Waited exactly 20 minutes for two mediocre hot mochas. I've lived here since before this cafe was established and it has never not been at the very least a somewhat disappointing visit. I always wanted to keep giving them a chance because it's not like we have a lot of similar options locally, but this was the last straw for me. The quality doesn't even come close to justifying the price. I could get teenagers to whip me up any crazy drink within minutes at Starbucks, but the simplest order here requires that I've got nothing else going on in my day. I've never been to Sunland, but I'm glad this little bakery got me there. Entering after 2p, I encountered an empty place save for one guy at a table. I think there were two girls behind the counter, one kind of greeted me then a guy comes out of nowhere to take my order. Since it was my first time, he was very helpful, letting me know breakfast was served all day, but I had a few other things in mind. From salads to pasta to sandwiches and everything in between, the selection was pretty vast. I decided to go with their grass fed beef sliders (no cheese), and in lieu of the roasted potatoes, I chose fries. For some reason, I also ordered a sunburst tea (this was unsweetened and black tea I believe) which was odd since I rarely order anything but sweet tea. This food was really good! Two sliders and a small portion of fries rounded this out, but it was a perfect size just to hold me over. The only thing was I wasn't offered the different sizes for the beverage, only the medium/large so I would have gone with the small had I known (since I kind of ordered this on the fly, I admit I wasn't sure of the sizes). I'm sure this place is packed on the weekends/breakfast time so I'm glad I showed up when I did. Big parking lot with plenty of spots, sharing with other businesses in the area. First timer. Had good reviews and a place to have a late lunch. But to our surprise, it was trivia night. Every Sunday 4pm-6pm during Theo happy hour Reno hosts trivia night. Good seating inside and out. They had a variety of wine, and canned craft brew from a local brewery. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. On top of that great selection of pastries!!! We had the BLT and a turkey and Swiss. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quick service and yes delicious fresh sandos. What a disappointment and total embarrassment for whoever owns this restaurant. My son and I just ate there this morning and just had the worst $45 breakfast we've had in a long time. If I we had gone down the street to Everest, we could have got twice the food for half the cost. On top of an extremely overpriced omelette that they charge you an additional cost for any item added to it, they chare $7 for a small plastic water cup of lemon water that they call Fresh squeeze lemonade. Their three egg omelette (my guess from tiny quail eggs) that cost me $20 by the time I had two items added to it, took all of 5 bites to eat, as was the burnt hash browns and the toast that was supposed to be sourdough but was cheap white bread and wasn't brown in the least, and hardly warm at all. My son's breakfast burrito was something I could have got at 7-Eleven with more stuff inside. I guess that's the trends nowadays raising their food to rediculous prices and giving smaller portions. I've eaten in every restaurant up and down Foothill Blvd all the way from Burbank to Pasadena for almost 30 years now and I was really looking forward to trying this place, and even recommending it like so many other people have, but I'm guessing those recommendations came from family members or people that work there. I really don't like bad-mouthing restaurants I love to go out to breakfast with my son on Sunday and would really have enjoyed find a new place that (at least) gives you your money's worth, but sadly this wasn't the case here. There were so many delicious choices and we will definitely have to go back and try more. I'm also interested in trying some of their prepared meals. I'm not super confrontational when it comes to things like this even though I had every right to ask for cleaner cups. So, I just dealt with it and the tea and water was alright. After finishing both, I decided to order a turkey club sandwich to go since I was running on an empty stomach. My food was made quickly and delivered to my table with a smile. When I arrived home to eat and took my first bite, I realized the bread was pretty dry. While the sandwich taste overall was fine, the bread wasn't pleasant and was hard to bite honestly. If I wasn't super hungry I would've immediately lost my appetite. I kinda had high hopes for this place but good service can only go so far. HOWEVER everything there is homemade, even their ketchup, which I respect. They really put dedication and love on the things they bake and serve, that's for sure. And the cookies...I have to say that they were pretty fire. Simple chocolate chip cookies that were so chewy but crunchy at the same time. High quality chocolate and just perfect amount of sugar.
