for a single claim. When I asked if they could just remove my insurance and treat me as self pay the response was "that isn't how it works." I worked in healthcare, specifically billing and management, for more than 8yrs. That's exactly how it works. It's clear that this practice is solely concerned with collecting the maximum amount of money, even if it means blocking patients from getting the care that they need or placing them in debt. read more

So this is about Touchstone on W. 38th in Austin, which Yelp won't let me add. Many problems with them: 1. You arrive 15 minutes early, the expected norm for medical appointments. This is a stand-alone facility, as in, it's not in a hospital. DO WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT 45 MINUTES -AN HOUR FOR OUR APPOINTMENT? 2. Staff uses the highly offensive "Miss [+ your first name] to address senior citizen women. This is a piece of racist caca left from slavery, when literally whites used god to say that slaves could not address even a 1 y.o. child by its "christian" name. I will tolerate this from Blacks, but absolutely not from whites. Besides, "Miss" offends most women my age. 3. YOU MUST PAY YOUR COPAY AHEAD OF SERVICES. GUESS WHAT ISN'T SHOWN ON YOUR BILL A MONTH LATER? That's right: Touchstone Imaging steals your money & will try to make you pay again. 4. THEY DEMANDED THAT YOU PAY MORE THAN THE MEDICARE ALLOWED COPAY when they extorted that check from you ahead of treatment. 5.When you call about the bill, Liz refuses to help unless you tell her how to pronounce your first name! Yes, you read that right. 6. Liz also violates the ADA in that convo, even after you explain thay your medical DX is severe deafness and that when aids aren't in [because Bluetooth isn't working], deaf folks can't tell how loud they're talking, and especially deaf folk w/my degree or more of deafness cannot tell how loud they're talking. In a recorded convo, that c*n# continues to accuse you of yelling, which is her way of manipulating you and punishing you for being deaf. When any business is given a free accommodation (just let me talk, because i wasn't yelling -- yelling is something we don't have to hear ourselves do because we feel it in our vocal cords and chest) and refuses to use it, they violate the ADA. Same goes for govt. I didn't ask for them to fix my Bluetooth; i only asked them to let me talk w/o constant interruptions. 6.With both the BS over the bill and the ADA violation, they also committed fraud under Medicare rules AND violated Medicare rules for how to treat patients. I don't know what the deal is with imaging businesses in Austin. Touchstone is marginally better than ARA where you get sexually molested by employees in the halls, but only marginally. read more

I have had many MRIs. This by far is the the worst experience I have ever had. The tech was inexperienced and the exam took over and hour (should have been 25 min) and many sequences were not usable. After re-scheduling another exam, I learned the office will be closed so I need to reschedule again! Go to ARA! Not professional. read more

I never ended up going there, which is part of the problem, why I am giving one star. My doctor referred me there for a CT scan. I called to make the appointment and gave all my information and was told that my out-of-pocket would be $60. The day before my appointment, they called me to confirm and let me know what I should do before my appointment, and then said that they do not go through insurance and that it would be an out-of-pocket payment. I called my insurance, and they said that, not only are they in network, that I was covered at 100% for that particular service and that they were in network. I called Touchstone back and told them that it should be covered at 100% and I was told that they won't bill that procedure through insurance. Both people I spoke to were very rude and even if they did take insurance, I would not have gone there. Even if they were the last imaging place in town I wouldn't go there. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible, and not for the staff or service in the building, but for the billing management. I have been in discussions with the Touchstone billing office since September 2021. It turned out that they miscalculated a bill and they had incorrectly requested $2592.32 in charges. If I hadn't been proactive and knowledgable of the healthcare billing system and if I hadn't had the assistance of my insurer, Touchstone would have sent me to collections for a payment amount I was not actually responsible for. I am STILL in conversations with Touchstone, because when my bill was finally corrected in March 2022, I set up a payment plan but Touchstone continued to bill me as if I hadn't set up the payment plan, marking bills as past due, but even more infuriating they aren't showing my past payments that I also made manually. This company will run you into the ground and deplete all your energy when it comes to settling incorrect healthcare bills. I do NOT recommend them. I suggest going to ARA. read more

