I've worked with Carlos once before on some inherited dining room chairs in need of repair and reinforcement. That pleasant experience gave us the confidence to trust Arboleda & Co. with this bigger job of rescuing 2 chairs for our parlor. I won't waste time by describing the shape they were in (see photos). As you might guess, the interior padding was dust barely held in place by the ragged upholstery (see photos) but like I said I'm not wasting time... ANYWAY, it wasn't cheap, but neither would new chairs be. Carlos had many patterns to choose from and helped us find just the one for us. Now we have these basically new, totally unique chairs (see photos). Even though it wasn't cheap, Carlos was perfectly reasonable on pricing (including delivery) and turnaround was faster than I expected (@2 weeks!). read more

We have used Carlos many times over the years and he has always done good work but at the moment he is refusing to return calls or to respond to texts or voicemails. In the last two weeks I have visited his workshop, written him a note and left him multiple voicemails offering him a LOT of work but he has been running away from me and refusing to return calls; like others leaving comments here have noted, he is avoiding all contact. It makes me sad to write this but I have to warn you to look elsewhere until Carlos decides to heed his customers and to pay attention to his work. read more

Carlos is absolutely the best! He re-upholstered my poor old tired 60's sofa that had taken a real beating from doggie paws over the years. He came to my house and brought tons of swatch books with him, all in the family of what I was looking for, all had durability ratings on the reverse. When I made my choice, he provided an estimate and emailed it to me right there. Upon approval of the estimate, I provided a 50% deposit up front (required) and he and his assistant loaded the sofa into his van. It was completed and delivered exactly by estimated end date at the price that had been quoted. The craftsmanship is amazing! I was floored by the quality. My mom finally had had it with storing some old 60s mod chairs that were from my grandparents so she gave them to me. The foam had completely deteriorated and they were leaking little pieces of yellow foamy sand stuff. I took them to Carlos to have the foam replaced and was very pleased with his work. They turned out looking great. He was able to use the original material and even took the time to oil the wood. It ended up costing half of what I was quoted at another shop and Carlos was super personable and nice. It took him some time to respond to my emails, but he was always available by phone. Overall, very pleased and will definitely be going back when my mom clears out more furniture. read more

I'm really not one to leave poor reviews, but the lack of communication here left me in a real bind. I was in a bit of a pickle needing to get some couch cushions filled for a client on a pretty tight timeline. I saw all of these wonderful reviews and thought it would be a slam dunk. I went to meet with Carlos at his shop to give a more accurate view of the cushions in question. He was very kind and after taking a look at the cushions, assured me he'd be in contact with an estimate and said the work could be done in no time at all. I was so relieved! With his reassurance, I ended my search for other shops and planned on the job being good as done over the next week. After probably three texts and calls to follow up with him, as it seemed to be a pretty straight forward refill job, he completely ghosted me. No response whatsoever. At least let me know if you're not interested in the job rather than keep me hanging. Really nice guy in person who I am sure does wonderful work, but he totally wasted my time. smh So not cool. read more

Amazing service by a super nice guy. I contacted 2 well-reviewed upholstery places on yelp to get an e-mail quote. The other place never returned my e-mail or call. Carlos got back to me same-day. I sent him images of a rocking chair I planned to buy off of e-bay to get an idea of what it might cost to re-upholster the cushion. His bid was more than fair, he followed up with me to see if I still needed the work done, and then when the chair did arrive he did amazing work including a little bit of repair to the wood. He custom made a pillow for the headrest, too. He delighted in the vintage Lilly Pulitzer fabric I used for the cushion and made sure to bring me back the leftover piece in great condition. We will definitely be using him again and I can't say enough great things about our experience. read more

I am a professional Interior Designer myself, living in Los Angeles, and had some furniture to reupholster and refinish. A total of 6 Dining Room chairs, and a Grand Dining Room Table with Extensions to fix. The table had been severely damaged during a move, and the legs were broken. The Chairs which were antique, and had needed to be recovered for more than 30 years. The conditions which these items were in were in very bad shape. His prices are good but the work was not. I had the seats on 6 dining room chairs reupholstered and noticed that when they were returned 3 screws needed to attach the seats to the frames were missing. I bought replacements at a hardware store but they should have done that. But the big problem was a leather executive desk chair. Within a month one of the arms came apart. I looked at it and saw it had not been reconnected properly: nails had been used instead of screws and they had pulled out. Also it was obvious that no wood glue had been used. "Glue and screw" should be the mantra of everyone working with wood. About 2 months later, the new leather began to fall apart on the seat; now, every time I sit on it, small pieces end up on the floor. I came on this site looking to find another upholsterer to repair it, but, frankly, considering Carlos' favorable reviews I don't feel comfortable relying on the reviews here because my experience was terrible. read more

And his son, Carlos, learned from the best and maintained his father's high standard after his father passed away.
