I have had both of my children enrolled at Arbor view since they were infants, and watching them grow in this nurturing environment has been an absolute gift. The team here is so much more than educators--they are like family. From day one, my children have been cared for, loved, and encouraged to explore the world around them. Now that they're in the traditional Montessori program, I can see how much they've learned and how confident and curious they've become. The teachers truly understand each child as an individual and create an environment that fosters independence, respect, and a genuine love of learning. TL;DR: "Old school" in a good way - reasonable prices, no screen time, academic environment, and a head teacher/owner (Lydia) who clearly loves what she does. My oldest child still loves to wear his Arbor View Montessori school shirt. My wife's thoughts: Lydia is personable and organized. School was clean and safe. My thoughts: Staff: Lydia, the owner/operator and head teacher, is the heart and soul of this place and is heavily involved in the daily activities for kids 3 years old and older (she has other staff who run the nursery which is part of the school). She has a strong personality and the children listen to her. (My wife and I toured another daycare center in the area before deciding on this one and the kids there were running through the building unsupervised; we watched one of the kids there grab a piece of pizza from a pizza box that was for the staff and then walk away without staff even noticing. Having spent time in Lydia's school during the day, I can confidently say that sort of thing wouldn't happen at Arbor View Montessori.) She and her staff teach the kids how to behave. There was staff turnover, but that is normal in a post-covid world and is at least partly due Lydia having high standards for her employees, like being Montessori-trained in addition to being trained in early childhood education, i.e., having ECE units. Discipline: The children here listen to the staff. Lydia runs a tight ship. While my kids were attending, I did not see or hear of any staff there administering corporal punishment to my kids or anyone else's kids. When I asked Lydia if she had any suggestions about getting kids to behave, she recommended the book Positive Discipline by Dr. Jane Nelsen. Education: This place is more like a school than a daycare. Lydia teaches the kids all sorts of things; both academic and otherwise. For example, she taught my older child how to write letters and also how to pump his legs to swing on the swings. The latter is notable because it shows that even when Lydia is out in the playground watching kids at recess, she looks for opportunities to teach kids things. The nursery staff there taught my younger child how to put away toys and also started teaching her how to eat with utensils. Activities: There are field trips to the zoo and the pumpkin patch, a Mother's Day tea, and plays/performances/potlucks for families to attend. Several kids from the school invited my oldest child to their birthday parties. Technology: Lydia is "old school" in a good way. Other than playing classical music recordings for the kids, she doesn't use educational technology with the kids. No screentime, movies, or TV at all. Huge plus. Prices: My children (an infant and a preschooler) went to school here from August 2023 through October 2024. In the time my kids were there, prices were only raised once, at the beginning of the fall term, and the increase was minimal. There are three prices based on age range: 0-2 years (infants), 2-3 years (toddlers), and 3+ years old (preschoolers). The CPI increased by 2.53% from August 2023 to August 2024, but the rates did not increase accordingly in August 2024. The monthly infant rate stayed the same ($1,580.45 per month) and the monthly pre-school rate increased by $43.30, or 3.4%, from $1,277.35 to $1,320.65. The combined annual increase in tuition for my two children from August 2023 to August 2024 was 1.51%, or 1.02% less than the CPI increase over that time period. When I asked Lydia why the infant rate did not increase, she said she didn't want to increase the most expensive rate because she knew it was hard enough for families to afford daycare and she didn't want to make it harder. She also said she did not raise prices during Covid for the same reason, which is notable as the previous daycare my oldest child attended, Childtime Of Roseville, raised prices at least three times during Covid, citing inflation. Prices do not include diapers or lunch - you must provide both. Also, if your child is 3 or older, you may be asked to bring a snack once a month or so for the entire class. Here are my older child's comments when I told him I was writing a review and asked him if he'd like to add anything: "I'd like to go back. I wanna go back to school because I love going outside for recess and then eating lunch and doing jobs. I like doing all that." ("Jobs" is the term Lydia uses for hands-on educational activities the kids can choose to do.) And then as an afterthought he said: "I like the swings too, daddy. Lydia is the rudest person I have dealt with while touring 10+ schools for my child. If she is this rude on the phone (which prior reviews indicate) I can only imagine how rude and impatient she is with the kids. We rescheduled ONCE because my husband had to go in for a meeting. Our next tour was for tomorrow, but she left me a voicemail asking if we were really coming because she had another couple that wanted to tour at the same time. Fine! No big deal at all! I called her back and told her if she had another couple that needed to get in asap, they can take tomorrows appointment, and I can take the appointment next week. She kept asking if I'm sure because if I cancel again it'll be my third time rescheduling. I said what? You called me to reschedule to fit in another couple! Then my son was talking to me in the background and she got so impatient, and asked me to call again when my son isn't in the background. At this point, I was really irritated with her rudeness and told her I'm on my own with both kids this week and there is nothing I can do about my 2.5 year old trying to get my attention. I told her she's absolutely a rude person and I would never send my child there and would be writing her a terrible review to warn other parents about the same. Again, if she is this impatient and rude about a simple tour, how does she handle toddler meltdowns? I don't even want to think about it. I would steer very clear of this place. I'm happy she showed me her nature over the phone. I would never trust her with my kids. read more