Hip hip hooray...for Ruben that is, River Ranch's very friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant technician. This is now the second MRI I needed to have done at this facility and luckily I got Ruben both times. Having to get an MRI is stressful enough, but Ruben made the entire experience quite enjoyable (really!). He guided me through each step of the process, was very pleasant and kept my stress level at a minimum --- even when I had to be pricked by a needle. I wish there were more people in the medical field that handled their patients with such professionalism as Ruben. River Ranch you have an amazing employee, I hope you recognize and appreciate him! One of the nurses here said that you shouldn't read online about Myelograms, because no one writes about a good one. So let me be the first. I had a great experience here, considering the scariness of the procedure, I think that says something. The nurse who checks you in (I didn't get any of their names sorry) but she is amazingly nice and answers all of your questions no matter how tedious (and believe me I'm tedious). The nurse that assisted with the dye injection was a sweetheart, and the Doctor has a great bedside manner and I really felt minimal discomfort (I have had many back injections and believe me this is nothing). Even the CT nurse was nice, and they were all very attentive. Anytime you have needles near your spine its scary, the people that work here make it not so, even pleasant. I hope no one has to see them, but if you do, I highly recommend seeing them. read more

First appointment, they call to cancel while I'm on the way. Second appointment, I go and wait an hour. They take payment upfront, techs show up late, and they "can't get the machine to work." Front desk ladies keep saying they are rebooting and it'll be 15. Then, "we have to order a part," and it'll be over an hour. You can go to our downtown location or reschedule. I had some X-rays done here last year and all went fine. Today, however, was a great deal different. I was there for an MRI. The appt was for 2:30, and they asked me to come 15 minutes early. I arrived at 2:10, having left work early. It became later and later. I finally asked at 2:50 what was taking so long and they intimated they'd brought someone back ealy as "he was in pain". Didn't tell or ask me. Then, at 3:05, they made a bug deal of telling me the tech was coming. The tech came, put an IV in, and I sat fir another 15 minutes. Ultimately, the MRI started at 3:30. Came here for my first (and hopefully last) MRI, and I'll never go anywhere else for imaging. The Breakdown: - Cynthia R. (at the front desk) was awesome! Very friendly and personable. Really fantastic! - Sang (the imaging tech) was unbelievably helpful and friendly. After feeding me into the tube, he talked to me with a hand on my shoulder. He noticed anxiety immediately and was able to offer a solution. Very accommodating and patient. I was told he's relatively new to RRR. I hope he stays forever. - MRI price was reasonable... well... I mean reasonable for an MRI I guess. There were MUCH higher prices quoted to me from various other places. - Ample parking (though my appt was at 6pm on a Monday) - Smelled wonderful and was decorated very nicely. Much nicer than the 38th street RRR. The Bottom Line: I can safely say I never ever want to have an MRI again. Terribly small horrible devil machines. HOWEVER, Cynthia R. and Sang did a FANTASTIC job of making my experience as nice as possible. If I ever have to get another MRI (or any other imaging), I will not hesitate to come to the River Ranch Radiology on James Casey. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. They are completely unreliable. If you get an appointment they will likely call you the same day and cancel. They have canceled on me three times in a row after I have taken days off, and they do it with such panache as well. The call will likely be 5 minutes before your appointment, or you will waste the time and effort to come into the office only to be told one of their machines is broken or some other cockamamie excuse. You're much better off taking your business elsewhere as they are wholeheartedly unreliable. read more

