Fried Banana w/ Coconut Ice Cream
    Amanda H.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! This was one of my favorite restaurants in the U-district Area and it's unfortunate that it was a bit of a treck from campus and my apartment. Araya's Place is a vegan Thai restaurant and bar that is super underrated in my opinion. I'm not vegan, but if all places could make vegan food as flavorful, I think I could convert. My go-to order here is the Araya's Noodle Soup and the Thai Iced Tea with Coconut Milk. YUM! Unfortunately, I'm not located in the U-district anymore, but if I was, I'd eat here in a heart-beat. The Araya's Noodle Soup had the perfect amount of tartness and brothy-ness. My favorite part was that they gave tons of veggies and soup so it kept me full as a hungry college student. Sometimes, I'd finish my rice noodles and veggies, but have some of the Tom Yum soup left, so I'd cook up my own noodles at home to maximize the meal, and it was still bomb. The thai iced tea with coconut milk was on a different level. The coconut milk was so creamy that it felt like vanilla ice cream. I'm sure I could make this at home if I really wanted to, but Araya's Place does it so right! On other occasions, I've come here for their daily lunch special (11:30am - 3pm), and it's a steal. Both of their Lunch Sets are solid! It comes with so much food that you're bound to get full and get a healthy meal. Each set comes with a choice of white or brown rice, a choice of stir fry or the curry of the day, 2 pieces of crispy egg rolls, house salad, and house dessert(black sticky rice with coconut milk). It comes in a big portion for just $17.50. It would always last me about 1.5 meals. My only small comment is that the egg rolls weren't my personal favorite, but that may just be a personal preference since I tend to prefer less meat-filled egg rolls. That said, they were still decent. I've also tried their other dishes like their Panang Curry, Red Curry, Pumpkin Curry, Rad Na, Yom Yum Soup, and Pineapple Fried Rice, all of which are flavorful and BOMB! You also can't go wrong with their desserts. The Fried Banana with Coconut Milk Ice Cream, Black Sticky Rice, and Mango Sticky Rice are all amazing! I can't wait for my next trip to Seattle so I can share this delight with my friends.

Expensive- so I guess take that into consideration Good portions and good taste Nice ambiance, a little understaffed so it took a while to get anyone's attention.

This is my go to for vegan food in Seattle! I've been here so many times that I can't keep track of all the dishes I've tried. Here are my top 3 dishes though: Phad See Iew: I like how they use chinese broccoli. Sometimes, the dish can be a bit on the salty/saucy side but it's still delicious! They ALWAYS get the texture of the noodles right, though which is so rare because I've had some mushy Phad See Iews in my day. Panang Curry: Rice is additional price but that's my only critique. The flavor is absolutely amazing! Tom Yum Fried Rice: It's sour, it's sweet, it's salty. The fried rice encapsulates the flavor of Tom Yum Soup.

Visiting from NYC where I'm kinda spoiled with fully vegan restaurants, so here it was a little more challenging. I ventured out a bit distance wise to come here and I'm glad I did. The mixed garden soup was so flavorful, the broth was good till the last drop. I also got the fresh rolls and they were so dang tasty. Would totally come back if I'm here again and would recommend anyone to come here and support their establishment! Also the waitress was so sweet ( :

I'll start with the good: the mango sticky rice was one of the best I've ever had at a Thai restaurant. The magi actually initially looked kinda dry to me, but after taking one bite, it turned out to be deceptively sweet and juicy, and it was perfect. The Thai fried rice was also a standout in terms of taste. I do think the pad see ew and the sauce the fresh rolls came with were far too sweet -- I'd say the pad see ew sauce was almost sweeter than the dessert mango sticky rice. The fresh roll peanut sauce was also not quite what I expected, in that it was more like a sweet sauce with ground peanuts in it, rather than a peanut sauce (not necessarily bad, but not my personal preference). The food was also very pricey.

I've tried Araya's Place in Bellevue location a few years back and decided to come back since one of our friends is vegetarian. Note that, it's my first time checking out this location in University District. Food: We tried the tofu larb, Tom Kha, and Araya's portobello. The tofu larb impressed with its flavorful tofu mix and spicy chili sauce. However, the Tom Kha lacked the creamy coconut milk broth, tasting more sour than expected. Araya's portobello was a delicious highlight of the meal for us! Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a clean and inviting atmosphere with comfortable seating. Customer Service: We were seated promptly on a Sunday evening and appreciated the server's assistance in answering our menu questions. Overall, a pleasant dining experience with room for improvement in certain dishes.

Recently had a chance to enjoy Araya's Place while in Seattle and it was some of the best Thai food I've had in a while. Whereas "Kati's Vegan Thai" felt more of a modern, fusion take on Thai, Araya brings it back closer to home and helps answer people's curiosity of "how can you make Thai food vegan?" Turns out it's very easy! My friends and I had a blast trying out many of their dishes from their Fresh Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Lemongrass Stir-Fry, and two different Curries (one pumpkin based and one with avocado). Everything we tried was rich in flavor and was perfect for a family style meal. Dishes came out quickly so we were never hungry for long. The portion sizes here are quite generous! In a quickly inflated economy, I appreciate restaurants that feel like you're really getting your hard earned moneys worth on delicious food. Only thing I wish they'd do is include rice with their curries instead of having it be a separate side order, but it's not a huge deal. Would absolutely come back to Araya again in the future.