I could say a few things but if I could point out one incident that remains with me over a year later is that I had my infant and toddler here at the same time and came to breastfeed my infant on my lunch break when I left my toddler saw me leaving (rooms connected) anyway she started crying and the "teacher" proceeded to throw a blanket over her head so she could not see me. This tore me up and was my last straw I just am not okay with how cold that felt and I'll never forget it. Hopefully this helps mamas out there. Miss Lydia is amazing. I sent both of my boys here (oldest started at 3.5 and youngest started at 16 months). It is always nerve-racking to leave your babies with someone else, but I knew that my kids would be loved and well-cared for at this school. They were taught with love yet held accountable for their actions. The teachers freely communicated the positive and negative daily reports, sometimes unprompted, but always when I asked. This school also teaches children to be independent (encouraging potty training is a plus) as well as working on fine motor skills (coloring, cutting, drawing, writing, and several Montessori jobs). The art and worksheets coming home showed an obvious progression of my sons' skills/abilities improving over time. This school also teaches a broad array of curriculum (cultures, geography, animals, phonics, foods, songs, etc.). This is also a very clean facility (I see staff cleaning at the end of every day), they celebrate birthdays, and they celebrate holidays with parties where parents are typically welcomed to join. Additionally, a huge benefit to me as a full time working mom was their hours; offering before/after preschool daycare as well as a summer camp. After spending close to 5 years at this school, Miss Lydia feels like family. She has shared recipes with me and is genuinely interested in me and my family. We miss this school as my sons are now in elementary school, but we will surely be back to visit. read more

This place is great. I enrolled my eldest here and now have my second daughter attending. The teachers here are loving, want to actually have a relationship with each child and have a lot of patience for their students. My first daughter really enjoyed her time here--compared to her peers at her current school, her behavior, skills and knowledge is actually more advanced than a lot of the other students in her class. (I know this because my wife volunteers at her school) This school teaches a lot of leadership and independence. My second child is currently attending preschool here. The first couple of days were rough since she needed to adjust to a new environment. It's been a month now that she's been here and she's still transitioning but for the most part, it has been smooth. The teachers are very patient with her and I can already see improvements in her behavior, organizational skills and willingness to help. Everyday I pick her up they are always updating us with how she did throughout the day. My child has been going to AVM for over a year now and has really blossomed. He has confidence, interacts better with children and is learning so much. They work on different areas/skills daily- his reading/phonics, writing, coloring, mathematics and hand eye coordination have improved so much. I've had my two daughters here for over a year. I would be keeping them there if not for relocating due to work. The teachers here are all great. There is genuine care and love for the children from all the teachers. The scariest part of child care is usually the infant room, but at Arbor View Mrs Michelle eases every worry a parent could have. She is constantly attentive and giving everything she has to make sure the babies are all taken care of through the whole day. I would not recommend this place, ever. I had my 3 year old here, and she was spanked for being on the toilet when she wasn't supposed to be....(aren't we potty training, folks?!) That is not ok- ever. The day we decided this place definitely wasn't right was when my husband and I went to pick up our child together. We personally witnessed one of the helpers/ teachers 'Nusheem' yanking up a little one by the arm and yelling as dragging the child (Brynn or Ava- one of the twins) by her arm. I brought this to the attention of the main faculty, then was confronted by 'Nusheem' the next time I saw her. She asked why I would say that (because I witnessed it, and am concerned as heck- duh!) and she explained that the girl was not good and bit her sister sometimes. Either way- that's not ok of faculty EVER!! A couple days later, I picked up my daughter with a "maybe a rug burn" on the TOP of her wrist, per Nusheem. That was it. I figured it was child abuse retaliation because I reported her. That was the last straw, and I feel like a bad mom for not taking her out sooner- please don't judge- I feel bad enough. Please find another place for your child. Don't go here. Ever. If you do decide on this place, for some reason, PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A HIDDEN/nanny CAMERA. This is a place where a moms heart feels safe to know that her kids are in a loving environment where the teachers care. Today I took my two toddlers in, MJ and leo. Of course there were some tears and a little bit of a runny nose that comes with it. The teacher straight away got a tissue and took care of it. Two minutes later, my boys were quietly playing. I left knowing that they will be well taken care of, they will be safe, they will play and learn as well the things a working mother only has weekends for. Always listen to your kids. Nothing but love and care at this location. They do nothing but encourage the children and you can tell they genuinely care about your children. However do not be mistaken they will discipline your child when necessary and will do it in a proper manner. My daughter has been there through all the stages from infant, toddler, and now a big kid they always made it as easy as possible for her transitions to different teachers or classrooms. They also have a pretty good curriculum and Mrs. Lydia gives you a monthly news letter on what will they will be going over for that month.My daughter definitely reflects these monthly curriculum goals.I do not know what i will do once my daughter is too big for this school, I love all the teachers and appreciate the work they do. read more

