We even had a big storm blow through mid-project, and I had concerns about the big tarp covering the hole in the wall (where the fireplace was) blowing away from the high winds. I can't say enough wonderful things about this company, Carlos, Sonia and their team. Everyone has been fantastic to work with over the past couple years. I hired Aragon to fix a crown, tuck point the chimney and install new dampers. Carlos gave me his honest assessment about my fireplaces and how I should proceed with them. We bought a house with a chimney that hadn't been used in decades. The brick mortar was soft and crumbling, chimneys were dirty with signs of birds nesting, and the liners broken. The results were amazing! I contacted Aragon Chimney Services, along with several other companies. through yelp with a request for price quotes to power wash my deck. (Kudos to yelp for offering this service that allowed me to a dozen companies at once.) Aragon's price quote was reasonable, in the middle of the pack and taking into account the other reviews they seemed the best choice. Two Power Wash Technicians arrived on time and with commercial grade equipment. After seeing my deck they told me the estimate, based on two hours to complete the work, might have been a bit optimistic. This despite my having provided an accurate measurement and detailed photos beforehand. I told then to go head and do there best. For the next three plus hours they were out back working as hard as I could imagine. When they were finished my 10-year old deck looked very nearly new. When they presented me with a bill that was 50% higher than their estimate, to reflect the increased effort required, I paid it with no regrets. Aragon Chimney does a lot more than chimney sweeps. They rebuilt our chimney flue and fireboxes (from scratch). When we bought our DC rowhouse the fireboxes (2 of them) were covered with plywood so we knew that what was behind would not be good BUT we dreamed of having a fireplace so we made a decision to rebuild them. It is a big project so we took seriously and got about 5 quotes from all the best reviewed chimney services in the DC area and ended up going with Aragon Chimney because their prices were very competitive and their customer service was great. We've been doing a lot of work to the house and I've learned to go with my gut and my gut (and yelp) told me Aragon were honest people. I wasn't wrong. From the first appointment to give us a quote they were very nice at explaining what needed to be done, the limitations because of building code, our different options, etc. There was a lot of work to be done. We have two fireplaces, one would be wood burning and the second will eventually have a ventless gas insert. They rebuilt the two fireboxes from scratch, re-lined the chimney flue with an aluminum insert because our 120 year old house had too much damage to the original terracota flue and rebuilt the outside brick of the chimney. They exceeded our expectations on every aspect. They were on time every day of the 4 day project. The team they brought (Armando and young Carlos) were knowledgeable and respectful and easy to talk to. I have been looking at firebox designs for a long time so I had a lot of opinions into what it should look like and they were fantastic. They brought another person (Nelson) to do the marble tile work in one of the fireboxes and he was so good we already hired him to do another tiling project for us (he did amazing!). Aragon is my go-to. We live in a rental with a fireplace and burn about a quarter cord per winter, so regular inspections and sweeps are important. Aragon is quick, responsive, professional, and helpful. We first used them a few years ago and they spotted some significant, long-standing issues with our chimney that the previous company had missed (issues were supported by pictures) rendering it unsafe which we had repaired (through our rental company, so we had no say in vendors). We had them back again to do an inspection and sweep and they were on time (would have been early if I checked my phone), quick, and we're set for another year. I remember doing my research on costs vs. reviews when I first contacted them, and they were at the lower end of average for cost with excellent reviews. Also! They list their prices on the website which a great bit of transparency you don't always see. As a pandemic side note: they arrived in masks, didn't enter the property other than when necessary, and were careful to maintain social distance. The development we live in is 47 years old, and there are a lot of Georgetown courtyard style brick enclosed patios here. They were spot on matching the mortar on our wall. SPOT ON. They were currently running a special which included inspection and chimney sweep for $79. They were punctual and courteous. Immediately upon entering my home, Carlos put on booties on his shoes to protect my floors. He was knowledgeable and friendly. As a first time fireplace owner I found it especially helpful that he was able to teach me how to operate my dampers and provides some tips and guidelines for using the fireplace. A couple of weeks after they installed the chimney caps, I thought I heard a squirrel inside the chimney. I called them the next day and they came immediately. We highly recommend Aragon. We had a problem earlier in the winter (Dec/2018), where the bricks of the chimney were oozing water from the inside. They were quick to come by and give us a reasonable estimate, and were honest and practical.
