Nelzon was recommended by a friend and I am so glad we were able to have his crew do the work on our Hollywood juniper. He was not in a rush to get the job done, like several others, and actually recommended we wait until winter so the tree would be in a dormant state. Had we done it when he first came to assess the job, the tree would likely have not fared as well and would have bled a lot of sap. I was really impressed by his knowledge and advice, which no other tree companies had given. He listened carefully and repeated what I was asking him to do, showing me cut lines with a laser. He understood that I was looking for aesthetic balance and some openness as the tree had become oversized and oppressive in our small yard. What his crew achieved was just what we hoped for - reduction in size and bulk with some airiness, while still offering privacy from our neighbors. And they did it in the time promised and left the yard (and a few of our neighbors) clean and in order. Nelzon was on time and the process of getting a quote was professional with no heavy sales approach. On the day of the tree trim, the entire crew was on time and very careful to evaluate the home to both protect our property and maintain their safety. They did an outstanding job trimming a very large Elm. A perfect tree haircut. In addition, I threw the team a curve ball and asked if they could trim another tree we had not discussed previously. Nelson was so professional in the planning phase, explained what he recommended, and provided a written proposal. Then his crew arrived as scheduled and did a thorough, perfect job thinning out and trimming both for the health of the tree and also to improve the sun in my garden and the views from the house. His crew members were all exceptionally nice and they really knew what they were doing. (The older guy who climbed to the top has apparently been doing this work for thirty years!) Being that we have been wanting to get rid of a couple of trees in our backyard, we asked to see if they could give us an estimate. Nelzon came over and gave us a great estimate. This is not a review of the quality of Arborland's work. Judging from all the positive reviews I'm sure they do just fine. Sometime during the last few years businesses have gotten the idea that it's okay to ignore potential customers. For instance, they'll direct you to leave them a message and they promise to get back to you, but they never do. Or they actually make an appointment with you and then never show up. That's the case here. Last week we contacted Arborland to get an estimate for a tree removal. They made an appointment to come out several days later during a specific one hour window. We made certain to be home during that hour. They didn't show up, didn't call and we have not heard from them since. Perhaps if businesses were more often held accountable they would come to understand that our time is as important to us as theirs is to them. read more

Yeah, we would give them ten stars, too. They have been coming here for years after another tree service did a bad job on the trees. Now they take care of our huge Valley Oaks, Cedars, and Bays. We've lived here for over 50 years, and they have never looked as good. The reason that I'm taking the time to write this review is they saved us last week. When the atmospheric river came through the Bay Area we had a huge mudslide into the creek. It has been a nightmare. We knew that the Bays nearest the creek would have to be taken out and it was heartbreaking. They came out to consult and said that they could be saved if they took some serious weight off them. I think that another tree company could have taken advantage of the situation. It seemed obvious to us that they couldn't be saved, but they thought of the trees and not how much money they could make.
