Our baseball team stayed 2 nights at the Arbuckle Lodge. The 1st night was wonderful and our boys were even commended by the staff on their good behavior in the pool and around the hotel. The 2nd night was a nightmare! The hotel booked a graduation party INSIDE the pool area of the deck area and left the pool open to the guests. So our boys used the pool normally, as little boys would do. Apparently, they weren't supposed to do that...... It quickly turned into a horrible situation with both parties VERY upset. The manager is quite difficult to work with and loves to write/comment disparaging things on social media about guests she doesn't care for. Be careful or you might find yourself on the other end of these facebook posts. read more

Was an absolutely awesome place to stay for a couple days in Gillette Wyoming! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Friendly and fun. They has a thirsty Thursday for Thursday night football that was a lot of fun and a bonus! Had beer and snacks during the game in a great atmosphere! This hotel means business, our family was going on a US road trip and had to stop for the night. To this day (7/6/16). This is the best hotel I have stayed in. Super awesome pool, great breakfast, great atmosphere in general. Our particular room had one side with 2 queen beds, the other with 2 bunk beds, and we probably spent $95 dollars there. Meh is my feeling toward this hotel. It looks nice, but it has been a series of crappy events since i checked in (i am at this lodge until tomorrow). 1. The number of FLIES in this place is sickening. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. I killed two in my room last night and woke up to more this morning. And they are in the lobby, too, hundreds of them! It is obnoxious and makes you wonder how clean this place really is. 2. The fire alarm went on and off for about 15 minutes upon check in. I literally walked into my room and BAM, the loudest piercing sound i have ever heard. No explanation given to guests about why it was going off. 3. Called the front desk around 9:30pm last night for a box of tissues, never came. 4. My room is at the very end of the first floor hall way, and the only way to enter the building is through the front door...would be convenient to be able to enter through the door right outside my room! All in all, unimpressed. But i guess I shouldn't have expected as much as i did from Wyoming. read more

Upon arrival at this very nice looking lodge we were so impressed by its appearance. As they say looks can be deceiving. If you have booked through an alternate site DO NOT PAY FOR BREAKFAST! Because we were giving a deal the lodge charges these customers $5 a day per person. Which honestly is not a bad price, until you get your paperwork and realize it is a complimentary breakfast to everyone else. We booked 9 months ahead in order to get a good. Why should we be penalized, we still paid a reasonable rate. This was the first of many problems The very first night we had difficulties with the TV. We called down and asked if someone could come up and help. We were told very politely "oh, yes I will come right up". We waited and waited she never came. We gave up and went to bed. Next morning asked again, we left for the day came back we were told the same thing, once again never showed. Had to call and get rude in order to get someone up there. Finally fixed. We were staying 7 nights paperwork said light housekeeping unless other wise requested. All we wanted done was beds made, clean towels and trash removed. First couple of days it went well. Then it stopped we called down for towels was told I will be right up,no one ever came. Finally had to go down and get them ourselves. The next when asking housekeeping if they were going to service the room they said no we had to request. WE DID NOT REQUEST WHEN IT WAS DONE BEFORE! I have worked in the customer service business and I realize that the customer is not always right but gosh but your best food forward. The lack of customer service at this place was astounding. Our son lives in Gillette. Because of the lack of customer care at this establishment we WILL NOT STAY AGAIN. 24 hours is too long to drive to be treated like crap!! read more

Horrible experience. We are a local family and after the death of my 16 year old son we had family coming to town and rented several rooms. Choosing them not because of their close proximity (quite the opposite. They're clear out of town) but because we wanted a hot tub. This was confirmed upon reserving the room (at an outrageous price and no bereavement discount ~ no big deal) Get there. Get the keys and they say no hot tub. Our room was spacious, clean, and quite comfortable. Unfortunately the refrigerator was really loud and often woke me up when it came on. Probably should have just unplugged the damn thing and slept better for it, but that's not something I should have to do. Probably a 5 star experience without that annoyance, though. Check-in and -out were quick and straightforward and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was the usual but with a bit more variety: cereal, biscuits and gravy, waffle irons, breakfast burritos, etc. Location isn't right in downtown, so you'll have to drive a bit, but you'd probably have to anyway. read more

