I paid a little more for a pedicure that would soften up my abused feet, and it was great. Nancy was really careful to leave a little bit of roughness for exercise/running purposes, and I appreciate that. My pedicure has lasted two weeks, so that's great. My manicure was just fine -- good shape. I don't believe in paying a crazy amount for a manicure because they're so easily ruined. I'm sure they do have crazy wait times, but I always call ahead, and they haven't led me astray yet. read more

Mother-in-law and I were trying to enjoy a girls' day out. We did lunch down the street at Roaring Fork but it was an unmitigated disaster that left me tense and irritated. Good thing this was our next spot. Thanks to their apt pampering, we both left relaxed and pleased. When we arrived it was 3 pm. They sat us both right away, next to each other. They were willing to use our nail polish. And, when my water was too cold, the lady there poured it out and put hotter water in for me. We each had the deluxe sugar scrub pedicure. Complete with hot towels wrapped around our feet and a hot stone massage. Our nails were painted perfectly, our massages were relaxing and they even offered us bottled water. If someone is paying $$ for nails one should be satisfied with the end results. My nails were different sizes and so much acrylic was added to where it looked bad. I wouldn't go back again. The fact that I had no design on my nails just one solid color and it looked bad is disappointing. read more

Decided to get a pedicure on Memorial Day thinking they wouldn't be too busy. Boy was I wrong but who cares! A friend and I went together and after a wait of about 20 minutes were seated next to each other. Feet soaking for about 20 minutes while we waited but it was fine with us. After they started on our feet, my friend had a couple glasses of wine and I stuck to water. The experience was well worth the wait. We got the Milk and Honey. Did not feel rushed at all and Cameron is wonderful. I have a couple of toes that are weird due to ingrown toenail issues that a surgeon messed up. She knew the cause and really took care to make sure they looked great. Usually one of them still looks bad after a pedicure and I wear closed shoes. Today, I'm in flip-flops! Finding a top-service yet affordable nail salon in Austin is sometimes like trying to find meaning in a Spongebob episode-pretty frustrating and time-consuming. Still, I when I moved to the Arboretum area 2 years ago, I felt like I hit the jackpot when I found Arboretum Nails and Spa. The service is great and my manis and pedis last forever, which is a must to a teacher like me who is always talking with her hands. They have these uber-comfortable massage chairs and big screen TVs where they show girlie movies all around the salon. They offer this wonderful deluxe pedicure which I did the day before my wedding, and it was one of the most pampering things I have ever done to my body. My only complaint about this nail salon is that making an appointment is pretty much fruitless-I've made appointments several times and I still have to wait to be seated. Nevertheless, I love Arboretum Nails and Spa and will keep coming here for years so come! read more

Really, really great. I was looking for a new nail place and searched a bit here to find some suggestions. I have to say that the compliments were well-earned. Ann worked on my feet and I wanted to hug her afterward. My nails - on both my hands and feet - look great. Might be the best mani/pedi I've ever had. And I don't think this was beginner's luck: There were ten pedicure chairs in the salon and all were full almost the entire time I was there. But no customers ever had to wait. It was crazy. And I heard several women comment on the new chairs (apparently the chairs had recently been delivered and installed). You know what that tells me? These customers were all regulars. And the staff recognized the regulars by sight and name. I shouldn't be so surprised/impressed, but I am. Most no-appointment-necessary nail salons just aren't this professional. I have to agree with most of what's been said so far -- the space was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and focused on making sure every last detail was perfect, all of the customers seemed very happy. After my last visit. I will not be coming back. I scheduled an appointment for a fill and pedicure. For some reason the lady who did my nails acted like she was in a rush when it wasn't even busy. She continued to drill over my fingers and they still sting now. My cuticles are so bad now. When I told her she was hurting me she said it's because my nails weren't relaxed. I'm very disappointed. I've never had that rough of a tech before. Now to wash my hands in hot water.... my nails sting. Stay away from here. read more

