Holy moly! This place is absolutely fantastic. Every dish we got was perfectly cooked and the flavors were perfectly balanced. We had the pad kee mao, the crying tiger, and the papaya salad. The spice level was exactly right. The veggie meat they use is absolutely delicious and super realistic. I cannot wait until I come back to try more of their menu. Do not hesitate. This is the best Thai place and I went to Thailand earlier this year so my standards are quite high. The service was also great. Very friendly and attentive. Been to 45th thai a few times and each time it borders on eh to decent. My latest visit was the worst yet. My friend and I decided to order ahead for pick up and the ball was dropped so hard on our food I couldn't believe how bad poor it was compared to prior visits. My friend got the Pad See Ew and it was completely lacking in flavor. We asked for not spicy, but it didn't even taste like it was cooked in anything. Even Soy sauce couldn't save it. I got a level 2 spiced Pad Kee Mao or as I like to call Drunken Noodle. It was perhaps the worst I've ever had. There were hardly any noodles at all, and this is a real problem being that this is Vegetarian Thai and there isn't any meat in it, it was like a container of cooked vegetables that were again lacking flavor. There were like a couple pieces of tofu to accompany these sad peppers, onions etc. I'm not sure if this was a really bad evening for them but $53 down the drain for this shoddy meal as well as a so-so fresh roll is enough to keep me from returning here. My friends and I tried 45th Vegetarian Thai because one of my friends is vegan and my other friend is vegetarian. I love Thai food so this restaurant offered something for everyone! We ordered Vegetarian spring rolls, Thai fried rice, Pad See Iw and Yellow Curry. We also got Thai ice tea and dined at the restaurant. The food came fairly quickly. The spring rolls were tasty and crunchy while the plum sauce added just the right sweetness. My Pad See Iw with fried tofu dish arrived hot. The combination of tofu, wide flat noodles and Chinese broccoli is one of my favorite dishes. Add the sweet sauce over the noodles and I don't need anything else, except I want more! My friends enjoyed their dishes as well. This is one of our new go to restaurants in Wallingford! The staff was friendly and gave us a table near at their front window. They took our order and the food started to arrive soon after. We decided on an early dinner so the restaurant wasn't full. More people arrived as the night went on. Holy moly, this one's a winner. It took me forever to get here and now I'm not leaving. Super quiet on a Saturday afternoon so we had the run of the joint. Server was adorable and very friendly, checked on us during our meal but also gave us space. I had my new fave dish, Yum Neua Salad, which was spicy and flavorful with crunchy mock meat and fresh crisp veggies. My buddy had the orange tofu, which she pretty much devoured. There's some sort of voodoo in the Thai Iced tea, creamy, sweet and pungent I can't wait to return, again and again and try every dish on their vast menu. Cute restaurant is a bonus! read more

Oh my goodness... Let me just say, the flavours reminded me of Thailand! For someone who has been before and has tried the ordered items from the motherland, 45th Vegetarian Thai knows what they're doing!!!!!!!! The only compliant I have is the enoki mushrooms. It's very possible the oil they use to fry things was old because the mushrooms tasted like burnt oil lol. Otherwise, the show stopper was the Kao (khao) Soi. OMGGGGG!!!!!!!! I love the usage of nuts in Thai cooking, and 45th vegetarian Thai definitely delivered! I'm not a vegetarian so it was interesting to try Thai food without meats like I'm usually used to. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the khao soi, taro fried appetizer that comes with a plum sauce, the Wallingford, and the 45th street. We opted not to add the veggie meat (+$4) but that is an option too. The khao soi comes with a veggie meat drumstick already. The taro is fried in tofu skin and has peanuts mixed inside. Definitely my favorite dish, even if it was just an appetizer. It was still so hot and crispy by the time we arrived home. We ordered the kao soi with a 4/5 spicy level and it wasn't spicy at first, but the more you have, the more it hits you. It comes with the veggie meat stick, yakisoba noodles, and a variety of vegetable toppings. They package the noodles and toppings separate from the soup so it wouldn't get soggy. We couldn't finish it entirely and now have leftovers for tomorrow. The 45th street was rice paper rolls stuffed with an assortment of veggies and a peanut sauce drizzled on top. It was delicious and the sauce was sweet and savory at the same time. We ordered takeout so I cannot speak to the parking or ambiance of the restaurant. But the lady on the phone was very nice and made sure to ask us about the spice level (out of 5) for each dish. She also repeated back our order to us and asked us what type of rice we preferred (white or brown). The attention to detail throughout was nice. read more