Worst place we ever stayed. Reserved room two weeks in advance, when we got there give us another room. Under the beds dirty . Never told us no room service on week ends. The breakfast was cold, claim there breaker blew, but still served a cold breakfast. Price was different when we checked out. We checked out a day early. Dont have any clue where these great reviews are coming from, guess the employees. Dont be fooled when you walk in. Dog hair in the rooms on carpet and beds, pet friendly really, i dont believe i want to stay in a bed where a dog slept. Dogs barked all night. I read alot of reviews about the way money is handled, different amount you are charged for, Stay at your own risk and dont be fooled by the great reviews, dig deeper into the reviews. The Arbuckle Lodge appears to be fairly new judging by the surrounding area and the location sitting pretty much by itself. Not far off the highway so it is easy to get to. Staffing was very friendly and helpful. Our room was good sized and clean. The bed was just slightly firm for our tastes but not too bad. They had the typical free breakfast and it was no better or worse than many others we have been to. They also serve free tacos for a light evening bite to eat. Always plenty of seating. The location is close to many restaurants and shopping i.e. Walmart and the likes. Try to make it to the Ice Cream Cafe for some wonderful homemade ice cream after eating at Pokey's BBQ. Great combination!! Arbuckles is well taken care of and clean with decent prices. This would be one for us to recommend. read more

I now have been charged for 3 nights only stayed one night. Called and manger won't return my call. Mine and another room wasn't ready when we went to check in at 4:00pm, had to wait about 15 minutes. I use to enjoy this hotel, very convenient as a hockey coach close to the rink stayed every year but they have lost my business and I'm pushing for the rest of the hockey club to never return. read more

We were traveling through WY. on the way to MT. and found this place from the internet and what a nice surprise. The lobby and the rooms were very clean and the rooms were huge. Room had frig and coffee maker. Complementary wifi which was slow. They even had a light snack in the evening which was a hearty beef stew, biscuits and iced tea to drink. Breakfast was very good. Hotel was very quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially the young man at the front desk. One of the nicer hotels we have stayed at in some time. read more

We were caught on the highway in a snow storm and they took us in and the lodge is beautiful. The employees are kind and very helpful. When the roads were still closed they did everything they could to let us stay another night. The breakfast was great and I enjoyed sitting by the fireplace while i ate. read more

This is your typical western lodge/hotel. Cowboy boots, hats, cowhide, etc is the decor throughout the lodge/hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. The price was decent at $119 a night for a two queens room. There is free parking, free wifi, gym and a pool. There is free breakfast starting at 6am. It's okay. Could be better. The lady who checked me and my business partner in (Emily) impressed me very much! She welcomed me and told me all about the amenities and additionally, what to do while in town. She seemed genuinely interested in spending the time to really explain all the awesome services and features this lodge had to offer. Upon going into the hotel, the room was clean and comfortable. I walked away (to my room) feeling like I was at a resort at the level of Disneyland or better. I'd for sure come back to this hotel if I was ever to visit this town. The town in general has grown since I was last here, and the oil money seems to be serving them well. Free breakfast & free dinner. And staff tries really hard to assist you. Upon pre paid check in we were told our King Room was not available. The only elevator had a bighandwritten sign posted "push very hard"! Our substituted family room AC unit was not working and no maintenance available to fix. When we then asked for a refund we were denied because no authorized management on site. The website is fraudulent advertising comfort top mattresses, the mattress was extra firm and very uncomfortable! Could hear doors closing throughout the night, wishing more sound proof. The staff seemed forced and phony, no home spun hospitality found here. The lodge is in need of overall general maintenance and good management. read more

I made reservations for two rooms at Arbuckle Lodge in Gillette Wyoming on August of 2019. Because of Covid we cancelled the rooms in a reasonable amount of time. I have went around and around with them to get my money credited back to my card.They finally texted me back with some gateway app called dollarsonthenet. I was to take the screenshot of the invoice they sent to me to the bank and told they would release the funds.The bank and credit card company don't show any activity. I tried to call the manager but she won't answer my calls. What poor customer service, and the audacity not to refund my money is appaling. I will use all resources to get my money back, but I suggest if you even think for a second you might have to cancel when booking there, think twice, you'll never get your money back. read more