I love pedicures. Nothing I love more than plopping down in the chair, having someone clean up the tootsies, and a great leg massage while I relax. Even a mediocre pedicure is enough to make me happy. Not a picky color person. Don't need the nails filed to perfection. Just want to relax. That's what was missing at Arboretum Nails and Spa. Called that afternoon for an appointment. The lady who answered told me 630p was available. I arrived a few minutes early cause I hate to keep people waiting. Sadly, they don't feel the same. I stood in the doorway for 5-10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Several people made eye contact, but no one said a word. Finally someone asked to help and I was told to pick my color. I then sat and waited. And waited. And waited some more. I finally went back to the pedicure area at 705p to let them know I was leaving. The girl turned on the water in a chair and told me to have a seat. I then waited another 10 minutes. Every nail tech in the place was busy. It's not as if they were hanging out in back eating bon bons and reading trashy magazines. They were truly hustling. No clue if they over booked the appointments or just took everyone who walked in without an appointment. Either way, horrible experience. I didn't take it out on the lady who did my nails. I thought she was going to cry. I found myself apologizing to her that she was staying late to do my nails. Even left her a big fat tip because she was innocent in the whole thing. Unfortunately I won't be back to this location after numerous visits. I've tried to be understanding but I just can't justify it anymore. I will start off by saying there are a couple of very kind and very thorough women here. In fact, that's why I kept giving this facility more chances. Appointments means nothing. Literally nothing. An appointment is treated the same way as a walk in. They get to you when they get to you. Numerous occasions I have seen customers come in to be seated and wait a very extended amount of time for an appointment to get started. I've heard at least two threaten to leave. I honestly think the biggest issue here is what I believe is the manager or owner. She's a nice enough lady, a little dry but hey- you're entitled to your own personality style. But almost every interaction I've had with her was neutral at best and frustrating more often than not. Even after seeing me numerous times, knowing that I come in for mani/pedis and gel nails, there are just times when I want my nails to breathe. When I've requested only polish, she pushed my choice and I remained firm. She made numerous comments and I had the impression she wanted me to spend more money than just a color mani. When I came to just remove gel nails and nothing else because I was in a hurry that day, I was met with the same attitude. That's fine she can deal, I'm in a hurry. After sitting for about 10 minutes, the customer next to me mentioned she could get started on my nails while she soaked since I would have to sit a while in tin foil. She proceeds to leave me in foil wrapped acetone soaked cotton for an ungodly amount of time. To the point I kept asking and she kept saying "just a minute". I told her I was going to take them off because they were uncomfortable at this point (maybe 20+ minutes at this point) and she got short with me and ordered me to keep them on. After what was the most infuriating wait, the gel is finally, hurriedly scraped off my nails and I found how sad, brittle, and damaged my nails were. It's been 3 weeks and my nails are still not back in the strong condition they were before. This has been my experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to friends and I won't be returning. I ordered the pedicure and got SO much more. So many good things to list- Good selection of quality nail polishes, piles of recent gossip magazines, extremely comfortable chairs with massaging features, 2 very large flat screens in the pedicure area (one of each wall of chairs, so you never have to crane your head to see it! Unlike all the other places Ive gone to), they played recently released DVDs (saw 500 days of summer- very good btw) which was just released a week or so go. I got glasses of wine and bottles of water as well, very great place. Of course, most importantly- The pedicure. I went BALLS out for this one. I got the DELUXE pedicure (highly recommend) as other reviews have stated- 3 separate foot massages. The scrub/exfoliating rub down, the cooling clay-like hot towel massage, and then a long lotion massage. I also got the paraffin wax, which is odd but EFFECTIVE. I have always treated my feet well, pedicures at least every 2 weeks for the last 5 years of my life, but I have NEVER had such smooth feet that I can remember. Its literally as soft as a baby's bottom (way better smelling though). Very nice staff, 5 stars! Oh yeah... I got ALL of the above (the wine, the pedicure, the wax bag, the massages, the bottled water, the newly released movie watching) for $45 and 2 hours of relaxation. THATS A DEAL! read more

I have gone to them a few times and had great results. I got a pedicure that was flawless and lasted almost two months and they still looked new and shiny. The staff are professional. Not real talkative but I'm not there to chit chat so I'm cool with that. Yes, I do agree with the other reviews that mention the rather long waiting times, but its well worth it! I assume the popular places are popular for a reason, which is the case with Arboretum Nails. They are very popular and very busy, but it is because they are wonderful! Would you rather wait on a couch, or with your feet soaking in warm water (which is optional), watching a movie? I usually make my appointments with Lee, unless I walk-in and she is too busy. And, even if she is, she doesn't ever make me feel bad for being helped by someone else. She still offers me water and will help me translate what I want, if needed. Bottom line...Lee and all of the other sweet women who work there are great and I will be making an appearance several times per month! read more

