    Naan with paneer
    Karla H.

My nephew brought us here during our recent visit to Seattle and it was phenomenal! I have tried some Indian food in Houston, TX before and typically I only eat the curries & breads. I tried the coconut curry with Paneer & the Naan with Paneer & they were both delicious! My mom tried the chicken soup (forgot the name but it begins with an M) and she loved it. They gave us mini samosas when we arrived for free and a delicious, I mean delicious cheese cake with mango purées at the end, for free! It was amazing!!! I highly recommend it and the space is also very nice and inviting. The only thing I didn't like was the iced tea but I call that a win...

My husband and I went to taste of India on a rainy Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. The inside was warm and cozy, and our servers were prompt and attentive. The currys were piping hot and delicious. I've struggled to find great butter masala in Seattle, and taste of India's hit the mark! Not pictured, but their naans are huge. My husband and I each ordered naan, and the amount of rice, curry, and naan was the perfect amount for a full serving of leftovers. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary samosa appetizers and chocolate torte dessert. Ultimately this place is fantastic and we look forward to coming back- would love to come on a summer evening and sit outside on their patio.

Taste of India may be the largest Indian restaurant in Seattle. They must be able to fit 100 people in here between the inside and outside. They also have a to-go counter in both areas. Between this, and what seemed like 20 wait staff running around and attending to customers, they have the service part of the business figured out. By looking at the reviews here, it seems like the complimentary desert is their thing - we must not be quite as special as we thought we were! Anyways, it's a really nice touch, people never forget those things. Let's start by talking about that naan. You gotta have it when you're going anywhere to get Indian food. And I was blown away by the pure enormity of it here. This thing was bigger than my head! Do not let the largesse of this bread distract you though, it is fluffy and fantastic (F&F). I also appreciate that it's so very clearly homemade, because it's not rolled out that well, there are some sides that are thicker than others. That's not a knock on the product, I just imagine it's hard to churn out tons of these every day. The mango curry tastes great here, and comes with a side of rice, which I feel like isn't as common these days. It does feel like there are very few pieces of chicken in the actual curry though, that would be my main drawback to ordering it again. It seems like this was the same for the other curries that were ordered at my table. Taste of India is a fun place to go get some dinner, and I've heard that they do fantastic takeout as well. Go support them, and you might just get a free piece of cake!

Service was pretty good and the food was solid overall. The outdoor seating with all the lights is what really makes this place special; it's such a nice vibe. The shahi korma paneer was delicious, and the garlic naan was great too. The butter chicken was a bit basic, but my vegetarian friend really enjoyed her chana masala. The mango lassi was also very good. Parking can be tricky since there's a small lot, but street parking is usually easier. Prices are fairly reasonable for the quality. Overall, I'd definitely come back again.

I'm not an expert when it comes to Indian food. I really wish every restaurant came with a picture menu so I could see what my food would look like. Sitting at the table and googling each dish somehow reminds me of exam days back in middle school--such a PTSD experience. I came here on a mid-August night, and sitting outdoors was perfect. The staff were friendly and nice. I had the fish vindaloo. It tasted alright to me-- a bit sour and a bit pungent, kind of like a yellow curry with extra vinegar and chili. Not my favorite. The butter masala was probably more my type: creamier, tomato-y, and sweeter. I think I'll stick with that from now on. The garlic naan was delicious, a little burnt this time, but not a big deal. The mango lassi can never go wrong--rich and creamy. The cheesecake is dense and rich, and the mango sauce really helps balance out the richness. The green sauce that came with the complimentary samosa was unbelievably delicious, with a very refreshing taste I'd never had before!

I felt welcome and attended to immediately upon arrival. The portions looked small however three dishes were plenty for four people. We even had some leftovers. The naan was gigantic and fluffy and crispy and perfect. Some of the best I've ever had. A single order could be enough for two or three people! The food came out fast and was very good. What really stood out to me is that it wasn't super sweet or sugary. It had depth, nuance, and sophistication. I felt like I had been invited to a family meal. I recommend coming here. Tons of seating. Fast service. Good prices!

We recently ordered takeout from Taste of India and enjoyed a solid meal. We tried the Chicken Tikka, Lamb Boti Kabab, Plain Naan, Curry Fish, and Palak Masala (Saag). Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The quality and portion sizes were good, and all main dishes came with rice. The restaurant itself looked quite busy when we picked up our order, with both comfortable indoor and outdoor seating options available. We'd consider coming back for dine-in next time to experience the full ambiance!

I was drawn to this restaurant due to all the glowing reviews, but I thought the food was just average. We had the curry chicken, chicken vindaloo and naan. There was a complimentary small samosa and slice of chocolate cake which was a nice surprise though both seemed frozen rather than homemade. I didn't find the flavors of the dishes we ordered complex or that tasty. The prices seemed high for slightly run down dining room. On the plus side, there are many staff and they are attentive and efficient. Also, portions are generous.

