Love the concept. VEGAN THAI! It's been amazing just about every time I've been. I've had one bad run-in with the Tofu Orange. Maybe just not what I was expecting but I could barely touch it. Too sweet and syrupy. Everything else has been so good that I eat it all and am overfull. For the most part I have been very happy with coming in to order and take out. Today I called in my order for the first time and was very unhappy with the service over the phone. I ordered the lunch special substituting the tofu for mushrooms like I always do when I come in to order. The lady that I spoke with wanted to charge me extra for the substitute of mushrooms and did not want to add the mushrooms into the food. This has never been an issue before. The lady that I spoke with wanted to put the mushrooms on the side like it was an extra side order. I repeatedly told her I am a customer that usually always comes in and orders this has never been an issue. She was not trying to fix the issue. I became flustered and canceled my order. I told the lady that I was speaking to "I will no longer be a customer or support your restaurant." It doesn't make since not have the same level of customer service on the phone as you would in person. I was very happy with araya's place. This restaurant went from a five star to a no star restaurant with the customer service I received. To bad because I am a vegan and places to eat out are limited. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but this food was so bad I had to. We ordered delivery through amazon restaurants. We got pad Thai and pad see ew. This has to be the worst Thai food I've ever had. The pad Thai noodles were in a clump. Dry and stuck together in a block. No flavor at all. the pad see ew was overly salty and had way too much garlic. Honestly, I went in with the opinion that it would probably taste like a slight comparison to "normal" thai. Afterall, doesn't fish sauce create that unique flavor? I eat meat, but my travel companions didn't. The food was oustanding! We shared Tom Yum soup, Tofu Larb, pot stickers, fresh rolls and finished with jasmine cake. I will order all except the pot stickers next time I visit Seattle. Eveything was scrumptious! The service was attentive also. I am not a vegetarian let alone a vegan, but I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. We were a large group so we opted for the buffet. This was great and allowed me to sample a number of dishes, all of which were great. Black rice pudding, yellow curry, two different noodles and great soup. I know I am missing something. The atmosphere was very good but the service was not good at all. We tried out pineapple fried rice and cashew emerald curry. Pineapple fried rice was too sweet and greasy. Cashew curry was decent not tat good. I am astonished how this place have all 4 star reviews. I would never recommend this place. read more

It was unplanned visit to the locality, the restaurant was right in front of me and I was starving so we walked into this vegetarian Thai restaurant. There was a waitress who was attending anyone who walked in and also serving people at the table. All she asked was how many? We were then seated at a table and when enquired were also told that the food can be ordered from the menu if we weren't up for a buffet. Since there was no patience for us to look at the menu we screamed buffet. There were spring rolls,soup, phad Thai, fried rice, stir fried vegetables , green curry, Brown rice and salads for main course. Dessert was black sticky rice and coconut milk , also they had some cut fruits. It all tasted good and we devoured the brown rice and the green Curry. The dessert was my favorite. All of that worked out well considering it wasn't a planned visit. Then why 4 stars? The place could be cleaner, the cutlery could be better, the food could be refilled faster ( waited for rice and dessert to be refilled for a while). Otherwise it all went well. Eat all that you want, pay and walk away. They were pretty full and people seem to be enjoying their meals. I didn't get to click pics even though I tried as there was someone at the counter at all times and I didn't want to intrude or be rude. There is not enough wonderful things to say about Araya's! Everything they make is so full of flavor. Their Tom Kha and Curries are perfect! I live in Tacoma, but I WILL drive to Seattle to get some Araya's. My husband and I both love the atmosphere, décor, service, and FOOD:). I ate here a number of times before I realized it's completely vegan. The dinner options are expensive, so I only do dinner here every once in a while, but if you come for the M-F lunch buffet, it's more than worth it. Everything from soup to fried rolls to phad thai to curry. It's ALL delicious. I've never had a meal I didn't like from them and think I've tried everything on the menu by now. Everything about this place was great! The food was fresh and extremely flavorful with a very extensive menu. There is something there for everyone. The decorations were lovely and the atmosphere was pleasant. Our servers greeted us with big smiles and were very friendly. The aloe juice was delicious and refreshing. We had the red curry and the drunken mushroom. The red curry was delicious flavorful and cooked to perfection. Even the veggies and tofu were delicious! The drunken mushroom had large slices of meaty Portobello mushrooms and tender wide rice noodles. Both were exceptional. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and fresh. The portions were so large we didn't have room for dessert which we will try another time. In addition to the great food, it is an added bonus that it is completely vegan. They also have brochures about helping animals and stopping factory farming, something which restaurants should definitely be addressing. Overall this place is a great mix of friendly service, great food/flavors and great values combined. We will definitely be back to try new things from the extensive and diverse menu. read more

Delicious and a nice veggie option! Thai Thom was closed, and this place was a great alternative to that legendary place. Supposedly the restaurant recently moved and renovated, and the decor and ambience were nice! My friend and I went for dinner and the food was impressive and delicious. The Tom Kah soup was beautifully served in a pot with a small, blue flame emitting from the center (of the dish). The avocado curry was AMAZING! We ordered at "5-spicy" and it was perfect. The How Mok curry was less impressive. I ordered it at "5-spicy" and it was not spicy enough. I should have ordered more spice, and Araya's allows a customer to add up to "10-spicy". Oh well. The dish is served with soft tofu, which was the other disappointing part of the dish. I wish it were served with fried tofu instead. The service was fine. Our first waiter was great, and when his shift ended, a nice waitress took his place. She was not as knowledgable, but still kind. read more

I am a vegetarian and i also love Thai food. The fact that i am a vegetarian really reduces the choices for me and my family to go to a good vegetarian food joint. Araya's is just an amazing place for vegan Thai food. There is nothing that i can think of as bad here. it is an extraordinary value for money place. Everything I tasted was super delicious, from the salads, to the egg rolls, to the curries, to the noodle dish and the sweet black sticky rice with coconut cream. I was in flavor heaven. My fiancé and I had the lunch buffet awhile ago, and it was pretty good. As vegetarians, we liked not having to worry about fish sauce, etc. We got takeout last weekend and tried their regular menu...and were disappointed. My pad see ew was weirdly sweet, not savory and garlicky like I was expecting. He got the orange tofu because the description sounded delicious. He said the sauce was ok, but the veggies had obviously been steamed separately and left out for too long. They were cold and partially raw. His dish also had the odd addition of pineapple - not part of the description. Oh, and there were huge slices of orange (peel included) tossed in with the veggies - not appetizing. The most disappointing item was the Thai tofu appetizer, which is described as coming with crushed peanuts. We opened the box and saw 6 sad pieces of tofu with some mediocre sauce...again, not good and not worth the price at all. And no peanuts in sight. It was pretty obvious that they just use the same tofu chunks that they use in all their other dishes. Overall, it was a below average and overpriced dinner. We *might* be back for the lunch buffet one day, but we won't be ordering dinner again. read more

Iced tea with coconut milk is great too - easy to get stuffed here!