My feet were in serious need of some pampering, so when my friend suggested a Saturday afternoon pedicure, I said "Yes, please!" This happens to be where she frequently goes. We opted for the deluxe spa pedicures, and eyebrow waxes. The pedicure was nice. There was scrubbing with purple stuff, and massaging with blue stuff. They wrapped my feet in plastic wrap at one point, and hot towels at another. My biggest complaint is that my pedicurist accidentally ripped off a piece of skin and I started bleeding. I'd prefer that did not happen, but it did and I survived. The price for the pedicure was $40, which is way more than I've ever paid for one, but I was pretty pleased with the results. They are precise, never sloppy and will redo something if it isn't up to their standards (I've never had to point out a flaw or mistake--they have always fixed it on their own). I have been to this salon many times throughout the last couple years and typically my experience has been great so long as Lee or Cameron have done my gel nails. If I was to review them, this would be a 5 star review! They're absolutely wonderful! Now on to the bad part. Unfortunately, there have been a couple times where I have had to walk in without an appt. and the girls I prefer to do my nails are either busy or off that day. The first time this happened, I got a woman named Trang and when she went to cut my cuticles, she actually cut so far down, I bled! She didn't even seem to think it was much of deal and went about her business not saying a word to me. Definitely not relaxing time when your finger is on fire! And then there was another time (today) that I had to walk in not having an appt. and once again I got her. I decided not to say anything and see if things might be different from the last about a year ago. Absolutely NOT! Once again she cut my cuticle until it bled, didn't say a word to me or express any concern about it hurting and just put some solution on it to stop the bleeding. Her customer service wasn't at all up to standard and to top it off, when I left the salon and was in the day light, my gel nails were not smooth and were uneven and bumpy! I just paid $35, are you kidding me?! At this point, I didn't have time to go back in and say anything bc I had to be at work in 30 mins. But you better believe I will be in there within the next couple days to get this fixed! All and all, only see Lee or Cameron if you're looking for professionalism, customer service and a great gel nail job! I will be sure to make appts. from here on out! read more

It really sucks when businesses get popular and the quality of service declines :( I came today on my lunch break hoping to get out in like... 2 hours but I was gone nearly 2 and a half. Yeah I understand the lunch rush but I was there from 12-220. Had my pedicure tech not wandered off for 20 minutes to go do a manicure after she put the hot towels on my legs, it wouldn't have taken so long. Also, I have a personal pet peeve about people shoving my toe ring around, to the bottom of my toe... Happened several times. It's forgivable if they fix it but she never did, even after I moved it. Le sigh. I hate dramatic reviews after an experience really isn't that bad, but for $40 plus the $7 tip makes it a bit meh. read more

Went in around 11 on a weekday for a going out of town pedi emergency and there were 4 people in the salon. By the time I left at 12:30 every pedi chair was full and almost every mani table. This seems to be the place for the 20-somethings to come to during lunch break for some reason. The girls that did my pedi was sweet and did a decent job. (couldv'e used more massage) She used a minty mask of some kind that felt really nice and I gotta say, my heels felt soft aftwards. I am one of those lucky people that just has tough feet (I overpronate) and I tend to get calluses on my heels that regular lotion just doesn't take care of. She did a calllus treatment with saran wrap that really worked and kept me soft for about a week, which is a long time in my world. I like to relax during my pedis though, which is where Arboretum fails for me. There is stuff everywhere in that place - stacks of magazine, tools, boxes of saran wrap, etc - just every where. It just felt really messy - kind of like my closet floor after I'm get ready to go somewhere - not very soothing or calm feeling. Plus the pedi chairs are butted right up next to each other so you can hear every details of the convo next door (can you even believe Serina said that to Rachel?! OMG!). Maye when it's not so busy it's not as bad. But, they also do acrylics, and I've been trying to go to places that do natural nail lately because that smell just kills me - blech. I sound picky, but whatever. If I'm paying $40+ for something, I want it like I want it. There is better in Austin so I won't be back unless it's another last minute pedi emergency! read more

After reading through SO MANY reviews for SO MANY salons, I opted to give this one a try for a pedicure..the Deluxe, of course. I am new to town and have gone to Silk Nails. The pedicures there are okay, but with all the raves about the Arboretum Nails & Spa, I had to try it. It was AWESOME. The massage part of it is done in 3 different "sessions", once when they put on the mask, then hot towels, then when they put the scrub on, and then again when they put the lotion! YAY. While I was in the chair I looked at the other people doing Pedicures to see if they all did it the same way. One woman did, the other I didn't see her do anything "special". So, I took the woman I went to, so I can see her again. And, yes, the Deluxe comes with a glass of wine. It's great! read more

I haven't had a mani/pedi in over two years and decided to try out Arboretum nails and spa today. Walked in (Sunday around 1pm) and got a deluxe pedicure and gel mani. The girls were great, very nice and did exactly as I asked (wanted short short nails as I use my hands all day). Very clean and efficient salon, they did the mani and pedi at the same time and I was done in about an hour. One of the first manicures or pedicures I have gotten without any pain from girls ripping off cuticles or cutting me etc. Very impressed and I will be returning! I have been through a dozen of them here and this one is by far THE BEST. Katie is a magician with solar nails! I have been going to them for a year as they do a good job on my nails. They charge too much money. They let you pick your pedicure from the menu and I paid a lot and did not receive the service it says. I asked them after and they said they do not have that service anymore and I said you charge med for it. I do not recommend and I think we should boycott them.