This is an amazing restaurant! One of my favorites so far for Indian food. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive. Our food was cooked perfectly and there was lots of it. The restaurant was clean and loved the decorations on the walls. The shrimp dish was delicious.

I don't eat Indian food too often, but hands down this is the best I've ever had! The tikka masala is always my go-to, and wow did this blow me away. The curry was rich & flavorful, the meat was tender, and the spice level was just right for me. Their garlic naan was also to die for, I could honestly just be happy with that and the curry for a whole meal. They gave complimentary samosas, which were also good. We tried their hot chai, which also hit the spot so well. Everything was amazing, and the service was top notch. They gave us a complimentary slice of cheesecake at the end to top off the night. Even though we were full, we had to indulge, this dessert was also to die for. This is a must try, and I'll definitely be back on my next trip here!

Can I request a custom cake for a birthday celebration?

Indian restaurants generally don't serve cake

    Do you have catering service?

We are planning to celebrate a birthday there. Would you allow us to bring in an outside cake?

Do they have a lunch buffet?

No, they don't have lunch buffet

Are dogs allowed on the outdoor patio?

    Absolutely

Hey just wanted to know if the meat here is halal or not?

All lamb is halal, curry's can be made with halal chicken

Are there gluten free options here?

Yes, but you will need to ask on a dish-by-dish basis. Most entrees won't have wheat but like anywhere else, you'll want to be certain. Stay away from Naan.

Hi, does any of the food have soy in it? I'm allergic to soy.

If you have a serious food allergy I would call the restaurant instead of relying on people who have merely eaten there. Just to be safe.

    Do they have a buffet?

No, and thank goodness for that. Buffets are gross.

    Is there heated outdoor seating?

Last when I went few weeks ago, there was heated outdoor seating..

Do you offer brown or red rice? Jeffry

Hello we do have brown rice.

    Is the meat halal?

Yes, it says it's been recently revised to 100% halal

Which days do they have lunch buffet?

They don't do buffets here. Just order from a menu. Food is fantastic though!

Katsu is one of the finest fried items known to humankind, and even though eating fried food makes me feel like I've been punched in the stomach recently, I was willing to take a rocket to the gut for some stellar katsu and fries. Daruma has the set up of a no-frills establishment that knows they're going to be churning out orders. The kiosk order system isn't that common in the US because it seems ridiculously unfriendly, but Japan is about efficiency with a focus on the food. They only had two people working here so it was slow, but absolutely worth it. The spicy chicken katsu was incredible. Everything that was on this sandwich had a reason for being there. The cutlet itself was incredibly juicy and crispy. The right amount of sauce was applied so as to not make the sandwich itself soggy (critical on a sandwich with fried elements), and then the cabbage on top gives it a bit of freshness. I'm pretty sure the bread was fine, but that isn't why we're here. It's a vessel for fried food. The fries seem to need a bit of work. I think they may have gotten soggy because they came in a to-go box, but the seasoning was fantastic. They also come with whatever sauce you want, and there is a plethora to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed the spicy mayo, which I then added to the katsu sando as well. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Fremont area.

This particular location was pretty empty at 1:30pm, though it was a rainy Tuesday. The interior is clean and modern. Parking is hard to come by in the Fremont area, but we were able to find parking near the Fremont Troll. We ordered the Jalapeño Business Warm Bowl and the El Sombrero Salad with chicken. Jalapeño Business (4/5): I liked how unique this bowl was. The use of raw chopped jalapeños gives it a fiery kick, while the Tilllamook white cheddar adds a nutty and salty creaminess with a Pacific Northwest flair. The pickled red onions add the acidity, while the black beans, chicken, and jasmine rice provide the body to make this bowl quite filling. The warm chipotle sauce binds it all together with a smoky chipotle flavor -- but in the menu photos the sauce is a small drizzle over the top, while in my bowl the sauce was doused and inundated everywhere like a biblical flood of chipotle sauce. The bowl was still good, but the photos don't match what you get. El Sombrero Salad with chicken (3/5): This one is actually vegetarian so we added chicken for some protein. This one was pretty mid -- the roasted corn and raw chopped jalapeños were nice touches but the romaine didn't seem like the freshest, and the leaves were too cold like straight out the fridge. Overall, I think Evergreens is a decent choice for salads but Sweetgreen is still my gold standard.

They have so much outdoor seating, on both sides of the cafe, which I really like. Way more than downtown. Food came out super quick too. My go to order has always been the Mr Breakfast plate, it's super hearty and full of great breakfast foods. However, the price has increased exponentially and quality has definitely gone down. I used to pay around $15 for this plate and it included bacon and now it's $17 + an extra $4 to add 2 pieces of bacon. (The bacon is totally worth it though). The potatoes recipe need to be completely refined, or they need to offer a substitution option for them. They are overly soft and they don't have nearly enough seasoning. That was the only thing that remained on my plate when I was done! and the soft boiled egg tasted a little off to me, like it had been sitting for a bit long.