My hubs and I went here for dinner after reading the positive Yelp reviews. I like the fact that everything here is vegan or can be made vegan by asking for no egg. As someone who isn't vegan, but can't digest dairy or egg well, it's so great to eat at a place where everything on the menu is open to me. Yay! We stopped in for lunch and we're greeted by a friendly server, who gave us waters and a bowl of complimentary soup -- a nice touch. We ordered the Pra Rama .($14.95 plus tax), with a side of brown rice (+$1), and the Pad See Iw ($13.95 plus tax; made vegan by omitting the egg). As so many others, I was terribly sad when Jhanjay closed, and then elated to hear another vegetarian Thai place was taking its spot. I finally had the opportunity to try 45th Vegetarian Thai tonight, and was not disappointed. I had the pad thai, which was delicious, large portion, and very flavorful. Best Thai food I've ever had in Seattle spanning over a 40+ year period (and I'm not even vegetarian). Chef is apparently a Champion award-winning chef back in Thailand, and it definitely shows through the floral complexities of his kefir lime-infused mango salad (served on Romaine lettuce leaves), and deep savory richness in the tofu green curry. The seasonings used in his "veggie meat" to me tastes like the best calf's liver-meets-bacon and fried onion one could imagine. Which might sound a bit gross considering this is a veggie restaurant (and most people are not even fans of liver, myself included), but I encourage anyone reading this to at least give it a try. Not finished. If that wasn't enough, even their Thai iced tea (served in a jar) seemed beyond special, to what I can only and inadequately describe as vanilla extract with Rooibos tea and home-made condensed milk? Amazing. Our server was sweet, attentive and informative. Love the fact that they also have Thai soft-pop music playing in the background which just adds brilliance and authenticity the the experience. Truly a new Seattle SE Asian gem. On a vibrant street is this little Thai restaurant. On a Friday night there weren't many people at this joint. The server was polite and asked us to sit anywhere we'd like. Being a vegetarian I was quite excited to try this place. Ordered the cashew stir fry with vegan meat and Rad Nah. Cashew stir fry was below average. It was missing salt and the sauce wasn't enough. The server forgot to get the veggie meat, which was later given to us when it was asked. Rad Nah has a lot of Asian influence. It was smoky, warm, gingery sauce doused in wide rice noodles. Tried this Thai vegetarian place for the first time and was impressed. Had the Gana Keaw Wan (eggplant stir fry), which was cooked perfectly and of reasonably good portion size. Tofu cubes were especially done well, which is sometimes difficult to pull off it seems. If I could I would knock off a half a star because I thought the sauce was too salty but others may disagree. very good vegetarian thai food in the heart of wallingford. when my friends said they wanted to walk for thai in wallingford and we arrived at the door of this restaurant, i knew i'd been here before but it's apparently changed names and owners and is now fully vegetarian. my barometer of a good thai place is how well they do phad kee mao and i'll just say the plate went back to the kitchen completely devoid of food so that should tell you something; i even forgot to take photos! the service was good and the servings were plentiful. it was a rainy sunday so not a lot of people out but three of the tables in this place were occupied and the food came reasonably fast and no one had any complaints. i'd go back for sure, or get take out if i lived closer or frequented wallingford enough. let's see if they're still around the next time i go up there but this time, i was glad they were. read more