Excellent hotel experience! Check-in was easy and quick, our requests for rooms location was already in place, large room with comfortable bed and great amenities. Breakfast the next morning was very good with a wide range of selections. And, the hotel​ gave discounts for families attending sports events. I made a reservation with Arbuckle Lodge on Feb, 16, 2019. I drove over 1400 miles to stay at this hotel over a four day period. I arrived on June 18, 2018 and when checking in I was told that the hotel was overbooked and my reservation had been bumped. Of course, they tried to blame it on a third party booking agency, but after calling the booking agency I learned the Arbuckle Lodge just informed them one hour prior that my reservation was cancelled. Arbuckle's response to me was that it was out of their hands, It was our problem. So here my wife and I were, 1400 miles from home trying to find a last minute place to stay. Come on, they knew about my reservation for five months and by the way, took my money, and they couldn't inform me sooner? Maybe, it had something to do with the sold out event across the street at the Cam Plex Center. This is underhanded and just plain greedy. I wish I could give negative stars. read more

To rosehillmom and giantsguy65 - regarding your situation and answered response. I had to cancel my reservations at Arbuckle Lodge in late March 2020, because of the Covid-19 non-essential travel band (which I had no control of). I made numerous attempts to contact the third party company that booked my reservation. Because of the bombardment of cancelations I was unable to contact the third party and cancel my reservations at Arbuckle. However, a few weeks later I did receive an apology email from the third party, stating the reasons why they were unable to respond to my emails and or calls (Covid-19). Since I was unable to cancel my reservation with the third party, my son-in-law who lives in Gillette Wyoming went to Arbuckle Lodge and he explained my situation of needing to cancel my reservations (two-room suite w/kitchenette $594.00 for 3 days). The person he contacted explained that the co-owner would have to make that decision, she then provided a phone number to contact that person. My son-in-law and I both attempted to call the provided number, but she never answered or responded to our voice messages. Now fast-forward to the first week of June 2020, me and my family drove from the Los Angeles area to Gillette to visit family members. Again, we made numerous attempts to contact Kayla Schwartz who we were told is the Lodge Manager, and met with no response. My son-in-law was able to obtain the co-owner's cell number and he made a few text to her explaining my situation. It was our purpose, since Arbuckle Lodge had already cashed-in my $594, which they never rendered service, we were hoping they could, if anything compensate us a room for a couple of nights. Again, my son-in-law tried numerous times calling the co-owner so she could make the decision to let or not allow us stay at Arbuckle Lodge. She never answered our numerous calls, but did respond to my son-in-law with a text, stating that she was at a hospital with a family member on their death bed, and she would not answer any text or calls from that time forward. End of conversation. I truly sympathize with her and her situation. However, being a co-owner or placed in an authoritative position where her decisions are concerning public/customer service. She simply could have easily made a five second decision and resolved an ongoing request and question of allowing us stay at her Lodge that we already paid for. Bottom line is, I lost out of my $594, and we chose to stay at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Gillette and we received excellent customer service there. We will never again book reservations at Arbuckle Lodge. So, I concur with giantsguy65 answer to rosehillmom, your input was right-on "She has responded by being apathetic and the hotel ownership doesn't seem to care." read more

We booked there most expensive room.It smelled like diarhea when we walked in.4:00 not even cleaned yet.the molding was pealing up around the slippery jacuzzi tub.I actually slipped in the shower ,their cleaning products become slippery when wet.They claim to have a fireplace not real, not even gas, not even a warm blower, pretty much a picture of a fireplace.We complained the first night.they could have cared less. Quiet hours are not enforced.HORRIBLE STAY!!! They cater to messy loud unsupervised sports teams. read more

We stayed in a family suite. Very spacious and all the amenities. The entire property was very clean and modern. They had cold cuts set up for sandwiches (not refrigerated or cooled in any way, which made me a bit nervous). The pool was nice, but there were a lot of flies which upset my kids.m, but hat seems the norm in those parts. My only complaint is that they offer "free" laundry and there are two washers and two dryers. One of each was out of order which was super annoying. They also had no laundry detergent which necessitated a trip to Wal-greens; so that was annoying. The breakfast buffet was nice but no fruit of any kind. read more

Manager Laura Spooner is highly unprofessional. Probably shouldn't overbook the facilities if you cannot accomdate everyone. Graduation weekend and a baseball tournament proved entirely too complicated for her and her staff. They made a graduation party half a pool area to use and then threatened everyone else in the pool area for using it. Told us to leave when our entire team paid to stay here for the weekend. Allowed them to threaten our children and post pictures of our teenage girls in their swimsuits on their Facebook page. Our community has stayed here for various sports before but will no longer support them. I grew up in this town and am embarrassed at the hospitality shown to us this weekend. Don't waste your money on any kind of party or hotel rooms here. read more

