In July, I brought him here for a full panel of testing after he developed a serious medical issue. I paid more than $1,000 for his testing and evaluation. He was then referred elsewhere for major spinal surgery, which thankfully went well, but the entire experience has been incredibly stressful and extremely expensive. After surgery, the specialist told me that my dog may have a urinary tract infection and recommended having him rechecked. Because Peninsula had evaluated him relatively recently, I called to ask whether they would be willing to simply recheck him without charging me another roughly $200. I explained that I had already spent thousands of dollars trying to get him healthy, including the money I had just paid this clinic, and was only asking whether they could show some flexibility and empathy. I first spoke with Maria. I found the conversation frustrating because she repeatedly put me on hold and kept returning to discuss pricing. I had to explain more than once that I understood what the visit would cost. I was not calling for a quote. I was asking whether, given everything my dog had just gone through and the amount I had already spent with them, someone could consider helping me with a simple recheck. Maria eventually put April on the phone. Unfortunately, that conversation was even more disappointing. Instead of focusing on the reason I was calling, April began emphasizing exactly when my dog had last been there and correcting me because I remembered it as being around 30 days ago when she said it had been closer to 45 days. When your dog has just undergone major spinal surgery and you have been dealing with appointments, specialists, recovery, medications, and thousands of dollars in veterinary bills, whether the prior appointment was 30 days ago or 45 days ago is not the most important thing on your mind. To me, focusing on that detail completely missed the point of the conversation. I was not asking Peninsula to perform surgery, take X-rays, conduct extensive diagnostics, or provide ongoing care for free. I was asking whether they could do a simple urinalysis/recheck for a dog they had recently evaluated after I had already paid them more than $1,000. I even made it clear that I was completely flexible with scheduling and was willing to come in whenever it was easiest for them. What I was looking for from both Maria and April was a small amount of empathy and an attempt to see whether anything could reasonably be done. Instead, the conversation felt argumentative, rigid, and almost entirely centered on pricing and policy. April repeatedly told me that they charge for everything and discussed sending me elsewhere or providing other resources rather than trying to find a solution. I completely understand that a veterinary office is a business and cannot provide every service for free. I never expected that. What disappointed me was the complete lack of flexibility or compassion toward an existing client who had just spent more than $1,000 with the practice and whose dog had undergone a major medical emergency shortly afterward. I have also had ongoing difficulty trying to reach Dr. Sophia regarding my dog's care. I have called multiple times, been told to send emails, and have not received the follow-up I expected. From a customer perspective, it feels unnecessarily difficult to actually get through to the veterinarian when you need guidance, while getting information about fees and policies seems immediate. What bothered me most about this experience was not even the approximately $200. It was how I was treated when I asked for help. I would have had a very different impression if someone had simply listened, acknowledged what my dog and I had been through, and genuinely tried to see if there was anything they could do. Instead, my experience felt transactional and dismissive. Based on my interactions with Maria and April, it felt like enforcing business processes and collecting another fee took priority over showing compassion to a client who was simply trying to take care of his dog. If you are considering bringing your pet here, I would think carefully about the kind of relationship you want with your veterinary provider, especially if your pet ends up facing a serious medical issue and you need ongoing support afterward. In my experience, I did not feel supported, heard, or valued as an existing client. After spending more than $1,000 here and then experiencing this level of rigidity over a simple recheck, I would not feel comfortable relying on Peninsula Avenue Veterinary Care again. I expected much more empathy from a veterinary practice. Sadly, that was not my experience.

Crystal Springs has provided decent care over the last few years. That said this place had some…read moremajor facility issue late last year / early this year and was closed for months. And just this week they now apparently have a sewage backup issue and are closed (not sure for how long). None of these issues seem like their fault and are very unfortunate but does not change the fact that Crystal Springs has been unable to provide care for my dog numerous times now when we needed them. I will not be able to rely on them for ongoing care. Also found out that both Dr. Tusler and Dr. Hoppe (two wonderful vets) are on leave. Sounds like a lot of chaos and disorganization. I will continue with Crystal Springs as a backup until I can find a new vet.

The vet tech (I'm so sorry I forgot your name but you had fantastic blush on!) was also kind and really seemed like she loved working there! They administered an antibiotic and rabies vaccine for my 15 year old kitty and were quick and as gentle as they could be. My cat isn't the most lovey dovey with strangers, but she liked them (showed it in her own way of course haha). The rate wasn't crazy either ($105 for wellness exam) which is reasonable in this area now. I will continue going here!

