Can't decide what's worse- the desserts or the customer service. Just had a terrible experience from start to finish. The cashier had a total attitude problem and actually rolled her eyes at me. I asked for thumbprint cookies and she said they are sold by the pound. I asked for a half pound and she sighed, rolled her eyes and slowly grabbed the cookies one by one. After six cookies she stopped and asked if it was enough. Seriously? That was barely a quarter pound. After dealing with more of her terrible customer service (if you hate your job, quit. Don't take it out on customers) the food itself was gross! My husband and I got a slice of nutella cheesecake and oreo cheesecake. After one bite each we were done. It tasted old. Like they had been in a fridge for a month and had a freezer burn taste. They looked beautiful but that was it. Hands down, nastiest cheesecakes. They went straight to the trash. I'm only giving them 1 star because its the lowest rating. Too bad 0 stars isn't an option. read more

The bread is mediocre at best. The service is terrible, especially if you are brown. I was looking for French bread for post thanksgiving sandwhiches. The woman at the register looked me up and down with a look of contempt. She stated that the bread I wanted was not available and then just stared at me kind of like she just didn't want me to be there. I've tried the bread and cakes when family members have purchased from here before, it's ok. The cakes are overly sweet, usually end up throwing away half of it. Will not be returning because of the blatant racism that is apparent at this business. They get one star because there are few bakeries available in this area so I guess they get to be mediocre and stay in business. Will not be returning. There are a few more bakeries in La Canada, I recommend exploring that area for better food and service! read more

Went there to buy a cake with my husband, he asked the employee if the cake was fresh and she said yes. We get home cut into it and it's dry and looks old. I went back to the store and asked for a refund for the old cake and they refused to give me a refund or even store credit towards something else. Stay away!!! No wonder they have terrible reviews! Walked out of their store with a valbreso cheese ($9.99) brought it home opened it and fed some to my 9 month old baby, when I went to put the lid on, I saw the that the can was covered with rust. Not trying to make a fuss I took it back and kindly asked for a new one (not for my money back btw). The manager told me it's ok to eat with rust (I don't care what you're ok with eating but I'm certainly not ok with eating rust, or feeding it to my children!!!!). she then went to the owner who came out with an attitude and said "we can't take this back we lose money, the company won't take this" I was completely floored. I left the store and told them they can keep their rusty product. As I was walking out (I kid you not) the owner yelled for me to take the cheese with me.... I have been coming here every week for the past 5 years. Spending at least $20 each trip. They are completely unorganized. They never ever have bread ready and make people wait ridiculous long times. I have left multiple times with stale bread (which I've never complained about). In addition, I've heard many horror stories from others of how they mess up large orders. I only return because it's conveniently located but after today's interaction I will never ever go back again. I will be reporting this to the health and safety department. read more

DISGUSTING PEOPLE!!! AVOID PURCHASING EGGS!!! My husband went in yesterday to get us our usual Bar Bari (Bread), and picked up some eggs for Easter. EGGS: So he got the kind that has 24 eggs in the purple egg fillers kind of packaging. I noticed the original plastic packaging had been removed and was saran wrapped by the staff. I thought this was really weird. Why would you remove the old packaging and saran wrap it yourself???? My husband asked them and they said all our eggs are like this. Whatever that means. Anyway, I wanted to use a few for breakfast. Mind you we never buy eggs or anything else from this location other than the bread. Due to this pandemic and to avoid sending my hubby to another store, I gave him the OK to buy eggs since he was already there. So the very first egg i cracked open was rotten. Now I know why the original packaging had been removed. They sold us old eggs!!!!! My house smelled soooo bad. I couldnt even get myself to check the rest. Who are you people!!! I explained why I was bringing it back, old, dry and not the same as usual and can taste the difference in the cream and the fruit on the tart is old as old can be. the lady refused to give my money back but took my box. Love this bakery! Their 3 leches cake is actually pretty amazing and affordable. It's not overwhelming like it is at other bakeries. We got my daughters 3rd birthday cake there, 3 leches, beautifully decorated with butterflies! We got nothing but compliments and everyone asked where it was from. But unfortunately I can't say the same about the customer service. The employees act like they hate their job and are constantly talking bad about their boss. Just the other day I was standing in line and I heard a employee telling another employees about how they don't get paid the full amount even though we do everything we are asked to do. I gave it a one star for the young girl working there. She was very sweet. The older lady was horrible. I bought 6 perashki with meat and six with potatoes. I came back in the car and none were with potatoes. I went back inside and there was no more with potatoes. She said can u just get something else. I said I don't want anything else. After their remodel the bakery just hasn't been the same. None of the pastries taste good, are often stale, and just isn't good quality. Even their barbari is hard as a rock and super thin. We take the extra drive to the other nearby bakeries to avoid wasting our money. I'm giving an extra star for the clean location and the occasional nazook that tastes good. read more

This little bakery I have passed many times on the road. We walked there today to pick up some breakfast. They have beautiful cakes and ethnic foods like pepper and eggplant sauces, teas and cheese. The cashew and almond pastries are nice, not too sweet. We tried potato and beef piroshki which were ok. They sell coffee beans, no sit down cups of coffee. Will be back again because they sell my favorite Sadaf cardamom tea. In Little India it was upwards of $8.00. Here $4.99. Yummy way to start the day. read more

(Ask for LARGE Matnakash / Barbari) Their Lahmajun is slightly smaller than usual, but at 85 cents each is about half the price of anywhere else, & much much tastier too (almost spicy) Their delicious & very fresh pastry is $6 a pound, while others in Glendale & Pasadena charge $10-12 for overnight stuff. They are very friendly always expect a rush in the mornings they have that fresh bread, Barbari all the Armenians get in the mornings. Good desserts! We got eclairs, cannolis, napoleons, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious and very well priced. Better than having to deal with Porto's lines and parking ordeal. Even though they have the same box colors.... My only complaint is that the Napoleons were not made with pastry cream but with whipped cream. Also the cannolis weren't traditional Italian because they didn't have chocolate chips in the whipped cream and they didn't have pistachio crumbs on the outside. But overall good. read more

My family comes here quite often for their barbari bread, it's always fresh and tasty. The bread is quality you can taste, and you don't get bloated after eating it. There customer service isn't always the best the workers sometimes have attitude problems, however the bread keeps us going back all the time. We usually have them double bag the bread because were particularly picky an sometimes the workers give attitude for it, but like I said our main concern is that the bread is amazing and fresh all the time, even when you buy it later in the day. read more

Very disappointed with the quality and customer service with this bakery. We placed a custom cake order in person in the beginning of the week, explaining the frosting and look for the cake. When we went to bring the cake for our gathering, the design, and flavors were completely different. However, we let that go, but my guests said the cake tasted old and dry. And yes , they we correct!! I couldn't let that go. These people gave us old DISGUSTING CAKE ! I'm pretty sure they grabbed the pre-made old cakes in the fridge and "decorated our custom cake".. when we called the store and physically took the remainder of the cake to the store the owner/ manager said it is our fault.. okay buddy!