Just don't book with a third party... PROS: large clean room nice decor breakfast was fine CONS: Pillows were foam. One tissue thin blanket. No extra blankets or pillows. HOTWIRE / PRICELINE / etc. BOOKERS BEWARE We booked through Hotwire three hours before our arrival. Dillon at the front desk AND the manager Becca could not have been LESS helpful. - Information had not made it to them from Hotwire, and this is a recurring problem. (Hotwire, priceline, etc.) You'd think if it was a recurring problem they would have a way to resolve it. - Dillon told us we should cancel Hotwire (Hotwire is not cancelable) and book a room through him at their regular rate. We pushed to have him put us in a room since we had a confirmation number and he said there was no way to do so. - We asked for the manager and were told the manager would not be in until 9 am the next morning and he had no way to get in touch with them. - He finally pointed to a stack of business cards and told us we could try to get in touch with someone in sales. (Becca.) The number for the manager just rang at the hotel. HE should have been the one to call - not push it on us. - We explained the situation to Becca and she said she would call Dillon. We thought she would call him and instruct him how to check us into the room we'd paid for. Nope. She told him to tell us that the terms and conditions of Hotwire state that the booking might take 6 to 24 hours to go through. (They don't.) And that it wasn't their fault. My booking from Hotwire says, and I quote, "You're booked and the hotel is waiting for you. There is no need to reconfirm your reservation with Arbuckle Lodge Gillette or Hotwire..." Becca pushing this conversation onto Dillon was completely unprofessional and cowardly. - We went to dinner, waited on hold with Hotwire for 90 minutes and they then called Dillon at Arbuckle and faxed him our confirmation. - After dinner, three hours later, we came back to the hotel, expecting no difficulties. No such luck. While Dillon had the faxed confirmation, he couldn't figure out how to book us. He took our credit card info for incidentals and asked what rate we got with Hotwire. - Worrying that Dillon was completely incompetent, the next morning we went down to insure we had not been double charged for the room. We had been. The manager reversed the charge, so it was fine, but the experience overall was a complete cluster. IF THEY CANNOT HANDLE THIRD PARTY BOOKING SERVICES, THEY NEED TO REMOVE THEMSELVES FROM THE RELATIONSHIP AND NOT TAKE BOOKINGS. We use Hotwire over 30 times a year and have NEVER had a reservation not found. That was just one issue. If that had been the only issue I would have been much more understanding. The way the issue was handled (never apologizing, not taking any responsibility, not doing ANYTHING to take care of a paying customer) is what will make me never go back. read more

I will never again book with this hotel!!! We reserve hotel rooms every year for dance competitions in Gillette. I've been trying for three weeks to cancel my reservation and I continue to get the runaround or completely ignored. Initially when I tried to cancel online, I repeatedly got a message that said I had to contact the property to cancel. When I tried to do so, I was told to call back at a later time. So then I did. I have asked for the manager several times and left my name and phone number several times. I have not received one call back. I have sent several emails with no response either. Now it is at a point where I am not able to cancel or get any type of refund at all. Their customer service infuriates me along with their greed. I will encourage everyone whether in the dance competitions or not to never book here again! Which is very unfortunate because the location of it seemed nice, because it's across from the CamPlex where the dance competitions are performed. Upon reading other reviews and talking with other customers, this isn't the first time something like this had happened. So it's not some "one time mess up". It seems to be common practice for them. Don't allow them to steal your money. There are plenty of nice hotels in the Gillette area that won't screw you over. read more

Stay was fine. Rooms were clean. Problem is I booked room direct and setup a cooperate account to get a bit of a discount off regular charge. When I arrived they had me down for one night rather than the three I arranged over phone. No big deal corrected easily at check in. I finished my work in area and went to check out after staying two nights. They billed me for third and would not refund me for night I did not stay. They said they have a no return policy, but this policy was never discussed or brought to my attention at booking, checkin or booking change at check in. After causing a bit of a scene they called manager in from days off who printed me out an invoice that showed credit for third night. It has been ten days and credit has still not happened. I called after five business days and was told it was still processing. Please be aware if you plan a stay with this hotel. read more
