The problem is not our pilot or gas, it's the solenoid gas valve part that Chimney.com installed. (A master plumber has identified the issue 100%, but doesn't do gas repairs.) Since the whole device is controlled by remote, we know we did not break it--we never touched it ever, but the like-new fireplace did not come on this year. We were charged full price for the unit, which should have lasted for many years. Now Chimney.com is now wanting another $300 just two years later to repair. Paid a lot for a new unit. Chimney.com they says they are not responsible for quality of their products and will charge for labour to "evaluate" the issue. They act very folksy/ocal--until there's a problem, then they cut you loose. Be forewarned that you need to be lucky because they don't stand by their products sold. This feels scammy.

I cannot praise Osmin enough for fixing my wood burning fireplace! It was an old fireplace and the…read morehouse got very smoky for days every time I built a fire. Before I found Osmin, I had gotten 2-3 other companies to come, evaluate and give me estimates for the repair. But I just did not feel comfortable with their explanation of the problem and how they were going to fix it. And, Osmin was the only one who could guarantee he could fix my smoke problem. Evolution is a small business and Osmin is the one who evaluates your chimney, knows exactly what needs to be fixed, creates the quote and performs the work himself! I think that was the big difference between him and the big companies. Also, he was very honest and gave a good price. He did so much work: remove the old terracotta liners, install new metal liners for both my fireplace and furnace, built up the brick wall between the two shafts (there was a big hole which was the main reason the smoke was coming back into the house and which none of the other companies addressed), coated the interior with high temperature cement. Then he worked on the exterior: power washed the stained bricks, replaced some damaged bricks, replaced the chimney cap, and even matched the color for the exterior mortar. It took him 7-8 days to finish the work on my chimney. He only takes on one job at a time which I also appreciate. Lastly, the smoke problem was fixed! I was truly amazed. All the smoke went up the chimney and I barely smelled any smoke in the house. Even on days when there was a little breeze outside I could enjoy a beautiful wood fire in my fireplace. Since I had the crown and flue worked on not too long ago, he encouraged me to try and get the work redone under warranty as opposed to just taking my money and doing the bigger job. And glad I took his advice as that work was covered and repaired for free under warranty, so he just did the shoulder work. I really appreciate his advice and trustworthiness.