If the infant teacher is still Michelle don't place your child there...she is impatient, unkind and not good with children. I suspect her transcripts were forged and the owner admittedly calls her "slow" she is not appropriate for children and has been fired from every child care she worked at prior to Arbor View. I believe she struck my child and came up with a reason for the hand print on his cheek 6 hours later, if you know how a mark appeared then it wouldn't take 6 hours to remember. I wrote a complaint to the owner and nothing was done about it and that teacher remained working there. HOMESCHOOL whenever possible. read more

I have been looking for a Montessori for my 3-year-old with mild autism. I decided to tour here after having some minor communication with Lydia via email. She seemed very friendly so I decided to accept the tour offer. Once we showed up, there was no one inside at first to greet us, which is typically normal sometimes, as I am a daycare teacher so I understand some things in a daycare facility. I was greeted by Lydia who, immediately jumped into asking me questions about my child's behavior and if he was aggressive. I answered every question willingly and I had let her know that due to the autism, he would require aids to come in and work with him in a group setting. She let me know this was unacceptable and would need to be done at home because it would be too much of a disruption to her class. As soon as she said this, I knew I was not going to put my son here. Wow. I just called this place to get some information and based on my 5 minute conversation with the lady who answered the phone, I would never consider this place for my child. She answered the phone with "Hello, what do you need?" She was very rude and interrupted me each time I spoke. She provided me with information she thought I needed based on the few words she let me get in. When I was able to complete my questions, she rudely told me that I was confusing her as she had assumed I was going to ask something different. She was very impatient and didn't want to give out information and asked me three times if I wanted a tour. I would have scheduled the tour if she was more professional and less rude. She did tell me this: 2 days of full time care costs $195/week. 3 days of full time care costs $235/week. 2 days of part time care costs $155/week. I've called a handful of other daycare places and they've all been very professional and if their policy is to not give out the care cost, they didn't give out that information and simply apologized saying that pricing is available upon a tour. read more

The teachers and the principal are very nice and super loving to my daughter. My daughter has built a bond with them which is so sweet. My child has attended Arbor View Montessori since August 2015 and she genuinely enjoys going to school everyday. She was 2 yrs. old when she started, and in almost 2 years we've seen phenomenal developments in every aspect of her primary education (e.g. writing, phonics, geography, etc.). A few impressive things my child learned at 3 yrs. old...she knows all 7 continents and she knows about 2 U.S. presidents and can recognize both. Additionally, she learned to write her first name (very legibly). I'm very impressed with the care and love the staff provide to my child and all other students as well. Mrs. Saadeh has been teaching Montessori for 25+ years. When I first began searching for a Montessori school in Roseville, I was extremely critical of each location, as I've had previous experiences with Montessori schools. The school is clean, organized and has a great amount of Montessori jobs for children of all ages. After assessing Arbor View, I knew this would be the place I would select for my daughter. We work with Arbor View Montessori as physical education program, and this school by far has the BEST structure and behavior of the students. The students are very happy, and very cooperative and very advanced for their ages. The class is always clean and very organized. The staff is very welcoming, and they really care about each of the students wellness, and development. The director is very kind hearted, caring, and compassionate, and is highly educated. My nephew went to arbor view 11 years ago so we decided to put our son in school there and it was a awful experience. Owner is very manipulative and all about money. The owner was sympathetic of our family situation and told us we would get a refund if my son didn't like it there. We pulled our son out once we found out the staff was lying to us about him crying, luckily my sister made a surprise visit and saw that he was crying and the owners daughter told my sister he had been crying all day. We were informed in the beginning if he cried more then a hour we would get a call. I confronted the owner and she said my son started crying when he saw my sister which was a lie and a cover up started. I got my sister on the phone and they reversed the lie rite in front of me. I pulled my son out but they tried there best to keep him there promising a refund like we agreed on. Once the owner found out we would not return her tone and demeanor changed to aggression and false allegations. I wouldn't recommend this school we finally settled on playcare learning center which is great. read more