I haven't been here in so long, but I used to be obsessed, and it was one of my first introductions to vegan food. I came by for a quick lunch catchup with friends and the food was still quite satisfying. We got the lunch deal which was a huge amount of food and variety (dessert included!) so we got tasty leftovers. Staff was very sweet too. The lunch curry option changes daily but you can make some choices with customization, and the spring rolls were super hot and crispy. Glad I came back after all this time :)

It is now 2026. Does Araya's Place do a buffet now?

    Do they serve buffet now?

I was there during lunch hour on Monday 6/20 and they were not doing the lunch buffet. :(

What is the parking situation? Looking for a Thai restaurant to meet some folks on Saturday night. We live out of town. Hoping parking is available.

Parking anywhere else on the ave is bad. But past 50th, where Araya's place is, there is a lot more parking space. It's not a guarantee but I would say even if it's really bad you only circle around a couple times before finding one.

It ended up being so tasty that I came here twice within a few days. The first visit, I got veggie tempura appetizer and chirashi rice bowl. A bit on the pricier side, I still wanted to give it a try. The veggie tempura are actually not separate pieces of vegetables in tempura, but kakiage (shredded veggies fried together) - still pretty good though. The chirashi rice bowl was fantastic - beautiful presentation as the fish came on the side, pretty fresh, and I appreciated the small details, like the wasabi stem inside the scallop and the shiso leaf/sprouts that accompanied the dish. The service was fantastic as well, considering I had a table for one during lunch hour. My second visit I was on the go, so I got the Classic sushi burrito, which again was maybe a little pricier than I would like, but it was worth it. Rice, fish/poke, crab mix, cucumber, avocado - it all mixed nicely wrapped within the rice paper outside, and was convenient to eat for takeout. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're around the area and feel like treating yourself to more than a soup/salad/sandwich...

I am so grateful for my experience at Life On Mars. It turned out to be the highlight of a…read moretumultuous Seattle trip and I look back on it fondly. We came here mostly for one thing: I absolutely could not wait for their gluten-free vegan chick'n pot pie. A pie i'd been waiting months to try. A pie unlike any other pie. A pie that I still think about to this day. We walked straight into a Cardi B drag show. And by "walked into" I mean we opened the door and Hot Pink Shade sashayed right in front of us. It was exactly the kind of welcome we love. It was also the first green flag in a sea of green flags at Life On Mars. I could barely sit still as I waited to order my GF/VG pot pie. We got the drinks outta the way (a peach hard cider for me and a fancy-schmancy cocktail for the lady). I was positively GIDDY when Anna came to take our order and I blurted out chick'n pot pie excitedly. I nearly died when she said they didn't have any. Normally it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but I was from out of town and had literally been craving this damn pie for months! And I lied, I didn't nearly die but I DID nearly cry and that's almost as bad. Even the bestie lamented about what a let down this was. Anna. Dear, sweet Anna. We must have looked really hard up because this sweet baby angel offered to ask the cooks if they could whip one up special just for me. Let me tell you why this is a big deal: For one, she didn't need to do that. That's going above and beyond, and she was such a graceful little buttercup when she did it. Second, making a gluten free biscuit is a finicky, precise, detailed process. It sucks, honestly, and I don't blame them for not having them every day. I nearly cried when she came back and told us the cooks said YES. And this time i'm not lying. It was beyond the type of customer service i'm used to. It was.... humane. It was...empathetic. It was...totally first world problems but it meant so much to me! Especially since Anna said it had been a DAY and she was at her wits end. For her to have a rough day and still have the grace and compassion to make my stupid GF/VG chick'n pot pie dreams come true.....well, yeah, it made me a bit teary eyed. The pot pie was delicious, as expected. It was nostalgic and comforting, like a big hug in a bowl. The flavors were rich and deep, the biscuit soft and flaky; it was one of the most delicious things i've tasted on my GF/VEG journey. Between the food, the drinks, the customer service and the drag show......this was five stars all around. No doubt. I don't see the GF chick'n pot pie on their menu anymore. Maybe it's a seasonal thing? I hope it comes back, i'll be checking. And when it pops up again, so will I. Thank you, Anna. Thank you to the cooks on 2/19/26. Thank you to Hot Pink Shade, ISIS and King Leo Mane. Just, thank you.

My daughter and I shared the Hojicha Mochi Parfait, while my son ordered the Hojicha Float with mochi. The parfait had a rich, authentic hojicha flavor and was generously layered with chewy mochi, crunchy cereal flakes, and creamy soft serve, giving it a wonderful mix of textures. The float was equally enjoyable, with a bold roasted hojicha flavor that wasn't overly sweet, and the mochi was a fun addition. The quality of the desserts was excellent, and while the prices are on the higher side, they reflect the quality of the ingredients and presentation. If you're a fan of matcha or hojicha, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
