This cafe is a neighborhood favorite, known for its great coffee, fresh pastries, breads, desserts, and an impressively wide menu. The space itself has character, especially the charming outdoor seating area that makes it a nice spot to relax. Just my opinion, with a remodel, this cafe can draw in even more foot traffic, and take an already popular place to the next level.

    $45 for this!!!! Crazy!

I used to always order steak and eggs and comes in a nice big plate with plenty amount of meat. The last 4-5 times things has changed. See photo, that's $45 steak plate!!! I asked for full portion and they claim this is full portion.. look at the photo, 3 eggs and little meat for $45. A bird will not get full from this meat, this is a joke, I understand if this was half price but $45 for this?! I always try to come back and give it a chance I say maybe it's a mistake but always get disappointed. Increase your portion!

    Poached egg? Egg Muffin

I want to like it so much, but I keep having bad experiences here. I realize how hard it is to keep a biz like this going, and I appreciate them for being in the hood. And not every experience has been bad, but 50/50. Today I ordered an egg muffin. It is supposed to have a poached egg. See pic. I realize you think I might drip egg yolk all over my shirt, but I wanted a poached egg, not what I got. Also, the muffin/sandwich was smaller than my lady palm. Eek. And 2 slices of avo for that up charge? C'mon bdb, you have to be better. I believe in you, we need you, I will keep trying. The staff is always very nice and helpful there. Some pastries always deliver like the spicy caramel croissant, yum! If you're a coffee snob like me, don't get it here. Nice vibes inside and restrooms.

I've never been to Sunland, but I'm glad this little bakery got me there. Entering after 2p, I encountered an empty place save for one guy at a table. I think there were two girls behind the counter, one kind of greeted me then a guy comes out of nowhere to take my order. Since it was my first time, he was very helpful, letting me know breakfast was served all day, but I had a few other things in mind. From salads to pasta to sandwiches and everything in between, the selection was pretty vast. I decided to go with their grass fed beef sliders (no cheese), and in lieu of the roasted potatoes, I chose fries. For some reason, I also ordered a sunburst tea (this was unsweetened and black tea I believe) which was odd since I rarely order anything but sweet tea. This food was really good! Two sliders and a small portion of fries rounded this out, but it was a perfect size just to hold me over. The only thing was I wasn't offered the different sizes for the beverage, only the medium/large so I would have gone with the small had I known (since I kind of ordered this on the fly, I admit I wasn't sure of the sizes). I'm sure this place is packed on the weekends/breakfast time so I'm glad I showed up when I did. Big parking lot with plenty of spots, sharing with other businesses in the area. Service by the guy was great, and the food was worthy. I wouldn't mind visiting here again for either the same thing, or to try something new.

Their vegan tart is soooooo delicious I'm so going back when I'm in the area again to try other pastries as well. The selection is great and the service is very friendly as well. The coffee was okey, I've had better but I enjoyed the food alot.

I really had a good time. It's been a long time since I posted a review. The service was really good. They have outdoor seating. Really good food and great bakery goods. They have the most interesting chocolate puddingI've ever had in my life. Absolutely delicious worth making a special trip from lancaster. I will definitely come back. They have raw milk there very hard to find in large amounts to go. We also have some cheeses. They also have some honey too.

Amazing coffee place! Good vibes, art, great customer service, and the pastries are so delicious and comforting.

First timer. Had good reviews and a place to have a late lunch. But to our surprise, it was trivia night. Every Sunday 4pm-6pm during Theo happy hour Reno hosts trivia night. Good seating inside and out. They had a variety of wine, and canned craft brew from a local brewery. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. On top of that great selection of pastries!!! We had the BLT and a turkey and Swiss. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quick service and yes delicious fresh sandos. But what made it great was Reno, he is a great host and we quickly got into the trivia game. We were too late to join but still had fun guessing. We definitely will be back.

Stumbled upon The Back Door Bakery while I was in the area for the day, and I'm so glad I did. What a find! They have an amazing selection of fresh-baked breads, pastries, and savory bites, plus great coffee and tea. Everything is made in-house -- even their drink syrups -- all with clean, natural ingredients and nothing artificial. And modestly priced! I had a freshly brewed loose-leaf tea and it was perfect. The service was warm and genuinely welcoming -- I believe I was helped by the owner, and they went out of their way to make sure I felt at home. I only wish I lived closer -- it's a bit of a trek for me. But if I'm ever back in the area, this is absolutely where I'm coming again. Highly recommend!

First, their cafe de olla is absolutely delicious. This remains one of the only places where I genuinely enjoy ordering cafe de olla. Second, their food is incredible. They serve excellent portions, everything tastes fresh, and the food is just so good. I've had their taquitos and chilaquiles, and both were delicious. The only downside is that every time I've come, there has usually been a bit of a wait, especially because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. The inside is cute, but small, so we usually end up sitting outside. This is where their Monrovia location does have the advantage because it has much more space. Parking can also be tricky. Good luck finding a spot close enough where you don't have to walk far. We usually end up parking in the residential area around the corner. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. I got to taste my friend's huevos divorciados and the sauce was so delicious. My machaca was different than what I have had at other restaurants, a little on the dry side, but I enjoyed it. Loved the rice and beans it came with! Another highlight was the Cafe de Olla itself! I think I downed like 4 cups of it, it was so delicious. Service here was fantastic. Highly recommend!

When he got home and we opened the food, there were chunks of onions in the seafood linguine and scallions (which are onions) all over the cheesy garlic bread, which something I've never even seen on their garlic bread before, or any kind of garlic bread. On top of that, there was a hair in my husband's food! We called and spoke with Leslie, the alleged manager, and instead of apologizing, she argued that "the kitchen doesn't carry onions" and that "our chefs don't have hair," which honestly made the situation even more ridiculous. Meanwhile, we were sitting there hungry, irritated, and unable to eat the food we paid for. Her solution was basically "you can order something else", which after this experience, we absolutely would never do. She also said my husband would get a refund, but there was still no real apology or accountability, just excuses and defensiveness. Honestly, just really disappointed. If the kitchen was overwhelmed or overbooked, they could have simply said so. We would have respected the honesty far more than careless food prep and zero concern for an allergy issue.

Management is losing money because of her. We were looking to make this our go to Thai restaurant for this area. We were excited because we had read several 5 star reviews but there's no way they're not unpaid reviews. The place looked fairly clean for not being in an upscale area and the vibe looked authentically Thai. However they don't greet you. They don't respect you. We're taking our money to Lanna Thai kitchen in Reseda. Definitely worth the drive and the try if you're ever in the area. They treat us with respect and dignity there.