While my wife and I are both huge proponents of the montessori teaching methodology we were very disappointed in Arbor View as our first venture into montessori. The adminstration of the school is unorganized and we both found it very difficult to get simple questions answered. While the staff Director appears to consider herself a disciplinarian, her approach is one that we often viewed as belittling the children as opposed to building up through constructive support. Our daughter only attended the summer program and that was all we needed to swiftly remove her from the school and enroll her back in the Roseville pre-school system where we had a much better experience. I have visited many preschools in the roseville area, and none of them even come close to how amazing arborview is. The staff are wonderful with the children and offer not only teaching, but cultural lessons and life skills. This Montessori has been a blessing! We have a very active child who has not fit in previous preschool/daycare type settings. We have found this to be the only school that challenges him, holds him accountable and encourages him to succeed through positive reinforcement and structure. ALL of the teachers and their diverse backgrounds here are very involved with the children and want to see them succeed. Through consistency at home and at school, our child has excelled. My husband and I have learned that it is not a teachers job to fix our child. Through feedback and application of learned skills, at home, we are all getting on the same page and our child is benefiting by leaps and bounds. My daughter is turning 5 years old this year and has been attending Arbor View Montessori since she was 3 and a half and she has learned so much and is reading books at the level of 1st and 2nd graders!! She loves her teachers and is learning so many new things every day that she is there. The staff and director are amazing and helped our daughter develop so much in the time she has been attending there. I am looking forward to sending the next children that we have there. If you absolutely have to have your children in childcare while you and your spouse work, this is definitely the place to have your children. PS...I would have given 0 stars if I could! I would not recommend this Montessori school to anyone. To my understanding the Montessori curriculum is designed to embrace each child's interest and abilities and expand on their skills; that was not the case with my family's experience with arbor view, in fact, it was quite the opposite. The school, primary teacher and administrator/director expected my child to fit their Montessori "mold" right away. In fact, the very first day the teacher switched out my child's sippy cup to a "school-approved" sippy cup, stating that it looked too much like a bottle and would confused the other kids. They made this decision without calling or consulting with me or my husband. As a result, my child did not drink that day adequate fluids that a day. During the time we enrolled in arbor view, we were experiencing changes at home, he had just moved, so to make such a drastic move on our child's first day showed little awareness or sensitivity to this transitioning period. Additionally, the administrator/director expressed interest in learning more about my child's abilities by asking if she could attend a session with one of his therapist. She did not show up for the appointment, nor did she bother to contact me to inform me that the session would not work...this showed me that she had very limited interest in learning more about my child. Throughout our enrollment at arbor view, there were several "red flags" my husband and I became aware of that collectively demonstrated to us our son was not being provided the best care. We received reports that were not consistent with our child's behavior and we questioned whether we were shared accurate information about our child's day at school. The school viewed our child as a distraction to their Montessori curriculum and we pulled him out! He is now attending a school that loves and respects him! I advise any parent or guardian to be aware of their gut feelings, no matter how big or small, and address them immediately! read more

My wife and I looked at 8 different schools for our son to attend when we were choosing two years ago. We decided on Arbor View Montessori and have been very pleased with our choice. We now have two boys at this school and have nothing but positive things to report. The staff always acts in a professional manner and they are great educators. They do a wonderful job of promoting learning through play and as a result our children have achieved far more than we expected. This is not a good school. My four years old kid went to this school just for week, and his confident went down a lot and lot of negatity in the teachers. The teachers never encourage kids, uses lot of negative words like "you are a bad boy, you don't know, you can't do". Even they are in the month of March they are giving worksheets of letter 'b' for kids who already knew phonics and able to read. The principal had only one Montessori trained teacher and she is very old, and can't handle Kids very well. She had many untrained teachers as staff who really don't know the child psychology. Overall this school is worse. Thank God we have realized this very early before things getting worse for my kid. If you leave in and around Roseville area, please do not consider this school. read more