I had a great experience here. The worst part was that my appointment was during Austin rush hour. The receptionist was super nice and knowledgeable, but I don't remember her name. My deductible was - well... I had to pay out of pocket, but that's not this place's fault. The guy's name who did my MRI was Reuben/Ruben, I think. He guided me through the process in a way that made me feel totally comfortable, and he seemed to be, well, a really good person. Just plain nice. I'm 6'8" and 330 lbs, so I literally have to squeeze into most MRI machines. He was cool as a cucumber about making it work, and he made me feel relaxed and confident. It has to be bad when I write a review on yelp. Here is the progression of events: 1. called to schedule appointment; told them the procedure to be done - asked them to confirm appointment with me via email as I was mobile at the time 2. receptionist called me on Friday to confirm appointment on Tuesday; I confirmed and asked them to send me email confirmation of appointment. Receptionist stated that they tried, since it didn't go through, "why don't you just write it down" (I was driving at the time). 3. I called receptionist back (after making a stop) and asked them to resend the email appointment confirmation; she said she would check - on hold for 7 minutes, no response and no email 4. arrived at appointment 10 minutes early at a very dumpy location (38th location in medical area - looked like a flash back to 1991). The receptionist stated that for this procedure, I needed to be there 30 - 40 minutes early; NO ONE prior to this receptionist made those instructions clear 5. filled out paperwork and rescheduled for 2 days later at their Jollyville location 6. on the way to the appointment; 5 minutes before arrival, I receive a call from a receptionist that the MRI is down, doubt they can schedule to see me until 4 PM (my appointment was for 2:45) 7. arrive on site and they confirm that they cannot fit me in on the scheduled day and will need to reschedule I called St. David's and they got me in, receptionist confirmed that I needed to be there 45 minutes early, sent me an email confirming the appointment. Health care facilities / practice groups need to realize that customer service is just as important as technical expertise. DO NOT USE River Ranch Radiology - there are 5 other reputable practice groups in town that will give better customer service. read more

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Be prepared to be overcharged. South location was recommended for MRI imaging for my daughters leg and I was quoted $250 over the phone. When I arrived at our appointment we were told it was $450 and I refused. The staff was very courteous in the office. After waiting 35 minutes they finally agreed to take us with the $250 amount quoted. My insurance is amazing and my deductible had been met so I knew I really owed nothing. The insurance paid the full cost and Touchstone owes us a refund of $297. We have been calling and getting the runaround for over 3 months with no resolution for a refund. Have had multiple imaging and MRI's at ARA this year and not a single problem. The highest ever paid at ARA was $97 which was refunded within a week because we have met our deductible. read more

Rating two stars because their billing department does not have the proper systems to show I paid at the time of service. I paid $241 at the time of my CT scan. Three months later, I get an invoice for $241 and sorted it out with their customer service rep. A few weeks later I get a automated voicemail from their office asking me to call and the rep shows me still owing $241 but the notes show that $241 was posted in December. The staff was super nice when I was there for my CT scan but that does not make up for their billing department not able to handle basic accounting. If you do go here, make sure you do not double pay and your account is reconciled. read more

I was very nervous about the exam, but everyone there put my fears to rest, and the entire process was great. I only go to Touchstone for all my imaging. They are the nicest group of people, and gently guide you through the procedure. They even work with you on paying your bill. I do prefer their original name of River Ranch though. read more

I had an MRI done here in December, and had it pre approved through my insurance. I was told by both Aetna and RRR that the procedure would cost $575. When I got my bill it was for $1591!! When I called they told me RRR had been purchased by Touchstone Imaging and this was the new rate. Basically too bad. What a scam. read more

I got here for a 7:45 appointment and was told by the receptionist that all the techs were running late. I explicitly had called ahead to ask how long the appointment would take, as I have an important work meeting. The woman on the phone stated "it should take 15 minutes, you will be out of here by 8:05". Needless to say the techs did not show up until 8:20, over 30 minutes after my appointment time. I will never go here again, as this is my second time coming here and the same situation happened the first time I came as well. read more