I absolutely feel like she provides options for care when available, and when she can, she will take a conservative approach and try to save her patients some money, which I appreciate. However, true emergencies are handled with the urgency I would expect. The four significant emergencies Dr. McKinney has overseen were handled outstandingly. While I was concerned for my animals, I was never concerned that they were not receiving the best care. I have sought vet care elsewhere because of the negligent service of the HMB Vet front office staff. I would consider returning because of her excellent repertoire with my dog, however.

He originally went in for acute back pain but has been back regularly for palliative care for his arthritis and kidney disease. It has made a tremendous difference in his comfort level. Scheduling is always easy - either online or at the front desk - and all the staff are always friendly. The room for acupuncture is very comfortable for both me and my dog, with air purifiers, a white noise machine, and a heat lamp if needed (which my dog loves). Dr. Magner is gentle and kind. She thoroughly explains her treatments and has recommended many ways for me to help my dog be more comfortable in his senior years. I am very grateful to have found South Hillsdale and Dr. Magner.

Michaela, our vet tech, was actually the one who answered the phone and reassured us that coming in was the right call. She was so friendly, nurturing, and gentle with Bentley, and immediately helped put us at ease. Bentley is usually very nervous at the vet, but he did great with Michaela right away, which says a lot. Dr. Kuang was thorough, kind, and welcoming. She took the time to carefully evaluate Bentley and explain everything to us in a way that felt thoughtful and reassuring. The whole visit felt seamless and easy, which is not something you typically expect from an emergency vet. My husband and I were completely exhausted, and they made us feel just as taken care of as Bentley. The office itself was incredibly clean and aesthetically pleasing, with a comfortable waiting area, cozy chairs, and even a great selection of snacks and drinks, such nice touch that most vets dont have. My rating is solely reflective of the other staff members I interacted with at Lenity. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I have raised all of these concerns with management, and I'm confident they will (or may have already) taken the appropriate steps to address these issues, including providing additional training on professionalism, effective communication, and appropriately navigating difficult situations. I rushed my cat Honey to Lenity as soon as I saw she wasn't being herself. I filled out paperwork and was greeted by Dr. Carlson after a somewhat reasonable wait time. After assessing Honey's current state, it was determined she had to be hospitalized overnight, and her health declined rapidly. Dr. Carlson and Dr. Hart were incredibly kind and guided me through one of the most painful decisions I will ever have to make. The rest of my review is for several staff members I interacted with at Lenity. Throughout multiple touchpoints, I felt a concerning lack of empathy, and felt as though the clinic only cared about being paid. My multi-thousand dollar bill was being broadcasted to the entire staff and waiting room as I went to visit my cat after being hospitalized overnight. The woman with glasses at the front desk spoke loudly and announced to everyone, including staff and folks in the waiting room, something along the lines of "Honey's owner is here to visit and paid her invoice- we can let her in now," and also announced that I paid through CareCredit. The way this was handled was incredibly inappropriate and humiliating- no worried pet owner should ever feel as though they are only permitted to visit their baby after handing over thousands of dollars. I also want to mention this was my 3rd invoice, totaling over $12,000 within a matter of 24 hours, so I naturally had questions regarding what exactly I was being charged for and if there was any wiggle room with all of the charges. The same woman repeated "wiggle room" in the most condescending tone when I asked- further demonstrating the blatant lack of empathy and basic customer service I'd expect to receive anywhere, especially in healthcare. Please stop reading this if euthanasia is a sensitive topic. I ultimately made the decision to put my cat down, due to her rapidly declining physical state, and out of immense love. She was not herself in her final moments since she was in a lot of pain, and inadvertently bit me as I held her. We let Dr. Carlson and staff know about the bite, and Dr. Carlson gave me instructions on how to clean the wound. Before I left the clinic, one of the front desk members talked to us about the bite. They then proceeded to share graphic, inhumane, and traumatic details regarding what would happen to my cat's body if I showed any symptoms of rabies. I later found out this was incorrect information, and they would still have to proceed with this process, regardless of whether I showed symptoms of rabies or not. While I understand the county's mandatory testing protocol, these graphic details should have NEVER been shared with me as I am deeply mourning the sudden loss of my world, and I am appalled by the insensitivity of how this was handled. The details that were shared with me will continue to haunt me, and countless hours of emotional distress could have been prevented. As mentioned above, each of the incidents outlined in this review has been brought to the attention of the office manager, Kara, who has handled every concern with professionalism, compassion, and grace. That said, I believe it would be a disservice to both current and future patients not to share my experience. My hope is that Lenity takes this feedback as an opportunity for reflection, improvement, and adequate staff training.
